Welcome to Magnolia Charles, a personal branded fashion and lifestyle blog about classy and feminine fashion and creating a preppy life. Working hard to create valuable and high quality content for the modern lady, I’m living this brand to give women inspiration for feminine and preppy outfits and a Southern Belle alike lifestyle.
I'm very excited to introduce you to a new brand today. My friend Maria launched her own line of silk scarves in the prettiest floral patterns she painted herself. With the same name as her blog Up and away by ME they are the perfect travel accessory and add a little summer to every outfit. She started with four gorgeous prints and even though it's very hard to choose, I decided for the Persimmon Rose scarf. It's inspired by Nantucket's climbing roses and since I have a really big itch to travel there right now, it brings me a bit of the islands essence to Germany. I'm truly so so excited for Maria and think she's incredibly talented. I can't wait to see where this leads her and will for sure follow along her story. And since she's from Canada and we're Insta friends I really hope to meet her soon and sport our scarves together.
Floral dresses are my go to during summer and when I saw this one, fitting right perfectly with my new daisies earrings, I knew it was perfect. Who can say no to a dress covered in daisies? The silhouette is very vintage with the off the shoulder cut, puffy sleeves and cinched in waist. It's perfect to twirl in with the full midi length skirt and it's light and airy for summer. Of course this is a dress for a special occasion like a summer garden party or even a wedding and I probably wouldn't wear it on a day to day basis. Unfortunately I can only find it in a German/European online shop, but they probably ship internationally.
There is just this one more post left from Charleston and since we’re experiencing a serious heat wave in Europe lately I thought it was quite fitting. After a melting day in Charleston at Sullivans beach we went back home to shower and dress for dinner. Often times I’m way to lazy to put on make up just for the evening and especially during summer I stay make up free on most days especially during the weekend. For this evening we wanted to have a walk through Hampton Park while the sun set and head to dinner afterwards. After showering I just threw on this white cotton dress with my favorite wedges and didn’t bother to style my hair or do my make up.
Summer is in full swing and I'm on the hunt for the best light pieces to wear in this simmering heat. All I'm looking for are breezy dresses in lightweight good quality cotton materials. While perusing Matchesfashion I found the best brand to wear this summer. Romantic floral prints, gorgeous soft cotton and a unique feminine design - D'Ascoli has it all. There are so many different wonderful prints that it's hard to decide for one. I'm sure this sweet blush rosé and soft yellow colored floral dress will not be my last piece from D'Ascoli. If you buy one dress this summer - it has to be one of his designs.
Lately the weather in Germany is incredible in the high twenties. That’s why on most days I’m wearing all of my favorite summer dresses. The warm months are my favorite and I wish I could dress like this all the time. There are many posts with gorgeous dresses coming, but when I found this pair of jeans, I had to share them with you. I was looking for a high-waisted relaxed fit pair like these for some time and couldn’t believe my luck when I found it in this very affordable pair. When I should describe my style in one word, I would say romantic. So you may think I wouldn’t wear those cool girl jeans, but there’s a really easy way to style them in a feminine romantic way.
If you’re planning a trip to Charleston, even just for a few days, you should definitely visit one of the plantations. There’s no better way to experience the Lowcountry’s flora and fauna and get lost under the oak trees. Also it’s a good way to learn about the history of the South, which was clearly not always just pretty gardens. These days they are absolutely beautiful to wander around and enjoy the nature. For me it was particulary special of course, since oak trees are my favorite thing on earth and this whole Southern setting has something incredibly dreamy. Magnolia Plantation and Gardens really was this special place and enchanted me with it’s wild English country style gardens. There is nothing perfect or neat here and that‘s exactly what makes it so charming.
After our wonderful stay at the Montage Palmetto Bluff we had just a 30 minutes drive to our next destination – Savannah. Next to Charleston I heard a lot of good words about this city, so I was really looking forward to exploring this place. In Savannah was also the hotel I was most excited about during our whole trip. The Kehoe House is a charming Inn with a long history and the most beautiful interior (and exterior as well to be honest). Every room is designed in a different color scheme with the most beautiful antique furniture. They’re all named after important peoples in the history of Savannah and we stayed in the Johnny Mercer room, who is the songwriter for „Moonriver“. It’s one of the two rooms with a private balcony and I also fell in love with the little corner with the two armchairs and the blue green color palette. At this point I will not admit how much time I spend to decide for a room since they’re all so beautiful.
As soon as it was clear that I was going to spend my birthday in the Lowcountry, I knew Montage Palmetto Bluff would be the perfect place to be and the best gift to myself. It’s like a wonderland for all lovers of Southern architecture and oak trees and such an tranquil dreamish spot. The area itself is a huge nature preserve and there’s so much to discover that one night was not nearly enough and I certainly have to return one day. If you want to treat yourself or celebrate a special event in your life, this is definitely the place to stay.
We ventured through Charleston's prettiest streets in the most desired neighborhood South of Broad stopping here and there for pictures. My favorites were Legare Street, Tradd Street, Lower King Street and Church Street. There is something to discover around every corner and you're quickly walking a good few miles, but luckily my Castaner wedges are perfectly comfy for those occasions. My dream truly became a reality that day! Finally I was seeing all the colorful houses I've imagined for years and walked underneath my beloved oak trees smelling the blooming jasmine in the air. But the best is the feeling you have while strolling the city. A peaceful serene and excited inspired emotion at the same time. With every new walk I made over the next couple of days the city got even more magical and I really got to admire the details in this beautiful scenery.
The architecture with it’s charming colonial houses with shutters and porches in all colors and the oak trees and blooming fauna got me first. It’s a scenery that looks as if it was painted by a very happy person. Of course I can’t attest it in person yet, but the calmer and friendly swinging lifestyle in the South is also very appealing to me. And especially Charleston seems like the perfect mix since it’s a cultural city with so many things to do, restaurants to try and historic places to discover, but still got this relaxing Lowcountry flair. It’s right at the ocean and the weather is warm and wonderful throughout the year. Can you imagine a better place?
