By popular demand, Captain Jack (@JackHeartless), along with returning friend of the show Christopher Pelletier, sit through *another* terrible wrestling movie for your enjoyment, as they watch wrestler/actor/sentient hot dog Hulk Hogan in the infamous No Holds Barred. Bask in the hamminess of Kurt Fuller, thrill to Rip’s incomprehensible hand signals, try to decipher why Zeus was inserted into WWF storylines, and most importantly, see if you can figure out…WHAT’S THAT SMELL?!?!?!
The post-Mania shows have come and gone, and this week – WWE has left us all shooketh. Or at least, they’d hope. Honestly, it was kinda meh – at least in presentation – but the moves made between RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and even 205 Live – they will indeed have repercussions that will be felt throughout the summer and beyond. We break down all the break-ups, later moves, promotions, and demotions in this week’s show!
This week on the DATEScast, our snackologists go on yet another flavor adventure, traversing the globe courtesy of Mars, Inc. But it’s not all fun & game on said flavor adventure as they also have to pick twice using the PER system in this three-way dance episode when they try not one but THREE new internationally inspired flavors of Peanut M&Ms: Thai Coconut (Curry), Mexican Jalapeno, and English Toffee. And of course, we have to rank them. Which legume-based flavor reigns supreme? Find out on this round of what we call the ol’ snack pod.
If you’re as Unfunny as Ulysses, as Nerdy as Neptune and as Tangential as Tartarus, then episode 74 is perfect for you! Join us as we remain pure of heart and evoke the powers of Shazam! (The movie, at least.)
On this episode, we delve into the Captain Marvel / Shazam naming controversy as well as ponder the similarities of a certain Eternian hero, before diving staff-first into the latest DC superhero film that isn’t afraid to be fun.
Billy, Freddy, Mary, Darla, Pedro and Eugene all combined their powers to make this show as legendary as the (missing) Black Adam, so make sure you take a break from jacking cop cars to check it out.
Also, there may or may not be caterpillars.
Lightning never strikes twice, so just say the word and bring your whole (foster) family to the table with UNT 74: Shazam!
Last weekend, we collectively watched probably 1000+ hours of wrestling. Not really, but it sure felt like it. And overall? Pretty good stuff. NXT was all killer / no filler (as per usual) with TakeOver New York. WrestleMania was the marathon of wrestling events, but mostly delivered the goods. New Japan Pro Wrestling brought their A-game, as well, despite Ring of Honor’s misguided efforts to be edgy or interesting or whatever.
Don’t worry – we won’t break down all the cards. That’d take forever and frankly – you wouldn’t want to hear it. But we do hit the highlights (and lowlights) of the weekend and its aftermath. Next week, things are about to shake up!
Before he packed up and went to New York City for Indymania 2, Captain Jack (@JackHeartless) received a cruel and unusual punishment from Zoey Jones (@ZHJ2000): She brought the worst TV movie ever made to the show for a watch-along.
Suffer along with the crew at https://youtu.be/1xuAyDc-rkQ if you dare, as they ponder why Jesse is wearing David Byrne’s suit, the ring announcer never ages (and neither does Kanyon), Goldberg wrestling in the ’80s, and…the LA Screwjob?!
The biggest weekend in wrestling each year is here! From WrestleMania to ROH x NJPW, NXT to Joey Janela’s infinite spring breaks… there’s something for everyone. This week, we get together with Rok and Neo from Mat Mania and break down the ROH card at The Garden, NXT, and the marathon that is Mania itself.
This week on the DATEScast, our snackologists/heroes once again traverse across the world to rate snacks for your viewing pleasure. This episode’s snack comes to us all the way from our friend Darrell Johnson, occasionally known as the Beast from the Middle East, with a package of snacks occasionally known as the Snacks from the Middle East. There are many things called ‘Nature’s Candy’, but we may have found it this week. On this episode of DATES, we are picking, eating, and rating a variety of…DATES!! IT’S AN ALL DATES DATES!!
Teacher, rapper, hero…pro wrestler? We have exclusive news from someone very close to Mega Ran that the Guinness Book of World Records holder will challenge 23-time tag team champion Bully Ray to a match at Ring of Honor’s G1 Supercard show under the bright lights and on the grand stage of “The World’s Most Famous Arena,” Madison Square Garden.
There has been rumblings that the Philadelphia born nerdcore rapper has been in training for something ever since his encounter with Bully Ray at ROH’s 17th Anniversary Show in Las Vegas. We can now confirm that this training is in preparation for his squared circle debut this Saturday. History will be made.
G1 Supercard takes place Saturday, April 6 from New York City and airs LIVE on pay-per-view and FREE for ALL HonorClub members! Join now at ROHHonorClub.com
Do you have the super-strength and the body of a gorilla? Can you throw a knife with expert precision? Maybe you’ve heard a rumor or can speak to the dead? Or maybe your body contains hideous, tentacled creatures? Perhaps you can simply teleport (sometimes through time) and are now trapped in the thirteen-year-old body of your former self. If any of that made sense to you, you’re probably familiar with The Umbrella Academy, the latest superhero/black comedy from Netflix.
Tasked by their billionaire-industrialist adoptive father, robotic mother and chimpanzee mentor, our trio of UNT-brella Academy members broke down, speculated on the future (and quite literally, the past) and tried to make sense of one of the most unique shows in recent television history.
So don’t deprive some village of their idiot, check out UNT 73 before you hear a certain rumor about violins.
