Out today through recently relaunched label New Dawn Records, the new single SMOKE FILLED ROOMS b/w SKIZTOPHONETIC by UK Hip Hop crew Belles in Monica
Already on international rotation, ‘Smoke Filled Rooms’ mixes electronica, turntablism and South Asian flavors to journey into the dark underbelly of the inner city with rhymes depicting a vision of drug squalor hell, while the booming kicks and soaring strings of ‘Skitzophonetic’ provides the dramatic backdrop for a verbal tirade against generic conformity.
Bonus cut ‘That All U Got?’ invokes the spirit of Ali & Foreman leaving industry machinations slumped in the corner, a towel thrown in. The art of storytelling has returned on a release spanning all eras.
Taken from the ‘Natsukashii’ EP out June 7th, the second in their ‘Lazarus’ series following April’s ‘Y’All in Meltdown‘ EP.

Mungo’s Hi Fi, are pleased to share the video to album track ‘More Fyah’, taken from their forthcoming album ‘More Fyah’, released 19th July via Scotch Bonnet Records.
Fusing modern dancehall with half time drum and bass, ‘More Fyah’ encapsulates the experience of the UK festival scene, bringing flavours of carnival, underground clubs and sound systems together.
‘More Fyah’ was as commissioned as part of the live theatre production, KID_X. The show has been created by the combined skills of Bassline Circus, MHz, and Feral. Mungo’s Hi Fi were asked to write the music for the show while Eva Lazarus wrote the lyrics and has a starring role in the performance. Mungo’s new album ‘More Fyah’, is a stunning collaboration with Eva and follows the success of their 2017 hook-up on the critically acclaimed ‘Amsterdam’ EP. A genre-melding masterpiece, it traverses between Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, Grime, Hip Hop, and other Bass flavours. Eva seamlessly tackles every track with her unique lyrical flow and wide vocal range, matched by Mungo’s infectious signature sound. From the feel-good vibes of ‘Dub Be Good 2 Me’, the ragga mash-up title track ‘More Fyah’, the summery riddims of ‘Light As A Feather’, featuring London reggae artist Kiko Bun, to the roots sampling ‘Babylon Raid’, featuring Jamaican reggae legend Max Romeo, Mungo’s have a sound that is deeply rooted in dub and reggae’s lineage, backed by the sharp, sassy and slick vocals of Eva.
Raised out of one of the most musically creative cities in the UK, Mungo’s Hi Fi have made a massive contribution to Glasgow’s story with a respectful nod to Jamaican sound system tradition. Founded in 2000, Mungo’s was formed by two like-minded DJs, inspired by the free party scene but following the Jamaican tradition of King Tubby and Prince Jammy. True to reggae/dancehall’s DIY ethos, they built their first sound from speakers found in a skip and began producing on an old Atari. They started inviting visiting vocalists to their regular nights in Glasgow to hold the mic and then join them in the studio. Following early recordings on London’s Dubhead records, including debut album ‘Mungo’s Hi Fi Meets Brother Culture’, they founded the Scotch Bonnet Records label in 2005.
Today, Mungo’s is a global operation with six members: all committed to spreading their philosophy of serious, seismic productions plus easy going democratic dancehall fun. Highly collaborative, they’ve worked on remix projects with Leftfield, Coldcut, Submotion Orchestra, Kahn and Prince Fatty in the UK to Major Lazer in the US and are currently expanding links with East African Records based in Uganda. The vocal collaborations go much further, from foundation Jamaican legends such as Sugar Minott, Ranking Joe and Johnny Clarke to contemporary artists like Charlie P, Kenny Knots, YT, Solo Banton, Parly B and Marina P.

London, UK based producer J Rick recently dropped the visual to his latest track GONE, filmed on location in Egypt
Producer and rising star of UK music J Rick returns with his second single ‘Gone’. The song comes as a follow up from his debut single ‘Short’. The visual, which was premiered via Noisey, directed by Armin Druzanovic, serves as an abstract representation of J Rick’s time in Egypt, capturing the true beauty of the city as well as the essence of the song perfectly. The track begins with a sample of a conversation between J Rick’s uncle and British Boxer Errol Christie and ‘Mad’ Frankie Fraser of the Kray Twins and evolves into a dance floor track mixed with a Pastor’s sample, culminating in a Burial Esque final third.
“In this video, we were trying to represent different emotions and feelings and I knew Egypt would have those dynamics. Cairo is a mad bustling city, the call to prayer is mad beautiful. People are respectful and polite and the street kids are tecky and are mad smarter than you. I wanted to show what a mostly Islamic city really looks like and not what people desperately try to convey online” says J Rick.
J Rick’s uncle Errol Christie released an autobiography titled ‘How I Put The Black In The Union Jack’ including growing up in Coventry alongside the National Front, his early boxing career through to his successes and post-fight careers in white-collar boxing, comedy, and other areas. His mantra was ‘No Retreat No Surrender’ which J Rick has tattooed across his stomach and is both the inspiration and title of his forthcoming mixtape.

Brooklyn, New York-based emcee Koncept teams up with Detroit emcee Royce Da 5’9″ for their new track WATCH THE SKY FALL 2, produced by Los Angeles based heavyweight Wrist
After two years on the road and a lot of time spent in Asia, including a sold-out tour with Scoop Deville, Koncept now returns with his new single ‘Watch The Sky Fall 2’ featuring Royce da 5’9″.
This offering is Koncept’s first main single from his upcoming studio album ‘Champagne Konny’ which is due for release later this summer. With such a long time spent overseas, Koncept discovered a new perspective on his career and life in general, and this new project is his recharge into a new era!
‘Watch The Sky Fall 2’ also featuring Royce da 5’9″ was the lead single on Koncept’s debut album ‘Awaken’, and the inspiration for the remix came from tapping into where it all started for him, but with a zest for new life, adding in a new verse, and a new sound sonically with Wrist and Keitel Jr.
Koncept brings his smooth effortless sounding East coast flavor, and with Royce’s witty lyrics and Detroit charisma, this is a song for every Hip Hop fan across the board.
Koncept said, “When life seems to be falling apart and you’re feeling broken, you need to catch it, pick yourself up and pull through it”.
This new single and ‘Champagne Konny’, have been produced entirely by Los Angeles based heavyweight Wrist.TheGreatest. From a humble upbringing in Thomasville, North Carolina followed by a move to LA, his production style is raw, funky, bass heavy, and also brings a west coast bounce.
This song and the whole album was created on moods. There were no beats made, no rhymes written before going into the studio each day. Koncept and Wrist created everything together on the spot from beginning to end with each song.
