How to make a simple Aloe Vera Face Wash for dry and sensitive skinIngredients:
Why Aloe Vera Gel: The real question here is, why not aloe? It’s a great go-to for anything skin related, helping to heal abrasions to soothing sunburns. Aloe gel contains glycoproteins and polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are vital to help with skin growth and repair, as well as retaining moisture.
Glycoproteins are, simply, a carbohydrate attached to a protein. There’s a lot of talk about them reducing wrinkles, but I wouldn’t go that far. But when combined with polysaccharides, they form substances that compose the skins intercellular matrix, which keeps skin cells and structure intact. Basically, intercellular matrix is a fancy way of saying the stuff that holds layers of skin cells together. It keeps moisture in, and bad things out. For the record, there’s more to the intercellular matrix than just glycoproteins and polysaccharides, but that’s information for another day.
Why Castile Soap: Pure castile soap is vegetable oil based, as opposed to tallow (animal fat) based which is found in most of the soaps these days. It’s gentle and efficient, and removes make-up, dirt, sweat, and excess oils from your skin. It’s the main cleanser in this wash. Sastile soap is specially beneficial for sensitive skin as this is made with just plant oils, it gently cleanses your skin without irritating and drying out your skin more unlike other foaming soaps available in the market.
Why Lavender Essential oil: The lavender oil helps cleanse your skin and lessen redness and irritation.Since lavender has antifungal properties and reduces inflammation, it can help keep eczema at bay. It soothes and nourishes the skin — treating acne, healing dry skin, and reducing the appearance of dark spots and scars caused by acne.
1. Take one small cup of Liquid Castile soap and add 2 tablespoons of Pure Aloe Vera gel into it. Mix them well.
2. Now add 6-8 drops of Lavendar essential oil into it and stir gently.
3. Store this liquid in a small bottle and label it as Aloe Vera Face wash so that it will be easy to recognize it later (specially if you are a DIY person like me and have many such bottles filled with toners, sprays and all in your cupboard)
Take enough amount of this face wash and wash your face as you normally would. Wash with normal cold water at the last to close the pores.
You can store this face wash upto a month on shelf.

The reason I delayed it was, due to the time taken to research and find out some of the best mild shampoos available in India that are really mild, safe, organic and natural. It wasn’t easy, I can say you that. Most of these shampoos are available online either from the brand’s website or amazon. I will provide links and also mention from where you can get them, in case if you are interested to try.
10 Best MILD SHAMPOOS Available in India that are Safe & Natural
I don’t wanna bore you saying paraben free, sulphate free, fragrance free for every every shampoo that I am gonna list it down now, because they already are and hence are on the list today.
One thing that I am gonna do differently here on this post is including the ingredients of each shampoo so that it will be easier for you to make a choice quickly.
Let’s get into the list now.
1. BON Organics Aloe Vera Shampoo
This shampoo tops today’s list of best mild shampoos available in India for a reason. This is by far my favorite shampoo till date and will continue to be too. Ever since I switched to Organic Skin care and Hair care routines, I tried many Shampoos that contain no harmful chemicals such as mineral oils, silicons, synthetic chemicals, SLES/SLS, artificial colorants, preservatives and fragrances.
But I haven’t found nothing like this one yet. BON Organics Aloe Vera Shampoo is the mildest shampoo you will ever use. It is will neither be harsh on the dry hair nor too exfoliating to the oily scalp which can strip away the natural oils on the scalp.
My scalp gets oily quickly. After switching to this shampoo I have experienced that my scalp is less oily now and I can even Flaunt my hair on my 3rd day of my hair. It controlled the excess sebum production on my scalp that lead to oily scalp.
It cleanses my scalp very well, even though it’s oiled. Though I wash my hair twice whenever I oil my hair, I really felt that there was no need of second wash while I was cleansing my hair with this shampoo.
A must must try if you a looking for a safe, natural and mild shampoo to cleanse your hair.
Ingredients: Safe surfocants invigorated with Organic Aloe Vera, Organic essential oils of Chamomile, Vitamin E, Blueberry, Natural Conditoner. Contains No Harsh Chemicals, No alcohol, No animal products or sulfates. Ingredients are certified by following (below) certifications. See the Snap below.
2. Just Herbs Silky Strength Aloevera-Wheatgerm Moisturising shampoo
This shampoo is best for frizzy, dry and damaged hair. If your hair is already damaged enough and if you are looking for a natural and organic shampoo to gently cleanse your scalp and hair without making it more dry, then this is your best bet.
When I Oil massage my hair hours before washing my hair with Just herbs’s Silky strength wheatgerm moisturizing shampoo, I didn’t feel there is need to condition my hair. But when I just wash my hair with this shampoo without any prior deep conditioning mask applied, I felt my hair was little bouncy (not frizzy). I specially prefer hair products which doesn’t give a bouncy look to my already thick hair.
This is best suited for wavy, dry or damaged hair.
3. Juicy chemistry Apple cider vinegar and Argan Shampoo
Juicy Chemistry brands needs no introduction. I have seen the growing from selling on Facebook page to owing a brick and mortar store in Coimbatore.
They got their products and practices certified by COSOMOS Organic, ECOERT a few months back or it has already been a year, I don’t really remember.
Juicy Chemistry’s shampoo are completely organic and very mild to the scalp. They have three variants, out of which I love their Apple cider vinegar and Argan shampoo. We already know enough benefits of these two main ingredients in this shampoo. Apple Cider Vinegar is enriched with Vitamins C and B which help in promoting overall health of the hair and whereas Argan oil has been hailed to turn frizzy, damaged, unmanageable hair into shiny, luscious locks.
This shampoo makes your hair smooth and soft while gently cleansing your scalp without stripping away the excess oil and making it dry. This shampoo is more suitable for oily scalp than any other hair type.
** Made using Organic Ingredient ** Ingredient from Organic Farming ^ COSMOS Certified Natural
If you are the one who relies and trusts those brands with certifications, this one is for you. And remember, certified products comes with a price tag.
Price: INR 600 for 100ml is that price tag.
4. Roots & Herbs Luscious Jabapushp Hair Cleanser
This shampoo from the brand roots and herbs is made with some of the exotic Indian Ayurveda roots and herbs that are used centuries ago by many of our ancestors.
This shampoo is for dry and damaged hair only, as recommended by the brand itself on their website. I haven’t tried this yet, but will surely do. I love to try Ayurveda products more as they are very rare to find and so are very potent too.
Rustic Art Shampoos are completely made with bio-degradable and eco-friendly ingredients. Although they have around 5-6 variations, I specially love the Biodegradable Aloe Vera shampoo from Rustic Art.
With goodness of Coconut, Bermuda Grass & Wheat Protein; this shampoo is thick in consistency and leaves the hair with a healthy bounce, shine and strength.
Rustic Art Aloe shampoo contains biodegradable, non-toxic and relatively safe ingredients and is also cruelty-free and vegan. So it’s a great alternative to readily available harmful chemical-laden hair cleansers. However, if you have dry hair, do not skip your conditioner post using this shampoo or pre-oiling because this shampoo is certainly not for the damaged, parched hair types. Although it kept my scalp oil-free for up to three days, it couldn’t keep by hair sit at one place.
I have found that all these ingredients are safe to use and are very mild to the scalp too.
Price: INR 290 for 200ml
6. Vilvah Goat Milk Shampoo
I guess this is the first ever shampoo where I noticed that the goat milk is used as the main ingredient. Usually, goat milk used in natural handmade soaps and facial cleansers. As Goat milk contains many vitamins, but is particularly high in Vitamin A, which is necessary to repair damaged skin tissue, and maintain healthy skin it is used in many anti aging and acne skin care products.
But I didn’t know that goat milk is also extremely beneficial to improve one’s scalp and hair health. Goat milk is rich in protein and fatty acids. Therefore, it nourishes the hair deeply and provides a natural shine. When mixed with other oils, it does wonders for the hair, if you have extremely dry and dull hair.
So, that pretty much explains the benefits of using Vilvah goat milk shampoo. If you looking for a vegan alternative, then you can also try their herbal shampoo which treats dandruff and also works well for oily scalp.
Their packaging is improved and the shampoo now comes in a aluminum bottle.
This is one of the brand that I wanted to talk about in this post. Native circle is a local brand based out in Bangalore in Karnataka. It makes conscious effort towards sustainable and eco-friendly practices and lifestyle. Their products are sourced at various natural/organic farms of Karnataka and processed with utmost care and hygiene.
This is the only shampoo in this whole list which packed in a glass bottle. Isn’t that just awesome.
It has all natural ingredeints that are stratinght from the plants, no derived substances, extracts, or even any natural surfactants.
This shampoo is a little hard to work with as this doesn’t easily lather, but it is worth your time if you have that patience to get rid of all dust and drim from your scalp using this shampoo alone. This granular shampoo leaves your hair quite smooth and shiny
Organique Herbal shampoo is suitable mostly for dry hair beauties. It is mostly on the moisturizing side of a cleanser. I guess this is due to the coconut milk, full fat milk in which are present in this shampoo.
This shampoo controls frizz in dry hair and keeps it moisturized til the next wash (3-4 days).
Better not to choose this shampoo if you have extremely thin hair or oily scalp.
Ingredients: Castor, Rice bran, Soya bean, Almond, Jojoba, Neem seed oil, Coconut milk, Full fat milk, Yoghurt, Herbal extracts of Amla, Reetha, Shikakai, Methi, etc. Price: INR 375 for 200ml.
9. Nirvana Botanique Tea Tree, Basil & Sage Hair Wash
Nirvana Botanique has some of the best products for skin and hair care. Their products are simple and suitable for even sensitive skin to use daily. Although this shampoo is mild, it is potent due to the presence of many therapeutic essential oils like Basil Essential oil, peppermint essential oil and tea tree essential oil.
These essential oils are mainly used to improve hair growth and reduce hair fall.
A simple and decent mild shampoo with not much expectations, just suitable for cleansing hair. If you looking for a shampoo which should just does its job perfectly and there is nothing more you expect from a hair cleanser, then this is for you.
This is perfect for normal hair or you can also try this shampoo in summers.
I wanted this post to be really helpful to you all and I hope it did. Do let me know if my research is worth to find the best mild shampoo for your hair in the comments. Will you? Please don’t mind the delay sometimes I do to post what you requested for. I take a very good amount of time for research specially to write this kind of posts, so that you can choose the right one for your skin/hair type among some of the best that are available to use in our country.
It seems there are many misconceptions on using glycerin for hair. Many hair and skin care products have glycerin. It is added to shampoos, moisturisers, soaps and lotions among other products. Before we dive into the actual question of using glycerin for hair, let’s understand what it actually is, from where it is derived and what does it do?
Glycerine, also called glycerin or glycerol, is a thick, clear, fragrance-free liquid used in many beauty products. Glycerine is a humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the environment around it to itself
What does Glycerin does?
Glycerin absorbs water from its surroundings and this is what makes it an excellent ingredient for skin and hair care products. It is a sweet-tasting transparent thick liquid and can be easily dissolved in water.
Which type of Glycerin to use for Hair?
There are two types of Glycerin that are available in the market, one is natural that is derived from vegetable sources like coconut oil, palm oil, soy, or shea butter and the other is synthetic which is derived from animal sources.
Typically, if you are purchasing glycerin, the label will say if it is from a vegetable source of glycerin. Do not buy any cheap glycerin that is available in any drug stores. These are mostly synthetic and animal derived.
Synthetic glycerin has received some publicity as being a potential health hazard, and many consumers prefer to avoid it. It is typically produced from the starting material epichlorohydrin, which is a toxic chemical that is classified as a probable carcinogen.
Can you apply glycerin for Hair?
Glycerin returns moisture back to dry hair and improves the scalp layer since it moisturises it. However, when used in a diluted form, glycerin can be a great moisturizer and humectant for the hair. Care should be taken to use it in environments of moderate humidity. If the climate is very hot and humid, glycerin will absorb a lot of moisture from the air and cause the hair to swell, raising the cuticle and disrupting curl pattern, creating coarse, frizzy hair. In weather that is extremely dry, glycerin will seek out moisture from your hair and actually dehydrate it, which can cause damage and breakage
One of the biggest concerns I have seen expressed about glycerin is that it might remove or strip color from the hair. Many people with chemically dyed hair avoid it almost unilaterally. The truth of the matter is that glycerin is a reasonably good solvent for many types of molecules. It can dissolve and grab unbound dye molecules that are easily accessible near the exterior of the hair.
There is one possible exception: certain types of highly textured hair which are extremely dry, may still benefit from glycerin even in high humidity.
Glycerin can easily dissolve and remove these colors and accelerate the inevitable fading process.
So, to sum up when to and when not to use Glycerin for hair..
Glycerin is a water-soluble conditioning alcohol and is an extremely effective moisturizer and humectant. This means that all the usual things to be aware of regarding humectants, curly hair, and the weather are applicable when using glycerin.
Its viscosity and clarity make it a great ingredient to give definition to curls and to smooth the fly-away hair.
Do not use glycerin right after using a permanent dye on the hair, and consider avoiding it if you use semi-permanent or red color on your hair.
The benefits that natural hair care brings out are just amazing. But who has that time to actually sit and wait for so long to actually reapt those benefits out of those hair masks, even though they are amazing. 1. Flax seed Gel and Castor oil
Flax seed oil is so special for treating baldness problems in both men and women. flax seeds are rich in nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids and ALA (alpha-linolenic acid).
The ALA or alpha-linolenic acid present in flax seeds will inhibit 5 alpha reductase. It is the enzyme that can convert testosterone into DHT or dihydrotestosterone. Hair follicles will shrink because of DHT that can result in baldness. The linolenic acid, ALA, and oleic acid in flax seeds are effective natural remedies for male baldness. Flax seeds can also prevent hair loss caused by Telogen effluvium.
Castor oil for hair growth is used as an age old remedy. Many Studies have shown that castor oil worked for hair growth as the presence of ricinoleic acid in it is probably the biggest reason for the oil’s effectiveness in reversing hair loss and baldness. The acid helps boost the production of the compound Prostaglandin (PGE2), which promotes hair growth from dormant follicles.

Pumpkin seed oil (PSO) has been reported to be an effective treatment for male pattern baldness by inhibiting the DHT harmone.
Aloe Vera oil has some of the best antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties that stimulates the blood circulation of the scalp and thus promotes healthy long hair.
Aloe vera boasts a vast repository of amino acids and proteolytic enzymes which efficiently help improve scalp health and boost hair growth.

We missed to recognize it as a beautifying aid until we got to know that Yao ethnic women from the village of Huangluo in China made it to the Guinness Book of World Records as the “world’s longest hair village” just by washing their hair with fermented Rice water. Yes..! Their 6 feet healthy, long and beautiful hair reminds that the real skin/hair care lies on what our nature gives us. Plus these women do not have grey hair till the late 80s. Whoa..! So Using Rice water for Hair growth is just gaining traction now, but this simple beauty secret is here and has been followed for centuries. Its just that we were under a rock that we don’t know about this.
Rinsing your hair with rice water repairs and strengthens damaged hair shaft while providing elasticity, shine and smoothness.
The added nutrients from the fermentation process help restore hair’s pH balance, nourish hair follicles to promote healthy hair growth and improve the overall condition of hair.
Many studies have shown that this herb can reverse some of the most common forms of hair loss.
Male pattern baldness (MPB) is a form of hair loss that occurs when a byproduct of testosteronecalled dihydrotestosterone (DHT) attacks the hair follicles.
Rosemary oil can counter hair loss by stimulating blood circulation in the scalp, which, in turn, promotes hair growth . Its high nutritional value and anti-inflammatory properties make it an excellent ingredient for nourishing the hair follicles and soothing the scalp.
How to use Rice Water and Rosemary for faster hair growth
To prepare Rice water, take a small cup of raw, un-cooked rice in a bowl and wash it once with fresh water to remove any dirt and dust on the grains.
Now add 2 cups of water into it, and keep it aside for at least 2-3 hours covered.
After 3 hours, strain the liquid into a container and that’s it, you Rice water is ready to be used for your hair.
Now mix 3-4 drops of rosemary essential into and mix it well and apply to your hair.
4. Onion and Peppermint
Using onion juice is a sure-shot method to boosting hair growth and promoting hair regrowth. Onion is mostly used to “re-grow” hair, i.e., it shows noticeable results in growing hair in small bald patches in both men and women.
How onion juice helps hair growth? It is mainly because of these two reasons.
Its all about sulfur yes! Major reasons behind hair fall so to nourishing scalp with sulfur will promote hair growth
They have potent anti-bacterial properties and help fight infections of the scalp. This in turn helps reduce hair fall as scalp infections can cause massive loss of hair.
Peppermint essential oil is one of the most potent essential oil that is used to treat various hair and scalp problems. It is also used to treat the most common hair problems like hair loss, hair thinning, dandruff and itchiness.
Peppermint essential oil can help stimulate hair growth and has the ability to increase blood circulation around the scalp due to presence of menthol in it. Peppermint has such a distinct cooling and refreshing sensation when ingested or applied to your scalp.
Also, Peppermint essential oil is considered as a natural substitute of most popular hair loss inhibiting drug – Minoxidil. It is in fact proven to be better than this drug.

Make a fine paste of one small onion and extract the juice out of it using a muslin cloth.
Mix one part of this onion juice with 4 parts of rose water and 3 drops of peppermint essential oil into it. Apply this mixture to the areas where there is less hair growth or more hair fall, like receding fore head and temple areas.
5. Coffee and Rose Water
Caffeine in the coffee blocks the hormone Dihydro-testosterone(DHT) which is responsible for hair loss. So, Coffee can control excessive hair shedding and stimulates hair follicles for new hair growth.
Coffee increases blood circulation in the scalp and stimulates the roots of the hair, thus increases hair growth and reduces hair loss drastically.
Rosewater is great for your hair too. It replenishes lost moisture and makes hair more manageable, smoother, shiner and healthier. Plus, the natural anti-inflammatory properties of rosewater can help reduce dandruff and its stimulating properties increases scalp circulation and promotes hair growth.
To be sure, rose water does contain vitamin A, vitamin B3, vitamin C and vitamin E, all of which are responsible for boosting hair growth.
How to use Coffee ad Rose Water for faster hair growth
The foremost step to prepare a coffee hair dye is preparing a strong coffee. Here, we are preparing a strong decoction with 1 tablespoon of finely ground coffee and 5 tablespoon of water.
Tip: Choose a round measuring spoon for measuring these quantities to make perfect strong coffee.
Boil the mixture on low flame for 12-15 minutes. As soon as you see the water has reached its boiling point and starting bubbling up, turn off the stove. Let the Coffee decoction cool to room temperature. Take a small cup and add the decoction (do not filter) and then add 3 tablespoon of Rose water into it.
Apply this Coffee and Rose water mixture to your scalp just like you apply oil. Do not apply too much of it, because the water may drip out of your hair later. Let the water dry out a little before going to bed.
To your surprise, I already have a hair oil recipe on my blog which includes 5 ingredients from this list. If you are looking for a more convenient way to include these ingredients in your hair care routines, instead of spending time on each hair mask per week, you can try this out.
Note: Do not use these Overnight recipes in winters, or if the whether is cold outside or if have cold/fever. Also, Avoid trying any overnight hair masks if you are susceptible to catching cold easily.
