With the recent news that BurgerFuel, Moo Burger and Salmon and Bear (RIP salmon burger) exiting Newtown, your burger choices in the area is shrinking and here’s our short list of the Best Burgers in Newtown left in the neighbourhood (this list excludes pub fare – which quite frankly YMMV)
Belly Bao’s Newtown’s premiere home to baos and asian fried chicken and is a buzzy good time always. Now on their menu, their instafamous Baogers; a fusion burger (comboing Taiwanese Gua Bao buns and burgers). Chewy house made Bao buns, tasty beef, crunchy radish and a delicious asian mayo makes this a winner. Get yourself an amazing chopped cheese baoger (double with hashbrown and bacon). We can’t get enough! Read more about Belly Bao here.
Life is good when you’re chicken burgering and there’s a hotdog in there
Loaded by BL
You know you want to hack your burger and you want it cheesy and epic and Loaded is the go to for epic burgers (or simple ones if you keep it light and easy). They’ve added a fried chicken patty and that’s now our go-to for one of the tastiest chicken burgers in the hood. Slather it your way – they also now have “ready options” so if you’re not a superfan of staring at their admittedly daunting menuboard, there’s always their fan favourite blame canada. We could eat here every day of the week jumping between beef burgers, chicken burgers to a nice phat loaded hotdog. Read more about Loaded by BL here.
Mary’s burger with it rock and roll, boozing 1 handed burgering philosophy is always a banging good time. Now jazzier and fancier as the venue matures; there’s nary an unmarked surface in there and the burgers are still amazing. Double Marys is our go to. But pretty much everything on their menu is tasty tasty. Read more about Marys Newtown Here.
It’s wholely plant based – Soul Burger has a franchise shop here in Newtown and they seem to have broken the curse of the “weird dark” italian joints that seemed to have opened in there. Dishing up faux-meat, vegeterian burgers soul burger is the Newtown destination for vegeterians and vegans.
