Manila, Philippines. 18 July 2019 –You better have gone to the beach already or have enjoyed the sun in your manysummer parties because it’s official: the rainy season is here. The sound of raindrops on the roof will now be your background music while the series of puddles on the road will be your obstacle courseon the way to work.
But don’t let the gloomy weather rain on your parade. Here’s a list of things you can do to stay warm, cozy and cheerful during this cold and wet season.
Keep warm this sweater weather with the perfect comfort food
Push away the cold and satisfy your cravings brought by the season with a hot bowl of soup. A goodbowl oframen, rice porridge, chicken soup or champorado paired with dried fish will definitely bring warmth to any bed weather day.
The steamy meal will not only boost your energy but lift your spirit almost instantly as well.
Enjoy live music in a local gig
Pinoys love their music, and no drizzle can dampen an audiophile’s thirst for a gig! Ramp up your music streaming experience by catching your favorite OPM band in a local gig.
Sing your heart out to mellow tunes and capture the moment on your phone while sharing new music recommendations to your loved ones and friends.
Forecast is cloudy with a chance of binge-watching
The rainy weather outside is the perfect excuse for the isang-episode-na-lang Netflix marathon. Your Stranger Things squad Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Steve and Max have just gotten back, and they can’t wait for you to join them in their string of fun, exciting – yet somehow scarily gross – new adventures.
Better get yourself a widescreen smartphone with a large-capacity battery so you will not miss out the EP everyone is talking about.
P.S: Get those tissues ready.
Finding joy in the little things
Always have your umbrella and raincoat with you. Be ready for a sudden downpour, but do not forget to savor the moment. Be it with friends, partners or just yourself, a short frolic under the rain would not hurt.
So for a short while, let the 7-year old in you enjoy your feet getting wet or your hair getting damp. A dance under the rain could be the one thing to lift your spirits on a cold and rainy day.

Andy Park, one of Marvel’s go-to-guys for art for Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently released a cool Black Widow concept art featuring our heroine doing battle with a new classic baddie.
So what do we know so far about the upcoming Black Widow movie.
For starters, we have the official Black Widow logo which you can see below:
The movie is also set for release May 1, 2020 and will star Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenie and Rachel Weisz. Cate Shortland will direct the film under Marvel Studios.

One of the surprising announcements from SDCC 2019 comes in the form of Thor 4 which has now an official title – Thor: Love and Thunder.
And we all know that director Taika Waititi recently delayed production of Warner Bros’ Akira adaptation to start work on Thor: Love and Thunder.
During the Marvel Studios panel at Hall H, its also been made official that Thor star and MIB International topbillers Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will be reprising their roles as Thor Odinson and Valkyrie respectively.
That’s not all, Natalie Portman is also set to return as Jane Foster. The big twist is that she’s set to become the new goddess of thunder too.
This may come as a shock to casual moviegoers but the female Thor has been a thing already for quite some time. In the comics, Jane Foster became the new Thor after the events of Original Sin.
The series was written by Jason Aaron with art by Russell Dauterman, who also brought us the recently concluded War of the Realms.
Now the question is whether Waititi would follow some of the story beats from the Aaron book including Jane Foster having cancer and the use of Mjolnir only kills her physical body.
Time will tell. For now, let’s enjoy the fact that they would be doing a female Thor movie with Natalie Portman to boot.
With the Philippines ranking 1st in terms of spending time on social media, it becomes more difficult to disconnect when needed and find the right balance between the online and offline world. Research suggests that staying glued to your phone can take a toll on your wellbeing, and that’s why it is important to develop a set of smart digital habits. Here are five ways to help you jumpstart your digital detox journey:
Start and end your day by not immediately going online
Many smartphone users check their phones first thing in the morning and before going to bed instead of stretching or meditating. To start a better habit, you can place your phone on a cabinet or a table where you cannot reach it. If you’re like most people who use their phone for alarm, you should invest in an actual alarm clock and put it near your bed.
Limit yourself to one screen or tab at a time
Whether in the office or at home, it’s easy to get distracted from your task when there are multiple tabs open. While multitasking helps get the work done, it also tempts you to scroll through social media. According to TeamLease World of Work Report, employees spend an average of 2.35 hours going through social media at work, leading to 13% productivity loss. If you want to be more productive, you should practice looking at only one screen at a time so you can concentrate and finish a task faster.
Turn your phone interface to black and white mode
Research shows that our brains are stimulated by bright colors. This explains why we find it so hard to resist checking or playing with our phones. By turning our screen to greyscale, we would be less drawn to our mobile devices and eventually, we will be able to manage the time we spend with it better.
Observe social media dieting throughout the day
Just like one of the most original pieces of advice on dieting, the key is having small portions. Instead of abruptly shutting down your access to social networks, decrease your time online and allocate it to more productive activities like reading. Make small commitments like using 30 minutes of your time away from social media to read 10 pages of a book each day. You will be surprised how many books you can finish in a year!
Manage your online activities with Digital Wellbeing
Technology should not distract you or take your attention away from the important things in life. To help you create healthy digital habits, Google has a helpful feature called Digital Wellbeing Dashboard for Android phones running on Android 9 Pie. With the Dashboard, you can view how much time you use each app on your phone on a daily basis. It also lets you put a limit on how much you will use each app by setting timers and reminders to take a break.
The Digital Wellbeing Dashboard is currently available on Pixel and Android One phones running on Android 9 Pie. For more information on Digital Wellbeing tools and programs, visit https://wellbeing.google/.
It has been sometime since actor Brandon Routh was seen as Superman. Nowadays we know him as Ray Palmer aka The Atom in the CW series Legends of Tomorrow. But its been revealed in SDCC 2019 that he will be returning as Superman once more.
Routh was the Superman in the early 2000s were he played the role of Superman and Clark Kent in Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns opposite Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor.
Below you’ll see another photo of Routh revealing his Kingdom Come Superman shirt during the CW/ Arrowverse panel at SDCC 2019.
Kingdom Come is the classic story written by Mark Waid with art by Alex Ross set in a distant future where the young heroes have become ruthless and violent forcing the older generation led by Superman to leave retirement and force these young upstarts.
In between this, there’s also Batman and Lex Luthor’s groups with their agendas.
The CW aka the Arrowverse is going through a new crossover called Crisis on Infinite Earths which will involves Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl. New series Batwoman will be joining the story as well with Ruby Rose as Batwoman leading front and center.
Singer Yeng Constantino recently shared a vlog on her youtube channel where she called out a doctor for not being able to “effectively” help her and her husband out after getting injured while on vacation in Siargao.
Check out the video below:
Traumatic Experience in Siargao Hospital. - YouTube
Below is one particular comment on her Youtube vlog which was also shared as a screenshot by the Facebook page Chronicles of M.D.
The commenters handle has been blurred out by the original poster but tge Facebook page we sourced this from had this to say:
I have always been expressive of my admiration of doctors to the Barrios/ doctors assigned to far-flung areas. I know that being a doctor is very difficult, what more if youre working in an institution wherein there is lack of “ideal set-up” like medicines/equipments/ laboratory tests and even manpower?
This celebrity judged the doctor who treated her GCS 15 with stable vital signs husband for being calm while reading the user’s Manual of a machine that they seemed to use for the first time JUST FOR THEM. She posted a Photo of the doctor without her consent and mentioned the doctor’s full name on her social media account because she was Not satisfied with the Service given to her GCS 15 with stable vital signs husband. She’s using her “celebrity status” to get sympathy and bully this healthcare worker who did her job.
I am disappointed as Ive heard a lot of good things about this celebrity. But then again, this happened. Its like saying a doctor is “naglilipad ng attitude” and “lacks urgency” while Not giving credit to all the lives she saved, the people she helped (including your husband), the sacrifices she made and the hard work she has done despite of this far from ideal situation. I Judge you just from this single scenario. How does that feel?
Here’s another comment from a local who reportedly worked with Constantino and her husband.
So what do you guys think? Who do you think was wrong or right in this situation?
Academy award winner Mahershala Ali cast as the new Blade dor a new movie under Marvel Studios.
The “Green Book” actor was called led out during the Marvel Studios Phase 4 panel in this year’s San Diego Comic Con 2019.
Here’s a look at the official logo for the new Blade movie.
No word yet on when the film will be released or who’s directing it but the casting of Ali along is as juicy as the neck of a vampire’s unfortunate victim.
Wondering though how much they’ll be taking from the previous Blade movie which starred Wesley Snipes as the Daywalker. That was a franchise that ran for three movies concluding with Blade Trinity.
Over the years since he returned to Hollywood, Snipes had been actively campaigning to get the Blade role again. But that campaign may not have ended anywhere. He did get a nice cameo as a daywalking vampire in “What we do in the Shadows” TV series together with other vampire actors like Tilda Swinton and even Danny Trejo.
Meanwhile the comic book character Blade has also gone through some big status quo changes namely officially becoming a member of The Avengers. He was called in to help out the team with the rising crisis of a vampire civik war. With two forces currently fighting for dominance. On one side we have the classic Dracula and on the other side we have rhe new character Shadow Colonel who has given the team a lot of trouble as of late.
