Make positivity a habit. And if you are an entrepreneur, this habit will hold your finger to take you to the goal. Because the very decision to move in your own chosen direction requires a much-needed dose of positivity. It is a part of your self-responsibility that will give power to your venture.  As it is rightly said, ‘attitude is everything’. Your correct attitude towards your life gets reflected in your work. Entrepreneurs are by default ‘risk takers’, therefore positivity goes a long way to take calculated risks in their very venture. Let’s see how positive attitude can help an entrepreneur in the venture:

  1. Energy

Positivity fills you up with the correct energy level. It maintains your daily enthusiasm, builds up your intelligence, increases your creativity. Positivity carries with it optimism that affects your work performance. As Napoleon Hill said,  ‘ A person with positive mental attitude aims for high goals and constantly strives to achieve them’

  1. Visualization of goal:

A positive perspective gives a clear vision of your goal. Instead of showing you a blurred picture of where you are heading, you become sure of the way to move on and where to move on.

  1. Patience

Positivity carries with the most important ‘P’ i.e. patients. Up and downs are part of any business venture. But to hold on with the virtue of patience comes only with the attitude of positivity within. Your patiently done commitment will bring you effective results.

  1. Lighten up

The calm and relaxed state always helps you in taking the correct decision. The correct decision moulds out your business. So, positive attitude helps you to stay lighter and relaxed and hence having a positive impact on your decision making. The more you stay lighter the more positivity you will attract and more will be your productivity.

  1. Manage anxiety and stress

Anxiety and stress have almost become part and parcel of our life. But once you realise how it drains us away from our usable energy, you can easily manage those fluctuations to something positive and enjoyable. Positivity will make you learn self-mastery. In the words of Jeff Keller, ‘adversity brings out our hidden potential’.

  1. Leaving positive impression

You will create, attract similar vibes around you. This is rather very necessary for any entrepreneur to leave a lasting impression on people you meet. The more you are positive, the more will be people connected with you. Unexpected doors and avenues will welcome you on your journey.

  1. Learning zeal

Positivity helps in creating in you a learning zeal. Learning should never stop. A continuous learning zeal either from your failures or others’ words of advice will always help you towards more innovative ideas.

It is important to know your focus before you even start to dream about your blog. Without the focus, your energy for blogging will go astray making it good for nothing. So, how to choose the blog niche when you start blogging?

Let us begin by placing us in the place of visitors. Suppose I am a busy mom who needs some guidance to choose the best daycare for my son. Now, will I look for it in a blog where the blogger shares how to choose different recipes for school Tiffin? Obviously not. I will search for a blog where the blogger exclusively writes about how to choose the best daycare for kids.

The ideal blogger here knows her focus and that is why she is getting visitors who are searching online for tips on daycare. Likewise, you must know your focus and expertise before you choose a blog topic. Nobody is going to read about your cat or dog unless you write about how to keep them safe and healthy.

How to choose a blog niche?

You may know about several topics but for blogging, the narrower your focus the wider is an audience. People will come back to you once they know that you offer a particular expertise on a topic. So, let us now focus on how to choose your niche.

  • Choose a topic which you know thoroughly. When you start your blog, people consider you as an authority on the topic. Unless you know every minute detail of the topic, you won’t be able to answer people’s queries and making yourself lose as a blogger.
  • You must be passionate about the subject you have chosen for the blog. Nobody has ever succeeded in anything which they do not like to do. Your niche must be something you enjoy writing. It must inspire you to do lots of things on your blog. Will you succeed with a blog on guitar when your passion lies in cooking?
  • You must read and research a lot before you choose the topic. There is no point of running a blog on fashion just because it shows how fashionable you are unless you know what the global fashion trends are.
  • Choose a topic which is acceptable to everyone. In simple words, choose something that people search over the internet. Successful blogs are made by both the bloggers and visitors. So, place yourself every time in a visitor’s shoe when you are choosing the topic for your blog.
  • Another important point to consider before choosing the blogging niche is that if the particular topic will generate money in future or not. Today, people are concentrating more on the blog and digital promotions and to invite such brands, you must have content that appeals to the prospective brand and its followers.
Popular blog niche to choose
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Blogging
  • Making money online
  • Personal finance
  • Recipes
  • Cooking tips
  • Baking
  • Entertainment
  • Music
  • Health
  • Fitness
  • Current affairs
  • Beauty
  • Fashion
  • Lifestyle
  • Travel
  • Personal development

I hope after going through this blog post, you will be able to focus by choosing the right niche for your blog.

Sometimes, some words or phrase, or maybe a few lines, proves to be so powerful, that they completely capture your mind and consequently succeeds in occupying a front seat in your mental space. This is exactly what I am experiencing right now, words which made me think and rethink until I am here penning down the same, how to develop your inner strength.

BK Shivani (the name needs no introduction, of course), in her message on the eve of Navratri and Durga puja, highlights 8 powers, (that also forms the basis of their teachings), to cultivate or realize within us. As her message says ‘Emerge your 8 Shaktis… Destroy your evils’.  I found them so powerful, in the true sense of the term. Though the thoughts may sound spiritual, they bear profound practical utility. Yes, the evils of fear, anger, frustration, insecurity, greed, intolerance, the attachment that robs us of our inner strengths and fills us with all sorts of negativity. So, let us try to practice and cultivate the following powers to fight our inner evils and invoke our strengths.

Power to decide

It is the power to decide our priority in life, rather than giving space to not-so-necessary things, both in our inner and outer world. This power helps us to focus on our goals, to decide the important or unimportant.

Power to discern

The power to find out the good and bad, right and wrong, without being getting distracted or mislead. The proper use of our mental strength, to help us grow in a positive way.

Power to withdraw

It is preparedness to safe oneself as well others, in any unwanted happenings.

Power to tolerate: it is the power to tolerate any sort of negativity, no matter in words or actions that we encounter in our daily lives, without losing one’s mental stability.

Power to face:    It is power to face any obstacles, barriers, any kind of fear. To deal, confront and resolve day to day internal as well as external obstacles.

Power to let go

The let go attitude is the power to leave behind past events or grudges, to move ahead towards a happier future. Often we remain to entangle to our sad moments of our past. We fail to understand that it is not the past that defines our future, but surely present moment does. A good present will definitely lead to better future.

Power to accept

Power to accept people and situations as they are, and avoid wasteful thinking. It is the power to understand that neither our surrounding people nor situations will act according to us. We are in charge of only our behaviour, so by avoiding being judgemental every now and then, it is the acceptance power that helps us strive well.

Power to cooperate

It is the power and ability to keep one as well as our surrounding in a positive web. To be in selfless service of others as per our capacity and capability.

With all wishes of a powerful and victorious life ahead …!!

Although there are numerous content and help available online, every beginner has questions regarding blogging. Some of those questions are serious as the answers can boost a blogger’s confidence tenfold. These questions actually reflect how much the blogger is serious and passionate about the blogging. Yes, I have also encountered some silly questions but all in all, these questions help the blogging journey to start with confidence. So, what are the top questions you should ask before you start blogging?

I am just a novice in blogging. Where do I start?

If you have just started to give serious thought to blogging and reading some articles over the internet, I am sure that you are overwhelmed. The internet is full of information on blogging and anyone can get lost in it. I was lost too. You can read about my struggles as a newbie blogger in this post.

So, where do we start as a new blogger? For you, I have specifically developed an easy to understand and FREE blogging course. The course has all the technical details about how to start a blog and the homework for a successful launch of your blog.

But, even before you start it, let me tell you where to start. If you are determined about starting a blog, I would advise you to at least research what is blogging and if you will be able to do it or not.

Some people blog for money and some for passion. But in both cases, consistency is the key to a successful blogging. Start with you. Start from noting down what you love to do. Start from assessing if your niche would help you to create a business out of your blog or not. Start from knowing your targeted readers.

How much time does a blog need?

In my opinion, this is one of the most important questions you should ask before you start blogging. Ask yourself how much time you can invest every day in blogging. Because blogging is a serious business. You can not expect that you will write for one month and people will take you for a blogger.

Blogging needs lots of energy and hard work from you. You need to create content for your blog, promote it online-offline, answer the comments and connect with the blogosphere. It is time-consuming and needs your constant attention.

Ask yourself if you are ready to cut your ‘me’ time for browsing Facebook or TV channels to give to the blog? Ask yourself if you are ready to invest time to your blog even on Sundays or other holidays? If the answer is ‘yes’, you are almost ready to give serious blogging a warm welcome.

Why do you blog?

Is blogging your passion or you want to start earning from it? If you are new to the idea of making money online, let me tell you that it is a legitimate source of income (no scams there!). A majority of my income comes from writing and you can do the same with your blogging.

The internet is full of bloggers who are making good money (read six figure income). Melyssa from www.melyssagriffin.com makes one lakh dollar on average per month. Harsh Agrawal from www.shoutmeloud.com is earning in six figures every month. These are all successful bloggers who have put a lot of effort to their passion for blogging. In return, they are living their lives being their own boss. But this success never came over a night. They work hard even now to make their blogs successful.

Decide yourself first why are you blogging? If you are blogging for passion, that’s great. Blogging is the fastest way to popularize your creativity and establish you as an expert. And if you are thinking to earn from it, you must be prepared with your blogs from the very first day of blogging.

How much does it cost to start a blog?

Well, it’s a tricky question. And the answer is a bit of complex too. Blogging can be done on the free platform like wordpress.com or blogger but all of such blogging platform comes with their own baggage. These free blogging platforms are good for passion or hobby blogger but if you want to earn from blogging in long run, I advise you to go for a self-hosted blog.

The cost of self-hosted blogging depends upon the service providers and the plan you choose. But on average, it is 7,000 to 10,000 INR per year.

Is it possible to make money with a blog?

Yes. It is possible if you are serious about your blog. But let me tell you clearly here that it is not easy or fast. Blogging is like a marathon where you need to run or invest a good deal of time and hard work before you get the destination. It takes time.

Dedicate a serious amount of your time and creativity in your blog to make a good earning. The top ways to make money from your blog are

  • Advertisement- Ads are a good source to earn some extra money from your blog. Personally, I have little to no ads on my blog as I do not have extra time to manage the ads.
  • Affiliate marketing- You can promote things by other online giants like Amazon or Flipkart or any other brand which offers affiliate marketing through your writings. For each sale, you get a commission which is good money without much effort.
  • Sponsored posts- My personal favorite. Write about things or brands that need promotion through your blog and earn good money.
  • Services- You can list the services you offer on your blog or offer free tips to attract people to your services. You can offer any service in any criteria. Just know your value and set the price accordingly.
  • Product- Do you have a product? Like a book, online course, accessories, jewelry or clothes? Your blog is the best place to sell them to a dedicated audience.

I hope this questions and answers will help you to start blogging and making a career out of it. If you need further help to understand blogging, join my FREE blogging course by signing up below.

Do you guide people on how to become more presentable before the world? Do you often advise your friends about their image for free? Do you accompany everyone to the shopping just to pick the right dress for them? Does every friend turn to you whenever they have something important for support? Then this article on how to be a Personal Style Coach is just for you, momma!

In my last series, I discussed how to be a mompreneur, its challenges and all the side hustles you can do while becoming one. I have also discussed how to fund your business and offered easy to follow business ideas for you. Now it is time for us to know what sort of business path can work for you depending upon your creativity.

I would like to remind you all that my ideas of businesses are based on your skills. I offer advises but it is you who will have to go through the pain of making and establishing your business. Today, I will discuss how you can harness your fashion sense and tips on empowering others to make money and build it a business worth of your time and creativity.

But before we delve into how you can become a personal style coach, let us know what it is.

Who is a Personal Style Coach?

A personal style coach is someone who helps you to get a professional, polished and confident look. In this era, when everything depends upon the first impression, a person must be at his/her best at every occasion. A personal style coach guides you to get the confident and smart public image. They choose your personal style including clothes, accessories, and other required items to make your public image strong.

What does a Personal Style Coach offer?

A personal style coach offers more than simple guidance on what to wear to an individual. They offer confidence to their client’s image.

Personal styling coaches help the clients in personal empowerment. As I mentioned that the first personal impression is an essential thing to build a strong image in public, we must carry our style with elegance. But sometimes our stress and poor mental condition win and our outer image display it in front of the world. It may cost you a deal or a person lacking confidence.

Here comes the need of a personal style coach who will guide us to have a better presence and composition. If you are confident about your style, it will provide positivity and self-esteem in any conversation you have with the outer world.

Style coaches guide you through the procedure to transform from a shabby, confidence lacking person to a smart, confident person that people actually listen. They work according to what type of personal development and self-exploration the client need. They provide direction, help, and focus that creates a permanent change in an individual’s lifestyle.

What skills do you need to be a Personal Style Coach?
  • An eye for fashion trend
  • A good sense of how different types of person need different solution
  • A good knowledge of different body types
  • Fine skill to make people understand their potentiality.
  • A proper business mindset so that you stop giving free advice to anyone who asks your advice.

How to become a Personal Style Coach?

Seek help from friends and families

This is a business you can start from the comforts of your home. You do not need to establish a brick and mortar shop to open a chamber. Initially, start with your friends and their contacts. I am sure most people who know you know that you are good with fashion sense. Tell them that you have started giving professional advises that can change their whole personal style in lieu of a nominal price.

At first, it would be difficult to make people understand. (Trust me, I was there too) You would be ridiculed but keep your calm. Ask them if they can inform someone who needs such advice. Most brides, bridegrooms, people going abroad, people who are grooming themselves for beauty pageant will be your potential clients. Ask people to share your number too.

Networking

Meet fashion designers, boutique owners and let them know about your service. Most designers look for personal styling coach for their clients. It is good to contact even before you start your business so that once you launch, people will be aware of it.

Join relevant Facebook and WhatsApp groups where you can interact with like-minded people or people who are in need of your service.

Facebook Page

Facebook is the strongest social media out there and an excellent marketing tool. Create a business page for your service. Offer free tips so that people can know about your expertise on the matter.

How do you start Personal Style Coach?

When someone contacts you for your services, go for initial consultation. Know about the person, what they exactly need and how can your services fit into it. The first meeting is also an opportunity to know the client and whether you can be able to work with the person, the positive sides and the restrictions you may have.

Before you start, make sure you know your strength as a personal style coach. Research about the trends of personal development that can be applied in your clients. Read motivational books and share your knowledge. Check out what are the tools or external resources you may need as a coach.

Here is an online course on what you need to become a personal coach. This course comes from industry forerunner Sola Adelowo, who runs her own personal styling business.

All the best, Mommies! I am sure you will nail it!

My Writing, My World - Mompreneur by Puspanjalee Das Dutta - 10M ago

Dear readers, in my last series on mompreneurs, I discussed how a Mom can start her own online business from home and take care of her kids and financial issues. In this post, I will today discuss why I blog.

Today, I will discuss how I became mompreneur and how I manage my business. For me, my business starts from this blog. I also maintain two other blogs which are on food & travel writing and book reviews. But when I started this blog, money-making was not in my mind. It was a hobby blog just like thousand blogs out there.

The first call for money came when I was approached for a sponsored post. Till then, I was ignorant that I can actually make money from my blog. But one after other, I started getting offers, comments, and queries. Only then I realized that people do connect with my blog and my ideas. Now after 5 long years, I am considered as one of the top bloggers in India.

But the success did not come easily. I almost gave up on blogging when I was unable to manage time for it. I stopped writing here for almost one and half year. Yes. One and a half year, the blog was barren. But constant messages, queries by my readers forced me to get back to what I love. And the money once again came back to me.

Within six months, the income from the blog surpassed my 9-5 job’s salary. It gave me the confidence to pursue blogging full time. I admit I was a little skeptic about it at first, but who doesn’t love some extra money? One led to another and the blog has turned eventually business for me.

I now fully consider my blogs as my online entrepreneurship. I love writing and it has empowered me economically beyond my imagination and expectations. It has given me the freedom to work from anywhere I want and be with my child all the time.

It has given me the freedom to choose with whom I will be working and how I will work with them. I am my own boss now.

Why Do I Blog?

So, why I started blogging in the first place? The reasons are simple.

I started blogging because,

  • I wanted to express my passions.
  • I wanted to establish myself as a writer.
  • I wanted to share my knowledge with like minded people.
  • I wanted to build a network.

After 5 years into blogging, now the blogging has become my passion. I have already established myself as a writer. So, why do I blog now?

  • I now love to share my knowledge with people who can be benefitted from it.
  • I love networking and working people.
  • I now blog to earn money.
  • I now blog to document my journey as a mere ‘hobby’ blogger to a professional blogger.

So, you can easily see that the motivation behind my blogging journey has changed over the time but the desire to share my knowledge with people has not changed a bit.

As I mentioned earlier, I have gone through ups and downs to reach this position. It has been a roller coaster ride so far but I am sure that I will be here until the end.

I will share more insight into my blogging journey in upcoming days. I will now share how do I earn money from my blog and how you can do the same. I will be sharing how you can start blogging too with the passion like me. So, stay tuned to this space and stick with me till the end of my blogging journey. I may have never reached this position unless you readers love me so much. So, thank you, dear readers. Thank you for everything!

P. S. I have started a Facebook group to share how you can build a business centered on an idea or passion. feel free to join the group here.

Hey, mommies. You have gone through the possibilities, challenges and how to start a business as a mompreneur. But to be honest, it is one thing to plan to be a business woman and it is another thing to go ahead with the actual planning. I have seen mommies who have started their business ideas with a bang but along with the time, the motivation and business dwindled to nothing. To get ahead as a mompreneur, you must learn to work through the initial challenges a business needs to face.

Any business, be it online or offline, can be very confusing and time-consuming. Today, I will share tips on how you can go ahead as mompreneur even if you are demotivated and unsure of how to roll the things.

5 Ways to Go Ahead as Mompreneur Even If You Are Demotivated and Unsure Raise the bar, give value to your business

First thing, why should your customers come to you? Why should they hire your services for themselves or their kids? Or why should people spend money on you? These are the questions that give values and goals to any business. Put yourself in your customer’s shoes and decide what do you want from a potential business. Put down the thoughts on a notebook and go thoroughly over it.

The thoughts will clearly set the value you want to give your business. But do not stop here. Add some extra to your services so that the customers can exclaim once they are done with that ‘your services were worth my money!’.

Determine your USP

Admit it. There are thousands of businesses out there offering the same thing in the market. Even if your idea is unique in some senses, it already has competitors in the market or competition will sprout once you start. So, how do you attract the potential customers?

That is where the relevance of USP comes into the scene. You must articulate the USP of your business and what makes it unique. The first thing you need to do is sit and discover which element is making your business reliable among the public. You must know your potential to make it a money-making strategy for you.

If you are unable to decide the element which is your USP, seek help from your family and friends. Offer them your services for free or nominal fees and ask for feedback.

Treat yourself as your employee

We often get lazy when it comes to doing things for ourselves. But in a business, you can’t risk being lazy. Have you ever procreated when you were working for someone else? We did not. We had our respect, image to take care of in front of other people in the office and that is why we have never failed to do our duties. Same things go with our business. We must invest hundred percent of our effort in it.

To make the thing easy, treat yourself as your employee. If possible, treat your pocket money as your salary and arrange a register on your desk. Do everything as you did in your office. It will help you to get ahead as a mompreneur and establish your business with ease.

Set your mindset

To be a mompreneur, you must act like a mompreneur. Read books on entrepreneurship, inspiring stories of other mompreneurs and learn the things they did for their business. Set your mindset according to it and it will help to get ahead with your targets. Meet like minded people and discuss the ups and downs of being a mompreneur. I am sure people would love to support you. You can also share your tricks of how you are managing thing with other mompreneurs so that you can grow together.

Keep balance

Being a mom, you must prioritize your duties for your family too. Sometimes, you may fail to achieve your targets. Your baby may fall sick or she/he has some important things in the school or your hubby may need you to achieve his target. Set your daily routine thoroughly so that you can make the lost time up and go ahead as a mompreneur.
