Can you believe it's almost Summer?!? I can't even believe I'm typing this! Honestly the change of the weather has brought me out of my winter funk, but that's another blog post. I feel refreshed and renewed. I've switched out my closet from winter to spring/summer and purged. Honestly I don't remember the last time I felt this good!
As I was perusing Lane Bryant for new looks, this super cute stripe dress popped up and it was an instant purchase. When I opened the package it was instant love. The dress fit's perfectly! Since I'm 5'7 it a little bit more midi fit on me. It's beyond comfortable and the smocking in the back provides such a great fit. I am between a size 20 and 22 and the 20 fit perfectly. Ohhh and did I mention it has pockets?!?!? I paired it with a flatform wedge to gem hoops to create a perfect Summer look.
To kick off this season I'm hosting a Summer Kick-Off Party at Lane Bryant Midtown Village in Tuscaloosa this weekend! Come by Saturday, May 4 from 2 to 4 and I will help you give you my summer style tips! Stop by and see me!
It doesn’t matter what time of the year it is, I’m always searching for the perfect pair of jeans. You know, a pair that’s comfortable, but not too stretchy. A pair that is perfectly distressed but not too distressed. A pair that has the right coloring for business but can easily be worn for causal wear. So as you can see my standards are wee bit high, but I spend a lot time in jeans so I want them to comfortable. And at one point plus-size denim wasn't the easiest to find, so when I find a pair I love I buy multiple pair of jeans!
When Lane Bryant asked me to partner them on their latest denim drop, I was all for the chance to try a new pair of jeans. I chose the Power Pocket Super Stretch Skinny Jean and I am not at all disappointed. The jeans met every one of my requirements, comfortable, not too stretchy with excellent structure. A perfect pair of jeans for work, running errands or heading for a night out. I paired them with this green utility jacket that works perfectly for the upcoming spring and summer months.Oh and this tank that I have on under this jacket was so comfortable that I promptly doubled back and purchased more of them in a few colors.
That’s not all folks! This Saturday in Tuscaloosa I am hosting a denim event! From 2-4 PM I will be in the Midtown Village Lane Bryant store discussing all things denim and fashion to anyone who will listen. Want me to style you? Come see me! Let’s find you the perfect pair of denim! I can’t wait to see everyone!!!

Hello from Vacation! I’m working with Babble Boxx to bring you a few new items that will makeover and transform the ways that you use everyday products!
Hands down these Earth Brand sneakers are the most comfortable women’s shoes that I’ve worn in a long time. I can’t begin to tell you how well cushioned these were for my wide feet. Personally I have a hard time finding sneakers that are supportive for my foot, most of them are so narrow. But not these they were so comfortable. Each Earth Brand shoe is inspired by their founder, Anne Kalso, who thought that wellness begins from the ground up! Earth Brand also plants a tree with each shoe purchase. Head over to their website to check these out!
If I’m being honest, I was terrified to try contact lenses. I’ve been avoiding them since I got glasses, but I don’t like touching my eye or dealing with anything that have to do with my eye. But the Aveo lenses are a game changer. They are extremely soft and fit my eye easier than I thought possible. They also seemed larger than the average contact lenses. Aveo contact lenses wants to change your experience not just how you order them, but also how they fit into your life. Aveo is a subscription service in which you can set up your monthly order of contact lenses that come straight to your door. The service is less than $1 a day and you get free shipping, free first month! I was throughly impressed with the service! Get your first box here.
The last item in my box was this Maidenform shaper is beyond comfortable! I’ve been searching for a shaper that is soft, with a few delicate details to smooth my body out and this is perfect. I also wore it under dresses and t-shirts to use as a bralette. We also know the invention of power mesh has changed the shape wear game up. Gone are the days that I feel like I’m struggling in my shape ware. This shaper has a cooling fabric and you can wear your own bra! I always hated finding a shaper that accommodated my body and my boobs and this one did for sure! Check it out here!
Trying new products is always fun, but trying new products that bring a improvement to my life is even better!
Stay tuned for new post in the next week! I can't wait to share fall content with you!
I often get asked what I think is missing from the plus-size clothing industry and my mind sometimes draws a blank. Honestly my closet is packed with so many amazing pieces, but I realized that I was missing the elevated basics that I so often craved. I don’t have a go-to t-shirt that I can’t live without and I don’t have great t-shirt dress that doesn’t just look blah on me. But that all changed when I was introduced to a new brand, See Rose Go.
See Rose Go is a new to the market plus size brand who is introducing elevated plus size basics. Things amazing pieces that you want to throw on daily and that fit for almost every occasion. When Erin, one of the founders of See Rose Go, reached out to me I was genuinely impressed with her passion for the plus size industry. I was blown away when she started discussing the CoolRose fabric that they created for their clothing. The CoolRose is a jersey knit that they developed using Coolmax fabric. Designed to be breathable/cooling, anti-pilling, comfortable and durable. I can’t think of anything that works better for my breakneck schedule.
The See Rose Go Team sent me over the Cool Rose My Favorite T-shirtwhich can be worn about a million ways. As a round neck, as a v-neck, casual, dressy and on and on. The Cool Rose My Go-To Dress is just that my go-to dress. I won’t tell you how much I’ve worn this since I received it. I requested a size 3 in both pieces and they fit me perfectly. For reference I’m a size 22/24 and They would work on a size 26/28 as well. I do hope they expand their size range eventually, because currently it stops at a size 3.
For you my dear reader team at See Rose Go is giving away two passes to the The Curvy Fashionista Style Expo in Atlanta to see their products first hand during the Expo! You can enter here for a chance to win!
Have you heard of See Rose Go? Isn't the CoolRose Jersey exciting? Don't forget to enter the contest!
Today is my 39th Birthday and as always I find myself being extremely reflective as I celebrate another year on Earth. If I'm can be honest, I'm in no way, shape or form where I thought I would be at this age. Yet at the same time, I regret nothing. If I never made the decisions I made I would never be the person I am today. And I have fallen in love this this incredibly flawed creature that I am
Over the past few weeks I've received so many hidden and not so hidden messages about manifesting the things you want in your life. I listened to pod cast and sermons on creating list to put your desires into the universe, and understanding that you are equipped you need to be successful. Its as almost as if the universe was conspiring to help me come to a few conclusions and to stop dragging my feet on key decisions that I've been avoiding like the plague. Often times I find myself getting anxious over making the right decisions, getting lost in the what could go wrong that I forget to just do it!
So as I prepare to make my 40th trip around the sun, I decided to create a list of 40 things I want to do before I turn 40. Cliche I know, but it was incredibly important for me to put somethings into the universe. Things that I have been scared to act on, things I forgot I wanted to do, things that I never thought I could accomplish. Is it entirely possible that I won't get these things done? Absolutely! It's also possible that I will do each and everyone of them!

Embrace more change
Be open to more possibilities

Don't let money get in the way of taking leaps of faith
Lead a Small Group at Church
Increase my savings
Dust off my Spanish speaking skills
Stop so much spontaneous spending on clothes
Have a blogging/fashion event
Get a second ear piercing (sorry again Mom)
Write my business plan out

One of the joys of having a blog is the built in accountability you get from putting intentions into the Universe. I am grateful for those of you who join on this journey. For those of you who have helped me accomplish so much. I am blessed beyond measure.
True story when I was in Lane Bryant shopping for this dress, a man tried to convince his wife to try on one of the polka dot dresses that I ended up leaving the store with and she absolutely refused. I could hear her whisper I would never wear that much print. I sighed and imagined having a Stacey London moment with her in the dressing room, but I could tell she was terrified to try the polka dots. Of course the antiquated rules of fashion have ingrained in so many women that the less print the better, I absolutely refuse to follow this rule. I will wear whatever print I want, whenever I want. Honestly even if I wore all black from head to toe I would still look like I was size 22, cause I am.
Now that my rant is over, this year is truly the year of the polka dot. I am soooo very happy to see one of my favorite prints in full effect all over the place. I'm also really happy to see the plus-size market on trend, on time for once. It's nice to be fashionable at the same time is everyone else! I went in Lane Bryant a few weeks ago and fell in love with two dresses and almost picked between the two, but my Instagram followers made me see reason and I bought both dresses. Because honestly I would have regretted not buying them. This one was so fun and I loved the two sizes of polka dot and the fact that it can be worn dressy or casually.
I went with a size 22/24, for a little bit of room, but the 18/20 fit fine as well. Since polka dots are so classic I know won't regret going a bit over board adding items to my collection. Have you bought any polka dot pieces this summer? How do you feel about them? Below I've added a few other polka dot items that I've picked up this summer so far.
Let me start off by saying I'm sorry for this post in advance. This dress is more thank likely sold out and for that I'm really sorry. It's been returning back to stock weekly, so there is still a chance you could pick it up. It's always a blogger's nightmare to post about something that sold out, but I love these shots so much, and this dress to I wanted to share it with y'all.
A few summers ago I saw a favorite blogger of mine wearing a dress like this, and when I saw pictures of Gabrielle Union floating around in one, I hoped and prayed the NY& Co XXL would fit (and that was a super strong prayer y'all). As soon as I realized it was coming in plus sizes I jumped all over it! When I say I jumped all over it. I stopped what I was doing (driving) and bought this dress. My biggest fear was what size I needed, but after consulting the size chart I went with the 3x.
Whenever a brand launches a plus collection, the first thing I do is go and look at the size chart. Since I shop online so much, I rely heavily on size charts. I also keep tape measures everywhere (office, house, car) so I can get my measurements periodically. My midsection is heavier than my upper body and legs I solely purchase based on that part of my body. When I looked online I could tell in pictures that this dress was fitted in the middle and loose up top so I ordered my size accordingly. There is nothing worse that ordering a size and having it fit everywhere, expect for where you need it to fit. So shopping for my hips and tummy are important for me.
It was a huge sigh of relief when it fit exactly the way I wanted it! Maybe that was a squeal or scream hmmm. I know it was happiness! This dress will live in my closet forever y'all. I do mean forever. Again I'm sorry if you didn't get it! We are going to keep our eye out for restocking and returns. I have seen several of my fellow influencers wear this dress and it hasn't looked bad on anyone, not anyone.
What part of your body do you shop for? Mine has changed it used to be my chest area, but now it's shifted to my midsection. Tell me all about it! Thank you for reading! You are appreciated. J
When your schedule get’s super busy it’s so hard to decide if you have time for a vacation or if a staycation might do the trick! Don’t get me wrong I love a vacation, but when I need a quick get away or some time to myself a simple staycation will do the trick. No matter which one you choose having some downtime is extremely important. I’ve partnered with Babblebox to bring share with you a few products that are perfect for a vacay or a staycay!
Now y’all know I love a great subscription box, especially when it exposes me to new products that I think are amazing! Here is a peak at what’s in the box:
Not sure about y’all but the first thing I do when I get home is take off my bra and put on something comfortable. The first item in my box was the Bali Comfort Revolution Bra from Bali Intimates, now comes with cool comfort fabric that wicks moister and helps to keep you cool and comfortable. It’s seamless design gives you complete comfort and it’s super flexible. Cause who wants to be uncomfortable while they are relaxing. I got an XL in this bra so I wasn’t able to try it, but it looks and feels amazing!
Self-care for me always involves peace and skin care. There is nothing I love more than a beauty treatment. Bellame: Acqua Lumiere Hydrating Moisturizer and & Eye Cream Both are lightweight moisturizer that you can use both night and day to target fine lines and wrinkles. The eye cream helps with puffiness and after a few weeks I saw a huge difference in the fine lines that are developing around my face and eyes. I am a huge fan of anything with hyaluronic acid, especially since I have dry skin. I would recommend this for anyone who is concerned with aging or who has dry skin. You can go to www.bellame.com to learn more about the product.
Along with skin care, hair care is my second favorite self-care practice. With the OMM Thickening Hair Mask & Oil. The hair mask is thick, rich and super conditioning. The Oil is a leave in treatment that is light, non-greasy and nourishing. After a day in the pool, slept in the oil treatment and my hair thanked me for taking the extra step. Both treatment are excellent for anyone who wants to thickening and treat their hair. For more info on the hair products go to www.OMMCollection.com
Who vacays without wine? Not me! Faustino I Gan Reserva, Bodega Faustino is Spain’s largest producer Gran Reserva wines. It is a wonderful blend of Tempranillo, Graciano & Mazuelo that ages 26 months in French and American oak barrels and at least 3 years in the bottle. It was soooo good! I mean I can’t say how good it was! For more information on their wines you can go to www.bodegafaustino.com/us.
I would rather be reading at all times. There is nothing I love more than losing myself in a great book and My Ex-Life by Stephen McCauley did not disappoint! It was such an easy, fun summer read. I was so happy when I found this in my box, I really felt like Babblebox got me! You can pick up your copy here!
And no vacation is complete without sunscreen and mosquito repellent. It’s an added bonus that it’s the deet free mosquito repellent. The repellent is cruelty-free and the sunstick is reef-safe with non-nano zinc. And if you purchase this you can use the code BABBLEBOX05 to get 10% off from now until September 30th. Y'all life is hard, but getting dressed shouldn't be. The last thing anyone needs is to stand in front of their closets with dread on a daily basis. Our lives are filled daily with so many ups and downs, the last thing you want is a wardrobe filled with things that make you feel anything but joy. I'm no Marie Kondo (just one look in my room would let you know this), but I'm deeply moved by owning things that make me happy. I look at my closet as constantly changing work of art. Complete with functional and nonsensical items that make me extremely happy for different reasons. Buying items that are easy to wear, comfortable and versatile should bring you joy and peace. Having those go too items make it so easy to get dressed.
One of these joyous items is this black dress from The Who What Wear Collection that brought me immense joy the second I saw it in stores. I knew it was the perfect black dress to get me through the summer. Perfect silhouette, breathable fabric, neutral color, delicate detailing, pockets and it was under $40! The absolute perfect dress for me to wear to work, church, lunch, brunch, drinks, you get my drift. I can't lie I was super tempted to buy it in the white as well, but I didn't.
I've had this dress on a bit of repeat since I got it! It wears so well in the sweltering Alabama heat. So does your closet fill you with joy? Or do you dread it when it's time to get dressed? Have you filled with items that make it easy to get dressed? Or are you triggered just thinking about it? Let's talk about it!
Thank you so much for reading! You are appreciated!
