CARLSBAD, Calif. – Feb. 6, 2019 – USAopoly®, a premier publisher of hobby, party, social and family board games and puzzles, and Games Workshop®, the world’s largest hobby miniatures company, best known for Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000, today announced plans to develop licensed versions of the critically-acclaimed adventure board game, Talisman.
USAopoly will release two new licensed versions of Talisman in North America and other select regions later this year. This will be the first time a licensed version of the game will be available. The new partnership grants USAopoly international rights to distribute co-branded renditions of the “Magical Quest Game” via distributors, online marketplaces and beyond.
“Talisman is one of the most respected tabletop games of all time and served as a gateway into gaming for many people,” says Candace Brenner, VP of Marketing for USAopoly. “Working with some of the most cherished licenses in the world to add our own heroic twists to the game, these upcoming thematic versions will let an entire new audience experience the grand adventure that is Talisman!”
First released in 1983, Talisman has sold millions of copies worldwide. The game’s fourth edition, which was released in 2009, was granted the Ludoteca Ideale Official Selection award.
Media and retailers can learn more about the partnership and details on the upcoming games at New York Toy Fair (Booth #203). More about the licensed versions will be announced later this year.
Talisman, the magical quest game from Games Workshop, is a classic board game that has been enjoyed by fantasy fans for 35 years. As one of many characters, including warriors, rogues and magicians, the player embarks on a perilous adventure to find and claim the Crown of Command – a magical artifact with the power to destroy any rival and make the bearer the ruler of the kingdom. It’s a game of skillful decision-making based on dice and cards. Nomad Games brought the multiplayer version of the top-selling Games Workshop board game to PC, tablets and mobile devices in 2012, with the brand selling over one million units to date.

Here's a prompt for the millennial moms and dads: Hark back on your days as a parent, and try to remember when it was possible, at any point, to trek beyond the borders of your LEGO-lined hallway for a fancy night on the town. Reminisce on the successfully synced departures, made reservations, and all those MapQuest printouts ago, when yelling “3… 2… 1…” at the night’s end was literally to announce a New Year, and not a countdown warning for your children.
As for today, the rarity that dots your social calendar known as “Parents’ Night Out” promises a sort of liberation that comes second to walking barefoot on a crumb-free floor. After all, organizing a fun outing without an early curfew is wishful thinking at best. But alas, the final day of December is upon us, and 2019 is calling for that child-free occasion to present itself pronto (along with the pressure from fellow parents to organize a New Year’s reprieve).
If the phrase “We got a sitter!” is more likely to be heard from your dog trainer than to actually happen in your household, designate a new tradition for the upcoming late-night rendezvous. Leave the kids with their “cool aunt” and go out with the grownups to play The Privacy Game!
This adults-only activity for 2 to 5 players reconnects you with your wild side by revealing all “the $#!t you wanna know, but never asked” about everyone’s deepest, darkest secrets. Containing hundreds of scandalous questions on bedroom behavior, morals, and personal habits, Privacy puts all players on the spot to make anonymous confessions (whether they have or haven’t had certain experiences, would or wouldn’t in outrageous hypotheticals, and so on) by placing “Yes” or “No” answer chips into a secret ballot box.
Each person uses their own color-coded dials to bet on how many people answered “Yes” to each question, and guessing correctly (or close enough) earns you points. In other words, JUDGE away! While the first player to earn 20 points takes the game, the real winners come out with much more info than they bargained for. No one ever has to know who specifically answered what—but within close quarters at your favorite bar or between adjoining hotel suites, it might be too easy to tell! Along with the question cards, answer dials, and voting pieces, the game includes a "Privacy" sign door hanger to designate your restricted hangout.
Whether you've had to miss out on regular Happy Hours or turn down a "passion party" in order to tuck the kids in, make up for lost mischief by coaxing out other frazzled parents who could use some time to let loose. Then regress to the spontaneity of days past, when party games involved telling the truth or taking a dare, proudly declaring things you’ve never done, or finding out where an unpredictable bottle spin will point—without the public humiliation.
Not all holidays have to mean house arrest with hours of kid-friendly Hulu. Leave the ball dropping to Times Square and be prepared for a new year of unforgettable nights with The Privacy Game! Pick one up now at Target, Barnes & Noble, or wherever you buy board games!
Revisit the purity of 90s anime with everything you need to take on the Death Buster, outsmart your opponents, and win a classic strategy game with the power of Pretty Guardians in your corner! MONOPOLY: Sailor Moon is available now!
Take yourself back to when this transformational guardian’s theme song became your afternoon anthem. The Pretty Guardians is here to help you defends what’s yours… on the tabletop! Sailor Moon and her friends Mercury, Mars, and Venus among others adorn the pieces of your traditional Monopoly game in a set for fans to buy, sell, and trade their way to the most riches.
Pastels abound on a colorful game board featuring 22 locations named after Sailor Moon’s exciting cast of characters. Friends and enemies such as love interest Tuxedo Mask, felines Luna & Artemis, King Endymion, Professor Tomoe, Mistress 9 and more see you through each fateful space, while taxes threaten you with attacks by the Witches 5 or Death Busters from Tau Nebula.
The journey to victory starts with custom tokens sculpted after six enchanting gifts: Cosmic Heart Compact, Moon Chalice, Spiral Heart Moon Rod, Garnet Orb, Deep Aqua Mirror, and Space Sword.
Cards called Friendship carry surprises that, true to relationships in real life, can bring you joy or throw you off track. Thank Heavens that Love cards open Community Chest-like opportunities that can lift you up when your funds are low! Among the spaces that haven’t changed are Jail and Free Parking, which offer a couple corners where you’ll know what to expect.
“Buying houses by moonlight, winning games by daylight” is destined to become your motto once you own a piece of the magic with MONOPOLY: Sailor Moon! Start the adventure by scoring it from your favorite terrestrial game store or online retailer today!
Can you believe it? Very soon, 2018 will be a wrap! What a fun year of gaming it has been. We released over 40 new games and have enjoyed seeing all the fun fans have had playing. While friends and fans have had their personal favorites of the year, we've had a few favorites of our own! Check out our top picks of 2018:
Privacy was a personal favorite for our PR & Communications Manager, Jackie:
"I love The Privacy Game because every time I play this game with my crew, I learn something about my friends that is either a) shocking, b) hilarious, c) totally disgusting, or d) all of the above!
Privacy is the perfect game to play with your NSFW friends, for couples game nights, bachelorette parties or get togethers with the girls. Its really easy to play, and everyone loves to take turns asking the next juicy or salacious question, then pointing fingers and making desperate accusations. What’t not to love!? CAUTION: Do NOT play this one with your parents!"
Tina, our Marketing Coordinator's, favorite game of the year was Blank Slate:
"I am a little biased, mostly because I got to run the demos of this game at Gen Con and PAX Unplugged, and got to experience first-hand how much people enjoyed it! It brings together not just families and friends, but complete strangers too! It is so simple, yet forces you to think a little harder to find the perfect answer. The best part is when people “assume” that there is an obvious answer to any one phrase. The shock they experience when everyone guesses a different word is absolutely hilarious! This is a game that I will continue to play with family and friends for years to come and I’m sure others will too because '______Minds Think Alike.'"
Brian, our Paid Media/Digital Marketing Specialist, absolutely loved playing Trivial Pursuit: World of Harry Potter Ultimate Edition this year:
"I am a huge Harry Potter fan – my wife and I watch any one of the movies on what seems to be a monthly basis. So when we came out with the new Trivial Pursuit: World of Harry Potter Ultimate Edition, I picked up a copy! In addition to me and my wife, my sister in law is a big Potterhead so we all squared off to test our knowledge about the movies. We had a great time and it was awesome to jump into the Wizarding World. The questions are challenging and the board and pieces are beautiful – the perfect addition for any Harry Potter fan!"
Thanos Rising: Avengers Infinity War was a go-to game for Jake, our Marketing and Events Specialist, and Ross Thompson, our Marketing and Community Manager this year:
"I love Thanos Rising for many reasons but the main one is because I feel like I am playing the movie out on table top. Anytime there is a game where players are fully immersed into a story or license, especially with a top property like Marvel, I think it makes for an engaging game! The custom dice and Thanos figure make this a high quality game that I appreciate. And like great co-op games, this game beats you a lot and makes you want to play again and again! Thanos certainly makes it challenging to beat him and his minions, but challenge accepted dude–the Avengers got this!"–Jake
"Avengers: Infinity War was such an incredible film this year and its fun that Thanos Rising lets you play as a team to help try and stop Thanos from destroying the universe. Its always fun to play a good dice throwing game and build up your machine to make that happen. Looking forward to playing more over the holidays.” –Ross
Our Marketing Coordinator, Jamie, couldn't get enough of Fantastic Beasts Perilous Pursuit this year:
"I love playing as Newt, my fellow Hufflepuff, and collecting all of the beasts and put them back into Newt’s suit case. I loved the movie so much and I love being able to play a game that follows so true to the movie– it's so much fun. It makes me feel like I’m in the 1920s helping my fellow classmate with his sly beasts. Fantastic Beasts Perilous Pursuit is a super fun cooperative dice game that I think all fans will love to play too!"
And there you have it, our top picks of 2018! If you haven't checked them out yet, you can here:
This was a big year for us and next year will be even bigger! Stay tuned for the fun games we'll be releasing in 2019. Happy holidays! We hope you spend your break playing board games with loved ones. We know we will!
You’ve freshly procured a festive holiday sweater and updated your RSVP from “Maybe” to “Going” for a casual gift exchange. The invite prompts you to bring a wrapped present, so your low-key stalking of the guest list begins. Who will be there, and what can you bring that will appease the Spirit of Party Goers Past?
As tradition would have it, the night’s focus will most likely be a bottle-shaped bag, unwrapped by one person and “stolen” by another, before the hot commodity has passed through too many hands. The only thing you can be sure of is taking home a decisively unremarkable item, and you’re already wishing the event was centered around a more rousing premise.
Contribute something new to a humdrum gathering by turning up the heat, no fussing with the thermostat needed! Spare your passenger seat from the bag of party ice and take along a prize that’ll liven things up: Your secretive Santa-esque plan calls for the Privacy Game!
Be sure to open up this hilariously inappropriate adult party game to turn every guest’s halo into a pair of horns. Rounds of drinks and confession-based questions will have the creatures stirring all through the house as everyone addresses the “White Elephant” in the room! With hundreds of unsettling scenarios to imagine, your resolution to simply make an appearance may turn into settling in for the night.
You’ll have to guess if your neighbor has “done the deed” in a church pew, assume who’s had a fantasy about a relative, and consider dozens of outrageous hypotheticals that reveal “all the $#!t you want to know, but never asked” about your peers! Be the most accurate judgment passer of the group to rack up points and take home the victory… instead of a set of scented candles.
“Have you ever french kissed a senior citizen and liked it?”
If the inquiring minds in your company prefer to veer off the “one-track” and into more artistic territory, there’s a better option for the living room table than a re-gifted photography book.
Encourage friends to tap their inner-caveman with a hands-on game of Telestrations After Dark, which makes players communicate a humorously adults-only phrase, from one person to the next, solely through a series of doodles. Guessing the drawn clue before “passing it on” makes the resulting sketches resemble a whiteboard edition of Sex Ed 101. The stick-figure artist that has their clue guessed correctly the most gets the D! Ahem—the W, actually.
Be ready to riff into countless and unintentional inside jokes (with people whose names you’re still trying to figure out) and wake up the next day with a TMI hangover plaguing the rest of the day’s thoughts.
Own the life of the party by surprising everyone with a finger-pointing, laugh-out-loud experience they won’t want to pass up next year! What kind of questions would you have walking into a roomful of acquaintances? Play devil’s advocate and get the answers with the Privacy Game and Telestrations After Dark from Target and wherever you buy board games!
The classic war game known and played by generations has been infiltrated with life forms witnessed only through the eyes of everyone’s favorite sci-fi adventurers—and the pressure is on to squanch the other rulers in the Multiverse! Get shwifty and put a different type of domination on the map with RISK®: Rick and Morty™, available now!
In The Infinite Possibilities Across Infinite Universes Edition of this game, you’ll find six unworldly regions in place of the traditional territories on a custom game board, themed with the haphazardly bold look and feel of Rick and Morty™ animation. Crazy Outskirts, Earth C-137 Area, Gazorpazorp, Unity’s Planet, Purge Planet, and The Citadel of Ricks create a total of 39 Territories to claim!
Three to five players ages 17+ will have five Factions to choose from in order to charge through objectives and eliminate enemies: Robotic Exoskeleton Dogs, humanoid Gazorpians, ersatz Mythologs, the resilient Post-Apocalyptic, and our own U.S. Government. Custom sculpted tokens, modeled after figures and vehicles from the show and ranging from ridiculously large heads to a group of Jerry Worms, form the standard single and triple Units.
Their respective leaders, Snowball, Ma-Sha, XenoBeth, Hemorrhage, and the President can practice special abilities in the areas they occupy, giving armies a boost in morale and strategy.
Collecting Schmeckles to combine values needed to recruit more Mohawk Warriors or Steam-Punk Cars may be needed as Reinforcements, but the roll of the dice will essentially declare victory and defeat amidst optional attacks. Over 240 pieces make up the contents of this galactic challenge for hours of role-playing and storytelling that Rick and Morty fans of any depth would appreciate!
Score a ride to the Central Finite Curve and invade locations where the game is high RISK, but bold moves can have WubaLubbaDubDub rewards! Get your copy of RISK® Rick and Morty™ from your local game store or online retailer today!

The table is set for traditional holiday celebrations: out-of-town visitors, nap-inducing indulgences, exchanging gifts and words—very terse, insistent words—usually after a family game night that gets as tense as the waist of your pants.
Before you find yourself waving a gravy-stained napkin over who won, cheated, or botched a game meant to strengthen domestic bonds, prepare for a holiday fiasco with a selection from these games that reflect family dynamics, whether you’re catering to the Brady Bunch or a houseful of Belchers.
Blank Slate plays to the finicky “sibling rivalry” chemistry that facilitates an uncanny ability to think alike which, until now, has only lent itself to corroborating post-curfew alibis in your teen years.
As the Blank Slate slogan goes, “[Your Family Name] Minds Think Alike” in a casual and easy-to-learn word association game, where you must rely on first instincts and even others’ vocabulary to create compound words, match another’s answers, and be the first to rack up 25 points as a result.
If you’re often faced with the conflict of being your sibling’s best pal or number-one nemesis, leave it to fate by filling in your slates and discovering that you have more in common with “the black sheep” than you’d like to admit.
It might be harder to gauge the extent of your family’s vocabulary if you grew up with, say, your mom using every G-rated curse word under the sun when you got in trouble. Give thanks to the folks who raised you by letting them win a fast and fun game of Tapple.
Something about the quick reactions, sound effects, and tactical Tapple wheel will remind you of pushing your parents’ buttons as you try to be the last one standing in this casual game of “think fast.” Draw a category card, start a ten-second timer, and name something from that category beginning with an untapped letter of the alphabet until everyone’s been stumped.
It’s an easy victory to pass onto the loving, deserving maternal figure in your life, so just pretend you can’t name an animal that starts with the letter “T” unless you want Cersei Lannister mashing the living daylights out of your potatoes with frustration.
“Telephone” is an old children’s game that involves the transferring of a message from one person to another strictly through a chain of whispers. Light-hearted enough, considering the fun is how drastically different the final interpretation is from the original idea.
Miscommunication abounds, and laughter ensues. So how is playing Telestrations any different than a conversation with your family? You’re at the mercy of each other’s drawing skills and Grandma can’t blame her hearing aid for ignoring you.
Despite providing ample grounds for wires to get crossed, Telestration’s cooperative nature makes this the easiest game to work together and “play nice” to make sense out of everyone’s attempt to sketch the same word. If you’ve conveyed the word “hedgehog” to the clan without anyone guessing it was Uncle Todd’s toupee, you’ve earned the point in more ways than one.
Get your friends and family together this holiday break to play a game after you dig into a feast and before you start digging at each other.
