A year ago, I tried my first fire cupping session to see if it would melt away stress and anxiety. I love trying alternative healing methods and Fire cupping is the most traditional, form of Chinese medicine. It uses glass cups and fire to create suction and pull out toxins, knots and revive achy muscles. Within, the first two minutes of my session, I felt the type of zen you get from an hour long massage and I was hooked. Is it painful? Although it may look like it is, it is anything but. In fact, you can have your practitioner also adjust the pressure of the cups in case it’s tugging too much at the skin and giving you discomfort. The cups are moved around the body as well to release all tension.

Other benefits that cupping can offer someone is: improved blood circulation, relieves body pain, stiff muscles, fatigue, migraines, cellulite, anxiety and more.

Some people like myself bruise ( as you can see below )and it can take a few days to sometimes weeks for it to disappear. If you are planning on having sun exposure. It isn’t a good idea to get cupped before or after. After the procedure, cupping marks can sting for the first hour, but after any discomfort dissipates.

Cupping is a safe and easy way to start feeling better today. If you live in Miami, definitely check out my go to spot: Mahima Wellness. This no frills center is located in Kendall and the practitioners like Madelyn are amazing at cupping. The center is currently having a sale this month on different packages. You can also call here: (305) 596-0858 to learn more.

If you love coffee and motorcycles than Selina Brawlers is one of Miami’s coolest cafes to get your caffeine fix. The vegan friendly spot which is decorated with vintage theater seats, plush leather couches and breathtaking antique bikes also has an impressive menu. There’s CBD infused cold brew and vegan friendly Tumeric almond lattes to spinach empanadas. The service is fast and the vibe is laid back. Whether it’s to come solo and do some remote work or come with friends and catch up, this Wynwood spot is a breath of fresh air in the noisy neighborhood. I stopped by to scope it out and was welcomed instantly and given the wifi code with a smile. I felt instantly at home.

There were a few people working quietly on the computers as I leafed through old photography books and gushed at the decor which although is all so instagram friendly definitely emits an era pre-social media.

There’s an even a store that sells tees, beard pomade, and fragrant candles.

A few months ago, my body started rejecting regular tampons. It was overnight and I do believe that my body was protecting me. I thought it was a “tampon” thing to be honest so I switched to Thinx underwear which I love and still use, but I do love having options and I wanted to see if I could try tampons again. After, a visit to Target I found a whole aisle filled with different kinds of organic tampons. It was a little overwhelming. I didn’t know which ones to buy. The L. brand stood out to me for many reasons, they are the same price of regular tampons, the label was pretty clear on why they were a safe and I love the packing. Plus, this brand donates to women in need around the world which shows how much they really do care about us and our well being. My health like your wellness is a priority. Why regular tampons with these ingredients are still being sold is mind blowing. I urge you to explore organic tampons and really read the labels. In good health,  xx TFP

Jungle Island is one of the special places in the world where many rescue animals are rehabilitated and taken care of. I got to experience the VIP tour which lets patrons pay a little more to get an up close intimate encounter with several of the wildlife. This 1 on 1 experience is so worth it especially since all the funds go back into helping these animals further. If you are looking for a special way to spend a birthday or anniversary, this is the way to make it unforgettable.

Here are some of the images from the VIP Encounter.

Holding this baby rescue monkey was so special. He was so tiny and sweet. Another adorable orphan at Jungle Island is Milkshake who lost his mama while she was giving birth to him. Luckily, the other animals in his pen have adopted him and as you can see from the picture he is doing just great. He saw the camera come out stuck his tongue out.

Now, there are also older animals like the tortoises.  These guys have been around for over 100 years. I was expecting them to be a little stand-offish, but they wanted the same thing as the babies. Lots of food and a lot of affection. Too cute!

The most playful and funny of the bunch were definetely the red ruffed lemurs and the black and white ones. Sadly, these rescues are slowly disappearing because of deforestation. Hopefully, we can change that soon.

Now, of course there are plenty more of animals to interact with like the flamingos which we got to feed. There was also a crocodile encounter and I was so nervous, but he was not interested in having us in his area that day so I didn’t get to feed him.

After the tour, you can walk around and experience the rest of the animals. Are you ready to get up and close? Check out how to book the VIP Tour HERE

When it comes to cool cafes, L.A. has plenty, but Coffee Dose is a special spot that can nix away all “bitchy-ness” with their Rx Lattes and sweets. Feeling extra moody? No problem! They have loads of “Anti Bitch” options to zen you out like the The Mary Matcha which is supercharged with CBD or The Goldie which is what I ordered. Mine didn’t have CBD, but I will tell you since they use organic ingredients in their concoctions (like raw honey, charcoal, turmeric, rose, lavender and more) everyone comes out feeling extra warm and fuzzy. Located on Melrose, this cute cafe is a must stop not because it’s instagram worthy with its girly pastel pink tables, decor and menu, but because they are legit delicious and healthy, too. Check out: Coffee Dose

This past weekend, I flew out to Los Angeles to the “We All Grow Latina” conference to host a special dinner with Surterra Wellness. I decided to extend my trip and go on a road trip with Chevy in and around Los Angeles. Driving alone in a new city can be a little overwhelming, but Chevy’s Traverse gave me all the confidence, I needed –thanks to all its safety features, roomy interior and smooth ride.

The Traverse is so comfortable inside. It’s the perfect car to take on an adventure solo or with your family. I was accompanied by my dog, Elmo for this trip. He loved to snuggle up in the seat next to me.

If you’ve never driven through L.A. it is one of the most congested traffic areas in the country and you gotta be really alert. The Traverse is so ideal for L.A. and road trips in general. It alerts you if you can change lanes or not with its side mirrors. Plus, it also lets you know if you’re too close to another car. Features like that are what we all need to keep ourselves safe and our loved ones.

From desert meditations at Joshua tree to hiking at Griffith Observatory to shopping at Melrose and heading to work, the Traverse made my road trip easy, fun and memorable. Here are some of the spots, Elmo and I made it to.

Joshua Tree National Park  - Two hours away, from Los Angeles, Joshua Tree is one spot you won’t want to miss. It. is worth the drive for its beauty and  hiking trails. According to some, it is also known for being a spiritual vortex that lets you manifest things quicker into the universe. I came to explore and meditate. Make sure to eat before arriving inside. There’s some healthy bites and fast food spots before getting in, but at the park there is no food as there are wild animals. I brought Elmo with me as dogs are allowed, but only in certain areas. You can drive and park alongside the street and get off and explore as you like. Be sure to take plenty of water, apply sunscreen and get ready to experience this magical spot. The fee to get in is $30 per car.

Griffith Park Observatory- is known as Southern California’s gateway to the cosmos. There’s telescopes, live shows in the planterium, and beautiful views of L.A. and the Hollywood Sign. Down below, fuel up at Trail’s Cafe. They have healthy vegetarian and non veggie bites. There’s outdoor seating. I was happy to meet up with L.A. friends to do this fun hike and nosh at the cafe. We started our hike up from there which is exactly 2 miles round trip and it’s relatively easy, but it is recommended to wear sneakers. We also took our doggies. There’s so many on the hike, too. Visiting here is free.

Freehand Hotel Rooftop- one of the prettiest rooftop bars to visit with pool and all is the Freehand’s in downtown Los Angeles. It is called the Broken Shaker. On Saturday night, there is a line to get in, but other evenings, it is easy to get in. I went on a Sunday and it is gorgeous for sunset watching. The bar has really cute drinks, too. As far as parking, the hotel has valet and there’s nearby parking garages. I also stayed here for 2 nights and it is pet-friendly. It has a really cool 70s vibe. The staff was great. There’s a restaurant, cafe, gym and pool. Broken Shaker is free to get in.

Thank you to Chevy for making my road trip possible and helping me make wonderful new memories. If you haven’t experienced the Chevy’s Traverse. I promise you, it is life changing. It is the smoothest SUV ride, I’ve ever experienced.

I have a sweet-tooth and trying USA Today’s top pie parlor like Pinky Pie that serves up mini pies for all lifestyles was a treat. They have vegan, gluten free and regular options making it a perfect spot to take out or dine in with friends and fam. They also do catering for events. The Flavors are fun. There’s Fruity Pebbles, Birthday Cake and Oreo Nutella. When it comes to vegan and gluten free there’s  delicious Coconut  Dulce de Leche and Guava & Cheese.

This instagrammable bakery blends millennial pink with urban jungle and plays hiphop. There’s a few seats and tables to nosh at as well as a big plush leather couch.

Pie isn’t the only thing that Pink Pie serves up. There’s a complete coffee menu including my favorite: Matcha. They offer almond milk for non diary drinkers.

I must admit this Matcha latte is one of the best I’ve had in Miami. It has the right amount of caffeine, almond milk and matcha for good vibes.

Did you know that matcha has been shown in research to boost metabolism, and stop the growth of cancer cells? Pretty cool right. I fell in love with matcha a few years ago during a trip to Thailand.

Well, I hope I’ve convinced you to check out this cute bakery in Miami that is all about portion control and healthy eating. Being healthy is about balance, so enjoy the sweet life, too.

What: The Body Shop Tea Tree Scrub

Why: Tea Tree Oil is known to help combat acne and the occasionally breakout. It’s also been proven to be as effective as Benzoyl Peroxide which is the most common anti-acne medicine.

Review:  It’s 100% a breakout busting scrub and I love it.  After a week of breakouts, I decided, I needed a quick remedy that would work. So I picked up  Vegan cruelty free Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil Scrub and was astounded to see my bumps quickly disappearing with just one use. Four days, later my complexion is almost clear. I can’t wait to see what it will look like in a week.

Pros: It works, it’s vegan and cruelty free.

Cons: It scored a 7 on ThinkDirty App, but right now it’s working so I will continue to use.
