Bakers & Spice is synonymous with locally sourced organic food. They stand true to their philosophy Local | organic |  fresh | homemade. They are an award-winning food shop and restaurant with branches all over the middle east.

Recently they have opened their 12th Branch in The S hotel, Al Barsha South Area.
The place is very spacious and well lit. There is an open kitchen and also counter where the everyday specials are displayed. There were a variety of salads, poultry and meat dishes and freshly prepared croissants on display.

They also sell pickles, olive oil, pomegranate molasses sauce, etc.
The staff is very courteous and know the items on the menu well.
We ordered the Passion fruit Mojito, A beetroot drink, Avocado feta salad, oven-baked octopus and Pulled chicken sandwich.
The drinks were very refreshing. I loved the tomato confit in the avocado feta salad. It was very flavorful and melted in the mouth.

Next up, we ordered the oven-baked octopus. This was my first time trying the octopus and I was very reluctant. But the octopus was slow-cooked for more than two hours and the tomatoes and spices made it very flavourful. The taste was very similar to that of a squid but a bit chewier.
The sandwich was simple, yet very filling. I loved the green sauce that was used in the sandwich.

At the end of the meal, we ordered the cappuccino and the Cortado. The Cortado is a special coffee shot served with sparkling water as a palate cleanser. We loved the Ethiopian brew coffee.

I loved the farm to table concept and the fact that everything is organic, locally sourced and freshly prepared every day from scratch. Surely will visit the place for more healthy and delicious treats.

XOXO

Café Bazza is a popular Arabic restaurant concept that specializes in authentic Kuwaiti Homestyle dishes with a modern twist. They have branches all over the middle-east.

Located right opposite to the Coco Cola Arena in the plush City Walk area, their branch in Dubai is a must-visit if you are craving for some Kuwaiti breakfast, lunch or dinner. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Since we visited in the afternoon, we preferred the indoor seating. The interiors are elegant with minimal decors. There is an entire row of Vimto bottles at the juice counter, showing the Middle-Easts obsession with the famous drink. There is an open gallery where they have showcased beautiful and traditional middle-eastern artifacts like the sewing machine, the drums, etc.

The temperature outside was over 40 C that day and we had to order something cold. I relished the rose slush, while my friends enjoyed the chilled Almond milk, Vimto Slush, and Mango Juice,

Mango Juice, Vimto Slush, Almond Milk, Rose Slush,

For the starters, we had the Hummus with meat, Falafel Salad, Eggplant Salad, Chicken Shawarma Platter and Chicken Wings.  I loved their signature Falafel Salad. The Chicken wings with hot garlic sauce were also drool-worthy.  The Chicken Shawarma was very filling. As I am not a fan of eggplants, I did not have the salad.

  • Falafel Salad
  • Shawarma Platter
  • Hummus with meat
  • Eggplant salad
  • Chicken wings

We were already full after having all the delicious appetizers. For the Mains, we had the Biriyani Chicken and Shrimp Fries. The Biriyani chicken was very flavorful. I love the crunchy fried onions on the top. The chicken in the Biriyani was succulent and well cooked.  The fried shrimps were a bit too oily for my liking. They could have served it with some other sauce instead of the ketchup.

Last, but not the least, the desserts, we ordered the Tanoor Bread Nutella and Oreo Pudding with ice cream. The Oreo Pudding with ice cream was yum.  The Tanoor Bread with Nutella is surely a treat for Nutella lovers.

The service is on-point. The staff is very friendly and helpful in explaining the dishes. A great place to stop by for the Kuwaiti treats if you are around City Walk Area.

XO

Delicious Food, Great Cocktails, Impeccable service, and Live matches.  Fisherman’s Hub, a retro-pub in Bur Dubai has it all.

The family-friendly pub ( Yes, they have a family section away from the bar and smoking area) is in Orchid Vue Hotel, Bur Dubai.  The interiors are dim lit and there is live cricket match being telecasted on all the screens. The bar area is beautiful with neon lamps and colors lights.

We were warmly welcomed by the staff who served us Chakna and popcorns while we waited for our friends to arrive. We started off with the drinks. Mixologist Abhishek showed us how he prepares some of the signature cocktails. We tried the Frozen Strawberry Margarita, The Hong Kong Cooler and the Appletini. Yummmyy!!!

  • Strawberry Margarita
  • HongKong Coolers
  • Appletini

The staff is very friendly and helped us select the starters. I was surprised to see an entire page on the menu dedicated to Mangalorean cuisines.

For starters, we tried various seafood, chicken and mutton items. The Thai Gin balls, Green dry chicken (Mangalorean style), Chicken Tangdi with Stuffed Kheema, Chicken Barra and Steamed Fish were all outstanding- both quantity and taste wise.  Each and every dish was flavorful and presented beautifully.

  • Thai Gin Balls
  • Steamed Fish
  • Green Chicken Dry
  • Chicken Hazare
  • Mutton Barra
  • Chicken Tangdi with stuffed Kheema

Next up were some more Mangalorean delicacies like  Mussels Sukka with Pundi (Rice balls), Prawns masala with Neer Dosa. These did not disappoint either. By now, we were too full to have any more dishes.

  • Mussels Sukka and Pundi
  • Prawns Masala

We ended the meal with some more drinks. The Mixologist made us Pina Colada, A new drink with cherry Brandy and the highlight of the evening – Watermelon Fest. This drink was a burst of fruity flavors and alcohol. Absolutely loved it.

This is a restro-pub with exceptionally delicious food and great drinks. We loved the hospitality here. Being a Mangalorean, the food here hit close to home. Surely coming back to try out some more dishes.

Thanks for hosting us Fisherman’s Hub. Thanks to Suren @Surenrajmohan for introducing me to this gem of a place.

Love

xoxo

Pita Pit is a healthy food concept with the tag line – Fresh thinking, Healthy Eating. it is a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) chain that has a unique approach towards providing healthy alternatives to the typical fast food options available.  With over 600 outlets across the globe, Pita Pit is creating a revolution with healthy and vegan food options. I recently came across their outlet in Media City, Dubai and decided to check it out with a few of my blogger friends.

The media city outlet is nestled in greenery. It is a mid-size eatery with outdoor seating options as well. The manager introduced us to the concept of the restaurant and showed us around.

Pita Pit uses freshly made Pita Breads for all their wraps. The wraps are entirely customizable with an option of 3 spreads, 16 veggies, Proteins and a variety of sauces. If you are on the go, you can order some of the chef’s special from the menu.

They also specialize in Salads and Smoothies.  The portions are filling and there is no sugar added in their juices and smoothies. We tried the Green Machine Smoothie, the Raspberry smoothie, and a few others. It was very refreshing.

I loved the falafel salad bowl. It was packed with flavors and goodness of veggies, while my friends relished the Guac and Grilled beef salad (one of the chef’s special)

For the wraps, we tried the Chef’s special Chicken Tikka and the Halloumi petita . Both tasted great. We washed it down with some cherry Cola and rose lemonades.

I also loved the Pita Crisps which were served with guac/yogurt/ Hummus Dip. They are priced at around 6 AED  and healthy alternative to tortilla chips.

We ended our meet with some Bonbons with chocolate and Mixed Fruit Fillings. These tiny dessert bites are great for portion control and cost around  6 AED.

Overall,  I love the fact that healthy food doesn’t mean having to compromise with the taste. The wraps and salads at Pita Pit are an entire meal and not very heavy on the pocket.  This place should be a must visit if you are looking for dieting or binging on healthy good food.

May was an amazing month for us. Mr. M and I had our birthdays and Anniversary during the month. I won a giveaway by Asian Wok on my birthday this year. The voucher included a delivery / dine-in at their restaurant in JLT. We decided to redeem the voucher for lunch delivery.

The person handling their social media was very helpful in taking our order and scheduling the delivery. Asian Wok Delivers to nearby areas (around JLT) in about 20 minutes.

I ordered the two starters, one stir fry and one noodle from them. The delivery was on time and came with complementary shrimp crackers. Food was very neatly packed in recyclable paper boxes, with food labels on each box. Asian Wok strictly has no added MSG or any added artificial flavors or colors to any of their dishes or cooking.

Let’s talk about the food now. My order included Satay Chicken, Fried Seafood Wontons, Veg Kung Pao and stir-fried Soft Noodles.

The Satay Chicken was marinated and grilled so well that it was melting in my mouth. The wontons were crisp and tasty. The Veg Kung Pao was a bit soggy because of all the time I took for taking pictures. The kung pao sauce had a tinge of sweetness. The chicken soft noodles were yummy too. The sauce was a bit spicy and flavorful.

  • Satay Chicken
  • Fried Sea Food Wonton
  • Kung Pao
  • Soft Noodles

The portions served at the Asian Wok are good enough for two people. The prices are great and they usually have discounts on Zomato.  This place guarantees to satisfy your Asian Food cravings.

Surely ordering from them again.

Kulfi is one of the most sought after Indian Desserts. Also known as the Indian Icecream, this delicacy is made with boiled and sweetened milk and is available in a variety of flavors. Kulfis and Faloodas are the best way to beat Dubai Summers.
We recently visited a new Kulfi outlet, Kulfilicious in Al Barsha area.
The place is tastefully decorated in white and blue shades. The place gives beachy street vibe, complete with zebra crossings, street signs, and an auto rickshaw. This restaurant is Instagram perfect.

All the items on the Kulfilicious Menu are Freshly made using natural ingredients and are free from preservatives.

They have a self-service policy and we have to order at the counter.
We ordered Oreo Kulfi Bowl, their best seller – Royal Kulfi Falooda and Kala Katta Gola.

The serving in the Kulfi Bowl is enough for two people. The Kulfi was fresh and very creamy. I liked the Oreo flavored Kulfi Cubes.

For the Royal Kulfi Falooda, we had to select three flavors. The portions are really filling. The flavors were rich, but not overwhelming. The sweetness was perfect too. This Royal Kulfi Falooda is surely a must-have at Kulfilicious.

Last but not least, we had the Gola in my favorite Kala Katta flavor. We can select any number of flavors, but I thought to keep it simple. It was served with the cola salt and chaat masala.

We loved our visit to Kulfilicous and will surely visit them to try out more flavors. Kulfilicious has branches all over the Middle East. Do check them out to satisfy your sweets cravings.

Down Town Café is our recent discovery in Karama Area and we are very glad we found this place.

Down Town Café is a well-known restaurant in Kochi and Calicut for their delightful Italian Food. They have won best restaurant awards in Kochi by IFA in the year 2018. The Karama branch has been open for two years now and has been nominated for the best café in Dubai.

The restaurant is very spacious and beautiful.  The blue interiors at the restaurant is very calming and inviting. There are cozy and grand velvet couches and wooden furniture seating. The wooden furniture adds a rustic vibe to the place. The best part of the restaurant is – it is a wifi free zone.  The DownTown Café emphasizes on real connection with friends and family. There is a well-stocked library with books from some of my favorite authors. We also found all kinds of board games.

The staff introduced us to the special items on their menu. The menu is very cute and elaborate.

For the appetizers we tried

Crunchy Cocktail Shrimps (32 AED)- The battered and fried shrimps tossed in a delicious sauce. The Shrimps were crunchy till the last bite.

Dynamite Fries (22 AED) – The fried were loaded with cheese and jalapenos. We relished it.

For the drinks, we tried the Hemoglobin (22 AED) &  Melemon (15 AED). Both the drinks were healthy and refreshing. DTC also serve various shakes and coffees.

For the mains we had

Coco basa (38 AED) —coconut oil flavored grilled basa fish served with garlic butter & creamy veggies. This was one of my favorite dishes at the restaurant. I absolutely loved the hint of coconut flavors.

DT flakes & flames (44 AED) – One of their Signature Dishes. The fusilli pasta with spicy pink sauce was delicious. Definitely satisfies your spice cravings.

Chicken portabello – Perfectly grilled chicken with Portabello sauce served with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. We savored it in no time.

Avocado cheesecake with lotus base: This dish is a must have!!  I was blown away by this. This was my first time trying the avocado cheesecake and I was impressed. The Lotus base complemented the cheesecake really well. The presentation was also very pretty. This is now my favorite dessert.

The presentations of all the dishes were on point. We loved each and every item that was served.  Thanks to Mr. Shiju for the wonderful hospitality. The prices are mid-range and the food is worth every penny.

I am definitely coming back to this restaurant to try out other dishes from their menu and also to have the Coco Basa and Avocado Cheesecake.

Looking forward to visiting their new branch which is going to open in Sheikh Zayed Road next month.

XOXO

Dabang Kathi and Curry is a new outlet at Dubai Marina mall food court. I had an opportunity to host a bloggers meet at this newly opened venue.

Dabang Kathi and Curry is an Indian food outlet and serves limited menu dishes with really quirky names. Their outlet and the menu is Bollywood inspired. You can see some really cool Bollywood themed posters and frames at the outlet. Their menu mainly focuses on Kathis, curries and Rice items.

Kathi Roll is famous street food in Kolkata. “Kathi” means skewers. So the Kathi Rolls are Skewer grilled food rolled in buttery paranthas/Roti and topped off with chutney and spices.

At Dabang, you can choose from their normal Roti or the whole wheat Roti options. We tried the Park Street Chicken Roll, Bang Bang Paneer Rolls, and the Salam Bombay Mutton Roll.  The Rolls were served with fries, tomato sauce and green chutney on the side. The Rolls were full of flavor and very filling. The green chutney was freshly prepared and very spicy. I loved the Park Street Chicken Rolls and my vegeterian friends loved the Paneer Rolls.

Next up were the Curries. We tried the Mother India’s Paneer Masala, Kuldeep’s Special Dal Namaste chicken Curry. We had the piping hot and soft Naans to go with the curries. Everything was well cooked and smelled delicious.  There weren’t many veg options, but the Paneer Masala was very delicious. I also loved the Namaste Chicken curry. The daal was creamy and good, but the wow factor was missing.

We also ordered their Masala tea and Mango Lassi. Both the beverages were outstanding.

Dabang also serves the Biriyanis. We tried the Vegetarian and the chicken Biriyani. The Vegetarian Biriyani was loaded with veggies.  Honestly, the Biriyanis lacked flavor and it was very bland for my liking.

The desserts were the amazing here. The cloud 9 carrot pudding aka Gajar Halwa was heavenly. The Rasmalai Resoution and Kulfi bliss were great too. The Kulfi was so soft and creamy, definitely one of the best ones I have had.

I will surely recommend the Park Street Kathi, Chicken curry and the desserts from here. The masala tea and the Mango lassi are also a must-have. They have some amazing combo meal deals that are very budget-friendly.

Thanks to Mr. Gaurav and Ms. Aarang for being amazing hosts and telling us all about the journey of Dabang Kathis from the streets of Kolkata to Dubai.

La Vigna is an Italian restaurant in Century Village. The Century Village is a beautiful food hub for al fresco dining in the Garhoud Area. The place reminds you of beautiful European Villages with cobbled pathways, plenty of greenery, fountains. It makes the perfect venue to spend the weekends with family and friends.

As I walked into La Vigna, I was blown away by the cozy and charming interiors. The rustic brick walls, low mood lighting, the wooden chairs, the grand stairs- creates a cozy ambiance. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating.

We chose to sit outside as the weather was great. We were welcomed with a bread basket which was served with Olive oil and balsamic. The breads were fresh and delicious .  They have an extensive bar menu with a variety of Wines to choose from. I tried their mocktail – Lady suzy which was a blend of apple, orange juices and peach syrup with soda. It was a very refreshing drink.

Lady Suzy

Coming to the food, we started off with the  Caprese – The salad with Buffalo Mozzarella cheese slices, cherry tomatoes and basil leaves.

Caprese

Next up were some hot appetizers

Bruschetta – This was loaded with olives, mushrooms, tomatoes, and mozzarella. The bread was just perfect.

Frittura Mista con Insalata Verde: This was my favorite. I loved the crisp fried calamaries ( I don’t eat prawns and shrimps) The dish was served with green salad and the Tartare sauce. Perfect combination.

For the mains we had :

Petto di Pollo alla Pizalola:  The seasoned and grilled chicken breast topped with tomato sauce and served with veggies and mashed potatoes on the side. The chicken was tender and grilled to perfection.

Frutti di Mare: King Prawns, Mussels and Calamari in Mustard Cream sauce and Cheese served with veggies and Mashed potatoes on the side. The seafood was fresh and tasted yummy. The sauce was excellent.

Next up was the Pizza :

Quatro Stagioni: Tomato sauce with mozzarella cheese, Turkey ham, artichoke, olives, and mushrooms. The pizza was tasty. The slices were huge and I was really struggling to finish mine.

We ended the meal on a sweet note with Tiramisu and The crema caramellata con Frutti di Bosco, i.e. caramel cream topped with mixed berries. Both the desserts were done perfectly.

Overall, I loved the food here. The ingredients used are fresh. The presentation is on point and the portions are filling. Considering the food and the location, the prices are justified. La Vigna is added to my list of favorite restaurants in Dubai. Highly recommended.

Bar Baar is a famous Gastro Pub in the Majestic Retreat Hotels in Mankhool.  The entire place is Bollywood themed with some really quirky wall arts. I loved the theme of the interiors. The place is lit with hundreds of Edison light bulbs. There are high chairs and couches as well. They have an elevated area which gives you a glimpse of their open kitchen. The elevated area is beautifully decorated with antique items like mirror, transistors, and artifacts.

Bar Baar recently launched their Gully Boy Menu. The name is derived from the recent movie “Gully Boy”, which took the Bollywood by storm with its storyline and rap songs. “The Apna Time Ayega “Rap number was sung by actor Ranveer Singh himself. True to the name, this new Gully Boy Menu focuses on the food from the Gullies (streets) of India.

Since we had gone to the event in the afternoon, the place wasn’t very crowded. Initially, the DJ was playing all the hit numbers of the Boy. Later, the live band got us grooving to some of the famous bollywood numbers.

My friend and I tried only the vegetarian dishes and were delighted by the authentic taste of the street food.

Rastavala Kandha Bajiya

Ek  Dum mast momos

Bantai Tawa Pulao

Mere Paneer mein Chilli hein

Chapri Style Misal Pav.

My favorites among them were the Kandha Bhajiya (Onion Fritters) served with Green Chutney, Vegetable Stuffed Momos which were served with spiciest Momo chutney and the green Chutney. The Tawa Pulav and the Paneer Chilli also tasted great. I was a little disappointed by the Misal Pav.

Coming to the drinks, I tried some of their India-inspired cocktails

I loved the Cutting Chai, which was a whiskey-based cocktail and then got myself Ek Number chuski. It was a Gola with vodka+kala Katta! Really innovative I must say.

My friend tried the mock tails Emami Sherbet and the Raspberry Soda. Surprisingly there were no desserts on the menu.

If you are craving for some spicy Indian Street food and some unique cocktail mixes, this place is a must visit. Overall we had a great time at the menu launch event. The event was very well organized and loved taking all the crazy pictures with Gully Boy cutouts. I am surely coming back with my hubby to try out their non-veg dishes and their Thela Baar Brunch.

Xoxo
