Yes, I’ve shared a lot of mascara application techniques over the last six (!!) years here on TBD. But this one is probably my favorite! And I can’t stop doing it. On. Everyone! It allows you to really get at the base of the lashline and stamp the roots AND it is the quickest way to flare out the lashes, including the inner and outer ones. And don’t worry; you can bend it right back so return it to the tube. If you don’t want to try it with a mascara that you splurged on, try it on a drug store beauty first until you’re hooked! Here’s how:
This past weekend, I attended Coachella for some weekend fun in the desert. As you guys may already know, this festival always brings in the coolest fashion and looks. I got a chance to stop by the #WinterBumbleland party and find some of the coolest accessories and hairstyles that I was inspired by. Here are some trends I noticed during Coachella this year that I feel will set the tone for the rest of the year:
Space buns (saw lots of of these)
Glitter on the hairline
And as always… braids, braids, braids!
Below are some of images I snapped at the Bumble party to (hopefully) serve as festival look inspiration for the future festival-goers here! Are you attending any festivals this year? What are some of your favorite accessories or hairstyles for festival season? Please share them below!
P.S. I was so inspired to try these “space buns” myself that I actually wore this hairstyle on Day 3 and added some glitter with the help of Kristin Ess’ Hair Spray. First spray, then add glitter!

The last thing we want is to look super made up at a festival. But it’s also the perfect occasion to rock something fun! So here are three easy and quick ways to get out of our comfort zones without looking glammed up:
I added this matte liquid lip stain ($$) in Soft Lilac on top of the metallic rose shade, using the same eyeliner brush. First I applied one coat from the halfway mark to the end of the wing, then after it dried, I added another coat to the last quarter of the wing.
We’re kicking off a new series on TBD and I am very excited start things off with one of my all time favorite women, Ashley Tisdale. In the last year she’s launched a new makeup line, a new website, a new music series on her youtube channel, all while creative directing at Signorelli and killing it at her own company, Blondie Girl Productions. As if she wasn’t busy enough, she’s heading to Coachella for the first time this year. I figured we should talk about those things AND create some pretty desert vibes while we’re at it.
First of all, your skin is looking pretty poreless right now. What are your current skincare favorites? Hydration – I drink two liters of water a day! I also am adamant about washing my face morning and night, I like the CETAPHIL CLEANSER, and a good eye cream, but what I learned from my dermatologist is that the less products the better.
Your new ILLUMINATE BY ASHLEY TISDALE PALETTE is stunning and I know that because I own it (I’m also excited to say that you may or may not have named one of the colors after me! OMGOMGOMG)! What’s the story behind this palette? It was one of my favorite palettes to create. I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone and do a lot more color, like purples and blues. I wanted to make sure it was different from the BEACH GODDESS and NIGHT GODDESS. When naming the eyeshadows I was inspired to name it the Goddess palette because I feel like the people who inspire me and my life are all goddesses. So of course there had to be a Kristin!
Who are you most looking forward to seeing perform at Coachella? Also have you ever been there before? This is my first time at Coachella, I’m so excited! I’m really looking forward to seeing Lady Gaga, and just taking in the entire experience.
Talk to me about your YOUTUBE CHANNEL! I love the music sessions you’ve been doing with Chris and Vanessa! I’ve known you for a little while now but I did NOT know you could sing like that! Whoa. Thank you so much! I’m having so much fun! I recently relaunched my YouTube channel and Music Sessions just came organically, because obviously my channel was launched when I was doing my albums, and knowing that my husband is a musician it just seemed so natural to do cover songs. I never expected people to love it so much, but it’s really exciting to see people enjoy it!
Current favorite blogger/youtuber? SINCERELY JULES has always been one of my favorites.
Lately, I’ve been on the hunt for a place that could help take my skin one step further to “perfection” and could really help me with my skin problems. I have oily skin and am prone to hormonal breakouts every now and then. I just really needed something to help me with my uneven skin tone and acne scarring, so last week, I visited the Kate Somerville Clinic. I’ve heard of Kate Somerville through word of mouth & via social media, so I thought I’d give this place a try! I booked an appointment and was advised (based on my skin concerns) to proceed with a Laser Genesis treatment, followed by an LED Light. I could not be happier with the experience, so read the full overview below and keep scrolling to the bottom of this post to see what my skin looked like immediately after the treatment!
More about Laser Genesis:
This treatment requires NO downtime, aka you can immediately dash over to happy hour/brunch/dinner and go about your day as you normally would! Also, this treatment was completely painless (all I felt were warm sparks of heat — which is the laser getting down into your skin and stimulating collagen production to help with reducing fine lines, pore size, scarring, or any redness).
I followed this treatment immediately with an LED Light to give my skin one more push. The LED light featured red, white, and blue lights — each specializing in different functions. Red light calms inflammation, white light promotes collagen stimulation, and blue light kills acne-causing bacteria. I sat under this light for 25 minutes.
I could not be happier with the Kate Somerville treatments. My skin was glowing immediately after the treatment. In the photo below, you can see what my skin looked like immediately after! In no way is it perfect, but I am constantly working on it, and this Laser Genesis and LED Light has helped my skin jump a mile ahead to where I want to be. Even the next morning, I could immediately tell my pore sizes were smaller and my skin looked even more radiant. Though my scars/hyper-pigmentation are still there, I believe that after a couple more series (in combination with my skincare regimen) it’ll diminish over time. The doctor recommended that I go back for a couple more series to achieve the optimal results (they normally recommend ~6 series). I can’t wait to come back for my second round to see my skin go another mile in what I hope it becomes — a more cleaner complexion. If you’re ever in the Los Angeles area, and looking for a great facial treatment, I highly recommend visiting Kate Somerville. I’m also recommending these Kate Somerville products you should check out (for my acne-prone ladies out there!):

I love a monochromatic face because it’s harmonious and chic. But there are ways to add a little more style to it and this way is my favorite! Here’s how to pair matte and metallic finishes in the same shade:
Hope everyone had a nice long weekend! Today I am sharing with you what’s in my skincare closet. All of these products below are ones that I highly recommend. I would not be sharing it with you if I haven’t had a positive experience with each and every one of them. Now, take a look for yourself!
Origins Face Wash– my favorite face wash EVER — it balances dry and oily skin (which I have), and smells like peppermint. I have been using this for a couple years now and am constantly restocking!
Tatcha Cleansing Oil– Cleansing oil has changed my life! This one in particular does the job and gets rid of all my makeup, without having to use a makeup wipe. If you haven’t tried cleansing oil yet, you must try this.
Clinique Moisturizing Gel– I have oily skin so this the perfect moisturizer for my skin type. I have been using this one for years.
Fresh Sugar Polish– First, this face scrub mask smells amazing. Second, this makes your face feeling SO smooth and rejuvenated.
Huxley Anti-Gravity Cream – I discovered this face cream when I went to my local Nordstrom in LA and saw a pop-up dedicated to Korean beauty — but don’t worry, you can purchase this online too! I’ve been using this a lot lately and absolutely love it. It makes my skin feel new in the morning, AND it smells amazing.
Glossier Moisturizing Mask– My roommate gifted this to me and I use it whenever my skin is dry and needs a pick-me-up. This works like MAGIC.
Caudalie Detox Oil– I apply this almost every night and it revives my skin come the morning. I can’t get enough of it and I’m ready to go on to my 3rd bottle!
Mario Badescu Face Spray– I’m sure everyone has seen this product before but the hype is real guys! I use this all the time.
Caudalie Moisturizing Toner– This moisturizing toner has been saving my life this winter. I immediately apply this after I wash my face.
Origins Renewal Serum – I apply this several times a week at night and I loveeeee. I think I just love the Origins brand in general (as you can tell in this post ha!)
Origins Night-A-Mins Cream– Can you tell I love the Origins brand? I promise this post is NOT sponsored by Origins (ha!) but this is another fave night cream (which I had to patiently wait for on backorder because it apparently is a hot-selling item…but I understand why).
Vant Instant Recovery Mask – This is a mask I picked up at the Korean Beauty pop-up in Nordstrom in LA but as I mentioned before, Nordstrom sells this online too! I used this the other day and LOVE how it made my skin feel fresh and soft.
What are some of your favorite skincare products that you use on a daily basis? I’m SO into skincare so please, please share them in the comments below!
