I am a former elementary school teacher, a full-time photographer, lover of all things French ( whose French is slowly improving), obsessive Paris traveler, enthusiastic church and community volunteer, and grandmother to 5 delightful grandchildren. Blog by Virginia.
The Centre Pompidou is not my most favorite museum in Paris but it's a space that should be visited. It's inside out architecture , it opened in 1977. There are always a number of contemporary exhibits and the view from the top is stunning.
This is one of the displays of Elliott Erwitt's photogeraphy books during the exhibit at La Hune, in 2015. This blog post reminded me to order his Paris book!
Fast forward to November, 2017. I was lucky enough to FINALLY attend Paris Photo at the Grand Palais. It's sensory overload as there are HUNDREDS of photography exhibits under the glass dome. It's been on my TO DO list for years and it was overwhelming but thrilling. The highlight was getting to snap 2 quick photos of Monsieur Elliott himself. I was so awestruck, all I could do was pat his shoulder and mumble, "I'm honored."
In November, 2017, I stopped in at La Hunt Gallery on rue Bonaparte to have a look at the Elliott Erwitt exhibit. Monsieur Erwitt had been there signing books t he night we arrived, but alas we missed that. I've always enjoyed the windows and several exhibits here through the years. Sadly, just 2 days later, the gallery burned. They have thankfully moved to another location in the Saint Germain area.
Today and for the next few days, I'll share some images from the exhibit.
