Unified MMA Heavyweight champion and #1 Heavyweight in Canada Tanner “The Bulldozer” Boser has reportedly finally signed with the UFC. Boser is expected to make his debut at UFC 240 in Edmonton, Alberta on July 27 against undefeated Brazilian Giacomo Lemos. Although an official announcement of the signing has not been made by the UFC the fight will likely take place on the preliminary card.
Tanner Boser will finally step into the Octagon after several years of speculation if he would ever ink a UFC contract. Boser has had prior talks about signing with the worldwide leader in MMA but for whatever reason the signing never materialized. Boser signed with Absolute Championship Berkut and later with M-1 Global. Boser has put together a career record of 16-5-1 and most recently defended his Unified Heavyweight Title in a 4th round TKO of Jared Kilkenny. Boser also holds notable wins over the likes of Chase Gormley, DJ Linderman, Dave Cryer, Rakim Cleveland, Joe Yager, Tony Lopez, Victor Valimaki and the late Tim Hague among others.
Giacomo Lemos will also be making his UFC debut and comes into the bout with an unblemished record of 6-0 with a 100% finishing rate including 5 knockouts. Lemos last two fights took place in South Korea where he won and defended the Angel’s Fighting Openweight Title. Lemos also finished his first four opponents on his home soil in Brazil.
UFC 240 goes down July 27 at Rogers Place in Edmonton Alberta. In the main event Max Holloway defends the Featherweight Title against former UFC Lightweight Champ Frankie Edgar and in the co-main event Cris Cyborg returns to take on rising Canadian Featherweight Felicia Spencer. Other Canadians on the card include Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Alexis Davis, Gillian Robertson, Marc-Andre Barriault and Gavin Tucker.

Unified MMA 36 went down this past weekend from The River Cree Resort and Casino just outside Edmonton, Alberta (Check out the full play-by-play HERE). In the main event Tanner Boser returned to the Unified cage for the first time in over two years to defend the Heavyweight Title against Jared Kilkenny. Teddy Ash moved back up to Light-Heavyweight and defended his title against Neil Berry and finally Neal Anderson scored the biggest win of his career with a huge first round KO of Craig Shintani.
Keep in mind, in most cases the match-ups listed here are hypothetical and have not been announced or rumored to be taking place unless otherwise noted.
Let us know your thoughts on who should be up next for the big winners and the rest of the card and who you think would win our hypothetical match-ups.
265lbs- Tanner Boser (16-5-1) vs. Chase Sherman (12-6)
***Heavyweight Title Fight
Tanner Boser returned to the Unified cage after spending over two years fighting for Russian promotions ACB and M1 Global. Boser finished Jared Kilkenny using a calculated attack and forced the TKO finish in the fourth round after chopping Kilkenny down with leg kicks. Boser is still under contract with M1 Global for 5 more fights however he could return to defend his Unified title with permission. If he does get the opportunity to return for another defense perhaps UFC veteran Chase Sherman would provide and entertaining matchup.
185lbs- Teddy Ash (14-4) vs. UFC Middleweight
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before but… Teddy Ash has earned his chance to fight in the Octagon and with the UFC returning to Edmonton in July the timing is perfect. Ash has won eight of his last nine outings including six finishes. Ash’s only loss came to Dominique Steele who missed weight and Ash finished Steele in the immediate rematch. Among Ash’s recent wins he captured the Unified Middleweight and Light-Heavyweight Title and defended each once and also captured the Prestige Light-Heavyweight strap. Ash is now the #1 Middleweight and Light-Heavyweight in Canada not already signed to the UFC!
155lbs- Neal Anderson (10-3) vs. Shane Campbell (15-8)
***Lightweight Title Fight
Neal Anderson is in the midst of six fight winning streak after his huge KO victory over Craig Shintani. Neal has climbed to the top of the Unified Lightweight ladder and standing atop that ladder is the current champion Shane Campbell. It will be a huge step up in competiton but the time as come for Anderson to challenge for the Lightweight Title.
185lbs- KB Bhullar (7-0) vs. Matt Dwyer (11-5)
***Middleweight Title Fight
KB Bhullar kept the ball rolling Friday night against the toughest test of his career in Cody Krahn. If Bhullar’s teammate Teddy Ash takes his rightful spot in the UFC that would leave the Middleweight Title vacant and possibly set up a bout between Bhullar and UFC veteran Matt Dwyer for the strap. A win over Dwyer would cement Bhullar as one of the top Middleweights in Canada.
265lbs- Christian Larsen (4-1) vs. Jared Kilkenny (13-11)
Unified 37 was Christian Larsen’s coming out party. After a solid 3-1 start to his career Larsen scored the most devastating finish of his young career and battered Tyler King unconscious with a vicious onslaught. There is only one fight to make for Larsen right now and that is the rematch with Jared Kilkenny who finished Larsen two years ago with an early TKO. If Larsen could avenge that loss he would put himself among the top of a suddenly surging Canadian Heavyweight scene.
155lbs- Roger Alves (5-1) vs. Spencer Rohovie (13-9)
Roger Alves grinded out another win this weekend and survived a couple deep submission attempts from Cole Campbell. Alves put his wrestling on full display scoring over a dozen takedowns en route to a unanimous decision. Perhaps a matchup with a tough veteran like Spencer Rohovie should be next on the docket for Alves.
On The Rebound:
205lbs- Neil Berry (8-9) vs. Tyler Weran (3-1)
145lbs- Craig Shintani (8-3) vs. Maged Hammo (9-5-1)
185lbs- Cody Krahn (16-14) vs. Drayton Angus (7-8)
