MY FAVE SUPPLEMENT BRANDS – Highly bioavailable, well-tested, and cleanly sourced, all of these are also available on Amazon Prime if you are a member! (#NotSponsored. For real.)

Amino Acids

  • KION: This is what I take. Only available online from Kion or Amazon, and super bioavailable. These are all the essential amino acids (EAAs). Best to take these versus a mix of EAAs and BCAAs (branch chain amino acids) unless you know you personally need BCAAs.

Multi-Vitamin

  • The most comprehensive multivitamin and mineral supplement in easy to manage and take on-the-go packets I have found is Primal Master Formula.
  • Thorne Multivitamin Elite is also excellent, but with a few less fancy ingredients that cost more to source, and is priced at half the cost.

Collagen

I use the unflavored kind so I can add to anything, usually to my a.m. coffee. This will support skin, hair, joint, nails, teeth, elasticity, repair, and recovery. It is an added source of clean protein and is always animal based (not vegan).

  • Bulletproof collagen is my go-to brand.
  • Vital Proteins has some great varieties and also a wild-caught marine sourced version if you only eat fish.
  • If you are need of some chocolatey shake goodness, have no fear, Primal Kitchen has made a chocolate coconut collagen fuel mix!
  • All of the above are sold at Erewhon and Whole Foods as well and usually at your local top-notch supplement shop.

Fish Oil

  • Vital Choice: You want one like this amazing Wild Antarctic Krill Oil, high in Omega 3 with the goal being to balance out all the Omega 6 we get in nuts and oils in our day-to-day eating. Our body thrives on an Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio of 1:1 and most people are living with 1:16!

WHEN SHOULD I TAKE THEM?

  • With one exception, take these supplements with or at the end of your breakfast or first meal when the digestion process is most primed to digest the capsule and the nutrients
  • EXCEPTION: amino acids: Take 30 minutes before a workout as priority, a second stack can be taken with a meal should you be in the midst of a heavy training period.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As with everything that has to do with your health, please note that getting approval from your doctor is the first step to being sure what you are taking is right for you.

Hey, squad!

Every time I lead a new bootcamp, I strive to bring information and teaching that will support your fitness goals outside of the workouts themselves. Before our current camp started, I got a lot of really great questions about a topic I want to answer for everyone because I think it’s a super important component of overall health, fitness, and self-care:

NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTATION

It’s confusing out there. I get it. The days are challenging, vitamin choices are overwhelming, and the costs add up. So “What should I take, Lacey? And when, and why???” Glad you asked!

I want to give you the best options, share brands I believe in (and I’m not on their payroll so these are my real-deal faves), and give you a priority list of supplements I think will give you the biggest health boosts first.

SO, let’s start with the last question first….

Here’s the scoop on why we should all be supplementing with vitamins and minerals:

Nowadays, even when eating local and organic, food is less nutrient dense than it used to be. The hard-hitting added stressors—from your iPhone alarm and blue laptop lights to the beeps, bells, and whistles of our modern everyday life—increase our nutrient needs. All of us are typically working out more than the average, sedentary everyday person and exercise increases your need for further nutrients, too. We face tons of new toxins daily—in the air, in products, in our offices, and lives—and we need extra nutrients to push the toxins into our body’s detox pathways to help get rid of them. And, last, but certainly not least, even organic, local, well-sourced foods have way less nutritional value than our ancestors’ food had because agriculture has changed so much over time, and all these added stressors affect everything down to the soil our food grows in.

Adding nutritional supplements will:

  • Aid in muscle repair and recovery
  • Increase your energy
  • Boost immunity
  • Regulate blood sugar
  • Support cognitive function (You are most likely living with more brain fog than you need!)
  • Create antioxidative defense, which defend against all those free radicals! (Free radicals, by the way, are unstable molecules that can damage cells in your body, that arise due to metabolic process, environmental toxins, and stress!)

WHICH SUPPLEMENTS SHOULD I TAKE?

  • Essential amino acids (EAAs): For muscle gain, appetite control, injury repair, recovery. Check out the image I included that gives you a great visual on all the things EAAs do for you.
  • Multivitamin (but not just any!): One that delivers well-sourced and thoroughly researched combinations of benefits from a reputable producer.
  • Collagen: Grass fed or sea harvested (not vegan): aids in joint mobility.
  • Fish Oil/Omega 3: Powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and assists with stress reactivity and depression.
  • BONUS: Sleep: It’s practically a supplement! Sleep is SO IMPORTANT for recovery, system regulation, athletic performance, enhanced memory function, and it keeps you resilient!

!!! TRAINER TRANSFORMATION !!!

I was a professional trainer in this before picture. And I’m still a professional trainer now. I was strong then, and I’m strong now. But the difference between then and now is I knew I had more in me, more to give, more to achieve. So I buckled down and did it….

My entire #ComebackCamp programming started as an experiment on myself, which resulted in the transformation you see here. It’s the same program I’ve developed to transform you guys, my LA and virtual squads, and there are 5 key principles I teach you to follow.

I’ve gotten to where I am by pushing myself to my limits, but also by listening to my body. In my camps,  I teach my clients what it takes to get into the best shape of their lives. That means they have to learn to listen to their bodies when they need rest and when their bodies are ready to push…. But I’m also training them HARD and pushing them to a place where they have to step up. When you go beyond your limit, you either sink or swim. No one sinks on my squad…. They just learn how to swim better (sports anology, no?)

LESSONS I’VE LEARNED

My body has changed so much over the years because I slowly made the necessary changes to be at my physical peak.

  1. From years of sports, I already had the lean muscle mass; I just couldn’t seem to get the body fat down with lifting weights and cardio alone. So I learned through trial and error that I need to do 5-6 hours of HIIT cardio workouts/week. I had to build up the stamina to do that, and that’s what I train my LA local and virtual teams to do.
  2. I learned that starving myself made me a bitch and eating too much made me feel defeated…. So I promised myself I would find a way to eat that allowed me to feel satisfied but not out of control.
  3. The Klean LA food program was a game changer for me. I ate it in my first 8 Weeks To Change, which was an experiment on myself, and I immediately felt like a new person. I didn’t have to think about portion sizes anymore and I didn’t feel like I was absolutely starving with my hard workouts. I mean, I was a little hungry (which is NECESSARY…if you’re never hungry, let’s face it: You’re eating too much), but I could see the body I always wanted coming out so that kept me motivated.
  4. To be the best you can be isn’t just about how you look, so I also added the element to my program of giving 100% energy and love to whatever you do. That way, even if you don’t feel like you succeeded in one area of your life, you gave it your all and that’s all you can do. To consistently fight for good in your life, in my opinion, is the only way to live it. Why else would we be put on this planet?
  5. The game changer for my body to look and perform the way it does today is (and I know you don’t want to hear this, but)…I don’t drink that much. Not drinking gives me sooo much clarity in my life and when I wake up I’m ready to go. I don’t feel like I’m hungover or foggy. I mean, I don’t not drink ever but it’s not every week. And now my tolerance is so low I can really only have one. Haha! When you cleanse your system and live your life for long enough without it, you realize you don’t really need it and more than 2 drinks feels kind of toxic in your system.

It took me about 3 years to master all of these principles. For some of you, it could happen quicker, and for some of you it will happen slower. But I promise if you can find a way to make these 5 principles part of your being, you will succeed in ways you didn’t even know you could. Take it from me…I was a professional trainer in my before picture and I’m a professional trainer now. All of us have it within us to take all parts of our being to the next level.

To get started today, you can join my virtual squad here. Your after is going to thank you.

Xx,

-Coach Lacey

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of fairlife®. The opinions and text are all mine.

I’ve been a trainer for years and clients come to me for a lot of different reasons. In the last few years, there’s been a big shift toward gaining strength and endurance, an athletic mindset that I really love, and think is so healthy. They’ll ask, “Lacey, how do I put on muscle and perform better at the gym? What workouts can I do that will get me in shape quickly? How do I tone up?” We live in a society that wants everything but sometimes doesn’t want to listen or put in the necessary work to maintain and sustain results.

Everyone is go-go-go, and I’m here to tell you that the only way to get lasting results is if you slow-slow-slow (down!). I believe my training method is the fastest way to get and maintain results. It involves kicking butt at the gym, at your job, and in your life. However, in your quest for awesome you must not forget that after crushing it at the gym, you need to fuel your body…and one of the best ways—and my personal favorite way— to be able to keep crushing it is drink Core Power. It doesn’t matter how hard you work if you end up burning out because you refuse to do the necessary work to recover. No one can go at Mach 12 consistently without getting injured.

My workouts are a fusion of HIIT, heavy weights, and athletic/dance-inspired cardio moves. My clients tend to be people who lead very busy lifestyles, and the busier you are the better you have to be at self-care.

That’s why I think it’s beyond important for me to teach you about post workout recovery. When you bust your rear in the gym, I find that people don’t think about what they fuel their body with in order to maintain and sustain their results.

Hard workouts create tiny micro tears in your muscle fiber. The quicker you fuel your system post workout, the less sore you’ll be and the faster you’ll see your hard work pay off. If you don’t fuel your body properly, it will be operating at a deficit, which means it’s not going to work as well for you.

CORE POWER

Core Power High Protein Milk Shakes are my go-to post workout recovery drink and here’s my TOP 5 reasons why:

  1. RECOVERY DREAM: Real dairy protein—found in cow’s milk—is important to athletic recovery because it naturally contains whey and casein proteins. The combination of fast-fast-digesting whey protein with slow-acting casein proteins delivers a constant flow of amino acids and the essential nutrients needed to replenish a body and maximize post workout recovery, while building and repairing lean muscles.
  2. EASY: The drink is shelf stable, so you can drink them cold or not, making them perfect for any type of workout! Just throw them in your bag and head out to the gym, for a run, biking, hiking, whatever.
  3. TASTE: Core Power tastes great, especially in comparison to all those other protein drinks. Because it’s made from fairlife milk, it doesn’t have a chalky protein powder aftertaste.
  4. LACTOSE FREE: Because this beverage is made with fairlife ultra-filtered milk, it is lactose-free and contains no artificial growth hormones.
  5. PERFECT PROTEIN: Core Power shakes have 26g of protein per bottle and come in a variety of flavors: chocolate, vanilla, banana, and strawberry banana. The ELITE line comes in chocolate and vanilla and serves up a whopping 42g of protein per bottle!

If I haven’t sold you on the power of recovery and my favorite drink post workout, I don’t think you’ve read my blog, HA! If you work out hard, I definitely recommend you try this recovery drink.

Xx,

-Coach Lacey

Ellen Bennett whirled into my camp like a magic tornado of energy…. She had accomplished so much professionally but had lost touch with herself and success with her personal wellness. But she was determined to to commit to my camp and my rules. Ellen is a rebel. She created a high-end apron line that everyone told her would fail. Hedley & Bennett is now one of the most successful apron and kitchen-wear companies of all time. Ellen doesn’t follow all rules, but for some reason our magical unicorn vibe matched, and she decided she would follow mine. And VOILA!

She followed my camp code, learned to set alarms, learned to make herself a priority in her own schedule, started saying no, and found the ability to be herself inside the parameters of my coaching. She started channeling her amazing energy in a way that not only served her business but served herself, which is one of the primary tenants of the Stone Tone Squad… Be you, but be the BEST version of you. Ellen’s transformation has been so wonderful to watch and I’m proud of her not just as the businesswomen she is, but the person she is…. My newly married friend who epitomizes the phrase “young at heart.”

Read on for an exclusive Q&A with my friend and client, CEO and new bride, Ellen.

…..

What is your memory of first starting the LSF bootcamp programs?

“When I started your bootcamp, I couldn’t even do the 1-minute plank….” Ellen said. “By the last class, I held the plank for over 3 minutes!  I felt strong. I started this program to get healthy and trim up and what I got out of it was so much more, and I think that’s why I ended up being so persistent. I set out to fit into my wedding dress but in the end I got discipline. I learned to commit and stick to it and anytime I thought, well sh*t, I don’t want to get up this morning (there were plenty of times I failed or was late at the beginning!), but I looked around and there were 30 other women who were so busy, and I was like, Shut up, you don’t have an excuse!” she said laughing.

What was your starting weight before you started following the Stone Method?

“I’m 5’5″ and I started around 165 pounds with Lacey in April 2018, believe it or not. And I was about 137 by the time my wedding happened in November 2018. I lost over 20 pounds over the course of 8 months and gained a TON more muscle, so I actually lost more fat weight but I gained weight in muscle.”

What advice would you give other brides-to-be who are about to start shredding for the wedding?

“I would say to commit to something with a specific goal. I did 3 LSF bootcamps; I started in April and my wedding was in November. Give yourself time to legitimately lose the weight. You see things like, ‘Oh my god, they lost 30 pounds in 30 days,’ but then gain the weight back. I chipped away meticulously for a long time. The change wasn’t overnight, but I got stronger so I could do more workouts. I was consistent about it. Inside and outside the bootcamps I was eating Klean LA. It was my safety blanket. I also got myself a 40 oz. jug, one of those crazy bottles. If I had 2-3 of those a day, I was drinking enough water. If I don’t have a quantifiable measurement I won’t stick to things. The water was really key.”

What was the greatest takeaway you got from participating in the LSF programs?

“The biggest gift Lacey Stone Fitness gave me was discipline and consistency,” Ellen said. “I started documenting it on my Instagram and people watched and saw that it was a community, a ra-ra effort. Then I was excited to go to camp and to Flywheel and to post. I was helping myself, which was helping others and that personal discipline bled over into my work discipline too. I was hitting meetings and getting there on time because, rain or shine, I had to be at the gym on time so I could be everywhere on time. I started getting more out of my day all around. When I work out, I have more energy and I’m more focused. The programs really helped my work and my stress levels because I started dealing with the hard things by working out and not during the rest of my day.”

What have the Lacey Stone Fitness programs offered you that you may not have been finding elsewhere?

“It was a series of things. A lot of people who have done the Lacey thing have had an explosion in their life that brought them here. My friend Daina was like, ‘You have to do this.’ And if you don’t know what it is before you join, oh, wow…. Before LSF I would go to a bootcamp class once every two weeks, a spin class twice a month. The fact that Lacey’s programs are non-transient made a huge difference and the camaraderie of the group was interesting. You go to the gym and you don’t know who people are, but the majority of these woman have real sh*t to do and are making time for this!”

“Another big driver was seeing Lacey and all the other girls be very strong. Delilah, who is in her 60s was doing over a 3.5-minute plank, and I’m 30 years old and can’t…how is this woman beating me? There’s a competitive edge to Flywheel and a competitive edge in a healthy way with LSF, with ourselves, where everyone else is trying to get better and that makes you want to get better.”

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

“Some people think if you have a coach, there’s something wrong with you. But even my coach has a coach. You need a coach if you want to grow, if you want to be a better version of what you already are. The point is, if you set your mind to it, you see that saying ‘I don’t have enough time’ is a total BS lie that you’re using on yourself.”

I am SO PROUD of Ellen and her transformation. It has truly been from the inside out. Now, Ellen never makes any excuses about how busy she is. She shows up for herself and her teammates and gives her everything ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. She is one of the first campers to check in with me daily (another camp rule that used to be tough for Ellen to stick to) and brings so much cheer and intensity to camp that she’s earned the nickname Velocity.

CALENDAR OF DETAILS: *Please take note of early start time on camp day 1, 11/27.

Where:

Lock Box LA – 5925 W. Pico Blvd., 90035.

What & Why:

6 bootcamp-style workouts designed to lean you out and lose those extra pesky 5-10 lbs. The bootcamps are athletic-inspired focusing on your ass, abs, legs, and arms. High energy, high cardio . . .  HEART, HUSTLE, HEALTH!

Motivation:

24/7 attention at camp and outside of camp. Daily e-mail motivation and follow-up directly from me. A consistent team of determined people working along side you to get the most out of these 2 weeks. A strong team accelerates everything.

Healthy Eating:

Along with the a**-kicking workouts, all participants are to participate in the Klean food delivery service. Hard work without a healthy diet is a waste of time. Let’s make the most of these 2 weeks by working you from the inside out. But Lacey, “Food delivery service is too pricey.” My response: “I want you to focus on your health and happiness for the next 2 weeks. A healthy, happy, sexy body is priceless . . . . If you don’t invest in it now, you’ll have to pay for it later. You have one body to live in so it’s in your best interest to love it with everything you have. Take these next 2 weeks and splurge on you.”

No Alcohol:

For 13 days, we are not drinking.

Cost of Camp:

Team Camp: 6 one-hour team tailored workouts: $650

Klean Discount & Offer: 2 Weeks of Results-Tailored Nutrition: Klean

For BEST results it’s mandatory that you commit to the Klean food program. Klean normally costs $336/week for the Get Going Special, or $672 for 2 weeks, but we are going to give you $50 off any package you choose.

Flywheel: Standard monthly member and/or package rates apply.

TOTAL COST: $650 + $622 (you gotta eat) = $1,272 (+ Flywheel)
