Hello and welcome to my site!I'm Libby and I'm an experienced newborn and baby photographer. My passion is capturing those cute little dimples and curls, long eye lashes and rosy lips, chubby rolls, fingers and toes.
I always love welcoming families back into the studio when their family has grown and this week I welcomed Baby W and his family into the studio.
Baby W doesn’t have a name yet as Mummy and Daddy can’t decide on his name but that didn’t stop him having heaps of character. At just 5 days new he is already incredibly strong and a very determined little boy. He certainly put me through my paces and I’m sure he’ll run rings round his big sisters in the near future.
One of the things that I love about working with Baby W’s family is that they always come to the studio with ideas for unique shots that they would like, which always pushes/challenges me creatively. I also love the fact that they share my love of ‘baby on black’ images like you can see in their sneak peek below. It’s not something I get asked for very often which I think is a shame as I think these type of images are stunning. What do you think?
This evening I received a wonderful email from a client and it has made me take a brave step forwards and to activate the Reviews function on my Facebook page. This is something I have long agonized over doing as I have heard of so many photographer friends being ‘trolled’ through their Reviews but I also realise it is something that is incredibly helpful to prospective clients.
If you have had a photoshoot with me please could I ask a little favour? Could you possibly spare a couple of minutes to leave me a Review & help my little business grow? I’d be very grateful!
In the meantime here is the lovely email I received (with permission to share).
“We have been very fortunate to have Libby capture the first precious images of both our children. Our daughter when she was three weeks old and our son a week old, each shoot resulted in so many striking, natural images that we were spoilt for choice. Libby is incredibly professional, patient and accommodating with an amazing ability to put babies, toddlers and parents at ease. I would highly recommend Libby to capture your cherished newborn images.”
Over the years I have invested a lot (I mean A LOT) of money in props for my little studio. I love nothing more than finding a unique item for my client’s photos to help create a beautiful image. In fact I have two new props to unveil very soon! However storing all of these props can become somewhat difficult – never look in my spare bedroom!
Something else I love is learning new skills and challenging myself creatively. With over 20yrs doing photography I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge, but am a great believer in ‘there is always room for improvement’.
With all of this in mind I decided this year to push my digital editing skills further while also helping slightly to reduce the amount of props I have to store. The answer for me was digital backdrops. This is where you photograph baby on one backdrop and digitally insert them into another backdrop which has been created for you. This way I can create complex set-ups without having 1000 props to worry about.
I am now including 1-2 digital backdrop images with all of my newborn galleries. Here are a few of the beautiful images I have created so far this year.
They say time flies when you have a baby and I have to agree that the saying is true. It seemed like just yesterday I was photographing the beautiful Eva at 3wks old and yet in the blink of an eye she is back in my studio now 3yrs old with her new baby brother Max!
Max is a very relaxed, chilled out baby boy and came to see me at 8 days new. He was still beautifully sleepy and only woke up when he decided he had earned a milk top-up. When I photographed his sister Eva she was a little more challenging as she was older and more aware, but she still gave us a gorgeous gallery of photos. You can see Eva’s sneak peek here.
Eva was an absolute little superstar during the photoshoot. She not only took the direction I gave her during her photos but she also sat so beautifully still while Max was having his photos done. It is also incredibly obvious just how much she loves her baby brother already, as you can see in Max’s sneak peek below.
This week I had the pleasure of helping Ashlyn celebrate her first birthday with a Cinderella theme cake smash.
Ashlyn and her family are regulars in the studio with this being their sixth session with me. I just love when families come back as I get to see how the little babies I photographed grow into beautiful little people full of character.
Certainly Ashlyn and her big sister Evelyn are both full of character and are both very different. Evelyn loves to pose for the camera whereas Ashlyn isn’t so keen. However when the cake came out she forgot all about the camera and got stuck right in! A girl after my own heart.
I recommend booking your cake smash approx 6 months in advance to ensure that both myself and my cake maker are available for your chosen date. You can find out more about my cake smash sessions here.
This week I got to celebrate Isabella’s first birthday with her at her vintage tea party themed cake smash.
Isabella’s mum had asked for a very girly theme with lots of pink for her little princess. Isabella also brought along her big sister who was very happy to get in a few photos with Isabella. Sibling photos are always lovely to have not only for the parents and grandparents, but in years to come for the siblings to look back on themselves.
Isabella wasn’t overly fussed about the portrait photos but once the cake came out she got stuck right in! She was definitely making the most of being allowed to eat as much sugar as she wanted, as she stuffed handfuls of buttercream frosting and candy chocolate casing in! A girl after my own heart.

This week I had the privilege of helping Baby C celebrate his first birthday.
When he arrived he was a little uncertain of what was going on but with the love & support of his Daddies he had a fun time & we were able to capture some lovely moments. I particularly liked all of his amazing gurning faces that he pulled. LOL!
Baby C had my dinosaur themed cake smash with a roarsome dinosaur giant cupcake from Sweet Creation Ltd. I think his Daddies were secretly pretty pleased that he didn’t smash the entire cake up as they got to take the leftovers home with them.

So anyone who knows me knows that I am a MASSIVE Harry Potter fan!
I first fell in love with Harry Potter when I was working in the libraries and I couldn’t understand why there was such a long waiting list to borrow this book called Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Curiosity got the better of me and I just had to pick up a copy … and then didn’t put it down until it was finished! This carried on with me attending every midnight opening to buy each new book, and getting into midnight (staff only – thanks to my partner) viewings of the movies.
I’ve been wanting to do a Harry Potter inspired photoshoot for a long time, so when I came across this AMAZING backdrop I just had to get it. The backdrop is a photo of the Cloisters at Lacock Abbey where some of the Hogwarts scenes were filmed.
Of course that’s not to say that my gorgeous little boy was as ‘in to’ the idea as I was. In typical ‘photographer’s child syndrome’ way we had to do this over two weekends as on the first attempt he decided that the cloak was torture. LOL! We got there in the end, and with my digital backdrop inspired by the Hogwarts Express it was just perfect.
This week I had the pleasure of meeting quite possibly the most laid-back newborn baby I have ever met.
Little Taylor came to see me at just 10 days new and was so incredibly chilled and sleepy that we were completely done within 2.5hrs! He really wasn’t at all bothered by being handled and posed, and only got upset twice – once when he was hungry and then at the end of the session when he decided he’d had enough.
Being so relaxed I was able to get one of my favourite props out – my beautiful wooden bowl from Baby Props by Sally. Once it was lined with some wonderfully soft (and ethically sourced) fur from English Rabbit Fur it was just perfect for Taylor to snuggle down into. As you can see below in his sneak peek he was very happy and comfortable. (NB please note that for safety Mummy was sat right next to the bowl at all times.)

They say that no two babies are ever the same and this weekend that was definitely true!
The last time I met this family was when they had had their first baby – Teddy, who is still the fastest newborn session I have ever done in under 2hrs. You can see his sneak peek here.
So his new baby brother Frankie had a lot to live up too! Well Frankie certainly made me work very hard for my photos as he was quite a light sleeper and wasn’t going to let me get away with anything! But how could I be upset or angry with him when he was so cute.
It was absolutely lovely to see just how much Teddy adores his baby brother as you can see in his sneak peek here.
