Every year when Father’s Day rolls around, I mostly ignore it.

My parents separated when I was two and my dads not been in my life much since then.

In the few conversations we’ve had in my life, I gather that he’s busy feeling guilty about his mistakes, and he mulls over them while chain smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper.

I remember the first time a friend suggested to me that perhaps I was affected by not having a dad.

My immediate response was defense. I can see now that my younger self feared that if I admitted that perhaps not having a father impacted me, that I was admitting that I was fucked up.

So, I’ve spent the majority of my life not thinking too much about it, and mostly pretending it doesn’t really matter. I mean, after all, its all I’ve ever known.

In my thirties I spent a lot of time on a therapist’s couch, and there all the pain + sadness + loss had a safe space to bubble forth. I cried a lot + finally owned that for my two-year old self, it likely mattered a lot that my dad left and never really came back. (In fact, it felt like a crushing blow.)

Today, on Father’s Day, at the start of my forties, I want to take a moment to allow myself to share how it feels to be a fatherless child.

I don’t really have a dad. I never have.

I actually don’t fully understand or comprehend what that even means.

When I’m in the midst of big events, such as moving, sometimes I fantasize about having one. I imagine he’d come over with his truck and help with the big stuff. (Is that what dad’s do?)

At other times, when things are rough with my family or my mom, I imagine what it would be like to have someone else take my side, stick up for me, or just get what it’s like for me.

And then, there are moments where I wonder how one could not have a relationship with their child and seemingly not care enough about that to do anything different.

Being the spiritual woman that I am, I often settle on accepting things as they are. I don’t spend too much time lamenting what could have been, I mean…what’s the point?

My life is as it is and what’s done is done.

I know that I look at my little girl, and when I see her in her papa’s arms, I feel happy. I am glad to know that she knows a father’s love and that she’ll grow up with two parents, with two different perspectives, that will help her to be whole + wise.

As for me, I don’t have a dad. I never really did. And I’m really glad if you do, that seems mighty special.

And, if you’re like me, and you didn’t, well then, we don’t know too much about all this, do we?

The heart’s a funny thing.

I’m crying as I write this. I feel sad, but it’s not for anything other than just acceptance of what my life has brought me- some really great treasures and some painful spots that hurt sometimes, but just like you, I’m doing my best.

I guess sometimes I wish I had a dad. But if I did, I wouldn’t be me, now would I? So I guess I don’t really, after all. Confusing, right?

In its simplest form, I guess I have the wisdom now to know that not having a dad didn’t fuck me up, it’s just part of my story. Its my karma, my life this go-round + it ultimately doesn’t mean anything, save for the meaning I give it.

I didn’t grow up with a dad.

Maybe that’s sad. Maybe it’s a blessing. Truth be told, he’s not so great to be around. So maybe the fact that I’m a fatherless child is a gift from God.

It’s the paradox of life, isn’t it…our greatest wounds…as our greatest gifts…

To you and yours,

xo

One session with Rachel is worth 10 with a traditional therapist!
Her gift is amazing and spot on. Her kindness comes through her voice, yet she feels very strong, focusing on what’s best for you, instead of what you may want to hear. There was much healing done during my reading; I felt much lighter at the end of it, and very hopeful. Please note: I found Rachel online, have never met her in person, and don’t know anyone who knows her. It was a leap of faith, and I am very grateful I called her. She’s absolutely genuine!

I started watching Downton Abbey. What took me soooo long?

Oh, man. It’s like a great book. Mixed with a juicy Soap Opera and a dash of historical fiction. And the clothes. Oh, the clothes!

I’m in love. Well, I was…for three full seasons until they killed off one of my favorite characters. Now I’m just depressed.

I’m having lots of thoughts about women, and our history, and how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go to be fully honored with equal rights in all ways.

However, its cleared up a lot around why I struggle sometimes in mamahood.

You see, Downton Abbey is about an family of Aristocrats and their relationships…including all the service people downstairs.

We see so much about race, class, gender and what was expected and how that’s how people with wealth and power maintain said wealth and power- ensuring that there is inequality. You can’t have the wealthy family in power without someone being below them and NOT in power. Fascinating.

Yet, that’s beyond the point I’m making here today. Today, I simply want to point out that in Downton Abbey, there are cooks, housemaids, chauffeurs, gardeners, etc.

It’s no wonder the modern day mama can feel so depressed, isolated and TIRED.

I’m doing it wrong. I’m the gardener, the cook, the house cleaner, the full-time mama, and the CEO. Turns out, I’m supposed to have someone else for each of those tasks. Ah-ha!

Well, I’m not saying I’m in support of servants or going backward, but this is what the tribe provides. The mamas you know today are modern day warriors and we’re often doing at least 5 full-time jobs, on little sleep.

My point? Praise, support and love the mamas you know. Ask what you can do. Surely there’s something, and it’s likely small and little and EVER so helpful.

Reach out to those with small children. Meet up for a chat at the park. Join in for a walk.

Let’s stay connected and support one another wherever we can.

All my love,

xo

Rachel Claire

P.S. If you’re a Downton Abbey fan, leave a message below and let me know. Is it worth it to go on? Can I make it? Does it get better? How could they!?

And if you’re not into Downton, are you a mama? What would help create tribe and support for you? Leave a note, let me know, I love to hear from you!

It’s my birthday today and I’m celebrating! Here’s what I say I know after 40 years…

1. Sometimes, the things that we MOST fear, that we most put off, bring us the greatest joy. (Having Sophia at 38!)
2. Little risk = little reward
3. If you have the desire in your heart, it’s your to create + you can have it! Trust that! Believe! Go for it!
4. Love is accepting people as they are and exactly as they’re are not. And this can be HARD.
5. Alone time is when my greatest visions are had and biggest dreams are born.
6. Sleep. Sleep some more.
7. If you’re not energetically cleaning your space as a spiritual being in a body, you’re likely carrying around things that make your load a bit heavy. Energy work, whatever the flavor, is da bomb!
8. You have the right to change your mind.
9. But don’t be flaky. When you can come through, do. Honoring your word is powerful.
10. Joy is the greatest pleasure.
11. Play
12. People will fall away + won’t like you sometimes, let them go, they’re not your people.
13. If he’s your guy, he’ll show up, if he doesn’t, not your guy.
14. We’re stronger than we know.
15. Natural childbirth is totally beautiful and totally doable. Don’t be afraid.
16. We’re all psychic.
17. Claiming my weirdness and what makes me different earns me more money.
18. Writing is one of my greatest loves.
19. Flowers, trees and water are too.
20. I LOVE romantic, historical shows like Pride and Prejudice and Downton Abbey.
21. Reading is my solace.
22. My bed is one of my happiest places.
23. You have to set boundaries and it’s hard.
24. Many people will emotionally abuse you and no one will recognize it or own it. And you’ll have to figure out how to love your self in spite of what they say.
25. Dancing is soul medicine.
26. We need more nature time.
27. We also need more time doing nothing.
28. We women can learn a lot from tracking our cycles and paying attention to the cycles of the moon.
29. A woman’s greatest hindrance to success is likely tied up with her mother wound.
30. Forgiveness is the answer.
31. Love is too.
32. Music and drumming bring magic through to the earth and take us on rides to alternate dimensions.
33. We’ve got to get out of the drama cycle- victim, perpetrator, rescuer.
34. I really love Golden Retrievers and I hope I’m willing to have one before I die.
35. I really really really want to publish a book and it’s time. I really want you to read my book and I hope you like it.
36. Discipline is hard.
37. Meditation is necessarry.
38. Honey makes everything better.
39. Vulnerability sucks and is scary but it lets people in and it’s necessary for real connection.
40. We’re all afraid of being seen but we long for it deeply. We just want to be gotten.

41. (Because as my mama always says, it’s really your 41st year!) Listen to people. Just LISTEN.

Thank you for reading! What’s one of your nuggets of wisdom? I’d love to hear, leave it in the comments below.

xo

Rachel Claire

P.S. BONUS! One more…because…it’s MY BIRTHDAY!

we truly are all ONE source, ONE consciousness…the ONE LOVE manifested in various forms and our greatest suffering is our illusion of our separateness from GOD. We’re all remembering and coming HOME to GOD. This is my most favorite song this year.

Hearing Sophia sing “Adi Shakti…” warms my heart!

GOD IS LOVE. YOU ARE GOD.

This year, now that Sophia is two, Easter has taken on new levels of fun and joy. I’ve always recognized this time of year as a celebration of the return of the fertility of the earth. I’ve also thought about the story of the resurrection of Christ and all that symbolizes.

However, now, in our new home, it’s a celebration of springtime. We’ve spent this week getting a hummingbird feeder, bird bath, and planting our garden. I look forward to each new year, where it will be a time of preparing the yard and the garden, and celebrating the birds returning and all things new.

The resurrection is a rebirth of life, of fertility. This holiday is an ancient one, that originally celebrated the Goddess. Now, of course, it’s popularly viewed as a Christian holiday, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, from his death on the cross.

I’d like to take this time to share what I believe about Christ, and what the resurrection means for me on deeper levels.

I believe in Christ Consciousness.

To me, God, is in all of us, we are all created from the ONE source. Christ consciousness, this source, is LOVE, pure light.

I think that our purpose here on earth, as spiritual beings in bodies, is to resurrect the light of love and bring it through us here, and now, on earth.

I believe that love, joy, kindness, forgiveness, these beautiful qualities that we can attain and embody, are examples of Christ Consciousness.

When we are conscious, when we are awake and aware and choose to operate as spiritual beings of love and light, we are embodying the essence of the Christ, Christ Consciousness, the teachings of Jesus.

From what I’ve read and understand, through the stories that are told, Jesus was a man. It seems we know that he was a Jewish man, who taught about love, kindness, forgiveness. He embodied the energy of Christ.

When he died on the cross, and was resurrected, he was showing that we are not mortal bodies that die, but everlasting spirits, energy, that goes on forever. He was teaching that even if someone casts stones, and nails us to the cross, we can forgive and love, “for they know not what they do.”

This teacher, Jesus, was sent forth as an Ascended Master, to enlighten humanity about LOVE. This is Christ Consciousness.

I think we’re meant to learn the lessons from this story, more than we’re meant to argue over who he was, or what are the correct teachings, or what religion should we follow??

I think we’re meant to embody the loving energy of Christ, to be Christ-like in our own lives, to recognize that we’re spiritual souls, here to grow and evolve and learn, and we do so by forgiving others, casting no stones, loving, and living our lives in accordance with this high vibration.

So, when I speak of high vibes, or being enlightened, or love and light, I’m speaking of Christ Consciousness. I’m talking about living our lives as Christ, the awakened ONE within.

I don’t think we’re meant to follow a religion, or dogma, or stay tied to the Bible, which likely has been mis-interpreted.

I do think we’re meant to live as Christ lived, awake, aware and in love, knowing that we’re all the sons and daughters of God, the one Source of all that is, here to forgive and love one another as our brothers and sisters.

Right now, for Sophia, Easter is about eggs and bunnies and springtime and birds.

In the future, I can teach her how it’s about fertility, springtime, the Goddess…an ancient celebration of the cycles of the earth and nature and a celebration of growth and resurrection of the grass and the flowers and LIFE after the sallow of winter.

And then, as she grows even older, we’ll talk about Christ, and the resurrection, as a story that reflects our eternal nature, as children of God, and that we’re all Christ, we’re all meant to live a life of awakened LOVE.

Whatever you believe, and however you choose to celebrate, I hope that you revel in the joy and beauty of life here on earth and rest easy in knowing that you’re an eternal spirit, sourced by something greater than you that is LOVE!

May you be blessed with the eternal, loving bounty of your truth, and the over-flowing abundance of life here on earth, and everywhere in Spirit! To infinity and beyond!

All my love,

XO

Rachel Claire

I saw many people talking about Tony Robbins and what he said at a recent event.

I watched the video.

Here’s where I’m coming from. I’ve lived through domestic violence. I’ve called the police, more than once, on more than one significant other.

I know what it is to be harassed and abused, both physically, mentally and emotionally.

I also see where Tony is coming from. His work is about helping people heal from pain- and to do this he does a lot of pattern disrupting and encouraging radical responsibility.

The dancing, music, talking to neighbors, cussing, it all is meant to be a pattern-disruption, to change your state, to raise your vibe and get you operating from a new level.

He’s also suggesting that we all have done things we aren’t proud of, and he even quotes Jesus in the Bible, when he says, “He that is without sin, let him cast the first stone.”

I get this. I agree. He’s talking about concepts such as radical responsibility, being 100% accountable for our life and our choices and actions.

He’s talking about non-judgment, forgiveness, and not being in victim consciousness. I’m down with all of that.

And here’s what’s missing.

When we’re talking about #metoo we’re talking about women who have been raped, violated, harassed, abused, threatened.

We’re talking about women who have been in a relationship with someone they thought was going to love them, who ended up hurting them.

We’re talking about women who have birthed children from men who they fear and don’t trust.

We’re talking about post-tramatic stress, trauma, healing.

And if you want to go out there and create change and grow your business and achieve new goals, then getting pumped up, dancing and raising your state is a fantastic way to do that, especially if you’re a man.

But women? The women I know? We wail.

When we’re really going deep, and we’re really healing, we sit in circle and wail.

We’re healing deep pain, deep disappointment, wounds from birthing forth life from our blood soaked bodies whilst our man calls us a fat, worthless, pig.

I’m not gonna stand up after that and dance and cheer and pump my fists and hug my neighbor.

I’m not going to suggest to a young girl, freshly raped, that she just go jump up and down, raise her vibe and get on with it! For, we’ve all sinned, right?

Nuh-uh.

No way.

If I know anything about healing, I know this.

Real healing takes real feeling. Deep feeling. Sitting there- silent, or not, going through the pain.

Letting it break your heart and break you open.

Not so you can stay stuck, ruin your life, and be a big victim forever. But so you can truly begin again.

What I think Tony missed, that’s being called forth through the feminine, is the right for women everywhere to have a VOICE. To speak up. To let people know when something has happened.

Harvey Weinstein, Donald Trump, and so many others, these are men who are using their power and positions to commit haneous, immoral and illegal acts against women.

#metoo is about bringing this shadow behavior into the light. It’s about letting young women, girls, all women, know that they’re not alone, they can speak up, it’s okay, we’ll believe them…they don’t have to keep this secret, they don’t have to go along with it, this behavior is never okay.

What I think we’re struggling with now is how we marry these two places. Yes, we’re conscious, awake, aware. Yes, we believe that we create our reality and we’re 100% responsible and accountable for our lives and our choices, and the impact we have.

And yes, too, paradoxically it seems, we know that when someone else abuses us, it’s not okay. And we didn’t create that behavior, we didn’t choose it, we didn’t cause it.

Now, I know, on a high spiritual level, where I think Tony is coming from, we can say, “Yes, I don’t want to stay stuck, I don’t want to be a victim, I don’t want to blame, or ruin my life because I’m so angry!” but before we can do that or say any of that from a place of true authenticity, we need to know that we can come out and speak the truth…

“Hey, this happened to me. Hey, I need help! Hey, I’m alone, I’m afraid, I’m suffering, I’m hurting, something bad is happening here and no one will help me!”

We have to be able to be allowed the space to claim our experience, our feelings, and our needs. Otherwise, we’re just bypassing!

And this is what I think so many of us are grappling with. Yes, we believe in 100% radical responsibility and that we’re powerful creators. And YES, we believe that we get to speak up, speak our truth, feel what we feel, see what we see and KNOW what we know.

The feminine, as she rises, needs men to step aside in a way. I mean that with the utmost respect. Many of us LOVE men.

We love the men in our lives. AND, men have been telling THEIR story, their opinion, their belief, for so long now, that we need you to stop talking so much and start listening.

We need men to hold space. Protect us. (By creating a safe container.) Listen to us. Allow us to feel. Bare witness.

Let us teach you the power of accessing your emotions from deep within so that you can begin to wail and wail and receive healing from all of your sins.

As for Tony Robbins, I mean, c’mon, what a guy! He’s changed millions of lives. He’s a mega-star! And, he’s a big man. Though he’s known pain, he hasn’t every been a woman. He doesn’t know what it’s like to be raped or beaten as a woman.

So, maybe his methods are great for those they’re great for, but it’ doesn’t mean he’s got the full perspective on #metoo or being a woman.

And so, in some ways, perhaps even guys as great as THE Tony Robbins, have to step aside…it’s not enough that you know, like, marry, or hire women…you have to listen to them, too.

With all my love,

xo

When he died on the cross, and was resurrected, he was showing that we are not mortal bodies that die, but everlasting spirits, energy, that goes on forever. He was teaching that even if someone cast stones, and nails us to the cross, we can forgive and love, “for they know not what they do.”

This teacher, Jesus, was sent forth as an Ascended Master, to enlighten humanity about LOVE. This is Christ Consciousness.

I think we’re meant to learn the lessons from this story, more than we’re meant to argue over who he was, what are the correct teachings, what religion should we follow…

I think we’re meant to embody the loving energy of Christ, to be Christ like in our own lives, to recognize that we’re spiritual souls, here to grow and evolve and learn and we do so by forgiving others, casting no stones, loving, and living our lives in accordance with this high vibration.

I do think we’re meant to live as Christ lived, awake, aware and in love, knowing that we are all the sons and daughters of God, the one Source of all that is, here to forgive and love one another as our brothers and sisters.

XO

And so, in some ways, perhaps even guys as great as THE Tony Robbins, have to step aside in a way…it’s not enough that you hire women…you have to listen to them, too.

With all my love,

xo
