I won’t cry for you, my mascara is too expensive.
Adriana Lima.
I received the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara in the last months VoxBox by Influenster.
Influenster is an app with million users who review products of all categories – Beauty, Fitness, Home, Pets etc. If you are active on the app, you get qualified to receive products from them for review purposes. You don’t have to a blogger or a youtube to be a part of the influenster family. Since signing up, I have received few products from Max Factor and now Marc Jacobs. If you are interested, you can sign up here.
So, here is the review of the Velvet Noir:
The Marc Jacob Velvet Noir is available at all Sephora stores and is priced at 140 AED. (26 USD). The mascara comes in a hexagonal sleek tube with silver embossed ‘Marc Jacobs’ lettering. The wand is hourglass in shape. The packaging is elegant.
The formula is parabens, sulfates, phthalates free. The pigmentation is jet black and adds so much drama to the eyes. The texture is quite thick which results in slight clumping. But, the brush makes it pretty easy to comb and separate out the lashes.
The three coats of mascara give the lashes great dimension and volume. But it doesn’t add much length or curl to the lashes. If you have straight lashes like me, it is better to use the lash curler before the mascara.
Velvet Noir gives the feeling of fake lashes without having to put on those heavy fake lashes.
The mascara also takes a little longer to dry but once it dries, it almost stays for good 6-8 hours. It doesn’t smudge, and flakes very rarely (when it does, its minor). Removal is no problem at all, pretty much any cleanser or wipe can take away every trace of Velvet Noir.
Before and After :
Overall, This is great mascara both for everyday use and date nights. Having said that, there are several drugstore mascaras that give voluminous lashes without breaking the bank. ( considering the mascaras expire in three months).
*I received this product complimentary from Influenster for review and testing purposes.*

I was one of the winners of the International Day of Happiness competition organized by the Rove Hotel and won a staycation at their Healthcare City Hotel.

We redeemed the voucher during the first week of September and this blog is my review of my stay there

About :

Rove Healthcare city is located in Bur Dubai, just 15 minutes from the Dubai International Airport and perfect for both business and leisure stays. This mid-price range hotel by the Emaar group is an 11 floors property with 286 rooms.

The first thing that comes to your mind when you enter Rove is “Instagram Friendly”. The interiors are funky and surely please the Gen Y! Also the Arabic influences like the ancient trunks, geometric wallpapers add to the charm of the place. The lobby lounge is really a beautiful area with an eclectic collection of artwork installations and cozy sofas to sit and socialize.

The check-in was a breeze. The reception staff was very helpful and I am grateful that they let me check-in (I forgot my voucher at home: P) The room was simple but Instagram friendly like the rest of the hotel. The walls had large badges and slogans. The 48 Inch TV has the mirror screening option ( which is not available in most hotels ) thus helping us to watch our favorite Netflix show on TV. There was no bathtub but the large shower had both overhead rain shower and a hand-held showerhead. The toiletries like toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving kit etc are not available readily and are charged 5 AED when ordered via room service. I liked the concept of eco-friendly and sustainable service at the Roves. The bio soap, shower gel, and shampoo were available in the rooms in reusable bottles.

There is also a zoom store within the hotel building, but I recommend avoiding purchasing stuff from there as the prices are ridiculously more than any normal store.

The bed was super soft and comfortable and I slept like a baby. The next day, we had a lazy start and headed to our breakfast at the in-house restaurant “The Daily”.  The breakfast buffet is not very extensive but everything was delicious.  I especially loved the poached eggs on avo toast.  The interiors are very beautiful with a lot of natural lighting.  We checked out of the hotel by 1 PM.

If you are looking for a neat, decent and affordable stay in and around Dubai, Rove Hotels is the place for you. Definitely recommended. The Healthcare city branch is perfect for your business stay or a leisure getaway.

Thank you Rove Hotels for having us.

We all need a dose of sunshine on gloomy days. I literally received some sunshine when I was feeling all gloomy about blogging.

I am pleased to announce that I have been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger award by Elise from
Eliseenrose.com. She is currently in Paris and blogs about her life there.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger award is given by bloggers to bloggers who inspire positivity and creativity in the blogging community.

The rules:

Thank the blogger who nominated them and link back to their blog.
Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated them.
Nominate 11 other blogs and give them 11 new questions to answer.
Notify your nominees and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post or page.

So here are the 11 questions she asked me:

What is your favorite holiday?
My favorite holiday destination is Gudauri, Georgia which we visited last year. It was my first time at the snow resort and we had a great time playing there. Would surely love to be back there again.

• If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
I could eat south Indian dishes like Idli and Dosa, all day every day. I have grown up eating it and would never be bored with the staple food.

Active holiday or a do-nothing-laying-by-the-pool holiday?
I like the activity day. A day doing nothing is a day wasted for me. When we visit a new place, or when we are on a holiday, we make sure we explore the places and also relax.

Going to a restaurant or ordering take-out and eat in?

I prefer take-outs and home delivery. Nothing like eating in loungewear! However, occasional visits to fancy restaurants are always a welcome ????

Apple or Android?
Apple fan forever. I have been using Apple iPhone 6s for two years now and I am in love with it. I guess I can never go back to Android.

Other than your hometown, what is your favorite place and why?
I love my current home, Dubai. The place is so vibrant and so happening. The place is so safe too.

What is your favorite color?
Black. This is one color one can never go wrong with.

If your life would be a TV-show, what show would it be?
Wish it was as exciting as the Sherlock Holmes!

Coffee or Tea?

The coffee person through n through.

• Mountains or the beach?
I have spent most of my life in close proximity to the beaches. My home, native and the current city I am in are all coastal areas. So beach for me is like therapy.

• What is your secret talent?
Hmm… I can whistle tunes and climb trees.

So here are my nominees for the award ( I am tagging only 7 )
