Summer is the best time of the year, with adventure lurking around every corner, whether it’s a getaway vacation with family or a cottage weekend with friends.
All Canadians celebrate summer in different ways under the same sun. No matter where you end up, you need those stylish essentials from H&M to celebrate summer in comfort and style. I love H&M, as I have always found very stylish essentials at an affordable price to compliment the suits and tailored clothes in my closet. For vacationing and summer holidays, H&M has all of the essentials you need to pack for your getaway.
I knew I would find what I was looking for, since I do shop at H&M often. I was still impressed by the collection and it was tough narrowing down my selection for my summer Lookbook. In the summer, you are busy every minute of every day.
There is so much to explore and do, and you need a few outfits a day to do it in style. Well, at least I do. I’ve created 3 looks from the H&M essentials collection to help you get dressed for the ultimate summer day on vacation. You tend to have more outfits on vacation, one for daytime, midday and evening; all of these being for different activities throughout the day. That is why I like having so many options for my summer essentials, as you can mix and match as much as possible.
Canadians know what a double double means, usually meaning a coffee ordered at Tim Hortons, with two creams and two sugars. This is my fashion version of a double double, for this ultimate look I am wearing a double breasted suit and a double strap monk shoe. Double up your style points with these stylish closet essentials, a double-breasted suit and a double strap monk shoe should be the stars on your closet roster.
This outfit of the day is a classy suited up grey suit from Tiger of Sweden is a perfect choice for these chilly spring days. These days, I am happy to go for a looser fitting tapered pant leg. This spring go for different cuts when it comes to pants. All shapes and sizes of pants and slacks are having a real moment right now. The ultra skinny and straight cut are taking some time on the back burner.
Tom Ford once said, “Dressing well is a form of good manners”. This is because the style isn’t just looking good, it’s about feeling good, improving your image and matching the occasion. Fashion will improve many parts of your life that many don’t realize. Ahead are the benefits to expect from dressing better as a man.
There’s no doubt that if you look into the mirror when you’re in a great outfit that you will smile. Pair that with a great haircut, a skincare routine and your confidence will skyrocket. We all care about our image to an extent and if you take care of it, you gain self-esteem and respect for yourself.
Everyone has a different style that suits them so don’t be afraid to experiment. You’ll eventually find the best fitting, colors and apparel that look just right.
You’re More Attractive
Women love a man that’s well put together. If you dress sharp and take care of yourself, you’ll easily notice that you get more looks from the ladies. This will land you more opportunities for dates and relationships. Your newfound confidence will also be very attractive, only adding on to your persona.
Business & Career
When you feel good about how you look, the sky is the limit. This opens up a whole new realm of possibilities because you’ll act differently. You’ll be more forward, talkative, and your confidence will be displayed through your behavior. This can definitely lead you towards a new job or business opportunities.
A Better Social Life
Many societies around the world naturally correlate well-dressed people with wealth, success and power. If you’re a man that prides himself in his image, you will gain the respect of many people instantly. This can help you grow a better social life by coming off more interesting and mysterious. People will want to know more about you, what you do for a living and may even chime in on your fashion sense.
Better Mood & Productivity
You will experience an overall happier mood when you dress well because of the confidence and self-esteem you gain. This will project into other parts of your life. At work or in business, you’ll get more tasks completed and make more progress. If you’re a student, you’ll feel great around campus and want to study more.
Style may seem like a simple thing but its benefits go much deeper than expected. It will change how you hold yourself, your confidence levels and potential opportunities in life. Never leave your house without taking care of your image first.
My goal for 2018 is to be fit and eat clean and healthy. I used to work out a lot and I stopped for about 8 months leading up to my wedding. I haven’t been feeling my best obviously, and I needed to get back to the gym. It’s been really hard getting back to where I was, as all of you have experienced before, I am sure. You know how life gets, and we all get busy in life.
So, I have partnered up with Clean Meals to help me get to my health and fitness goals for this year. To add to that I knew I had to take my gym routine to the next level as well, in order to see ultimate results. GUESS WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR GUYS?! Boot camp, yeah! For me, the only way to get myself motivates is to train with others. Last month, I started going to boot camp and it has been a wonderful experience. It’s been invigorating going all out, attending classes 6 days a week and some days even going twice.
Sometimes when we work out we don’t see the results right away because of what we eat. It’s like what everyone says, 80% of the results come from the kitchen, and 20% the workout. Clean Meals have helped me and guided me throughout with meals for 10 days. To be honest, it can be really hard to control portion sizes, especially if you’re eating out at restaurants all the time. I like how I get the proper portions and healthy meals with Clean Meals, portioned out and ready to serve. Furthermore, they offer meat, vegan and vegetarian meals options, delivered right to your door. This works really well for me, and since I am pescatarian I went with a vegetarian option.
With my busy lifestyle and wanting to stay on track with my meals and focused on the gym, I really like what Clean Meals has to offer. I don’t have to cook! (or clean up pots and pans… which might be the number one benefit for some of you.) Another bonus is that it makes counting calories and keeping on track with meals much easier.
If you want to get healthy like me, or like the idea of not cooking, try Clean Meals and use my code “CLEANKISH25” to get $25 off first order.
During the colder months of Winter, always go with a dependable wool suit. This one is a true throwback, gentlemanly look. In this classic grey wool suit, I feel like a regular Gene Kelly, tbh. I’m loving every minute of wearing this winter suit from Tiger of Sweden. This suit is wearable vintage cut, with darts in the slacks and a wider pant leg.
Even though I love a slim cut suit, It’s time to give other types of suits a shot. Anytime you wear a vintage cut suit it is a more bold fashion statement. Therefore there is no need to overdo it with accessories, Keep it simple gents. The look is already made with a great suit like this.
With the spring not too far away, I have partnered with Nakturnal to bring you the chance to win one of two gift cards worth $100 from East Dane, a US-based online menswear retailer.
You’ll want to make sure your prepared to look sharp. Style changes season to season so today we’ll be looking at 8 essential menswear pieces to have for spring. Hope this $100 gift card can get you some great pieces from East Dane.
#1 – Polo Shirts
Originally invented for tennis, polo shirts are comfortable, stylish and have a fair amount of classiness to them. Ideally, they should fit snug on your chest and biceps with some looseness in the midsection. Pastel and bright colours look great on them too, including blue, green, yellow and orange. Cotton or blends of cotton are lightweight and breathable, making them perfect the spring heat.
#2 – Chino Pants
Versatile and easy to wear. These two traits easily sum up chinos. Odds are you might already have a pair in khaki because they are so popular. Chino is a twill fabric that was used for military uniforms before becoming mainstream. It originates from China, hence why the name of the fabric is so close to the countries name. Good spring colours to choose from include khaki, blue, and white. You’ll find that you can throw on practically any outfit and it will match effortlessly.
#3 – Loafers
The spring means it’s time to bring out some fun and casual shoes, so of course, loafers had to be mentioned. Whether they’re leather, suede, have tassels or are plain, loafers are a shoe that needs to be in every mans wardrobe. Pair them with shorts and a polo shirt for a timeless look. If you need to dress up for an event, loafers look great with suits or formal attire.
#4 – Chino Shorts
You might have chino pants, but do you have chino shorts? Made out of the same material as their pants counterpart, chino shorts are comfy and fashionable. They should ideally land above the knee for a good fitting. You can wear with them with anything from sneakers and a t-shirt to boat shoes and a dress shirt.
#5 – A Good Watch
For staying punctual and adding a finishing touch to your look, a watch is a great investment. They come in many different styles that all have their own place in menswear. For casual activities, a chronograph watch is a good choice. When you’re at a formal event, a simple dress watch with a leather strap is key. And if you find yourself hiking or being active, a digital watch will come in handy. Remember to match the accents of the watch to other accents like loafer bits.
#6 – Sneakers
Dressing casually is needed every now and then. For those days, you’ll be glad you have a pair of sneakers around. You don’t need anything fancy or over the top either, just a simple pair of white low tops. They don’t attract attention, match with everything and you can find them for cheap.
#7 – Dress Shirts
The best part about dress shirts is that they look awesome on their own or layered with other pieces. With the warm spring weather though, having one on with a pair of chinos and loafers is all you need to look great. Linen, silk and cotton blends are lightweight and breathable, thus they make the best fabric options.
#8 – Messenger Bag
For work, school and everything else, a messenger bag improves your style and serves a real function. They have plenty of space for your laptop, phone, keys and daily essentials. Leather ages with time but will require a bit more care to remain in good condition. If you want a bag you can rough up a bit, a canvas is a way to go. That sums up the major menswear pieces to consider for this spring. Having these in your wardrobe will give you plenty of outfits to put together.

Having lived in Montreal and shopped at Simons many times before, I was very excited when they finally arrived at Square One in 2016. What is even more exciting is that they’ve asked me to pick a suit from one of their many house brands, namely Le 31. I was pleased to see what they had to offer, and I went with a classic, pleated, double-breasted suit.
Le 31 offers a selection of basics and luxury suits, giving the modern-urban gentlemen a great variety to choose from. Simons is one of those one-stop department stores with suits, accessories, basics and athleisure wear to choose from; Good quality, with stylish pieces that can always be found at reasonable prices.
As many of you know, I was born in Sri Lanka and left when I was 6 years old. Sri Lanka was affected by war at the time of my departure and I had never returned until just recently. I had always wanted to go back but never had the opportunity to do so. I am happily settled down with my wife in Toronto, after moving from Oman to France.
Thankfully 5 years ago, the war came to an end in Sri Lanka and it has become safer for travel. All my family has returned, expect me so it was time to visit home. It has always been on my Bucket list, but like all good things, I was waiting for the right time to go. In 2017, I got married and the obvious choice for our honeymoon was Sri Lanka; especially since my wife is Canadian-born of Sri Lankan descent. We were very excited to see Sri Lanka together.
It has been over 26 years since I was there; I was scared, nervous and a bit emotional. I was so happy to return home after such a long time. It was funny how I still remembered 80% of the people and the places. I even had the pleasure of reconnecting with a few old friends and family members.
It was a long trip but totally worth it. It took us nearly 3 days to get there and when we arrived the first stop was my childhood home. It was located in a village called “USAN” which is part of Jaffna then we visited our family temple which is located south of USAN.
JAFFNA FISHERMEN DISTRICT
Our plan was to visit a few major cities during our stay in Sri Lanka. We stayed in Jaffna, Colombo, Kandy, Wellawaya, then from Kandy, we arranged a taxi to drive through Nuwara Eliya, Ella to see all the nature of making teas and the landscapes of Sri Lanka.
This trip made me realized how time flies and to appreciate life even more. To be honest, I was so impressed by how things had changed and improved over the years. Furthermore, I can see everything getting better and better from here on in Sri Lanka. I would highly recommend for anyone to visit. I am already planning to go again next January. Meet me there?
This time around for the autumnal look of the season will be a rusted red suit. Now, some will say it’s burnt orange and I guess there are hints of that as well. Checkered anything is here with a vengeance and will slowly creep into everyone’s closet. Even women are wearing a classic plaid pant this season, thanks to the likes of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. Checkerboard, checkered and plaid are the pattern this year and expect more of it to come.
This was a custom-made suit by Thomas Henry Made, I love wearing these type of pattern during springtime. As you might see that I kept it with a white shirt and black tie. You can wear different pattern shit but I like to keep it very clean so the suit pattern stands out.
It seems like plaid, gingham and tartan is all over the runway, with everyone adopting the classic fabric. More so, Tartan is the king of Winter patterns. It’s being masculine and classic it is one of my go-to looks for the season. Elevated your look and go for a classic double-breasted suit, as I do.
Winter is the optimal time for suits, pair it with a wool peacoat and you are set for any occasion. While there are few ways to wear this trend, and a patterned suit is always transitional as you can wear the pieces separately and create a different look. Wear your plaid pant suits with your favorite hoodie and you have a much more casual look. Wearing Tiger of Sweden F/W suit and Guidomaggi Shoes
