I recently did an interview with the company DESEDA whom I collaborated with on a scarf design. The interview is now on the blog and I talk about my work and current favourites when it comes to inspiration, people and places.
My ‘Dinosaurs’ design is now available on Bucketfeet shoes as it was selected as the winner in the Threadless Fresh Kicks design challenge!
Needless to say I’m super happy about this, especially since there were over 600 submissions. On top of that ‘Dinosaurs’ is also available from Threadless on a huge range of products such as apparel, accessories and home decor!
One of my latest patterns is this hummingbird pattern. I really enjoyed the drawing part although it took me quite a while to finish it. I realised that if I take more time and challenge myself I create better art. I have been pushing myself to look more closely at what I’m drawing, take more time doing it and therefore making artwork that I truly love!
I just released a brand new pattern collection named BOLD on Creative Market. BOLD is a nature-inspired abstract pattern collection featuring sunsets, rainbows, leaves and many more of the best elements from Mother Nature. I designed this collection in a way so that you can easily mix and match all the patterns together withstrong motives but also some supporting textures.
After travelling though Vietnam for 3 months, my next destination was the amazing Myanmar! We started out in Mandalay and continued on to Bagan, the Inle Lake and Ngapali Beach to end in Yangon.
I decided to draw a map of where we’ve been and things that made an impression on me. In Mandalay we joined in the Burmese New Year Thingyan that is celebrated by a four day long water festival where people take to the streets to splash each other with buckets and hoses all day long! This symbolises the cleansing of the mind but mostly it means you can’t walk two meters without someone chasing after you!
After Mandalay we carried on to Bagan to explore the many temples in the area. Next stop was the Inle Lake where we stayed in a floating resort on the actual lake and visited fisherman villages and artisan workshops by boat.
In Ngapali Beach we had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying some down time before taking our last plane to Yangon for some more culture. The Shwedagon Pagoda was an unforgettable sight!
The biggest highlights of the trip are included in the map which shall forever remind me of an amazing trip!
