Glass Ceremonies: A Twist on Tradition

Our creative twist on the traditional unity ceremony will let you and your partner create something beautiful together. Choose your colors of glass frit and combine them at your wedding. Afterwards, a skilled glassblower will transform them into a commemorative glass masterpiece you will cherish for years to come.

Photo credit: Atlanta Wedding Photographer | www.Joyelan.com | Spring Lake Events

How it Works

Glass Ceremony Packages start at $375. This price includes:

Frit | You will receive 400g of frit—most couples select two or more hues

Pouring Vessels | Includes two smaller pouring vessels and one larger unity vessel.

Finished Artwork | Prices will vary depending on the size and style of the piece. You can browse designs and pricing on our online store.

Endless Options for Artwork

The possibilities are limitless! You can check out some of our most popular options here, but if you have something else in mind, our Custom Glass team is happy to work with you and provide an estimate for your custom piece.

Some couples also request a variety of add-ons as thank you gifts for the family or wedding party, such as drinking glasses, ornaments, wine bottle stoppers, and more. Need your items shipped? We can ship anywhere in the U.S.

Host your wedding in our venue!

Ceremony and reception clients at Third Degree can also keep their guests involved in the glassmaking process! After the ceremony, the combined glass can be delivered to our Glassblowing studio, where their artwork can be created for their guests during a live glassblowing demonstration. From start to finish, guests will be wowed by the glassblowers’ charisma and expert craftsmanship while a beautiful unique piece takes shape.

Interested in Taking the Next Step?

Shop online to pick your colors and artwork! For questions and custom art requests, contact Gallery Director Jen Fuller at 314.367.4527, x300.

You can also stop by our gallery Monday-Saturday 10:00a-5:00p and Sunday 11:00a-4:00p to view color and artwork samples.

Every month as a part of our Third Friday open house, we welcome a new local 2D artist to showcase their work in our East Gallery. This month, our gallery is adorned with the beautiful paintings of artist Doug Weaver. Read more about his show below.

About the show:

St. Louis has one of the most iconic and recognizable skylines in the United States, and this city’s rich history is rooted in its architecture. Since returning to St. Louis in 2015 after a two year stint in Rwanda, Doug Weaver has painted the Gateway Arch more than a dozen times. Weaver lives in a historic brick home in Old North, St. Louis. His view of Downtown has caused him to fall in love with and really explore this cityscape. Despite its urban nature, St. Louis is really a combination of small towns in its mix of historic and ever-changing neighborhoods. This show explores many of the striking views of St. Louis’ buildings and parks, both past and present.

About the artist:

Doug Weaver originally moved to St. Louis in 2011 to attend graduate school at Fontbonne University where he received his MFA in Painting. From 2013 to 2015, Weaver taught art, music, and drama in Rwanda as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Over the past three years, Weaver has dived into the guts of St. Louis. He has worked as a case manager in homelessness prevention from displacement due to gentrification in the Tower Grove area. He spends much of his time building awareness of systemic disparities in social infrastructure due to region, race, and income. Weaver is a foster parent of teenagers in St. Louis City, giving him constant interaction with St. Louis Public Schools, Public health, St. Louis Judicial System, St. Louis Police Department, and many of St. Louis’s many great non-profit and community based organizations.

Weaver’s love for St. Louis is matched only for his love of painting. He hand-grinds his own oil paints from locally sourced materials including oil from local farms, beeswax from a local beekeeper, and pigments that he makes himself from dye plants that he grows at the 13th Street Community Garden in Old North.

City Views will be on display at Third Degree through Wednesday, July 17. See more of Michael’s work on his website, or stop by to visit! We’re open Monday-Saturday 10:00a-5:00p & Sunday 11:00a-4:00p.

This week, Third Degree is happy to spotlight Seed Sprout Spoon (formerly Local Harvest). Seed Sprout Spoon is one of our preferred vendors, and we are always amazed by how beautifully their stations and buffets are put together. They offer a range of catering options including plated meals at events to drop off packages. They also provide an award-winning brunch service every Sunday at their brick and mortar restaurant with the same name.

We are also happy to announce that we have added Seed Sprout Spoon to our Small Group Catering Options. Now, our small group clients can order Seed Sprout Spoon for their catered events, such as lunches and appetizers, through Third Degree.

Here’s a quick Q & A with one of their owners, Erin Wiles.  Erin was forever a book nerd, majoring in English and French at Ohio University. She moved to St. Louis in 2006, having fallen in the love with the city visiting her sister at SLU. She fell rather haphazardly into the culinary industry, waiting tables until she started managing Local Harvest Cafe in 2012. She found a career when she took over the catering arm of the business in 2013. Brendan Kirby, co-owner, grew up at the famed Duff’s Restaurant, open for 30 years in the Central West End. He bartended & waited tables at multiple St. Louis restaurants before beginning his cooking career back at Duff’s. From there, he founded the menu program at Civil Life Brewery, and left there to become owner and chef at Seed Sprout Spoon.

When did SSS open for business? Tell me about how it started:

Seed Sprout Spoon was born of the legacy of Local Harvest Cafe & Catering, which itself was the brainchild of the founders of Local Harvest Grocery and Tower Grove Farmers Market. These institutions were among the first in St. Louis to promote, purchase, and sell local foods. Many successful local food businesses in the region got their start selling at TGFM and Local Harvest. In 2016, chef Brendan Kirby and event director Erin Wiles had the incredible opportunity to purchase the cafe and catering branch of Local Harvest. While Brendan was new to the organization, lately having helmed the kitchen at Civil Life Brewery, Erin had worked for Local Harvest since 2011. Brendan and Erin met working at Mangia Italiano in 2006 and remained friends until Erin convinced him to help purchase and rebrand the catering company. Building upon the connections LHC forged with farmers and clients, Seed Sprout Spoon brought on new staff, revamped social accounts and media, refined the signature food styling, and expanded the menus. Within a few short years, SSS has become a prominent farm-to-table caterer in the area, appearing in St. Louis Business Journal’s list of Top 25 Largest Catering Companies.

What is the core focus/mission of Seed Sprout Spoon? Describe your business philosophy?

We believe that a company can profit without draining the resources of its community. Our core value is to bolster the environment and economics of the St. Louis region while also creating gorgeous events and delicious food. The attached document details our commitment to locality, integrity, conservation, and reuse. We pay our staff a living wage, practice zero waste onsite and at events, purchase locally as much as feasible, and create our displays from upcycled objects.

Tell me about your menus- your food is super yummy, how do you get there….

Our menus are built to highlight the ingredients that the St. Louis region produces. Parts of menus are vaguely written so that we can incorporate what our farmers have to offer when we are purchasing for the event, often planned 6-18 months prior to execution. While our displays are high-end, our dishes are comforting and largely familiar, though we do add exotic elements and international cuisine to the mix. If you start with a high-quality, fresh ingredient, the best way to let it shine is in a simple preparation.

Tell me about the services SSS provides.

If you can think of a catering service, we can probably do it. We have two major divisions of our catering program: drop off catering and event catering. We drop off hot and continental lunches & breakfast, appetizer and hors d’oeuvre platters, desserts and drinks. We offer sustainable event planning and custom food styling. We have menus for stations, family-style, plated, and buffet dinners. We have a cafe-style brunch on Sundays only, and also cater a delicious event or drop off brunch. We can coordinate your reception & event rentals, and sometimes curate upcycled and living centerpieces for our clients. We work in private homes and in many event venues around town. We also host small parties at our storefront in Tower Grove South.

We are here to help! Third Degree has an extensive preferred vendor list from tried and true professionals.  From custom design and decor to creative signature cocktails, our staff can help you create an unforgettable event with our Unique Extras. To schedule a site visit, book your event or gather more info, contact Rachel at events@stlglass.com / 314-367-4527, 204.

KUDOS

Everyone was thoughtful, helpful, and kind. I would ask a question, and Rachel would answer that question plus a few more that I hadn’t even thought about. During the event, the staff was SO KIND to everyone, including lost guests who needed directions.  –Sara L.

Every month as a part of our Third Friday open house, we welcome a new local 2D artist to showcase their work in our East Gallery. This month, our gallery is adorned with the beautiful paintings of artist Michael Anderson. Read more about his show below.

About the show:
If you approach one of my paintings from across the room in order to closely see a detail you may not find it. I am willing to sacrifice a higher level of finish for more expressive brush strokes, simple shapes and the joy of thickly applied paint. I complete my paintings alla prima, all at once, outdoors on location in the plein air tradition. Texture and energy are essential elements in my work. I strive for my paintings to not only reflect the Midwestern landscape and but to transcend it as well. For me the act of painting is a meditation on the way light falls upon the earth revealing color, form and this artist’s relationship to nature.

About the artist:

Michael Anderson, a Belleville, IL resident, has been an artist, illustrator and designer for over 45 years. Michael’s work has been exhibited at Washington University, Southwestern Illinois College, Art Saint Louis, Edwardsville Art Center, St. Louis Artists Guild, McKendree University, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and the Ethical Society of St. Louis. His paintings, drawings and watercolors are included in numerous private collections as well as the permanent collections of Southwestern Illinois College Foundation, Laclede Gas (Spire), the City of Belleville, IL, St. John United Church of Christ, Manchester, MO and Angad Arts Hotel, St. Louis, MO.

Awards include 2008 Dona Weder Abbott Award For Artistic Excellence (Highland Arts Council), 2008 Big Splash Juror’s Choice(St. Louis Watercolor Society), 2012 President’s Award, Life Experienced (Southwestern Illinois College), 2018 St Louis Plein Air Open Category First Place.

Painterly Improvisations will be on display at Third Degree through Wednesday, June 19. See more of Michael’s work on his website, or stop by to visit! We’re open Monday-Saturday 10:00a-5:00p & Sunday 11:00a-4:00p.
