A referral you give to The Ancaster Handyman is the best compliment you can give for a job well done. When you say to someone “I had Stan The Ancaster Handyman do some work for me and he did a great job. If you need anything done around your house you should hire him.” That person is likely to call me rather than searching for someone else.
Having people give a referral of a business to family and friends is necessary to even exist in today’s marketplace. All business have to be constantly generating a supply of new customers. And that means having to undertake extensive and costly marketing and advertising campaigns. And believe me, that stuff doesn’t come cheap.
The biggest problem with all marketing and advertising is…
‘Only 50% of all advertising works… And nobody knows which 50% it is’
Historically, many businesses religiously pour their time and money down the advertising drain in order to find new customers in the following (and this is just a small selection) ways:
  • Maintaining a website (luckily, I do my own)
  • Maintaining a social presence (same here)
  • Paying for Google Adwords
  • And search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Paying for stand-alone advertising
  • Networking
  • Flyer distribution
  • Advertising agency fees
  • Artwork and design fees
  • Paying for leads from lead aggregation sites
And that’s on top of all the usual bread and butter marketing tools we use like business cards, vehicle signs, uniforms and the like.
All things considered, it’s not unusual for a business to easily spend in excess of 20% of their income looking for new customers. And that’s just to get leads. And more often than not, they’re cold unqualified leads at that, with no guarantees of actually doing any business at all.
And yes, that marketing budget is paid for by the people who buy the products and services.
When you hire The Ancaster Handyman you are not paying for a large advertising and marketing budget because I don’t have to spend money on advertising. My clients come from my Web Page, FaceBook page and referral from people like you, my ideal clients/
“Sales is all about getting people intellectually involved in a future result that is good for them and then getting them to commit emotionally to get that result” – Dan Sullivan
There’s a maxim in business that goes… “Find and lock into your ideal clients.”
So who are my ideal clients then?
  • People who understand that any handyman worth his salt will have to be booked in advance, not called up at the last minute.
  • People who are willing to pay a fair price for an outstanding job.
  • People who can fully appreciate my expertise and are happy to leave me alone to get on with the job in hand.

My ideal clients are also those that are loyal to my company, frequently use or buy my services, and are likely to recommend me to their friends and colleagues. In short, people just like me, that’s who.

And then there’s a universal law that goes… “Like attracts like”.
If you’ve already proved yourself to fit the bill of an ideal client, it makes perfect sense that the people around you will be of a pretty similar makeup. And by definition, they are therefore more likely to become ideal clients too. That’s the secret sauce behind how referrals work.
A business that gets a lot of referral business does not have to spend as much money on marketing and therefore can be more competitive on their rates.
But long story short… IT’S ALL ABOUT TRUST!
And trust in a business is the most valuable asset you can ever acquire…
And these days, it can best be acquired through what is called social proof… i.e. through your testimonials and referrals and the people that get to see them.
You see, trust predates everything. There’s a great quote from marketing and sales guru Zig Ziglar that goes:
“Nothing ever happens until the sale is made.”
And yes, while I wholeheartedly agree with Zig on this, I can extrapolate that one step further and also say:
“Nothing ever happens until trust is first built.”
Yes, there’s not one single sale ever made in this world, without first establishing some degree of trust with the customer.
And likewise, this whole process carries its own inbuilt trust guarantees, because without having first performed well enough to warrant your own trust in my company, I’ll never get to see a referral from you, the consequences of which means that the whole thing stops dead.
Your referral is the ultimate way of saying “I can trust this guy”, and it’s your trust in me, that can help go a long way toward others trusting in me also.
So is Stan The Ancaster Handyman someone you really can trust in?
I started this business with these goals in mind:
To be the best handyman in Ancaster, to be trustworthy, friendly and reliable and to be easily found. If I say I will come and do your small job or list of jobs you can count on me being there when I say I will and giving your job my full attention. I will not bump your job because I have taken on another larger more profitable job.
If you are looking for a handyman all you have to do is a Google or Bing search for Handyman Ancaster to find the best handyman in Ancaster as recognized by TrustedPros for two years in a row.
How do I earn your trust?
Every single day, I put in the extra effort to make sure that my customers are completely satisfied with my wide range of handyman services. And by offering excellent value and taking extreme pride in my work, I have quickly established myself as the premier handyman service provider in Ancaster.
But please don’t take my word for it, take a look at what my customers are saying
At The Ancaster Handyman, trust is all about doing the right things and doing all the things right.
But at the end of the day, it’s not about me. I could go on and on about everything I do, how I do it and how long I’ve been doing it. And “so what?” you might ask.
But how nice it would be to find a home repair expert you can trust with all of your home repairs and improvements? A man you can trust around your family, pets and belongings? A company that genuinely cares about your home as much as you do? And how about somebody willing to go the extra mile to ensure you get exactly what you want?
The Ancaster Handyman can make your life a whole lot easier. By saving you time to help reduce your stress levels.
No, it’s not about me… it’s all about you and the peace of mind you’ll be getting, knowing your home is being well looked after with all your best interests at heart.

Repair or Replace?

Do you often have that question when things break around your home? Some things are easy to repair and other things can end up being a major expense. An example would be a toilet is running all the time so you would just replace the flapper to repair it not replace the toilet. On the other hand, if one of the doors of your custom kitchen cupboards was damaged and you would want to repair it to look as good as the rest of the cupboards.  If you couldn’t just buy a new door you might have to find a cabinet maker to make a new custom door or replace all the doors.
Email Stan The Ancaster Handyman (theancasterhandyman@gmail.com) if something brakes around your home and find out if he can repair it. If he can repair it he will schedule a time with you to repair it. If it is something that would be better done by a special tradesman he can refer you to someone he trusts to do a good job.

Fix It !! Many of my clients call me Mr. Fix It, “the Fix It Handyman”. Do you have something that you need to be fixed? Are you having trouble finding someone who will come and do a small job? Send me an email explaining your dilemma and I will get back to you with a time when I can come and fix it for you.  If it can be fixed I am the one who will know how. People call me with their problems and I have the time and the skill to fix it for them.
If we confirm a date and a time I put it in my date book and I will show up when I say I will.
I don’t believe in making work, I am too busy for that. If it can be repaired great but if it is better to replace it I will tell you.
Just last week I replaced the tiles by someones back door because they had cracked, but first I fixed the floor supports which was causing the floor to flex. Then I put down a new subfloor and new tiles.
The tiles will not crack again. That floor is solid.
For more examples of my work visit my web page http://theancasterhandyman.com/gallery/ or you can read what people are saying about my work here http://theancasterhandyman.com/testimonials/
I provide professional, friendly handyman services to the people of Ancaster. I will fix it either by repairing it or replacing it.  Either way, when it is done you can rest assured that it is done right.
If you have a list of jobs that need to be done just give me your list and relax, you can consider it done. Many of my clients have a list on their fridge and when they have a few items on it they give me a call to fix it all.

This is how I am different from other handymen. Quality of work and customer trust are my top priorities. You can always trust me to do it right. I’m not interested in just making a quick buck and moving on to the next customer.
I’m more interested in building lasting relationships with clients that understand the value of having a good handyman. I’m interested in developing a true Win/Win between my clients and myself. That’s how I am different from other handymen.
You see, I actually enjoy this type of work. In fact, I spent my career designing machinery that automated processes. If there is a better way of doing something I am sure to find it out. I love what I do and I love to help people. As a designer, I drew it up and others built it but as a handyman, I get to build it or fix it and I get to meet a lot of interesting people.
No, I’m not the cheapest handyman in town, but I believe you get what you pay for. If you value having someone that you know will show up on time and that you can trust to be in your home even when you are not there, then I’m your guy. If you value the peace of mind of knowing that the job will be done right, then I’m your guy. If you value superior communication, then I’m your guy.
Conversely, If you are just looking for cheap labour, please save us both some time. I’m not your guy. If you want a quick cover up job because you are selling your house. I’m not your guy.
I will not do a half job. When I am finished it is done right and done to last.
My clients count on me to deliver consistent, quality work in a multitude of different projects so they can save time and enjoy their homes.
If you’re looking for somebody to take care of your honey-do list of projects, give me a call today. I look forward to working for you.
For the last two years, I have been recognized as the Best Handyman in Ancaster by Trusted Pros. If that is not proof enough of how I am different from other handymen then read what people are saying about me http://theancasterhandyman.com/testimonials/

I am Stan McCall, The Ancaster Handyman and I want to be your handyman.

Do you have a new exterior door that needs to be installed? Many people would consider a new exterior door installation a two person job but a skilled handyman like The Ancaster Handyman can install a new exterior door by himself.
The first step is to check that the door that you have purchased is the right size to fit in the opening then the door trim needs to be removed and the screws cut to remove the old door frame. The door is installed and the frame is shimmed square so that the door will swing freely. A long screw is put through each hinge into the frame and long screws are put through the lock strike plates into the frame. The door trim is put on one side of the door and the door frame is then foamed to keep out the cold before installing the door trim on the other side of the door and door handle. Care must be taken to not over foam the door frame since the expanding foam can bend the frame and cause the door to jam.
If the new exterior door is installed properly it should not swing open or closed by itself.
