Summer is the ultimate time of the year to take some time off and travel, relax with our favorite people and forget all the little -and bigger- things that are stressing us out. Am I right? It’s also the perfect time to wear our gorgeous dresses, voluminous hats and stunning fashion items in order to look mesmerizing all day long.

However, strolling around hip places of the world can most of the times be super challenging whenever we try to put together cute outfits that don’t compromise our comfort levels. Especially when it comes to shoes our options are usually very limited; you either end up wearing sneakers even if you don’t love them or hurt your feet with uncomfortable heels. Well, not anymore!

Hang on girls because I have some uber exciting news! I’ve found the perfect travel -and not only- shoe that can go on and on from day to night and still look fantastic with anything you want to rock. These OTBT sandals of dreams can save your feet whether you are on a summer adventure, running errands, or enjoying your shopping for hours.

Their comfortable mid-heel wedge style featuring wider straps makes them ideal and you can easily pair them with your favorite striped maxi dresses along with big summer bags, with a more casual “shorts and t-shirt” look for vacation, or even with jeans. The possibilities are endless.

Forget ugly sneakers and get ready to see new places, different cultures, walk in the sand (oh, yes! I did that too at Sanibel Island & Fort Myers) or hit Miami Swim Week 2019 ( is around the corner) and its pool parties and still look fabulous and Instagram-ready!

Now, I wish I had them with me in some of my travels in Spain, Costa Rica, Niagara Falls or Santorini–I walked a lot there!

Lucky me, I finally found the perfect travel shoes for my next get away and I presented them here to you…

Elegance and comfort combined; if this isn’t perfection then what is?

Whether you prefer a leopard print bikini with sexy, tiny details, a hot pink swimsuit or a crazier cut-out piece, no matter your age there is always going to be that time when your mood will only go for the trusted black. Isn’t it true?

We’ve all been in that place girls and there is a reason for that; like the little black dress, the black swimwear never gets out of style and has the magical ability to look chic, powerful and super versatile with any other beachwear we may style it.

There are many types of black swimsuits in the market, but which is the most flattering? We’ve prepared the ultimate guide to help you choose the best black swimsuit for your body and look smashing by the beach, pool, yacht and everywhere else!

The Halter Neck

If a juicier décolletage is your goal, then a halter neck bikini or one-piece swimsuit is the perfect option for you. Halter necks look ultra-chic and sexy without revealing too much. Since there will be attention around your neck, style them with gold bracelets for a balanced yet glamorous result.

The High-waisted Bottoms

A ballet bikini top and high-waisted bottoms is the route to success if you want to look taller! A black ensemble like this will make your legs appear leaner and support you in the right spots. What’s better than this?

A high-waisted option is also great for those of us with juicier bodies or for that time of the month where a little more fabric makes us feel better.

The Tiny Bikini

A tiny black bikini with super thin adjustable side ties is great for those of us with wider hips. You can just adjust them in the optimum position for your body and instantly appear more narrow.

The Statement One

A statement black bikini with ruffle details or a gorgeous one-piece featuring crisscross details at the front are just amazing if you are on the thinner side and want to appear curvier. Added volume and sass is the right option for you!

Whatever you choose you will look stunning! Time to enjoy the sun and salty hair girls!

Miami Fashion Spotlight by Lissette Rondon - 3w ago

Hello Spotlighters, we are having just finished celebrating our Memorial Day Weekend, and there were many people here in our city who just went outside to enjoy the beaches of Miami Beach and its surroundings.

But my husband and I, as we love road trips, we went to Sanibel, one of our favorite escape destinations and even though it was a holiday it was very peaceful, and everybody were able to enjoy those gorgeous sunsets with magical energies that only Sanibel can give.

I don’t know about you, but you can already feel that summer is near because the temperatures are letting you know–so I took the opportunity to wear one of the biggest color trends for this summer 2019, and that is pink!

Pink Fashion at the Beach

I chose a fresh and sophisticated fit & flare dress by Jill Jill Stuart (printed jaguar but pink tonalities). I accompanied it with flat shoes in pale pink from the collaboration I’m doing with the house “Carrano Shoes USA” – it was beautifully decorated in the center and super comfortable, so I could walk the whole beach collecting snails and exploring the place and nothing happened in these little feet.

I almost forgot to tell you that during the summer is the only time of the year, when I like to wear flats, because as many of you know I love, love, love high heels. So, I always combine flats with fit and flare printed dresses since it looks very Parisian.

As I knew I would be walking a lot, I did not want to wear anything heavy accessory wise, like a bag. So, I chose a mini bag by Les Petit Joueurs which had a lilac tone, as well as many different tones of pink and pastel color on the handle. I also wore my favorite oversized sunglasses in blue and pink by Dolce and Gabanna. Of course, I had to add a little touch of bling-bling with my vintage drop earrings with purple tones and I had a very fashionable Memorial Day!

Designers from all over the world create stunning pieces that grab the attention wherever we go! And we need all that sass, right girls?

So, let’s see the best 7 pieces to rock for a fabulous statement look whether you want to attend an art gallery, a hip place for drinks or your morning shopping sessions.

The Maxi Dress

If you love maxi dresses, now is the time to wear them in their most striking version; printed! Keep the rest simple for major impact. You’ll definitely be the talk of the town.

Pink Yumminess (or Sweet as Candy)

Candy, sweet colors are a big trend this summer. Wear a little pink dress paired with metallic or white accessories and wow everyone!

The Pop of Color (or Neon Time)

A head to toe neon ensemble never looked better than summer 2019. Neon yellow, green or acid orange assure an amazing effect for nights-out. If you want it more subtle pair your neon shorts with a classic white shirt.

The Alternative White Blouse

If you want to include a white top in your outfit, choose a big voluminous white blouse. A deep V-neck makes it sexier and statement sleeves balance it for a chic outcome.

If you love hats, you’ll be super happy over this season’s most popular trend. Instagram is packed with beautiful women rocking big or smaller beach hats. Wear yours while shopping with an airy, maxi dress.

Biker Attitude

Biker shorts are still going strong for another season. Lucky us they’re not only trending right now, but they’re uber comfortable too. You can wear yours from day with a simple top to night with an oversized blazer.

The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU, part of Florida International University, presents the national museum debut of Shtetl in the Sun: Andy Sweet’s South Beach 1977-1980. The new museum exhibition celebrates the legendary photographer’s work in the late 1970s capturing the colorful elderly Jewish community in South Beach, before his death at a young age.

Taking a cue from the new book from Letter16 Press, edited by Brett Sokol, this is the first time a museum presents a solo show of Sweet’s work, now on view until June 23. The exhibition’s debut also coincides with the successful national release of The Last Resort, the new film directed by Dennis Scholl & Kareem Tabsch that also celebrates Andy Sweet’s work.

The landmark museum is located at 301 Washington Avenue in the heart of South Beach’s historic Art Deco District, which was ground zero for Andy Sweet (1953-1982).

Sweet’s work was almost lost forever, and was rescued thanks to the work of his sister, Ellen Sweet Moss, and her husband Stan Hughes. The exhibition will feature an intimate look inside the artist’s working process, with more than 60 images, plus original photographs that have never been shown, handpicked by Sweet’s family exclusively for this museum show.

The family is also providing a treasure trove of archival materials, shown for the first time, including some of Sweet’s original Hasselblad cameras, photo contact sheets hand-noted by Sweet, and more. The museum’s programming of events surrounding this exhibition includes an evening with Ellen Sweet Moss and Brett Sokol, on April 9.

“Andy Sweet was a true Miami Beach original. He possessed a talent and creative vision that was intrinsically linked to the zeitgeist happening here at that time,” said Susan Gladstone, the museum’s Executive Director. “The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU is thrilled to create this first-ever museum solo show about Sweet’s work, as our own South Beach history resonates in the same radius where his creative lens took flight. There was a magical quality in Andy Sweet’s photography that comes across today.”

A testament to the powerful way his images connect across generations and cultures is evident in the early interest from other museums in the U.S. and abroad, wanting to borrow this exhibition to show in their communities.

South Beach was predominantly a Jewish enclave in the late 1970s when Andy Sweet photographed the elderly population, and many of the residents were New York transplants and Holocaust survivors.

Before preservationists rescued the Art Deco buildings and designated the district onto the National Register of Historic Places, before Miami Vice transformed Miami’s image worldwide, and way before the hip and trendy renaissance of the area, South Beach was home to the largest number of Jewish retirees in America. More than 20,000 elderly Jews lived in South Beach then, within a compressed area (like a modern-day shtetl).

They banded together into a tight-knit community to help each other, often converting the lobbies of these Art Deco buildings into makeshift synagogues. Susan Gladstone, the museum’s Executive Director, was a young social worker when Sweet was documenting this community with his camera. She was assigned to work with agencies in this neighborhood, to assist the aging population.

Thirty years later, Gladstone was tapped as a historian for the film The Last Resort, the smash hit that won numerous awards in the film festival circuit and that is getting rave reviews now during its national theatrical release.

“This exhibition is about more than just nostalgia, it’s about the life of a young photographer destined to become an important artist were it not for his sudden end at the age of 28. Many of the people in Sweet’s photographs smiled back at his camera,” adds Gladstone. “Many of his subjects exuded a sense of urgency to live out their lives to the fullest on South Beach ─ some of them were still laughing, dancing, and living before it was too late.”

In the new photography book from Letter16 Press, Brett Sokol states: “Forget those jokes about South Beach in the late 1970s being the Yiddish-speaking section of God’s Waiting Room. Yes, upwards of 20,000 elderly Jews made up nearly half of the Beach’s population in those days – all crammed into an area of barely two square miles like a modern-day shtetl, the small, tightly knit Eastern European villages that defined so much of pre-World War II Jewry . . . they all still had plenty of living, laughing and loving to do. Sweet’s photos capture the community’s daily rhythms in all their beach-strolling, cafeteria-noshing, and klezmer-dancing glory.”

Also in the book, filmmaker Kelly Reichardt says: “I can’t recall exactly where I first discovered Andy Sweet’s photos but it wasn’t long after moving north . . . After you get some distance from a place, you realize there were some things you liked after all. And one of those things for me was the Miami Beach that is represented in Sweet’s photography. If only, back when I was out there on Ocean Drive, with my Pentax K-1000, if only I could have stumbled into Andy Sweet’s photographs.”

Because Andy Sweet died so young, and since his boxes of photos and negatives were lost, his work was almost lost forever. Sweet’s life was cut tragically short when he was murdered in 1982. Victim of a violent crime, he was brutally stabbed to death in his Miami Beach apartment. Citizens of Miami Beach and of Miami-Dade County were shocked and horrified by Andy’s senseless murder.

This native son, affable and fun-loving, having just entered his artistic journey and becoming well known for establishing an important visual legacy, was abruptly gone.

His family was so devastated, that for decades they could not face the emotional ordeal of what to do with his boxes of photographs. His extensive body of work exhibited a level of creative maturity far beyond his years.

Time passed, but the Sweet family and their friends kept an emotional vigil. Andy’s photographs, in boxes containing thousands of colorful prints and original negatives, became their focal point. His extensive archive would represent his richly-lived short life.

However, if there was any glory in their undertakings, there would be much more anguish — the family was heartbroken when in 2003 they were shocked to learn that a storage facility lost all of these boxes, and they feared his legacy was forever lost.

Then, suddenly a stroke of good luck would change their lives! In 2006, Andy’s sister, Ellen Sweet Moss, and her husband Stan Hughes, miraculously discovered boxes of precious test-prints, contact sheets and work prints that no one knew existed. The couple then decided to dedicate the greater part of their lives to maintaining the memory of Sweet’s work.

Because these newly discovered boxes contained no color negatives, and because the test-prints in these previously undiscovered boxes were faded after so many years, the project would require extensive restoration.

Hughes decided to research into Sweet’s early work and his style of photography, to be able to try to restore them to their original colors with the guidance of Gary Monroe (Andy’s best friend and photographic partner during their South Beach days).

For years, Hughes spent over 12 hours a day painstakingly and tirelessly restoring these new-found test-prints to their original colorful glory, using new advances in digital photography. They made it their life mission to ensure that Sweet’s work reaches as many people as possible with the Andy Sweet Photo Legacy.

The family’s mission is now at a turning point, with the spectacular success of the film The Last Resort by Dennis Scholl and Kareem Tabsch, the book by Brett Sokol, and the museum exhibition by the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU. All three current manifestations of Sweet’s work are taking his creative vision to audiences worldwide.

More about the artist . . .

When he returned home to Miami Beach after receiving a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1977, Andy Sweet was on a mission with his friend Gary Monroe to photograph the Old-World Jewish culture that then distinguished South Beach.

While in graduate school, Andy was part of a small faction of young artist-photographers who were discovering the creative possibilities of color imagery. His beach-ball hues perfectly described the vivid light and lively culture he explored and portrayed, a culture that many others found bleak and pedestrian.

Andy’s aesthetic was as fresh as his colors. He rejected formalist theory and idea-driven imagery in favor of immediate and unmediated responses, of living it up and aligning himself with the people he knew he was privileged to photograph.

Andy admired the work of Diane Arbus, and like her he rejected the notion of self-conscious art making. The pure and spirited photograph was what mattered. “At Macy’s, diversity is a foundational value and part of how we think, act and operate. It is reflected in our long-standing commitment to fostering an inclusive culture and environment that inspires, reflects and embraces our colleagues, customers and the communities we serve,” said Shawn Outler, Macy’s chief diversity officer. “Through our annual Pride + Joy campaign, Macy’s celebrates National Pride Month as a testament to the power of community to make all of our lives shine brighter.”

Macy’s is committed to diversity and inclusion in all areas of business as evidenced by the company’s consistent achievement of a 100 percent score on the Human Rights Commission’s Corporate Equality Index, the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices. It is also a core value that guides how the company and its leadership operate. From LGBTQ representation in national advertising and a diverse set of suppliers including women, minority and LGBTQ-owned businesses to active and engaged LGBTQ employee resource groups, and an inclusive customer bill of rights that welcomes and protects all consumers, Macy’s reflects the communities it serves.

WorldPride | Stonewall 50

As a platinum sponsor of NYC Pride, the official host of WorldPride 2019 | Stonewall 50, Macy’s will participate in a number of activities throughout June to celebrate “Millions of Moments of Pride.”

To showcase, reflect and honor the beauty, struggle and strides made by the LGBTQ community, Macy’s Herald Square will host four unique murals created by renowned local and international artists as part of the WorldPride Mural Project. The murals, to be unveiled on June 6, will be on display inside Macy’s famed Broadway windows at the flagship store at Herald Square through June 30.

Sharing insights with the community, Macy’s diversity leadership will be highlighted via a special presentation during the WorldPride Human Rights Conference taking place at New York Law School on June 24. There, Macy’s will share its best practices on how brands can embed diversity and inclusion into the way they think, act and operate to consistently and genuinely reflect all consumers.

Macy’s, Inc. will also join the NYC Pride Parade with 800 marchers and two floats, the Macy’s Pride + Joy float, which debuted last year, and a brand new float created for colleagues from Bloomingdale’s. In addition, Macy’s will have a festive activation at Pride Island, the legendary NYC pier dance and festival.

The Big Give Back – The Trevor Project

In support of LGBTQ youth in crisis, Macy’s Pride + Joy campaign includes a nationwide give back component in partnership with The Trevor Project. As the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning young people, The Trevor Project works to save young lives by providing support through free and confidential programs, including TrevorLifeline, TrevorText, and TrevorChat. They also run TrevorSpace, the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth, and operate innovative education, research, and advocacy programs.

To help raise funds for Trevor’s important work, from June 1 – June 17 at all Macy’s stores nationwide, shoppers can celebrate Pride by giving back to The Trevor Project through Macy’s charitable round-up program. As customers complete their in-store purchases, they will be invited to round up to the nearest dollar (up to $.99) and donate the change to The Trevor Project. These donations will help support the organization’s mission of providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services. In select markets including Chicago, Cincinnati, Houston, Lexington (KY), Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, and St. Petersburg (FL), the round-up campaign will be extended through June 30 to coincide with Pride parade celebrations in which Macy’s has a local presence.

Macy’s shoppers are also invited to support The Trevor Project with style. Pride and its signature colors will be front and center in the limited–edition, three-piece capsule collection by INC International Concepts. Featuring gender-neutral t-shirts, tanks and socks with rainbow detailing, throughout the month of June, Macy’s will donate $4 of the purchase price of the INC t-shirt and tank and $2 of the purchase price of the socks to The Trevor Project. The pieces retail for $10 to $20 and will be available in select stores and on macys.com/celebrate.

Pride Is Always in Fashion

Additionally, to help customers express their Pride, more than 150 Macy’s stores nationwide and macys.com will offer a celebratory assortment of Pride-themed merchandise within Macy’s Pride + Joy shops and via displays across the store.
