I wrote a bunch of blog posts on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale already for Early Access, but today is the start of Public Access so it's only fitting I do one for today, too! Here are more posts about the sale that I have already written that will prove most beneficial. The sale officially ends August 4th, but this is the last post you'll see from me on the topic!
Today I thought I would share the pieces that I ordered from the sale and what I am keeping and what is going back! Head over to my instastories around noon to see videos of everything and a try-on. Head back to this post closer to the sale go-live time and I will upload all of the images of me trying on the pieces!
Cashmere Funnel Neck Sweater// I like this sweater. I have the Vince version in black and wear it constantly. It's very similar- not exactly the same quality (it's a little thinner) but similar enough and for the price, it's a decent value. Unfortunately, I am returning this one because I got the beige heather color which looks like a very pale camel online. In-person, it's a much darker shade- still very pretty but I was hoping for/needing that light shade! I find this to also run big so size down!
Short-Sleeve Cashmere Sweater// I have one of these already in cream from last year and get so much wear out of it. It's still a bit pricey in the sale, but with the amount of wear I get out of it, it's worth it to me. This is just an overall great closet basic. I love layering this under a blazer in the fall. This runs true to size. Keeping this!
Giraffe Throw Blanket// Obsessed with these blankets! They are so expensive for a synthetic throw blanket but they are SO soft, it's crazy. I had to get a second one since we have two living areas!
Lace Dress// I didn't love the colors that this dress came in, but I had seen so many people looking gorgeous in this dress. It's just not for me, so it will be going back, but the quality isn't all that bad for the price!
Leopard Print Scarf// Obsessed with this scarf. It's such a fun neutral piece and an easy way to add a bit of leopard print to any outfit. Oftentimes in the winter, I am always looking for something fun to spruce up an all-black outfit. It's soft and nice for the price- nothing luxurious but still nice!
Tweed Blazer// Wanted to love this but just don't. Normally, I find the Halogen tweed pieces to be of quality and nicely cut, but this just felt cheap to me. I do love the look of it, but it's still going back.
High Waist Leggings// Love, love love. I already love this brand and knew these leggings were great so I had to snag a pair. They are very high waisted so they suck you in and stay in place. They run true to size. Keeping this!
Crewneck Sweatshirt// The price for the quality on this is great and I love the high-low hem. I am a huge fan of crewneck sweatshirts, I feel like I can never have enough. Keeping this!
Nike Top// I got one of these last year and think they are such a good value! They run true to size and I wear mine all of the time with athletic shorts and leggings! Keeping this!
Faux Diamond Stud Earrings// I had heard so many rave reviews about these faux diamond stud earrings, so I decided to snag a pair. They are really beautiful. I have real diamond studs and love them and wear them basically all of the time. However, I love having a few pairs of faux studs to wear while at the beach/lake/pool, while traveling, working out, etc. Keeping this!
Contour Bralette// I snagged this last minute because I loved the shape of the neckline. It's hard to find a bra with such a plunge. I actually 'needed' something like this so this purchase cam more out of necessity. It's a nice price for what it is. Keeping this!
Laura Mercier Palette// So I got two palettes with the intentions of returning one of them. I think the palettes are such good prices for what you get and I especially love the range of beautiful colors in this one! The problem is, I love both!!!! I can't decide which to keep!
Nars Palette// This has a trio of highlighter, bronzer, and blush. The shades are gorgeous and I can always count on Nars for a great palette. Which one should I choose?!
I am currently in North Myrtle Beach with my fiancé and his family enjoying the sun and sand! I am not a beach girl, but I am loving our time here!
I've still had to do a bit of work so I still have some things to share with all of you today.... we head back this evening and I'm sad to leave but also excited to get back into a routine. I am totally one of those people who thrive on routine! Wearing: I wanted to style these Jeansto share how easy to wear they are! Dress them up with pumps and down with classic loafers!
Eating: I know it's summer, but can we talk about egg roll soup?! I honestly love soup year-round and full intend to create this when I am back in my own kitchen. YUM.
Drinking: We are headed to Georgia in a few weeks and they have the BEST peaches. I am always looking up ways to incorporate them into cocktails and recipes. I love this recipe for a fresh peach gin and tonic! I will definitely be recreating this.
Reading: I just finished The Last Mrs. Parrish and it was SO good. The book took a turn about halfway through and I couldn't believe it! The most perfect beach read!
Sale-ing:Tula's Summer State of mind set is SUCH a good value... It's $88, but with SYDNEY you get 20% off, making it just $70. The set comes with cleanser, scrub, gel-cream, 2 Masks and a cosmetic bag. If you bought all of the items separately, it would be $146! My favorite is the masks. They are SO hydrating and I see immediate results- my skin is hydrated and glowy and looks plumper.
Watching: I have been so behind on TV lately! Need to play catch up, stat!! We did watch the entire season 3 of Stranger Things, though, and I loved it. I felt like it was very different than the past two seasons but I loved the strong 80's vibes!
Loving: I am loving adding items to my Amazon storefront! It's always there and I update it in real-time with all of the great buys I find on Amazon.
Wanting: Have any of you purchased a pair of Sarah Flint pumps? I love the look of high heels, but the arch in my foot is seriously crazy so it is always so hard to find a high heel that is comfortable. I am thinking of getting a pair of these for fall... check out their website and pay close attention to the footbed of their shoes. They not only look impeccably designed and high quality but the footbed looks SO comfortable.
Quoting: 'The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.' // See more of my favorites, here.
Our family pic after both my sister and I get married!
I have always wanted a small, intimate wedding. It is important to me to know every single person (and know them well) if they were to be in attendance at our wedding. Luckily, my fiancé felt the same way!
We both have families on the smaller side. To give you an example, I only have 3 cousins and my fiancé also comes from a smaller family, too. I'm the oldest out of all of my cousins and family friends, so none of my cousins or anyone in my family has gotten married or started families of their own yet. I know sometimes it's just impossible for people to have a small wedding simply because both the bride and groom have huge families!
Originally, my definition of small was 50 people. But, once we created our list, that just wasn't going to be possible. We are ending up right around 100 people, which I still would consider on the smaller side!
We could have easily had a 300 person wedding. We are lucky to know so many amazing people. But, I was adamant and put my foot down...I think there needs to be at least be one person in the mix who puts their foot down and draws a line so that the list doesn't get out of hand (or totally let it get out of hand if you want a huge wedding!).
We were thrilled that our parents supported our decision for a smaller wedding. I know it can be tough when parents on both sides are continuously adding to the list. We definitely encountered that and it's just something you have to work through with your families!
A lot of you have asked how to choose who you invite and who you don't and I don't think that's something that I can advise on- there are too many different situations so the only thing I can say is to do what you feel is best and right for you!
It helped a little, too, that our wedding venue runs on the smaller size so to have a seated dinner with the band/dance floor in the same room, we couldn't have really gone over 125 anyway.
We are so excited to celebrate with those nearest and dearest to us and are so thankful to be surrounded with so many incredible friends and family! Tell me, how many guests did you have at your wedding?!
It's been quite a while since I've posted an update on my sweet Henry! Last time I posted, I was chatting about how I was nervous about Henry and the move! In hindsight, there was nothing to worry about.
We snapped these photos one morning and I just had to share them. Henry usually poses for photos or tries to get in photos which is so funny because Mac (our dog who passed away last year) always avoided the camera and would never pose when a camera was brought out. 99.9% of the time that I post Henry, he is never posed or anything like that...he is a total ham. But, that morning, when I actually wanted him to pose with me, all he wanted was belly rubs and he kept rolling onto his back. It was so funny and my fiancé and I were just cracking up the entire time. He makes us laugh daily and most of these photos are truly candid and show how much fun I have with him.
Henry is in LOVE with our new house. He might be the one that loves it most. He is just thriving with so much space, immediate access to the outdoors, and giant windows that he can look out of all day long. He really loved it the second we moved in and we never had an issue with adjustment or anything.
It brings me so much joy that he seems to love his suburb life. He has already gotten used to a routine here, knows where all of his toy baskets are, and found the best hiding spots when thunder rolls in.
I know this sounds so cheesy, but I love Henry SO much. Both my fiancé and I do and we often laugh about how much we love him. Sometimes we just stare at him and say 'how is he this cute'?!
Henry is also obsessed with us- and I don't say that because I am full of myself, but because it warms my heart to see him love us SO much. I can't believe he's only been in our lives for just 1.5 years! It feels like he has always been with me!
One thing that is really fun is that now that my fiancé and I live together, he really takes care of Henry equally and their bond is adorable. He's 'our' sweet pup and I love that.
Another thing that I find hilarious about Henry is that he is truly in love with my mother. Like beyond anyone else ever. He absolutely freaks out when I say my mom's name and when he sees my mom, he goes nuts and cries and it's seriously the funniest thing ever. He sits in my mom's lap when she is around and always wants to be as close to her as possible.
He is currently staying with my parent's while we are at the beach. My parents are the best to always watch Henry and I am so thankful for that. He loves it there and loves my parents and I never have to worry!
Our lake trip is coming up soon and I am so excited for him. He loves the lake and thrives there, so it will be fun!
I adopted Henry from Tracy's Dogs and they just released a Youtube video of their Pittsburgh Transport. It's worth a watch if you are considering adopting a dog. To see the happiness in everyone's faces when their dog is brought out is priceless. It also shares some info about adoption- when you adopt a dog from Tracy's Dogs, you save 3 dogs: the dog you adopt, the dog that then takes that dog's space at Tracy's Dog's and the dog that got their shelter spot!
My pajamas are from Walmart! Did you know that they carry Splendid? Splendid is one of my favorite pajama brands because of its soft fabric. Besides the pajamas I ordered, I also was eyeing these blue and white pajamas perfect for the summer months! Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
In my opinion, the best selection and the best deals are in the beauty section! There are so many amazing sets from skincare to makeup to fragrance and more. Today I wanted to share items that I personally own and love and would recommend!
Bobbi Brown Lip Crush// I have the lip crush in 'babe' but plum has been on my list to try. This lipstick is matte but does not feel matte on your lips- it's creamy. It stays on SO well and you can control the color. I dab it on my lips for more of a stain and then you can layer it for more color!
Moroccan Oil// I am on their press list so I have been fortunate enough to be able to try a lot of their products but the oil is their hero product and there's a good reason for it. This smells wonderful but isn't overpowering. I just add a quarter size amount to the palms of my hand and rub together and run my fingers through my hair. It helps to add shine and cuts down on frizz.
Kiehl's Creme de Corps// This is such a great basic body lotion. It doesn't leave you greasy or sticky and is so hydrating. I love a pump top, too, for quick and easy access. This is a classic and this huge bottle should last you at the very least 6 months!
Kate Somerville Exfoliator// This product drives me insane because it is so expensive, but oh my goodness does it work. This is a physical and chemical exfoliator so it has a texture! You can leave it to sit on your face for a few minutes like a mask and then really rub it in all over your face. This is an instant gratification product because my face instantly looks clearer and fresher... it's great to do on special occasions before you apply makeup for a perfect base. Even though it is so pricey, I continue to buy it because I love it that much.
Chanel Chance// I love and have worn the green version of this for years and just recently started wearing the pink version. It smells SO good. It's ever so slightly stronger than the green version and a little more ladylike than fresh, but still a wonderful everyday scent. It lasts all day long!
Dior Lip Glow// You all know this is one of my favorite products of all time! There are two sets available. One in 'pink' and one in 'berry'.... they both happen to be my favorite shades out of all of the lip glows! They are balms that feel truly like chapstick! They are lightly tinted and just give you the prettiest 'your lips but better' look! The pink is the least color and the berry is a more purple-red tone. They can be easily applied like chapstick without a mirror and are very hydrating.
Lancome Genifique// This is a relatively new skincare product for me. I have been using it for about 3 months. It's a serum designed to be anti-aging. I love the hydrating feeling. A lot of serums are drying and this one really gives me plump, glowing skin. You can use it morning and night, but I prefer to use it in the morning after cleansing. I love the dropper in the bottle for a hygienic application!
Neubrow// My brows are naturally thinner than I'd like them to be. I use neubrow every other day until the tube runs out (at night) and the results are real. My brows look thicker and fuller! They also make it for your lashes and that really works, too. This deal is that you get two bottles so it might be a good idea to go in on it with a friend that wants to get it, too! One tube is usually $100 so this is essentially 50% off!
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk// This is a holy grail product for me!!! I love the pillow talk color- it's a matte 'your lips but better' product. I love the pencil and use it to fill in my lips entirely. They just look youthful and plump and have a natural flush to them. Same with the lipstick, you can layer the pencil and the lipstick so it lasts a long time. I have yet to try the gloss so I am very excited to try it- I bet it is amazing, too!
Malin + Goetz// This is the most heavenly scented product and it's kind of hard to find! It's definitely warm and manly but also fresh!
Peel Pads// These are the extra strength peel pads and there is a cult following! These really work and are really strong. I use them for a few days before a big event or when my skin needs a touch-up! Since they are strong, I tend to use every other day. You will notice your skin gets clearer- age spots/dark spots/acne scarring fades, wrinkle lessen, and your pores shrink! These rarely go on sale and this is such a good deal for all of this!
Mario Badescu// I love MB's drying lotion. It's a spot treatment for breakouts and truly works. It has never failed me! You just take a q-tip and dip it in the bottle and dab it on your zit overnight. It's lessened in the morning if not gone. The facial spray is so refreshing and hydrating... it's great to have on hand at the pool or beach or in a dry climate to give your makeup a refresh after a few hours! I have yet to try the lip balm, but I am guessing it is great. MB's skincare line is really great and high quality and the price tag on the line is usually inexpensive compared to a lot of other brands on the market!
Since the Nordstrom sale is going on and there are no doubt some good deals, I wanted to highlight other good deals from other retailers. Today's post is going to be a little different than my usual posts but I think this is kind of fun- I love the hunt!
Cashmere is one of my favorite pieces to buy during the Nordstrom sale- but there are so many other beautiful pieces of cashmere from other retailers that are on deeper sale or just all around less pricey than on the Nordstrom website!
The hard thing about sharing sales on Summer Wind is that the items sell out quickly because the stock is likely low and lots of people are shopping! The pieces are also hard for me/other bloggers to highlight because oftentimes with deeply discounted pieces, there is only one size left so it doesn't accommodate everyone! But, today I thought it would be fun to share those ridiculously good sales in hopes that someone can find a great piece at a great price!
This Christina Cashmere cardigan is one of my wardrobe staples- it's currently well under $200 in several colors which is a steal for quality cashmere.
This is a wool/nylon/alpaca blend which means it will be crazy soft but also will hold up well and keep its shape. As of writing this, this Vince sweater is 70% off and in stock in all sizes. It also comes in navy blue. Cannot believe this is only $70!
Bloomingdale's has a great cashmere line. Right now, none of the pieces are on sale, but the prices are always really good. Around Christmastime, they will all go sale, though! This cashmere tee is very similar to the Theory one in the Nordstrom sale but for less!
This sweater isso beautiful! I love the look of the chunky knit and exaggerated neckline!
I can't believe this cardigan is only around $100- it's 70% off!! It's a beautiful wool/cashmere blend and comes it two colors.
This cashmere tee is one of my favorites and I own it in several colors. As of writing, there are only smalls left, but it runs big! It's meant to fit a little oversized, but you could easily size down to this if you are usually a medium. I like it worn simply and casually with jeans and ballet flats or booties, but also pairs beautifully with a silk scarf or blazer!
Happy weekend, friends! We are headed to the beach right now and I'm so excited for a fun week ahead. As I am headed to the beach, it feels weird to be sharing fall jackets because it has been so hot and muggy lately! But, there are 5 beautiful Barbour jackets included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I wanted to make sure you all knew about them!
These are all so classic, neutral and high-quality! My two favorites are either three or five. Five is similar to a classic Beaufort or Beadnell style and so functional.... but you really can't go wrong with any of these! I wanted to share the images above to show you how versatile a Barbour jacket of any color/style is! These are 3 different jackets!
Now onto our usual, non-Nordstrom sale Saturday shopping, here are some things I've been loving from this week!
I mentioned in today's earlier post and on instastories that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has a bunch of repeat items from years past! A lot of these items I have already bought and get a lot of wear out of year after year. As a disclaimer, items may not be *exactly* the same. For example, the Vince cashmere cardigan that I am obsessed with is slightly different this year, but this will give you an idea of items I love as well as how I have styled them in the past!
These jeans are seriously one of my favorite things I own! They are very comfortable and well made. They are meant to fit loose, but are cut slim so they are still flattering! As you can see above, they are versatile and can be styled in a multitude of ways!
This is one of my favorite pieces that I pull out each fall. The brown color is rich and beautiful and the suede is really nice. It's definitely a mini skirt but it's cut in a classic way!
This year's black cashmere cardigan is slightly different in style but it has the same vibe. Vince cashmere is always such high quality and I wear this sweater SO much. It's by far one of my most favorite things in my closet!
The pieces of jewelry that I own are not from the Nordstrom sale, but they have the same classic fine jewelry pieces on sale. These are pieces that I wear every single day- they are classics and stand the test of time.
Can I just tell you how many times I have worn my rain boots? I have had them for several years now and they have held up incredibly. They’re such a classic and functional, too! I personally prefer the TOUR style boots because they are designed to be rolled up and packed! They’re also lighter weight so they don’t make your luggage super heavy! Both the Tour style and some other styles are included in this year’s sale. Snag a pair if you don’t already have them- this is one of those items that rarely go on sale!
The Patagonia pieces are another good buy because the brand as a whole rarely goes on sale. The brand is known for its high quality, functionality, and sustainability. I have pieces that are 10 years old that have gotten a ton of wear and they don't show it! This Patagonia better sweater is one of my favorites. The exterior of the half zip looks like a sweater but the interior is a soft fleece. I wear this a lot in the winter with leggings but also love it for layering when skiing! I find Patagonia to run mostly true to size across the board. I wear smalls in everything- it's roomy enough for layering but still fitted. These Zella leggings are a great basic black legging and comparable to leggings you would find at Lululemon!
Tory Burch riding boots are beautifully made and cut in a great silhouette. I have a pair that are years old and barely show signs of wear. I just don't love the big logo on the side of the boot, but if that doesn't bother you, I say go for it, because they are nice boots!
I am going to be doing giveaways throughout the sale, so I thought I would start out with something that would benefit more than just one person! I did this in the past on instastories and all you have to do is go to your local Starbucks, order your drink and when you go to pay, scan the barcode above. I am hoping everyone is honest and only uses this to buy their own drink so several people can benefit! There is $100 loaded so it is first come first serve! Enjoy!
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is LIVE today at 12:30pm EST. The sale is shoppable to those with the Nordstrom Credit Card, this is also known as Early Access. If you do not have the card, you will be able to shop the sale on Friday, July 19th! See my post, here, for any other details you'd like to know about the sale!
Below you can see my thoughts and first impressions from the sale. There was a LOT of stuff this year and weeding through it took me so many hours, but it was fun to see everything.
Overall, I think that the sale seems oversaturated with Nordstrom brands. There are SO many Nordstrom brands now, it's hard to keep track. In case you don't know, they are brands like Halogen, Caslon, 1901, Zella, BP, etc. You can check out this Business Insider article that talks about each brand and you can see where Nordstrom lists the brands, here. I feel like this year there were a lot less outside brands participating in the sale which makes me disappointed because that's usually where you get the best buys on brand name items.
I also noticed a lot of repeat things from years past. Lots of the same cardigans, camisoles, boots, etc. I didn't love any of the bags or sunglasses that much. The makeup, beauty, skincare, etc. are the best deals and the best selection in my opinion! Now is the time to try new skincare or makeup that you have been holding off on. The prices are really good for what you get. I had been wanting to try this Estee Lauder serum- I have heard rave reviews and I'm going to snag it!
In terms of higher quality Nordstrom in-house brands, I really like 1901 which skews more conservative/preppy and then Nordstrom brand items which offer great higher end closet basics like cashmere sweaters. I also like Zella. I think some of their pieces/styles can be hit or miss, but I have found some real gems that are comparable to Lululemon for a lot less!
I am very discerning when it comes to sharing pieces from this sale. I am not going to show you a $30 t-shirt and rave about what a good deal it is... you can find way better deals elsewhere and I shared an example of this on my instastories earlier this week as well as an example below!
The pieces I select are what I believe to be the best buys. To me, the best buys are pieces that are nicely discounted and also classic items that you might have for years to come! I'll include things I already have and love, too!
Things I'm Excited About
- I am so excited about this cashmere sweater. It looks identical to my most-worn Vince sweater. I hope it is comparable quality, I ordered! You can see me wearing the Vince version in this post, here.
- SO happy that this Giraffe throw is included in the sale. I promise you that this is the softest blanket you will ever have. It's so pricey, to begin with, but the sale price is definitely better. I am ordering this so that my fiancé and I each have one for the basement and the living room! It comes in a bunch of colors and also different sizes, but the XL is the way to go. These blankets are not exactly 'chic' looking... so I have a basket (in both my basement and living room) for my non-decorative blankets that don't necessarily go with my decor but are so soft and cozy- that is where this gets stored when not in use. I am also dying because they make the blanket in a robe version. I imagine this is the coziest thing ever. I'm holding restraint because I already have so many great robes, but if you are in need of winter robe, this is it!
- I was hoping for more Vince sweaters than what was presented. I love this cardigan- I got something similar to it in years past and it has been one of my most-worn sweaters. I love to splurge on Vince pieces because the quality is so great.
- This navy dress is the most beautiful Kate Middleton lookalike dress I have seen! It's a classic and flattering silhouette that you can wear for a multitude of occasions and would be great for a more conservative office.
- Love my Hunter Tour Boots! They are packable so they fold up in your luggage so easily! I also find them easier to move in than regular Hunter boots. They look exactly the same as the originals!
- They had this diamond bangle bracelet last year and I'm including it again this year. The sale price is good- the full price is not a good deal and you can find better deals elsewhere, but the sale price is worth it!! I have a bracelet similar to this and I never take it off. It's one of my all-time favorite pieces of classic, understated jewelry. Bloomingdale's always has such good prices on their in-house fine jewelry... here's a comparable bracelet with double the carat weight for a similar price while it's on sale ($2300.. sadly, it is not on sale right now but goes on sale often).
- These Frye boots are beautiful. I think a nice pair of brown riding boots are a wardrobe staple that never go out of style and last forever. There are also the Tory Burch riding boots that are included in the sale each year. I have a pair from years past but they don't have the logo on them. The big logo on the boots kind of turns me off, to be honest! But, if you are OK with the logo, the quality is really nice.
- This Dior Lip Glow set is amazing!! There are two sets, one in 'pink' and one in 'berry' which happen to be my two favorite shades that Dior makes in the Lip Glows. The pink shade is more of a balm because it doesn't have a ton of color. The berry color is definitely a purple-red shade with much more color. But both are great for everyday use because they are balms and overall the entire lip glow line does not have a ton of saturated color. No mirror needed to apply! This is one of my holy grail makeup products.
- These Dennis Gross Peel sets are truly amazing. These are the extra strength version and the price cannot be beaten. I actually find them to be too strong for daily use so you could easily use every other day or every few days. I plan on using these leading up to my wedding because I truly find that they make my skin as clear as can be, soft, and also make my pores look smaller!
- The price of these Frame jeans is SO good. The brand is usually very pricey, so if you can find them for under $150, it's a deal. I find Frame to have a nice fit and are of good quality...I ordered these!
- This top is inexpensive and is so cute... It can be worn now with white jeans and later in the fall with dark jeans and heels for a cute date night look. This was one of the more inexpensive pieces that I loved! I ordered this.
- These bras are great to lounge in. With a savings of $8, making them under $14, I find these to be a good deal.
- The cashmere travel scarf is back again this year. This is a good deal.. under $100 for a cashmere scarf of this size is near impossible to find and because of the low price, it makes a lovely, generous gift. It won't be the most luxurious cashmere you have ever felt, but still a great purchase... If you can splurge a bit more, try this travel scarf from Bloomingdale's. It often goes on sale from time to time and is larger, more luxurious and more comparable to my favorite White and Warren travel cashmere scarves!
- $1130 for face cream? No thanks. If you want a pricey luxury cream, skip La Mer and check out Augustinus Bader... I have been dying to get my hands on a bottle but just haven't taken the plunge yet...I mean it's a lot for a face cream!!
- The Diptyque sets are not a good value this year. You're better off buying a full-price Diptyque candle instead of the shot glass sized set of candles. You will pay only a few dollars more and get a longer burning candle. The sets are only good if you plan on breaking them up into small gifts to give/have on hand to give during the holidays.
- $24 for a turtleneck is a nice price, but I honestly don't think these are the type of deals that you need to rush and buy. You can find pieces like this at Old Navy and likely with similar quality for the same price if not less! Here's a turtleneck on Everlane's website for only $22 (and that's full price!) and as a bonus, Everlane's is mostly cotton whereas the Nordstrom version is a mix of synthetic materials.
- This cardigan, which comes in a ton of different colors will be a big seller. Take a look at what it's made of... it's not made of the best fibers, but because it has a lot of nylon in it, it might be a great option if you are looking for a travel cardigan that will not wrinkle... the 5% cashmere will make it soft. They also have it in a longer version (like a duster).
- A lot of the Halogen brand pieces are made with 'acrylic', which usually equates with low quality/cheap feel and tend to pill. Who knows, they might be very nice in person, but this is a fabric that I just personally try to limit as much as possible in my wardrobe. This sweater is an example of a great piece coming from the Halogen brand- made with just wool and cashmere!
- There are a few cute J.Crew pieces included in the sale. I think if you 'need' the item right this second, then go for it. But, in my experience, J.Crew is always on sale, so there isn't really a rush to snag these on sale. They'll likely go on sale on J.Crew's site for less before it's even chilly enough to wear them!
What a week it has been! It's been so insanely busy around here! Between prepping double content (read more below) for next week because I'll be traveling, packing up and getting ready for a beach trip, and just normal life stuff like spending 4+ hours at the dealership and having to get new tires (woof), it's just been nuts!
I am ready for a fun trip and that's exactly what will happen! We leave on Sunday and are in Cherry Grove for the week. I have two weeks at home after that and then we have 10 days at the lake and I could not be more excited! The lake trip is where I will be able to truly unplug and enjoy- a real vacation!!
Things have also been starting to shape up house-wise! We have recently gotten some new furniture, our blinds were installed this week, we hung plates above our kitchen window, and a new rug for the living area to add some color!
Wearing: I randomly ordered these striped lounge pants and they are heavenly! They are buttery soft and the perfect thing to either sleep in or lounge around the house! Best part? They are seriously only $10! They run true to size.
Sale-ing: The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale begins tomorrow at 12:30pm EST for those of you who are able to shop Early Access (those with Nordstrom Credit Cards). You can shop today if you are and Icon or Ambassador level, although according to my poll almost all of you are either early access shoppers or public access! I wanted to share a sneak peek of some of the items included in the sale that I am loving! If you see something, you can always come back tomorrow for it! Tomorrow and July 19th are the only days where you will come to my blog and only see Nordstrom content. I am working my absolute hardest to bring you all usual Summer Wind content AND Nordstrom Sale content. So, what that means is that I'm posting twice a day several times each week throughout the sale period with great Nordstrom content. So, if you want to see/read the sale content, you will be able to, and if it's not your thing, you can skip right over it and get back to regular Summer Wind content. I can't please everyone but this is my first attempt at creating double content like this. Regular Summer Wind blog posts will go live each day (Monday-Saturday 6 AM EST) as they have for the past 10-years. Besides extra blog posts, lots of extra sale content will be added to the LikeToKnowIt app for those interested (username is @summerwind41490) and reviews/videos will be added to Instagram and saved to my highlights (@summerwind41490).
Watching: Did you guys see that Netflix is pulling Friends starting January 1st! I am SO bummed about it- it's what I have on in the background when I work or whenever I need a good laugh. The series is such a classic and never gets old!
Loving: OMG this white dress is incredible. So perfect for a bride-to-be. If I hadn't already purchased 2 rehearsal dinner dresses (I know, I needed options!!), I would totally get this. It's stunning.
Wanting: Some fun pieces I have come across this week!
Pittsburgh-ing: Restaurant week is August 12-19- looks like there are some great restaurants on the list including my favorite, Dianoias!
Smelling: One of my favorite perfumes will be part of the Nordstrom sale this year and I am so excited!
Traveling: Off to the beach this weekend! I am so excited!
