Hi sweet friends and happy Tuesday! How was your weekend? I went on a road strip to Springfield, MO with my parents for a family-friend’s wedding! It was a great little weekend getaway but now it’s back to the grind and I’m ready to kick butt this week. There’s been a lot going on around here, so I figured it was time for a little Life Update!
FRIENDS, MEET THE STYLE BAR BOUTIQUE!
I’m so excited to share that I will be partnering with The Style Bar Boutique over the next six months! This darling boutique is full of fun and affordable finds, like this super cute leopard pocket top! You girls know I love me some leopard, so this was a no-brainer! Though I did have a hard time deciding between this cream color or the blush version, which is also adorable! It’s only $32 – told you it was easy on the budget! – and I’m wearing a size Small.
My friends at The Style Bar Boutique are also offering my Sabby Style readers an exclusive 20% off code for their entire site! Simply use code SARASAB20 at checkout!
And that brings this already affordable top down to $26!
IT’S RENOVATION TIME
Like FOR REAL! We’re getting the dumpster set up this week and then we’ll begin the demo after Memorial Day weekend! Once we get everything cleared out, I’ll be taking the “before” photos and will be sharing everything on my Stories, so be sure you’re following me on Instagram! And of course I’ll be posting big updates and milestones here on the blog, too!
NEW HAIR COLOR + EXTENSIONS COMING SOON
After two years of going lighter and lighter, I’ve decided to work my way back to my darker, natural locks! I haven’t had my hair dark since our wedding (NYE of 2016) and while it’s been fun experimenting with balayage and trying out warm and cool highlights, I’m definitely ready for a change! Tony actually loves my hair dark because that is how I looked when we first met, so he’s excited for this transformation, too! I’ll also be getting hand-tied extension in the next few weeks, which will be such a fun addition to this new look I’m going for. I’ll be sharing that entire process and answering all of your questions, so stay tuned for that blog post!
FASTER WAY TO FAT LOSS
Two weeks ago I started the FASTer Way To Fat Loss program and so far I’m loving it! I was in desperate need of a reset and to make my health and fitness a priority. I’m in the beginning of week 3 and I’ve really enjoyed getting back into the habit of tracking my food and actually paying attention to what I’m putting in my mouth! I’m excited to share my results with you at the end of week 6. Have you girls tried the FWTFL program? I’ve seen so many incredible testimonials and the results other women have achieved are so inspiring!
If you’re interested in learning more or signing up (I’m planning on doing another round!), click HERE and email me or DM me on IG with any questions you may have! I’ve also put a FWTFL highlight on my Instagram bio so you can reference that, as well!
Thank you to The Style Bar Boutique for sponsoring today’s blog post! And thank YOU for supporting the amazing small businesses that I love and get to work with! xoxo

Sandi, the owner, is an amazing wife, mom, and boss lady and it’s been a true pleasure working with her these past 6 months! Not to mention her style spirit matches mine aka we both love bright and beautiful clothes! If I lived in Greenwood, SC, I would be at her boutique every week haha. Even though we’re hundreds of miles apart, I love that my blog and this platform gives me the opportunity to partner with women-ran small businesses and that I can share their fabulous pieces with all of you, no matter where you live!
The love, support, friendship, and fellowship that you girls have given me during the 5+ years I’ve been blogging is nothing short of amazing, and it makes my heart SO happy to give back to YOU!
Which is exactly why Sandi and I have teamed up to give away one $250 gift card to Sugar Boutique!
The steps are simple and straight forward and unlike other giveaways where you have to follow tons of accounts, you just need to be following myself and Sugar Boutique! Plus there are a few ways to get extra bonus entries, so be sure to check it out!
From beautiful dresses and investment pieces to super affordable, budget-friendly items like my FANCY tee and leopard skirt as seen in this post; Sugar Boutique offers a wide range of clothing and accessories for every woman!
And speaking of this tee and skirt combo – I seriously can’t get enough of it! I’ve been having a major skirt moment and I love how this super cute blush leopard print skirt takes the tee up a notch while still keeping with the casual vibe! I normally would reach for a pair of cutoff jean shorts, but opting for a fun skirt is a great way to mix things up!
Also, did you know that you can use code SABBY15 to take an additional 15% off your Sugar Boutique order? They are so sweet to offer you girls that exclusive shopping code!
Thank you so much to Sugar Boutique for your ongoing partnership and to all of YOU for supporting the amazing businesses I work with! xoxo

In outfit news, how stinking cute is this $35 yellow floral skirt?! Yellow is quickly becoming my favorite color, as one could tell by my IG feed haha. Spring and Summer is when my zest for bright colors and fun prints really shine, and with that, I wanted to force myself to step out of my comfort zone and start wearing new silhouettes this season. I’ve always been a fan of graphic tees, like this $38 Sunday Funday cutie, but pairing it with a skirt is a bit of a departure for me, as I would normally wear it with cutoff jean shorts!
For the longest time I only looked to my skirt lineup when I needed to go to the office or to a special event. But I’m here to tell you that pairing skirts with fun tops and casual sandals is a great way to get more mileage out of them! I adore the print of this yellow mini and I think the tee gives it a more laid back, sassy look. Not to mention, this skirt is super comfy and so fun to wear! It also doesn’t wrinkle easy, making it a great piece to bring with you on vacation!
Of course you could easily dress this skirt up for work by adding a crisp white blouse and swapping out the espadrille wedges for closed-toe flats or heels. You could also layer a denim jacket or blazer for a completely different vibe! The length of this skirt is perfect for work and play, as it shows just enough leg without feeling like if the wind blows a little too hard you may give everyone a booty show! And it definitely passes the fingertip test – shout out to all those Catholic school girls who know what I’m talking about haha.
Do you like pairing tees with skirts? I think it’s my new favorite combo! I hope you girls have an amazing week and thank you so much for stopping by!
For Size Reference, I’m wearing a Small in the Tee and a Medium in the Skirt!
Thank you to The Pink Pig Boutique for partnering with me on today’s post! As always, all thoughts expressed are sincerely my own. And thank YOU for supporting the wonderful small businesses I work with! xoxo
Thank you to Hefty® EnergyBag® Program for sponsoring today’s blog post and for the opportunity to share my passion for sustainability with you! As always, all thoughts expressed are sincerely my own! And thank YOU for supporting the businesses that allow me to operate Sabby Style full time! Xo
Hi friends and happy Friday! I have some very exciting news to share with you… we are FINALLY starting our renovation! After almost 2 years of talking, planning, and waiting for the timing to be right; we are finally ready to begin. Between deciding which countertops, cabinets, flooring, etc., and then having to resubmit plans to the city for our permit, plus a subcontractor issue; it’s been a slow process, but I couldn’t be more excited for our future remodeled crib!
But before we can start knocking down walls, we have to clear everything out of our house! Talk about a major undertaking. We will either be selling, donating, or tossing majority of our household belongings. I love that we’ll have a blank canvas and can start making this house our home, but I also have some anxiety and guilt about throwing things away. I’m so thankful that the Hefty® EnergyBag® Program will help me put less trash into the dumpster and more into our recycle bin! While I was Spring cleaning my bathroom earlier this week, I was so surprised by just how many things I would typically throw away but can now put into the Hefty® EnergyBag® orange bag!
Here in Omaha, our city’s recycling program allows us to recycle numbers 1,2,3 and 5. And to my surprise, a ton of the beauty products I use are NOT one of those accepted numbers. From my self tanner, face lotion, face serum, body lotion, hair care products, and makeup tubes; they are either numbers 4 or 7 and some of them don’t even have a number at all. It makes me sad to think about how much I’ve personally thrown away in the past, and while I can’t change that, I am hopeful that by participating in the Hefty® EnergyBag® Program, I can help make an impact on the amount of trash that will end up in our city dumps, landfills, and bodies of water!
And if you happen to be an online shopper like myself, you’ll be pleased to know that the plastic bags used to package items can be put into your Hefty® EnergyBag® orange bag, rather than the garbage! In fact, I was just going through a package yesterday and 3 out of the 4 bags had the number 4 on them, which indicates to me I cannot put that bag into my green recycling bin but I can at least put it in my orange Hefty® bag to keep them out of landfills and convert them into valuable energy resources!
In case you missed my first blog post where I shared the list of items that can go in the orange bags, I’ll leave it below for your reference!
Cake mix liners
Plastic cups, plates and bowls
Foam products (Cups, plates, to go containers, packing peanuts)
Potato chip bags
Frozen potato bags
Plastic cheese bags
Plastic pet food bags
Frozen fruit bags
Frozen vegetable bags
Candy wrappers (Tony, I’m looking at you haha)
Plastic liners from powdered mixes
Plastic straws and stirrers
All other non-recycled plastic bags, bottles, and tubes
To participate in the Hefty® EnergyBag® Program, simply collect the plastics listed above in the orange Hefty® bag, close the bags when full, and place the bags inside your recycling bin during your scheduled recycling pick up. There is no need to sign up! If you’re in the Omaha area, I purchased the Hefty® EnergyBag® orange bags from Hy-Vee, but you can also find them at Bakers, Family Fare Supermarkets, Menards, Target or online at www.heftyenergybag.com.
For additional questions or concerns; feel free to visit the resources below!
*** Disclaimer – I had a self tanner mishap and my hands are as orange as the sun, so please disregard!
Hi babes and happy Monday! How was your weekend? On Friday we went to a friend’s surprise 30th birthday and then I paid for it on Saturday with a terrible hangover! Ugh I honestly cannot hang like I used to. But once my headache subsided, I enjoyed a relaxing couch day with my pups and a Chicago PD marathon! Then Sunday afternoon, Tony and I went to the Cirque du Soleil CRYSTAL show and it was amazing! I’ve never seen a Circque show and it was such a neat experience. We ended our date day with sushi and then caught up on our shows – so all in all, it was a great weekend! I’m feeling refreshed and ready to kick butt this week. It’s supposed to be mid-60’s all week, and that Spring sunshine always helps to keep me motivated and on-track with my to do list!
And with this Spring weather, I can finally wear the cute dresses I’ve been stock piling for the last couple months! Springtime in the midwest can be very unpredictable; it could be sunny and 70 in March and 40 with crazy winds in late April – so even though I’ve been shopping for Spring, I still haven’t been able to pack away my cold weather essentials just yet! Which has been such a bummer because Spring and Summer are my style spirit seasons! It’s no secret that bright colors and fun prints make my heart so happy!
So naturally this dress fits right on in with the rest of the closet gang! I adore the floral print and this orangey-red color makes you look tan and is such a fun pop of color! I opted to layer a white tee underneath for some arm and chest coverage – I’m on the bustier side of life, and I’m not loving my arms at the moment, so a tee was the perfect solution for me personally! Though this dress is SO CUTE without a shirt underneath, and once I reach some personal fitness goals in a couple months, I’ll definitely rock this sans shirt!
The cinched waist makes this dress very flattering and comfortable and the adjustable straps give you flexibility in fit, which is super important, as everyone’s body and fit preferences are unique and different! This dress will be perfect with espadrille wedges or white sandals this Summer, but because I was in desperate need of a pedicure and my self tanner mishap also occurred on my feet, white booties were a must for this day of shooting haha. I think it also shows how versatile this dress is!
If you were going to an outdoor festival or concert, tan flat boots or peep-to booties would look darling with this dress. And if you are wanting to dress it up for a bridal or baby shower, white pumps or tan heel sandals would be great, as well! AND if you’re going to an outdoor BBQ or backyard event, white tennis shoes and a ball cap would be a great way to style this dress down for a more casual vibe.
For just $36 + 10% off with code SABBYSTYLE, this dress is a definite Spring and Summer must-have!
Wearing size Medium for reference!

Hi friends and happy Wednesday! In honor of Earth Day earlier this week, I’m teaming up with Hefty® to talk about a topic I’m extremely passionate about; Sustainability! Fun fact about me that most of you don’t know – during my two years in Graduate School, I served on Student Government as a Senator and was the Chair of the Sustainability Committee! I worked tirelessly on campus and city-wide efforts to raise awareness regarding the 3-R’s – Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle – and worked directly with students, faculty & staff, and the citizens of Omaha on Earth Day events. Some of my favorite projects include; launching Zipcar, which is a nationwide car sharing/car rental program, and creating ‘Save Energy, Turn of the Lights’ light switch plates that were installed in every dorm room on campus!
After Graduate School, I took my passion for sustainability to the next level and began working for Keep Omaha Beautiful, which is a nonprofit organization that fosters environmental and community stewardship through education, service, and advocacy. As the Education Program Director, I worked one-on-one with kiddos of all ages to teach them about recycling and water conservation and shared simple steps they could do at home to help our planet and community!
Sustainability, and recycling specifically, is very near and dear to my heart, so when my friends at Hefty®wanted to partner to share the amazing news about the Hefty® EnergyBag® program I was so excited to join them! Nerd Alert – Legit, this program is awesome! There are so many things that unfortunately go in the trash because they aren’t allowed to go in our green recycling bins. So, when I read up on the new Hefty® EnergyBag® Program, my mind was blown. This program allows you to put tons of plastic household and kitchen items in the Hefty® EnergyBag® orange bags that otherwise would have to be thrown away!
Not to get all technical on you, but you have to know how much GOOD the Hefty® EnergyBag® Program CAN and IS doing! By participating in the program, you are directly:
Helping to achieve fewer tons of landfill waste
Helping to convert hard to recycle plastics into alternative energy, which can be used to power businesses, cars and homes
Creating more local energy resources and less fossil energy dependence
Helping to provide a solution for plastics that currently do not have sufficient mechanical recycling end uses
Helping to improve the quality of other recycling streams
After reading the list (see below) of all the types of items, I wished we had this program years and years ago. The Hefty® EnergyBag® Program combined with our city recycling program will truly help our planet and make a world (see what I did there!) of a difference for generations to come!
I’ve bolded the items I throw away the most and will for sure be putting into our Hefty® orange bags!
Cake mix liners
Plastic cups, plates and bowls
Foam products (Cups, plates, to go containers, packing peanuts)
Potato chip bags
Frozen potato bags
Plastic cheese bags
Plastic pet food bags
Frozen fruit bags
Frozen vegetable bags
Candy wrappers (Tony, I’m looking at you haha)
Plastic liners from powdered mixes
Plastic straws and stirrers
All other non-recycled plastic bags
So who’s with me?! To participate in the Hefty® EnergyBag® Program, simply collect the plastics listed above, close the bags when full, and place the bags inside your recycling bin during your scheduled recycling pick up. And that’sit! No need to sign up! If you’re in the Omaha area, I purchased the Hefty® EnergyBag® orange bagsfrom Hy-Vee, but you can also find them at Bakers, Family Fare Supermarkets, Menards or online at www.heftyenergybag.com.
I’m beyond thrilled to put our Hefty® EnergyBag® orange bags to good use, especially as we begin to clear everything out of our house in preparation for our home renovation! I’ll be sharing a Spring-Cleaning post and how we use the Hefty® EnergyBag® Program in our home, so stay tuned for that!
Hi friends and happy Monday! I’m slithering into a new week in this colorful snakeskin top! In case you haven’t heard, snakeskin print is trending big time right now! At first I was admiring this trend from afar, because I wasn’t quite sure if I was “edgy” or “boho” enough for it. I was primarily seeing it in black and white options, and while black and white is such a classic combo, you girls know I don’t wear much black and prefer colorful clothes! So when I was chatting with my friends over at Amelia’s Boutique about which item we wanted to feature this month, they sent me a photo of this top and I knew it was meant for me! When a piece combines bright colors with a trendy print, I’m all in.
This top is super light weight and is an easy breezy number, which is ideal for when temps start to warm up! The print brings the right mix of boldness and femininity and I like that the sleeves are slightly longer than a typical short sleeve top. It is longer in the back, so you could definitely pair it with leggings and a jean jacket if it’s still chilly wear you live! I love how it looks with these flare jeans, for boho vibes (trying to step out of my comfort zone!), and I also plan to wear it with cutoff jean shorts and tan wedges (my go-to look) as soon as the weather permits!
I would say that this top definitely runs on the roomy side, so no need to size up! I’m in a Small and typically wear Medium in shirts and sweaters.
And be sure to use exclusive code SaraApril20 for 20% off this shirt, which makes it just $34!
If you’ve been wanting to try the snakeskin trend, then this top is the perfect way to dip your toe in it without breaking the bank!
Thank you to Amelia’s Boutique for partnering on today’s post! As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are sincerely my own. Thank you for supporting the small businesses I love and have the pleasure to work with! xoxo
Hi friends and happy April! I hope your month and week are off to a great start and that you’re experiencing some semblance of Spring-like weather where you live! It’s been pretty mild/decent here minus a dreary, rainy day today; but I didn’t mind because I had tons of office work, along with household chores to take care of, and there’s nothing worse than being trapped indoors on a beautiful day!
Today I wanted to chat about one of my must-have Spring and Summer wardrobe staples – a versatile white top! Nothing says sunny days quite like a simple white shirt that goes with everything in your closet. In fact, every time I come out of my closet and into the living room before Tony and I leave the house, he jokingly says “Oh, a white t-shirt, that’s different for you” haha! Hey, what can I say, I like what I like and I LOVE white tees, tanks, and blouses for Spring and Summer!
I love how easy breezy this white tie top from Lucy Avenue Boutique is with it’s flutter sleeves and front button detail. I’m pretty particular when it comes to “whites” and prefer cooler, crisp white hues versus creamy, yellow tones. This darling top is the perfect shade of white! The v-neck hits just right on my chest and doesn’t show too much, which I love! Another bonus about this top is that it’s not super sheer. I’m wearing a simple white cami tank tucked underneath, but I’ve worn it with just a nude bra and there was no issue. You could also add a lace bralette that would be super cute, too!
My white top is only $38 + an EXTRA 15% off with code SABBY! For size reference, I’m wearing a Medium.
Pairing white tops with blue jeans and cutoff shorts is my favorite way to wear white shirts, but they are beyond versatile and can be styled for multiple occasions! This top in particular would be totally suitable for the office if worn with a skirt (tucked in or worn showing the tie detail) and with cute cropped pants. When I worked in an office setting, even if it was 100 degrees outside, our building was alway frigid, so light weight cardigan sweaters and knit blazers became my best friends! Layering a jean jacket, or colorful cardigan would be an easy way to dress it up a little bit for work while adding some warmth to avoid freezing arms!
The same goes for offices; bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and really all establishments that run their A/C in the Summer are just so darn cold! That is why I’m a huge fan of duster cardigans and kimonos because they add interest and drama to a simple short and white shirt combo, but they also serve as a blanket when you sit down!
And to celebrate today being National Espadrille Day, I had to share these black ankle strap espadrille platform sandals, also from Lucy Avenue Boutique! I love that they’re not a super high wedge while still offering a little bit of height and they are SUPER comfortable!
These shoes will go effortlessly with maxi dresses, midi skirts, linen shorts, wide leg pants, tailored pixie pants, and casual jean shorts! And they’re only $40 + 15% off with code SABBY!
Lucy Avenue has a huge shoe selection and I’m obsessed with their new Spring lineup, so be sure to check them out here!
So I want to know, what is your ride or die Spring and Summer wardrobe staple!
Thank you to Lucy Avenue Boutique for sponsoring today’s blog post! As always, all thoughts expressed are sincerely my own! Thank you for supporting the amazing small businesses that I work with and allow me to operate Sabby Style full time! xoxo
Hi friends and happy Sunday + last day of March! I’m twirling into April like heyyyyy in this gorgeous striped dress and it’s the epitome of the perfect Spring dress! We’ve finally said sayonara (knock on wood!) to Winter and I think Spring is going to stick, which means warm weather and sunny days are happening around here and I’m dressing/rising for the occasion! When I spotted this beautiful bold and bright dress from Sugar Boutique, I knew it would be ideal for every Spring and Summer occasion!
With Easter right around the corner, this dress went to the top of my special occasion dress list! Whether you’re going to a wedding, a bridal or baby shower, an outdoor cocktail party, or date night followed by Sunday brunch; this dress will take you all the places! Because you girls know I LOVE colorful and fun accessories, I opted for these light weight yellow earrings – also from Sugar Boutique – and my go-to turquoise Sabby Style bracelet set that I pretty much wear every day during the warm weather months! And what Spring and Summer ensemble would be complete without a tan bamboo ark bag. I picked this up late last Summer and have been waiting all Winter to finally break it out again!
This dress can be worn on or off-the-shoulder and the tie belt is adjustable; making it super flattering and versatile depending on where you’re going and how much food you ate haha! I love playing up the colors in the dress, so I went for the bright pink heels, but you could certainly style this dress with nude heels or sandals – I know pink shoes aren’t everyone’s cup of tea! This dress hits just at my knee (I’m 5″2 for reference), so would definitely work for my taller gals, as well! For size reference, I’m wearing a Medium and it fit true to size.
You girls will LOVE this darling striped dress for Spring & Summer and the fact that it’s just $48 makes it that much sweeter! On top of that, Sugar Boutique is offering my Sabby Style readers an exclusive 15% discount with special code SABBY15 when used at checkout. This code is valid on their entire site, as well!
Be sure to tag me on Instagram when you wear your Sugar Boutique items that you see here on my blog! And thank you for supporting the amazing small businesses that I love to collaborate with; we appreciate you SO much! xoxo
