It’s finally Memorial Day weekend, the first long weekend of the year! If there’s one thing that means, it’s that we’re officially in a summer mood. One of my favorite things to bring out of my closet are my sun dresses… and what’s not to love? They’re easy to wear, super flattering on everyone… and after a long bout of awful winter weather, I think I speak for every lady when I say we’re READY to lose the multiple layers!!!

Even though it’s only May, between my job change and all of the amazing opportunities I’ve gotten through blogging, this year has been my busiest one yet! And if that means one thing, it means lots more travel on the horizon!!! I just booked a travel partnership for next month that I’m really excited to share with you guys, but in the meantime, I figured that I will give you a look into my carry-on bag so you guys can see how I arrive at my destination in style. My luggage is all from Away, and most of the beauty products I mention in this video are linked right here, if you’re interested in checking them out. Enjoy! x

If I were asked to describe my signature style in a short phrase, I would say that it’s all about the elevated wardrobe basic. No matter what I’m wearing, there are always certain styles and pieces that I tend to gravitate towards… and if there’s one thing I learned on my style journey, it’s that I need to lean into to my own unique style instead of forcing myself into trends that don’t work for me. In today’s video, I’m sharing my capsule wardrobe that make up my very own signature style! Make sure you’re following along on YouTube too guys… lots more video content to come soon soon soon!

I’m not a mom. And with an approximate 5,969 mile distance and entire Atlantic Ocean between my mother and myself for the vast majority of the year, it’s pretty rare to have my mother by my side on Mother’s Day either. Today, I loved reading everyone’s tributes to their mothers on Facebook and Instagram… but as most of you probably already might’ve noticed by now — I tend to not participate using every holiday occasion to share my feelings on a public forum… unless an extreme occasion calls for it.

There are lots of words that I would use to describe the woman who raised me: she is strong, selfless, intelligent, God-fearing, a caretaker… and even has the tiniest bit of a stubborn streak that annoys me when I’m on the receiving end of it, but I also see in myself every now and then. People always ask me what my name means — my full name, Cocomma, translates literally to “mother’s namesake“… or someone who takes after their mother and carries a bit of their mother with them, for those of you who might like something somewhat more poetic.

So even though Skype chats, FaceTime catch-ups and WhatsApp messages make it easier to keep faraway loved ones closer than ever… I love to use Mother’s Day to reflect on what I’m doing to carry on my own Mother’s legacy — so that one day, when I have kids of my own, they too will come to know the reason people all over the world treasure days like these. Happy Mother’s Day, Magdalene… I love you! xx

Of all the fashion trends to make a comeback, who would have placed their bets on the polka dot? The retro pattern has been out of style for so long, that I honestly don’t recall having EVER worn polka dots ever… until this year. Lucky for us, these aren’t our grandma’s polka dots anymore — my favorite thing about modern street style is how even the most “old-fashioned” trends are taking on a modern twist, making them accessible to fashion lovers across all ages and generations.

Speaking of putting a 2018 twist on a retro style, is there any better way to do it than pairing my polka dots with casual jeans and dressed up heels? I’m OBSESSED with this pair that I got for my birthday… even though they’re super dressy, my favorite way to wear them is with my every day wardrobe for an unexpected touch of glitz.

What do you guys think about the polka dot trend, and how are your rocking it this season? If you need some inspo, I’ve linked my outfit details below for some inspiration on how to wear one of the biggest fashion trends of 2018 — happy shopping!

When it comes to finding the perfect pair of jeans, I really don’t ask for much — just lots of comfort, and a couple extra inches on the inseam… because when you’re 5’9″ like me, you need all the extra length that you can get!

It’s definitely been a while since I last shopped for a pair of skinny jeans in particular… these days, I’ve mostly been gravitating towards vintage straight-leg cuts… but sometimes, fashion is all about rediscovering old favorites and giving them an updated spin so that they still work with your current wardrobe!

Lee Dream Jeans

comfort and a flattering slim cut make this my current-favorite pair of skinny jeans I've been wearing non-stop lately!

You’ve probably already seen me style these Lee Jeans on Instagram (if you haven’t, you know what to do: hit that follow button!); but this is how I styled them for my friend’s birthday party that I popped into Chicago for! A super casual outfit that easily transitioned to evening look.

Completing the look are my favorite neutral pumps from Acne Studios, a silk shirt I picked up from Aritzia while I was in Chicago (we really need one in Atlanta!) and this gorgeous bag the Senreve team sent me a couple weeks ago that I’ve been loving to tote around on weekdays to and from my 9-to-5.

It’s the little things that count, when it comes to home decor… and if there’s one thing I’ve had on my wish list, it’s been a bar cart. I fell in love with this one that I picked up from Z Gallerie, which turned out to be a great alternative to this bar cart that’s 5x the price! Not only is it a lot more affordable than most other ones on the market, I also love the unique design and gold accents that I can’t seem to stop wearing… or decorating my home with!

Another thing I love about my cart is the size – I’m not a huge drinker, so I knew I didn’t need three shelves stocked full of multiple wines and liquors… so this double-shelved piece was perfect for me. I combined my current drink of choice, Grey Goose, with my favorite bar cart decor essentials: flower arrangements, my best glassware and a coffee table book or two.

Grey Goose Martini

INGREDIENTS

  • 2½ parts Grey Goose Vodka
  • ½ part Noilly Pratt Original® French Dry Vermouth
  • 1 dash Orange Bitters
  • Lemon Zest for Garnish

DIRECTIONS & NOTES

  • A Grey Goose martini should be using a ratio of 5:1 vodka to dry vermouth
  • Build ingredients in mixing glass, top with cubed ice and stir
  • Fine strain into a chilled cocktail glass
  • Always garnish a Grey Goose martini with the peel of a lemon
  • If you’re using a knife, cut off the white pith, as it creates unwanted bitterness in the drink
  • The citrus oils found in the lemon bring out the lemon notes in the flavour profile of Grey Goose
  • Enjoy!

This post was created in partnership with Grey Goose; all opinions are my own.

Another successful Coachella in the books! Or are we officially calling it Beychella now… still totally blown away by her awesome performance! I always love visiting Palm Springs, and every time I head out there in April I make a mental note to return sometime later in the year when it’s not too crazy…. and then I promptly forget – but it’s always lovely to have an excuse to visit during their busiest weekend of the year anyway!

This time around, I partnered with REVOLVE to attend the REVOLVE Festival event and style some of the latest pieces from their in-house labels, and I loved how every look turned out. Full disclosure: I had three completely different looks selected for the weekend, but their fulfillment center was so backed up for festival season, that I ended up pulling my Coachella looks from the REVOLVE showroom when I landed in LA. A much more limited selection for sure, but I think any girl can find something super cute to wear when shopping at REVOLVE, and that’s definitely why they’re a festival shopping favorite! Gearing up to head out west this weekend for Coachella and trading Atlanta’s spring blooms for California’s palm trees and cacti… even though I’m still in the middle of outfit planning for this weekend (procrastinators, unite!), my go-to plan has always been to bring at least one dress that I know I can re-wear for any other daytime affair when I get home.

This blush pink dress is not only perfect for a day out in the California sun, it’s also great for family-friendly events and dates and brunch with the girls when I’m back in Atlanta… and the linen fabric makes it breathable and comfortable to wear all spring and summer long! Nothing beats a beautiful all-purpose wardrobe piece, am I right?

If you’re on the hunt for some great dresses to add to your wardrobe, some of my favorite places to shop (that you definitely should also be checking out) are Reformation, REVOLVE and ASOS for spring frocks that come in every style imaginable.

Make sure you’re following along on Instagram for all of the Coachella festival action! I’m working with some amazing brands in Palm Springs this year, and I can’t wait to share every moment with you in real time… See you in the desert!

Coco rocking Coco… Chanel, that is. When it comes to luxury, nobody does it better than Chanel… and while there’s the odd item that isn’t too far our of reach budget-wise (I love Chanel beauty products!)… taking the plunge on a pair of Chanel shoes or a Chanel bag definitely isn’t something that the average girl does every day. They’re not called investment pieces for nothing!

The best part about investment pieces like designer bags is that they’re made to last… which would explain why every fashion girl knows that shopping pre-owned is where it’s at! A 10-year old bag can still look as good as a new fresh-off-the-runway one… and sometimes, a vintage bag can be worth more than any of the current-season pieces on the market! I’ve already shared one of my favorite places to shop pre-loved designer bags for lower prices, but if you’re looking for another option where fashion girls are finding their it-bags at incredible prices, then you need to have Rebag bookmarked before your next online shopping venture! With prices starting as low as $300, affordable luxury takes on a whole new meaning… and now you can accessorize your looks with a bag that you’ll be able to keep forever
