so i guess activated charcoal lattes are the newest latte trend? for why? i hate to break it to y’all but unless you’ve ingested poison recently, activated charcoal has no real benefits. just stick to matcha [polyphenols/ antioxidants] and chai [antioxidants+anti-inflammatory]

also, if you’re on any important medications, and i know a lot of you are, don’t fucking drink these. charcoal doesn’t discriminate. it’ll render your meds useless and absorb them too as well as some other beneficial nutrients

^^^^ including hormonal birth control. Don’t fall for the charcoal bullshit. Stay safe.

The whole self love thing is good and all but some people can’t fathom being loved. They can’t imagine there being anything good about them. So they can’t simply just stop doing unhealthy things, there’s a process.

Before self love you have to invoke self tolerance and self neutrality.

If you can’t say “I love my body!” say “my body gets me from place to place.”

If you can’t say “I’m beautiful,” begin by shutting down the “I’m ugly” thoughts and saying “I’m a person.”

If you can’t say “I’m valuable” begun by shutting down the “I’m worthless” thoughts and say “all people deserve basic respect, and I’m a person.”

If you can’t say “I’m important,” or “I’m kind” say “I am the one who waters my plant every week” or “I am the one who tips the kind barista down the street” or “I am the one who makes sure my dog does not eat plastic” or “I am the one who leaves long comments on people’s fan fictions.”

“…People with ADHD cope with this huge emotional elephant in two main ways, which are not mutually exclusive.

1. They become people pleasers.  They scan every person they meet to figure out what that person admires and praises.  Then, that’s the false self they present.  Often this becomes such a dominating goal that they forget what they actually wanted from their own lives.  They are too busy making sure other people aren’t displeased with them.

2. They stop trying.  If there is the slightest possibility that a person might try something new and fail or fall short in front of anyone else, it’s just too painful and too risky to even consider.  So, these people just don’t.  these are the very bright, capable people who become the slackers of the world and do absolutely nothing with their lives because making any effort is so anxiety-provoking.  They give up going on dates, applying for jobs, or speaking in meetings.”
