After falling in love in New Zealand and nine years of long distances, lengthy visa processes and a move to DC, Ryan and Ashley weren’t about to let a little (okay a lot!) of rain ruin their wedding day. Their wedding was probably the rainiest we’ve ever shot but you would never know from their photos! They were so joyful all day long – even when their shoes were off and they were walking through the mud.
Elizabeth Bailey Weddings, Classic Catering, Kirkland Manor, Event Pro and all of the vendors involved in the day did such an incredible job pulling together the most beautiful wedding in spite of the rain. From the beautiful greens decorating the aisles to the Pimms cups served at cocktail hour to the welcome bags filled with a mix of Washington DC, Baltimore and UK treats, every detail was absolutely perfect!
Congratulations Ryan + Ash! It was such an honor to be a part of your day!
A few weeks ago, we met Emily & Arthur in Washington DC for their engagement photos. It could have been such a cold day but somehow we lucked out with a 60 degree, sunny day in January!
Emily and Arthur’s story began back in high school at St. John’s College High School in Washington, DC. After dating for some time, Arthur moved out of state to finish high school and the two went their separate ways. Several years later, the two met up for drinks in Adams Morgan and it was immediately apparent that they were meant to be.
Arthur proposed (on his birthday!) at a restaurant on the Georgetown waterfront. He was hoping to bring Emily outside overlooking the water, but rainy weather caused him to drop down on a knee in the middle of happy hour.
We headed back to the Georgetown waterfront (and the Jefferson Memorial,) for their engagement photos and had so much fun getting to know Emily and Arthur. Their wedding is just a few weeks away and we’re so glad we were able to sneak their session in before the big day!
We love exploring new locations for engagement sessions so we were super excited when Amanda and Ben suggested Rock Creek Park for theirs. This was our first time at the park and we honestly didn’t know a place like this excited in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. Amanda and Ben both love the mountains and being outdoors – so the trails and falls of Rock Creek were perfect!
We had the most beautiful fall day for their session and we can’t wait for their wedding next fall at Blue Valley Winery!
