Quick Adoption Overview

All about Zoe
Sweet and sensitive gal Zoe arrived in our care on June 28 after her owner's passing. She is getting herself settled and so far is proving to be a wonderful Newf.  She is well mannered, gentle and friendly, a real gem!

Looking cute as can be after a close trim to address skin issues
Zoe's vet care has begun, and her mobility is good with no orthopedic issues.   She is currently overweight and needs to drop about 15 lbs.  Her initial thyroid results show her levels sitting at "low normal" so a full thyroid panel has been done to determine if she needs meds.  Updates to follow.

Zoe arrived with a very full coat and lots of dry, itchy, irritated skin.  She has been clipped down to facilitate treatment of her bacterial skin issues that are over a significant part of her body.  Topical and oral treatment has been started to clear up her skin and ear issues and we hope to have her feeling loads better very soon.

Zoe is a very sweet girl who gets along well with other dogs and could happily join a family with another four-footed pal for her to play with.

To be considered for adopting a dog through Newf Friends please submit a completed application, which can be found on the CONTACT US/FORMS page. Before completing an application or emailing us with questions, please review our FAQ page.  As outlined on our FAQ page, applicants who do not meet our adoption requirements (ie. no fenced play area, living in an apartment building, having young children, etc.) will not be considered -- please do not email us asking us to make an exception.

All about Nya

This adorable pup is as sweet as can be, full of puppy exuberance and looking for a wonderful family to call her own.

A typical young pup, she needs some work on her manners and commands, but overall she is a real gem.  Nya is willing to learn and will quickly blossom into a well-mannered Newf in the care of a family who have the time to work with her.

Nya gets along very well with other dogs and will be happiest in a home where she will have another four-footed playmate.  She loves to run and romp with the resident newf in her foster family's home. She is also good with cats (good girl!).

Nya is a lovebug she loves to give slobbery kisses and get belly rubs when she wakes up in the morning. She is a real sweetie pie who has loads of love to give.

Nya is current on vaccines and appears to be in good health.

An adoption donation and spay deposit will apply.

Boy oh boy, we're UP TO OUR KNEES in vet bills and we need your help badly!

We have Newfs with blown knees coming out of our ears!  This month in addition to our regular vet care, we have 4 dogs in our program all in need of orthopedic surgery (TPLO) for their knees.  Your help is desperately needed to raise funds to help us cover the costs of these specialized surgeries.

Sullivan - requires TPLO to repair a failed (non-tplo) surgery
Rhue - requires bilateral TPLO - we are doing this in two surgeries with a couple weeks in between
Walter - requires arthroscopic surgery for OCD in his shoulder, followed by TPLO
Maia (arriving soon) - will likely require TPLO surgery

Our total for orthopedic surgeries, with our rescue discount, will be over $15,000.
Gulp.

We'd like to bring in $10,000 this month to help offset these expenses, and we need your help!  Every penny helps, so please give what you can, no amount is too small.  To donate, please visit https://newf-friends.blogspot.com/p/donate.html
Tax receipts will be issued for your kind donation over $20
Thank you for your support!

All about Maia

Sweet Maia is a gentle, mellow gal who found herself in our care through no fault of her own. She has nice manners, is friendly and affectionate, and doesn't have a mean bone in her body.

This cutie gets along nicely with other dogs and once ready for adoption could happily join a home with another four-footed pal.  She is also good with cats.

Maia arrived in our care in significant pain due to an untreated knee injury.  Xrays are pending and we suspect we will be having TPLO done to repair the ligament -- more information will be posted as her vet assessment is completed.

Details to come.

HUGO
2018-009

On hold pending medical assessment

Quick Adoption Overview
DOB August 22, 2006
Located in Finch, ON
Fenced yard required
Before applying to adopt a dog or emailing us with questions, please read the dog's entire bio and review our FAQ page.  Emails asking questions that are answered on that page will not be responded to.
All about
Hugo is gentle, friendly, loving and sweet as can be. Young at heart, this silly boy has a sparkle in his eye and loves to greet everyone with a wagging tail and smiling face.

This adorable ol' boy arrived in our care through no fault of his own when his owners were moving overseas and did not want to put him through the stress of a huge move like that.   He is settling into his foster home nicely, gets along with other dogs and is an all-around lovely boy.

On intake, we noted that his gait was poor and that he seemed uncomfortable.  We have started him on anti-inflammatory meds and he is doing MUCH better and now has a spring in his step and is moving around a lot more.  Yay!

Hugo takes thyroid meds to keep his thyroid function in check.  He is current on his rabies vaccine and is HW and Lyme free.

He is underweight at the moment and we are waiting on results of his full geriatric blood panel to see if there are any underlying issues.  Results should be back June 5.  Updates to follow.

Rhue
2018-008
Quick Adoption Overview
DOB 3 years old
Newf x Pyr
Located in Thornhill, ON
Good with dogs
Playful with cats
Fenced yard required
Before applying to adopt a dog or emailing us with questions, please read the dog's entire bio and review our FAQ page.  Emails asking questions that are answered on that page will not be responded to.

All about Rhue

This sweet girl is a friendly and affectionate Newf x Pyr cross who is pretty as can be!  Rhue has nice house manners, knows some basic commands and is a gentle girl.

She came to our program when her owner moved into an apartment building that was not a suitable environment for her.  She has settled into her foster home nicely and is doing well with the adjustment.

Rhue gets along with well-mannered dogs although she can be mildly protective of her water bowl.  She could join a home with another dog with owners who are experienced in managing a multi-dog household, or she would be equally happy being the only dog.

Rhue has been spayed and is current on vaccines. She is quite overweight but with a healthy diet and lots of exercise we expect the pounds will drop off quickly.

He has lived happily with cats and is fine with well mannered dogs.  Further assessments pending, details to follow.

ROSE
2018-006

On medical hold pending surgery

Quick Adoption Overview
DOB February 8, 2017
Located in Mississauga, ON
Fenced yard required
Before applying to adopt a dog or emailing us with questions, please read the dog's entire bio and review our FAQ page.  Emails asking questions that are answered on that page will not be responded to.

All about Rose
This sweet 1-year-old gal is a real catch!  Friendly, well mannered, gentle and lovable as can be, Rose will be the perfect addition to a loving family.

She knows basic commands, walks nicely on leash, has lovely house manners, and is an all-around wonderful gal.  Sure, she has her moments of puppy silliness, but she is eager to please and quick to learn.

Rose gets along with well-mannered dogs and could happily join a home with dogs, cats or other critters.  She is gentle and friendly and such a good girl!  Here she is with her foster sister Peggy (Rose on the left, Peggy on the right.)

Rose came to us when her owners were not able to meet her health needs.  They made the loving decision to surrender her to our program so that we could get to the bottom of her recurring bladder infections and get her on the road to good health.

Rose is currently on medication to clear an infection and we will be having surgery performed to correct her inverted vulva that we suspect might be the cause of the recurring infections.  Once she is healed from the surgery we will monitor to see if that solved the issue, otherwise, she will likely need to be on prescription food to maintain urinary health.  Updates to follow.

Quick Adoption Overview
DOB 7 years old
Located in Barrie, ON
Fenced yard required

Before applying to adopt a dog or emailing us with questions, please read the dog's entire bio and review our FAQ page.  Emails asking questions that are answered on that page will not be responded to.

All about Bentley

This sweet fellow arrived in our care on February 21 and is getting settled into his foster home.  We are told he is a Newf/Mastiff/Bernese Mountain Dog mix.  Whatever he is, he's a cutie!

Bentley has nice house manners and is a gentle, friendly boy.

He has lived his entire life with his brother Monty and gets along well with other dogs.  He does become excited on-leash when he sees a dog (he is excited to greet them) and all of his leash manners go out the window--his foster family will be working on this!

Bentley and his brother Montego were turned over to a shelter when their owner passed away.  We were asked by the shelter to bring the boys into our care......how could we say no to these faces?

Bentley has been neutered and brought up to date on vaccines.

He is currently under assessment in foster care.  Further details will be posted as we get to know him.

To be considered for adopting a dog through Newf Friends please submit a completed application, which can be found on the CONTACT US/FORMS page.
