There is no doubt that planning an event overseas like a destination wedding takes some time and involve lots of thinking and moving pieces. It is to make the right decisions taking into consideration all the aspects. Our role as a wedding planner is to facilitate this reflection and to provide solution and support. Although we have created special bonds with some wedding vendors that we would tend to recommend more, we always try to remain objective and only stay factual. We are also very open to working with new suppliers that we don’t know!

Almost every couple, no matter the budget they have, will be facing some key decisions in a wedding planning process. Today, we wanted to share with you one of the best part of the event planning: The choice of the catering company. In this blog post, you can enjoy some beautiful photography from Zack Story, a Paris wedding photographer to whom we wish a long and successful career!

We had the chance to welcome our lovely dearly British couple coming all the way from Dubai for the occasion. We initially presented them with five catering company, all of them being based in Paris. We took into consideration the time to reply and send a quotation, the experience & referral, the presentation, but, the best way to experience the menu.

‘We love when things are personalized and custom made for each couple’

The couple shortlisted 3 catering companies, and so we organized 3 tasting with each one of them the same week. It is probably the best way to compare them. When a couple is looking for a wedding planner in Paris, and all over France they also contact different service providers, so we know exactly, what it is to be put in competition.

After planning hundred of events, and being the one chosen, we can say that the emotional factor plays a big part in closing a deal. After all, we are all human, and although it is indeed a business transaction, we also want to feel a special connection with the people we are going to work with on such an important day, that is for most people, the most beautiful day of their life.

We had mentioned this many times, and although, it may sound cliché or a bit cheesy, it is a fact absolutely true, and that the reason why we care so much about providing the best service to them and always trying to improve. On the occasion of the last tasting, which took place at the headquarter of the catering company in Paris, our director Jean Charles Vaneck, and event designer wanted to present what the tablescape could look like on the wedding night. It is easier to visualize what things look like when you have a sample and mockup presented.

‘We kept this a surprise to the couple, to see their reaction’

As they entered the room where we set up their tablescape, it was clear that the bride really liked it. She looked very happy and surprised in a good way. We had created a tall exotic centerpiece made of monstera, tropical leaves, cymbidium & Jean Charles Vaneck’s signature flowers, the anthurium. A floral runner in the colors fuchsia & dark pink contrasted with a gold mirror table.

‘The gold plates and cutlery matched the overall regal look’

For the occasion, we had asked our favorite private service to be part of the tasting experience and to prepare a selection of cocktail to try out. They always use the finest liquor with a unique flair that is unique to them. They had become in a few short years the reference in Paris to provide bar service for all the luxury designer show. We love to work with them for our best destination wedding. We also had a specila little guests : Nelson, the mascot of Sumptuous Events !

The chef had prepared a selection of amazing cocktail pieces made of the finest ingredients and with a top presentation. The flavor, the texture, and the colors are always perfectly balanced. Later we sat down and started the food tasting. It was a unique experience to enjoy a lunch on such a beautiful tablescape and to enjoy the quality and expertise. We tried 3 starters, 3 mains & 2 desserts. Needless to mention, we were quite full! We also had an unexpected surprise, the castle event manager, who was nearby, passed by and enjoyed coffee and sit with all of us.

It was a lovely moment we all shared, and time to say goodbye and greeting everyone. The caterer did a wonderful job! The couple heads down to the Shangri La Hotel with their wedding planner, for a final recap and overall discussion about the tasting. The couple is still in the process of choosing their caterer. As we say in French, ‘ Que le Meilleur Gagne’! (Note: the best should win ). We all can’t wait to have fun and celebrate love on their wedding day in a few months.

For many foreign couples, it is a lifetime dream to get married in Paris. It is a unique chance for many girls to feel like princesses by celebrating their wedding in a Castle. We are so lucky because France has an abundance of magnificent castles, from the grandest palaces to the tiniest, romantic places. Some of the most iconic sites have only ruins remaining, yet they carry a lot of history and make for a fantastic party venue.

This gorgeous Lebanese couple had come up with a medieval theme wedding. I was very excited after their Lebanese wedding planner presented me a mood board she worked on and presented the concept they had imagined together.

Remarkably, they were inspired by  the movie Lords of the Rings and envisioned a path of wood with candles and moss, long wooden table, flags, and dark tablescape, costumed waiters, jugglers, and fire-twirler. We gladly accepted this new challenge for Sumptuous Events.

Another opportunity to showcase our excellence in Floral design & customized decoration !

We had a chance to meet the couple and their parents while they were in Paris, as well as their lovely wedding planner. It was such a joy for us to join them on this unique journey.  Moreover, it is typical for couples to hire one team for full-service wedding planning and design, but this time we all worked together.

We presented them our work and achievements. They especially liked our past realization and the couple enjoyed what we designed for Ludacris’ Birthday the year before. Besides, we discovered what they really wanted -

Something daring and sexy, inspired by Dolce & Gabanna !

Finally, the sunny wedding day has arrived in mid-July, the high time of the French wedding season. We headed to the Caste of Valery, just one hour south of Paris. It is a precious Renaissance gem, yet with all modern facilities such as heated pool, flaming torches,  and a sound system until dawn. Marshal Saint André and later the Princes and Princesses of Condé – who all repose forever in its church – made the castle of Vallery one the most alluring chateau in the world. In the novel “La Princesse of  Clèves”,

The chateau was made as an eternal place of love and seduction.

We are proud to say that we managed to set up one of the longest tables ever to seat the 350 guests from Lebanon and abroad outside. The table was covered with a hopat of wood and twinkling lights and  a long floral runner made of breathtaking seasonal fresh flowers from Kenya, Equator and of course, Netherlands. The night was so hot that we hoped that orchids and dahlia will remain fresh and stunning.

The amazing guests, and especially the ladies in their long gowns splendid gowns, made the whole reception more than magical by dancing beautifully and giggling around the fire. Last but not least, the guests enjoyed a mouth watering buffet full of delicious signature dishes of international cuisine. All to say, it was a beautiful rehearsal dinner to announce the beginning of a fascinating wedding weekend. Stay tuned to hear more about the destination weddings.

Princy and Emmanuel were introduced to us by a mutual friend and they are one of the sweetest couples we have ever had the pleasure of knowing.  We are extremely honored to have been part of Princy and Emmanuel’s magnificent indian wedding in New York.

Last year we had a chance to work with photographer Ken Tan for a Brazilian celebrities wedding. Let’s just say it turned out to be one of the craziest weddings we have ever produced. Ken’s best friend was also getting married and he thought to recommand our wedding planning services. A few weeks later we were hired to help his friend plan out his destination wedding in Long Island, New York.

Not only was it a huge honor to be part of something so important outside of Europe, but it was also a rewarding challenge to organize such a large Indian wedding with over 550 invited guests

Although the number of guests invited was the subject disagreement, Emmanuel eventually agreed to invite most of the church congregation to the wedding.

‘We know that God was playing a big part in the overall picture here.’

It was heartwarming! When Princy & Emmanuel visited us in Paris, we were able to welcome them with some flowers and macarons. We enjoyed being with them and went through the initial wedding planning process during their stay.

When we arrived in Long Island, we went through the ceremony rehearsal at the Catholic church. We worked long and hard with the priest and church manager who ended up having their own ideas and way of doing things, so we were kind and let them take the reigns. What matters, in the end, is it that it was a beautiful celebration of love and companionship. We were introduced to the family. It was an honor to meet the parents. As they say, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. They were really cute together.

The evening of the rehearsal dinner was perfect. It was warm and pleasant. There were about 40 people in attendance. Emmanuel & Princy hosted an intimate dinner at a lovely seafront restaurant called Prime which served delicious international cuisine. Two long tables were set up next to a warm fire and a lovely floral composition.

An emotional Princy gave the first speech. She thanked everyone for coming. Later, we all enjoyed some good food, dessert, and tasty wine.  The next day, Emmanuel had his own private party in Manhattan with his groomsmen, while Princy had a traditional Indian evening with her family.

‘It was the big day! It was finally here!’

We could hear people practicing various dances in the hotel where most of the closest guests were staying. Everyone was looking forward to the evening dance competition. Princy was getting ready in her family  house with the assistance of the ultra-talented Samantha Agostino hair and make up team, while Emmanuel and his groomsmen were preparing the bow ties.

Most of the 550 guests showed up at church. It was a beautiful Mass with lots of Indian traditional elements incorporated into it. There were wonderful readings and poems. After the couple sealed their love with a kiss, they went down the aisle and were welcome by celebration bubbly sprayed by the guests. Portrait times was next. Everyone was lining up to get their pictures taken with the lucky couple.

Crest Hollow Country Club welcomed all the 550 guests for an outside cocktail by the huge swimming pool. A lovely classical quartet provided the background music. The food was delicious and the weather was perfect!  The wedding party joined the group after taking some intimate photographs and a few lighthearted ones with some champagne.

‘It was then time for the Grand Gala Dinner.’

The room was decorated with hanging light balls, twinkling crystal chandelier, votive candles, and a massive white shiny dance floor right in the middle of it all. We came up with the idea to create a catwalk in the middle of the room to facilitate access for the large number of guests in attendance. The color palette was gold and blue with some peach and pink floral accents. It turned out beautiful!

When the bridal party made its grand entrance, the DJ announced each one of them over the sound system. The crowd cheered loudly creating a warm and entertaining atmosphere. During the ceremony, Princy & Emmanuel followed a few indian traditions such as the tea ceremony and lighting the eternal candles. Those closest to them congratulated them with moving speeches.

‘At this point, many people were in tears’

Then came the dance competition which was simply mind-blowing to put it lightly. I had no idea the dancers were so talented. The Indian dancers and costumes were so pretty. The father-daughter dance was both funny and an emotional tear-jerker. I will never forget it. After cutting the cake and some crazy dancing, it was finally time to call it a night. As we walked out, we were offered take-home donuts. This was very fitting considering the wedding was held on World Donut Day! We felt we had to do something and we did. I think everyone enjoyed the gesture.

Emmanuel & Princy touched all of us in attendance in a very deep way. They taught some of us what love is all about and reminded others what love should be. We wish them a wonderful life together filled with love, joy, and adventure.

SUMPTUOUS EVENTS is being known for producing the most lavish parties and destination wedding in the world. We also love to produce memorable wedding proposal & engagement parties. It’s a complete different approach, more intimate and personalized.

Ashwin contacted us in December over the phone and asked us to put together a meaningful proposal for the love his life, a beautiful indian model. They had been together for a couple of years, based in Mumbai, and he knew it was the perfect timing for asking her to marry him and spend the rest of their life together.

Being well travelled, and taste for luxury things, Ashwin asked us to find a beautiful castle near Paris to host the celebration. We had something special for them ! A pure jewel from the heritage Collection,  privately owned and entirely decorated with taste by the marvelous interior designer Jacques Garcia – Le chateau de Villette !

The holiday festive season is always a good time to feel loved and what’s more romantic is the city of Paris in the winter. Right after the new year evening, Ashwin & Tanya arrived in Paris.

They had booked a wonderful deluxe suite at Le bristol. An opulent yet discreet  Palace on the Faubourg Saint honoré, with pastel and luxury interior. The lobby still carried the Christmas decor all around, which made the palace extra special.

It was a beautiful morning, somehow very cold, and as expected, many layers and a fur coat were needed to coast outside and explore the city  of Paris. Ashwin started the day with some relaxing time at the Spa of the Bristol.

‘He confessed to us he hadn’t been sleeping well the night before’

Around noon, they got escorted to a delicious lunch at the super famous Michelin stared, Alain Ducasse, at the Plaza Athénée. The culinary experience is always spectacular, and we love to recommend them.

Back to hotel Le Bristol, our team welcomed the couple, Tanya was happily surprised and understood something was going on when she met the photographer and the videographer.

‘A private car was ready to escorted them to the private Castle’

Upon their arrival, Jean-Charles Vaneck along with the Castle manager, welcomed them with a glass of champagne and floral bouquet. We invited Ashwin and Tanya for a private tour around the premises. The castle features more then 15 bedrooms, all decorated with the finest furniture and art pieces form the 18th century. Each mirrors itself carries so much history and background.

The wedding venue stand apart from any other Castle  !

Back from the private tour, Ashwin & Tanya were welcome in the main lobby by a heart warming Kids choirs . They had prepared a mini accapella concerto and sang some of the finest Christmas Carols. It was pretty and it seems like Tanya started to get emotional.

Later, we welcomed the couple in the library for a vegan tea time, with a selection of Mariage & Freres blend. While the amazing international hair & make up artist, Ava Belle started to work her magic on Tanya, Ashwin rehearsed a little his proposal and the final words he would declare.

Tanya looked fabulous and all ready like an indian princess. Ashwin escorted her to the dinner room, where they could discover the set up our team had prepared for them. Luckily, most of our clients give sumptuous design, our sister brand, a total freedom, so we can create something unique that will make an statement.

“This table scape was extravagant and indian infused”

A second layer velvet table cloth cut as a French garden came on top of the main silk table cloth. We contrasted a range of red, fuchsia, orange, pink & purple flowers.

The couple enjoyed a 6 courses courses dinner, while listening to a Jazz band who covered all the French standards. At the end of the dinner, Ashwin stood up and brought Tanya outside. the beautiful melody from Christina Perri ‘ A thousand year’ was playing in the background. Ashwin bend on his knees , and popped up the questions. After she said yes, an amazing firework exploded in the sky and sealed their love in the beautiful sky of Paris forever  ! It was another beautiful Indian engagement Party created Sumptuous Events.

This wonderful couple based in Hong Kong always dreamt to celebrate their wedding in Europe. they had been thinking about it for a little while but they couldn’t make up their mind about the perfect destination. They thoughts about a wedding in Italy, near by the Lake Como, and of course, a destination wedding in the city of Lights, Paris !

Loving both destination, it was difficult to be objective for our team also. We suggested the best way was to meet us, and do some site inspection all over Paris and decide afterwards.

We welcomed the couple and spent the day chatting wedding, driving around and looking at out the most elegant Castle in Paris. At the end of the day, it seemed pretty clear their hearts was set for Paris, and maybe for us too !

We planned to perfection Catherine & Lachie’s wedding. for several months. A 3 days celebration , which is the best format for a destination wedding, as we always suggest. Think about all the guests travelling from abroad, its the best way to offer them a Parisian typical experience and to mingle from day one.

The welcome night, also known as the rehearsal dinner was held at the recently opened Nolinski Hotel, a few meters away from the Opera. The Boutique Hotel is super chic with a wonderful spa and indoor swimming pool. It feature a typical French Brasserie, named Le Rejane. Catherine really enjoyed the look of the modern Brasserie, after checking out many different options.

We welcomed the guests with some acoustic Accordion music, and the menu was nothing but French traditional gourmet food, such as cheese plater, traditional saucisson & charcuterie, ( all those  delicious little things made with Porks ). Catherine arrived after everyone,  she looked magnificent as always, with a black couture dress. After a glass of champagne,  the atmosphere was super chilled and it was the perfect occasion for the guests to break the ice. There was a few toast from the parents and the closes friends.

“It was lovely to see a mix of Asian culture and Australian Background”

We shall say all the guests were really lovely and all super well dressed up, although the dress code was casual chic for the evening.  It was already time to call it a night, although nobody wanted to leave. But as we say in french , l’heure c’est l’heure, understand when it’s time to go, you have to !

The next day was all sunny and amazing, it was actually very warm too. Catherine and Lachie got ready in one of the Suite at the Shangri La Hotel, one of our favorite palace in Paris ! All the boys were trying to fix their bowties with the help of the head mixologist of the hotel, also known for his magnificent moustache.

‘While the girls already looked all pretty and fancy in their purple wedding bathrobe.’

Jean Charles Vaneck, our artistic director, delivered the bridal bouquet to the bride and her bridesmaids, and we trust she really liked it, as you can see their face on the pictures. After some family portrait, it was time to head to the wedding venue, L’hotel d’Evreux.

All the guests were waiting for the bridal couple, and the ceremony could start. This must have been one of the most joyful, funny yet emotional ceremony we ever witnessed. Everyone seemed happy to be here. Later, the guests were escorted to the  first floor what they call, les Salons particulier, who overlooked the Place Vendôme.

‘Indeed, what a million dollar view !’

It was time to reveal the dinner set up we had been working on all day. Sumptuous Design, our sister brand, specialize into floral art work and everything about designing a room. The table was set in a star shape, with some purple table cloth, and flowers grading of purple, Fuchsia, pink & white.

The Jazz Band played all the French standards during the dinner served by from the best caterer Potel & Chabot. A few wonderful speeches from the bridal party reminded us all that mariage was all about love & joy.

“Catherine ’s happiness enlightened the room, and we all danced until the night”

paris wedding

The next day, the guests enjoyed a farewell brunch at the iconic Buddha Bar Hotel. For the occasion, we privatized the terrace, with a live DJ, and many international cooking station. Nobody wanted to leave. It was a wonderful wedding, and all the guests congratulate us all week end and said it was the best destination wedding in Paris !

“The best wedding they have ever been !”
