This little surprise baby has been one of the hardest secrets to keep! We are thrilled to be adding another baby to love and watch grow to our family. Tinsley is SO EXCITED and thinks I have two babies in there (a confirmed NO at our sonogram last week) and Harrison has no clue what’s going on. My due date is November 23rd, the Saturday before Thanksgiving (which makes me 12 weeks, 1 day today!). Both of my other babies have come about a week early, so maybe this one will too!
I’ve been dying to share the news with you guys because I’m already in maternity clothes and have gained a whopping 9 pounds already (oops?)! So, it’s definitely been a tough secret to keep! We wanted to wait until our ultrasound to make an “official” announcement, even though we’ve been telling close friends and family for a few weeks now.
It’s true what they say, you pop faster every time you get pregnant. At this point I look like I did at probably 17 or 18 weeks when I was pregnant with Tinsley! I feel gigantic already!
Here are a few questions I figured you guys would be asking. If you have any more feel free to leave them in the comments!
Was this planned?
That is a HARD NO. The transition from one baby to two was extremely difficult for me. Harrison was a tough baby who didn’t love to sleep at night (and MAMA NEEDS HER SLEEP!). For the longest time the thought of adding another baby to our family scared the living daylights out of me. We knew we eventually wanted at least one more kiddo, but now was definitely not the time for it. God’s plan, though, was different from ours and we are most definitely pregnant. I guess this babe is our official souvenir from our trip to the Dominican Republic in February.
How did I find out?
If you guys remember, back in January I was working so hard on my health. From January-Mid March I had lost close to 15lbs, was eating super clean and working out a TON. I was just starting to feel really great about my body and just all around more confident. The week after I threw David’s surprise party, I started to notice my pants weren’t fitting right. It honestly made me mad, I’d been working so hard.. why am I going to opposite direction?! THEN started thinking about my period (not organized over here, people) and how I hadn’t had it in a while; did the math and I was about 10 days late. Oops. Took a pregnancy test, it was immediately positive and I began to cry, ha! It took me a couple of days to process, but I am obviously in a place now that feels great. David was immediately thrilled … men *insert eye roll emoji*
How have I been feeling?
Weeks 7-11ish were pretty rough. Off and on all day nausea, EXTREMELY exhausted, honestly feeling a little depressed, craving all of the junk foods and sweets. Hence why I’ve been pretty absent over the past few weeks! The weirdest part is that I feel most nauseated at night. This has definitely been my “sickest” pregnancy, but all together I know I don’t have it as bad as a lot of women. At almost 12 weeks, I feel much better; the nausea has subsided for the most part and I’m feeling a little more energy, which helps me feel a little more sane.
What have I been craving?
Food. Seriously, just in general I’ve been craving food. I never want to eat at home because nothing sounds good. I have really been wanting pasta (which isn’t something I typically eat) and cereal (what I typically eat during my pregnancies). Chick Fil A literally *always* sounds like a good choice (but, if I’m being honest, that’s not a pregnancy thing lol) and anything that isn’t at my house is probably what I’m going to gravitate towards. I’m still drinking coffee in the mornings (because: two toddlers) but am only having 1-1.5 cups as opposed to my usual gallon/day. Smoothies and acai bowls also sound really good. I’m basically eating everything in sight haha.
Will we find out the gender?
We haven’t found out the gender for either of our pregnancies until the babies were born. As you know, we have a boy and a girl, so this is our little tiebreaker! That being said, we may find out the gender for this baby. I don’t know why, but part of me wants to know this time around. We still haven’t decided and if we do find out we will wait until our anatomy scan to do so.
April got away from me so quickly that I never had a chance to do an April Amazon haul. Since it’s so early in the month of May, I might end up doing another towards the end of the month, but until then, here is my May Amazon haul. There are so many great options for late spring/early summer in this haul – I am in LOVE with just about everything I’m getting to share today!
As always, I’m sharing this haul in my stories on Instagram so you can see the items in motion! I think it’s always so helpful to actually see the clothes on someone who is wearing them.
This top is so cute, swingy, and just all around perfect for summer. It’s a light weight knit that doesn’t cling and is a great length to wear with jeans or shorts for the warmer months! It comes in 6 different colors, I ordered the pink. It’s just adorable and I love how it fits! Oversized, but not too big! I ordered a medium and love how it fits! I pared it with these adorable and trendy resin hair clips. The clips came in a 12-pack for only $10! So stinking cute!

May Amazon Haul: Blue and White Embroidered Top, White Statement Earrings, Round Rattan Bag
I loved this top in white SO MUCH that I bought it in blue! The length is perfect and I find the quality to be great compared to the cost. I sized up to a large and it fits great – a little big around the bust, but not too big at all. The length of the pom pom tassels really bothered me (they were longer than the top) so I cut them and just hot glued the pom poms shorter. I much prefer this length!
This adorable top was a surprise to me, I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I do! Its a chiffony/silky feeling fabric with bell sleeves and screen printed florals. It’s gorgeous and looks more expensive than it is in real life. You could EASILY dress this up or down depending on your mood. Can’t wait to wear this on date night!

May Amazon Haul: Knit Dress, Woven Bag + Tassel, Woven Earrings
Color: Heather Grey (comes in 15 different colors)
This dress was a HUGE hit! I love how it fits, the feel of the knit and the length. The empire waist makes this dress super flattering on anyone! It comes in 15 different colors, so I’m pretty sure you’ll find one you love. Oh, and did I mention it has POCKETS? Win/Win all around!
Color: Hollow Rectangle (comes in 6 different styles)
I love these cute woven rattan earrings. They’d go great with anything beachy/summery and because of their neutral color are a great match for lots of outfits. I chose the rectangle style, but there are 6 different style to choose from.
Color: X-Pink (comes in 20 different colors/prints)
This adorable peplum dress is so easy to wear and comes in 20 different colors/prints. The buttons are totally functional and it’s made from a lightweight, very soft, non stretch fabric. This is a perfect dress to wear for a fun day with your girl friends – I love how cute, yet casual it is! I ordered a medium, mostly for the length, and it fits great!
This is a really great quality hat that I absolutely LOVE! I have been looking for a new hat for the summer and this one really fit the bill. Go see my stories to see how it was packaged – pretty amazing! It comes in 4 different colors and you can choose between Small, Medium and Large sizes. It also includes a tool to adjust the size so it fits your head perfectly!
It’s so interesting to me to see what you guys love from my hauls + my photos on LikeToKnow.it! You guys used my links a TON this month -thank you!! That helps me to know what you love, what you want to see more of and it also gives me a tiny percentage of the sale to keep things going here at Motherhood in Style. Here are April’s top ten things that you guys purchased this month. SPOILER ALERT: They’re all from Amazon, haha!
Summer is right around the corner, and we all know what that means: it’s SHORTS SEASON! When my legs see the light of day for the first time in months, I like to give them a little help by applying my favorite sunless tanner. Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Mousse is easy to apply, goes on so smoothly and dries in 60 seconds. Keep reading to see my five easy steps on how to apply sunless tanner!
This post has been sponsored by Jergens Skincare. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Pump the Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Mousse into your hand or onto your sunless tanning mitt and evenly spread it over your body. Use sparingly at joints such as knees, ankles, elbows, etc. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to spread—leaving no streaks, just tan! Work quickly as Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Mousse dries within 60 seconds!
How to apply sunless tanner: step four
After you’ve smoothed the mousse over your body, if you’re not using a sunless tanning mitt, be sure to wash your hands with soap to get the extra sunless tanner off of your hands!
How to apply sunless tanner: step five
After you’ve allowed the Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Mousse time to dry (it only takes about 60 seconds!), you’ll start to see results immediately and it will only get darker throughout the day! Avoid getting wet for the next four hours or so and your tan can last up to a week! The product is also buildable, so you can reapply the next day for an even darker tan.
I love using Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Mousse because the mousse is SO easy to apply, feels really lightweight and dries extremely quickly. Getting a flawless, streak-free tan is so easy with this product—just in time for shorts season!

Sephora Sale Picks
I always start with Unseen Sunscreen as a base/primer for my makeup. It is sheer and virtually weightless – I LOVE Supergoop! Next I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in the shade Natural. I use the oil free version and like the light coverage for daily use. Under my eyes I use Tarte Creaseless Concealer in the shade medium. I like this better than Shape Tape because it’s creamier and blends easier. I “bake” or set my concealer with Ciate London’s translucent powder. Sephora doesn’t carry this, but I know the Laura Mercier setting powder is similar.
For my eyelashes I wear Roller Lash by Benefit, no primer – just the mascara. This has been my go-to mascara for years. I literally cannot quit it. I fill in the inner corner of my left brow (although it’s almost grown back in!) with Anastasia’s brow definer in the color Granite.
For my lips, I am obsessed with Bare Minerals Patent Liquid Lipstick. It comes in a ton of gorgeous shades and is surprisingly long-lasting! I frequently wear “Pout” and “Girl Boss”
As a stay at home mom and blogger, I find balance to be something of a mystery. Something is ALWAYS taking priority. Some days it is my kids, some days it is my work and some days it is myself.
For instance, this blog post (a part of a series I’m doing with fellow mom-bloggers) was supposed to go live yesterday. But, things have been very hectic around our house and my kids and family had to take priority over this post.
First and foremost, I am a mama to my two kiddos. It’s such a luxury that my job entitles me to stay at home with them while sharing things we love as a family, pieces of clothing that I’m obsessing over, etc. I love blogging and the creative outlet that it allows me, but at the end of the day, it IS a source of income for our family, so it does feel like work.
Here are a few practices I’ve picked up along the way to help balance my life as a mom and a blogger
Hire/ask for help
This may come in the form of a babysitter, a Mother’s Day Out program, a housekeeper, meal planning service, etc. My kiddos got to “school” two days a week for 5 hours a day. This is when I schedule in my time to work, run errands that I can’t do with them, etc. It’s OK to have help – you’re not superwoman and shouldn’t be expected to do it all.
Work during work time and play during play time
This one is huge for me. When my kids are home playing or we are out doing something together (like playing at the park or taking a trip to the zoo) work goes out of my mind and I focus on them. This can be hard, and I definitely am not perfect at it, but it’s important to strive for this! Our kids need us when we are with them!
Put your phone away
Another REALLY hard one for me. It’s so easy to grab your phone and open Instagram to “check something really quickly” and end up spending 10 minutes scrolling. When I’m with my kids, I try hard to ONLY use my phone for necessary things. This helps create balance in our daily lives.
Realize that you can’t do it all.
Moms (whether you’re a full time stay at home mom or otherwise) wear so many hats. Realizing that we can’t and shouldn’t have to do it all is so freeing. By taking the pressure off of myself to be everything to everyone has helped create more balance in my life.
How do you find balance, mama? Here’s how a few of my other blogger friends find balance:
Summer is right around the corner, and to ME that means messy hair and baseball caps. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been wearing baseball caps all over the place. When I posted a few weeks ago on ways to style a t-shirt, I asked what other articles of clothing you’d like help styling. Many of you said baseball caps! So, I’ve come up with 5 outfits to wear with a baseball cap.
I promise you’ve got these outfits (or something really similar) already built into your wardrobe. Adding a cap to top it off can really help you get out the door faster when you’re pinched for time! Caps will also allow you to go longer between hair washes, which is great for your hair health.
Outfits to wear with a baseball cap
Keeping it simple with this atheleisure outfit; this one is a no-brainer to add a baseball cap to! This tee is a go-to and I just realized they added several more colors and stripes; two went in my shopping cart this morning!

This may be my most favorite outfit to add a baseball cap to. There is something so “soccer mom” about a t-shirt dress, sneaks or sandals and a baseball cap. I added my favorite light wash denim for a cool spring morning with this outfit.

Nothing screams summer like a cute pair of overalls! Add an adorable baseball cap to finish off your look with casual vibes!

Your favorite jeans + a Tee
May seem like a no-brainer, but this is a super easy go-to outfit to pair with a baseball cap! Don’t overthink it, just toss on a hat and head out the door!

Shorts and a Popover
It’s no secret that I love button down popover shirts like this one. This top paired with a pair of cutoffs is another great outfit to pair with a baseball cap. Perfect for an afternoon at the Zoo with your kiddos!

I hope this inspires you to pop on a baseball cap this summer! Which outfit is your favorite?

Spring is here after what seemed like the longest winter ever (yes! Even in Texas!). We are LOVING the sun staying out longer, playing in the yard and enjoying the outdoor part of our living space! After all of the time we’ve been spending outside, it had me thinking about simple ways we can improve the look of our homes from the outside. We spend a lot of time “spring cleaning” the inside of our homes, but do we often consider the outside? Here are 7 easy ways to instantly up your home’s curb appeal, whether you’re wanting to sell your home or you just want a fresh look for the upcoming seasons!
Spring is the #1 time of the year people think about listing their home and moving.
If you’re thinking of selling during the peak season this year (typically May through August), Opendoor may be a great option for you! For sellers, you can get an all-cash, competitive offer on an eligible home in 24 hours. No listing, no showings, no leaving for open houses (if you have kids, this is a GAME-CHANGER!) For buyers, every for-sale home is available 7 days a week from 6am-9pm, no appointment necessary. Simply use the Opendoor app as your key at the front door for a self- guided tour.
Over the past few months I’ve seen several homes sold through Opendoor in our neighborhood. The concept is genius, especially if you’re in a hurry to sell or don’t want the hassle of having to clean up your house every 15 seconds for showings! It works; and now is a great time to get started!
7 Easy Ways to Instantly Up Your Home’s Curb Appeal
Give your brick a coat of paint
Last summer we painted the exterior of our home and it completely changed the look of our house! We are completely in love with how it turned out. We tried several different paint colors before we landed on Distant Grey. Our house a long, ranch-style home that was built in the 70s, so an updated look to the outside made it an instant winner in our books. Plus, we know that this will add a lot of value to our home when we want to sell it in the future.
Plant seasonally appropriate flowers and plants
Planting perennial bushes/trees and seasonal flowers makes for a gorgeous flower bed. This instantly ups your home’s curb appeal and can easily be achieved on a gorgeous sunny weekend. Don’t forget mulch or pine straw; that seals the deal and really makes things look put together!
Update your door hardware
Updating your door hardware seems too easy, right? This attention to detail will shine through as you’re working to up the curb appeal of your home!
Paint your front door a fun color
We painted our front door Hydrangea Blue when we painted the exterior of our home last summer and I LOVE how it turned out. A fun-colored door is inviting, different and is the first step at welcoming guests into your home.
Use simple decor to draw attention to your front patio/door
To instantly up your home’s curb appeal, adding simple decor and/or a fun and inviting door mat is an easy first step. These decorations can be swapped out seasonally and are a lot of times the focal point of your home. Use decor that shows the personality of your family and is inviting to all of your guests!
Attend to your grass
This may seem like a no-brainer, but maintaining your yard is one of the first (and easiest) steps when looking to up your home’s curb appeal. Spraying for weeds at the right time of the year and maintaining a freshly cut lawn are easy ways to keep your yard looking fresh all year long.
Repaint the numbers on your curb and the street numbers on your house
The numbers on your curb and the street numbers on your home are an important first impression to people who see your house. Update them by repainting the numbers on the curb and replacing the street numbers on your house. We did both of these things last year and it made a huge difference in the curb appeal of our home.
Taking strides to up the curb appeal of our home has helped us to love it even more
If you are anything like us, we LOVE our home, but sometimes feel bored with it. Taking strides to up the curb appeal of our home has helped us to love our home even more and to be proud of what we’ve done with it.
What are some steps you’ve taken to up the curb appeal of your house?
