Valid

I’ve been having another wardrobe declutter and refresh this weekend, and figuring out what I’m keeping, tossing, selling and giving away! I used the Chart below as a guide to help me. I found it while searching through the webs, and it’s been really helpful, so I thought to share it with you!

Chart 1

It’s been therapeutic, and It’s also allowed me to create space for new things.

Are you due for a Wardrobe Clear out? Can you let me know how the Chart works for you if you try it out?

I’m going to be spending the rest of this evening catching up on my favourite shows and some snacks to reward myself! Hehe!

xoxo

I love this quote by Coco Chanel. So often society tries to dictate to us it’s standards of beauty, but let’s not forget the beauty of being ourselves. ❤️

ZARA Kimono | TOPSHOP Jeans | H&M Tee* | RIVER ISLAND Heels | ZARA Satchel

These photos were taken in London last year around this time! I was so happy to be out and about with the fam that day, it was Mother’s Day, I remember! In usual Shirley fashion, I had to get a picture of me in my outfit I enjoyed styling that day! As you can see, my love for the kimono goes way back! Here I’ve paired this green one with faded ripped blue jeans, a tee and tan accessories.

It’s raining. I can hear the sounds of raindrops and faint echoes of thunder from a distance. The lightening has stopped, and the greater part of the storm is over. It’s almost morning and I’m in bed enjoying the melodies of these songs and ambience of the atmosphere.

ASOS Kimono | ASOS Jeans | ZARA Heels* | TOPSHOP Bag* | ASOS Watch*

ASOS deliver to Lagos!!! I was so happy when I found this out, so I hit “Pay Now” so quickly on my shopping cart, and they delivered in no time! I was in the middle of trying on my new buys, and decided to style and shoot this peacock kimono in my compound. I love the different hues of blue, turquoise and touches of yellow. I thought it’d pair well with a pair of deep blue jeans and my favourite holographic heels, so I popped them on and accessorised with this blue fluffy bag! I’m so obsessed with the fit of the jeans, I think I may order some in black! And white… And grey…

ASO EBI Dress (Nnenna Nwizu Clothings) | OFFICE Heels* | LULU GUINNESS Bag | ASOS Earrings* | CARAVELLE Watch*

At the weekend I attended the wedding of my childhood friend, and it was so magical! I love seeing two people who love each other celebrate it. I thought to share details of my outfit here on the blog in case you wanted to know!

The Aso Ebi fabric was this gorgeous peach one, dotted with flower petals. I opted for this style of the ‘off the shoulder’, pencil dress and I loved it so much I wore it twice, first for the traditional wedding, then for the white wedding! I accessorised it for the white wedding with a pair of rose gold heels and watch, pearl earrings and a nude bag that paired so well with the dress.

I had so much fun! You can catch a snippet on my Instagram Stories Highlights @shirleybeniang.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

xoxo

There’s just something about coral nails that screams summer and holidays and vacations! I’ve been allowing my nails to rest for a few weeks, and I’d been digging the natural look. But today I felt like freshly lacquering them up, and decided on this coral by Essie called “Tart Deco”. They always have cute and witty names for the colours. Do you use Essie? What are some of your favourite nail polishes?

I’ve tried and tested many makeup routines for very hot/summery weather, and one I always seem to come back to and love, is this one! It’s perfect for those very hot days, I’m talking highs of 30°C’s (80°F’s), if you needed to cover up blemishes, but still want your skin to breathe! I’ve even used it on days I’ve gone to the beach/pool side and it’s worked well.

Below are the products I use, and I’ve dubbed… My Makeup HOT List:

1. SPF MOISTURISER/PRIMER: Bobbi Brown Protective Face Base SPF 50
This protects and primes my face!

2. BROW PENCIL: Benefit Precisely My Brow “6”
This is great for filling in the sparse areas of my brows and comes with it’s own spooly to blend very well!

3. BLEMISH CONCEALER: L.A. Girl Pro Concealer “Fawn”
I dab this onto blemishes and it covers them very well.

4. HIGHLIGHT CONCEALER: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer “Caramel”
My favourite concealer for the under eyes, cheek plain and to highlight my brow bone!

5. FOUNDATION POWDER: Makeup For Ever Pro Finish “168”
I apply this with a large powder brush. It gives a really good coverage!

6. BRONZING POWDER: MAC Studio Sculpt Defining Powder “Delphic”
I love a subtle contour with this particular look, so this bronzer shades in the areas lightly but nicely!

7. HIGHLIGHT POWDER: Huda Beauty 3D Highlighter Palette ‘Fiji/Seychelles’
The BEST highlighter combo ever!! I love to sweep this across my cheeks, above my lips and on the tip of my nose for an added sparkle!

8. MASCARA: Maybelline Lash Sensational
Apart from the fact that mine is personalised with my name on it (hehe thanks Maybelline), it’s such a good mascara! Lengthens and volumizes.. and for only £8 you can’t go wrong!

9. LIP BALM: Lancome Universelle “La Base Rosy”
My lips never felt so soft!! I love this product as it sits like a lipstick, but is in fact a balm/moisturiser! Easy to keep in my bag too!

10. LIP PENCIL: Estee Lauder Stay-In-Place Lip Pencil “16 Brick”
This lip pencil is a slightly richer shade than my actual lip colour, and I love to finish the look by outlining my lips with it!

11. SETTING SPRAY: Rimmel Insta Fix & Go
The perfect setting spray for this look. It doesn’t feel sticky or let my makeup slide off!

~~~
Here’s me today rocking the look.
I’m typing this up in a head wrap and a wrapper from my Grandma’s living room in Calabar!
xoxo
