“Rocky Mountain Holiday” was a one-hour musical special, directed by Muppet creator Jim Henson, which aired on ABC May 12, 1983. It was filmed in and around Aspen, John Denver’s Colorado home. In the film, Kermit and the Muppets take a camping trip in the Rockies. This photo shows the group at Maroon Lake with the Maroon Bells in the background.
The film was produced by Jim Henson and John Denver. The soundtrack to the musical was nominated for a Grammy in 1983 for Best Recording for Children, but lost to “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.”
