Oh Honey by Kayleigh Kosmas - 6M ago

Happy new year, friends! I hope you had a festive and restful holiday season with your loved ones. I’m starting the year of with a tasty, nutrient-packed green smoothie for you because, if you browse around the blog, you’ll probably notice I have a sweet tooth. And that is the biggest understatement of the year so far! Anyway, most of what I posted here last year represented me indulging my love for sweets and not the kind of food I actually eat all the time. This green smoothie, on the other hand, is the kind of thing I make every day because it gives me a serving of greens and it’s so easy to drink on the go or while multitasking. So many of us endeavor to eat well early on in the year, but the motivation fades as we run short on time or grow bored with salads. Green smoothies are my favorite way to mix things up in the veggie department and they’re also a real time saver. I make them ahead of time and grab one as I head out the door. It’s a habit that’s actually easy and enjoyable to keep up all year!I always use […]

When Ponny and I were first married we went all out for Christmas. We cut down our own tree and strung it with lights, played Christmas records and hung matching stockings–even one for our cat, Bisou. For the past couple years though, as we’ve gotten busier and the novelty of decorating just for the two of us wore off, we’ve kept our holiday celebrations low key and mostly food-based. This year we have a really good reason for a music and lights kind of Christmas: for the first time, we’re a family of four (I’m counting Bisou in there)! This year is all about starting our little family’s holiday traditions, and while some will have to wait until Will is older, I have a few in mind that I’ll start this year. First, I plan to start sending Christmas cards. It’s a thoughtful way to stay in touch with friends and family who live far away, as well as a good excuse to get some nice family pictures taken every year. I used Basic Invite to print these cards and the experience couldn’t have been easier. The only reason it took me a while to design my cards is that […]

Oh Honey by Kayleigh Kosmas - 8M ago

Last week, Portland was gray and rainy and this week we had days in the mid-80s. It’s that funny time of year when the seasons haven’t made up their mind and I actually love it—after a glimpse of fall it’s like one last chance to say goodbye to the warm glow of summer until next year. And it means I’ve had a chance to sip this coconut chai tea latte both hot and iced in the past few days, and I can’t pick a favorite. October, you are the best of both worlds. This latte is a earthy, spicy blend of Organic Rainforest Chai, a new favorite of mine from Stash Tea, creamy coconut milk and a drizzle of spiced simple syrup for sweetness and extra flavor. Poured over ice, the coconut is smooth and refreshing while the spices are strong and zingy. Sipped from a cozy mug, the cinnamon and ginger warm you up from the inside while the black tea and yerba mate keep you awake as the sun sets ever earlier. If you have the time, the simple syrup really does highlight the tea’s flavors in a way that plain sugar doesn’t. It only takes a few […]
