As we all know, Ireland is spoilt with miles and miles of gorgeous scenery, sprawling landscapes and awe-inspiring natural formations throughout every county and countryside village. However, when it comes to camping, we’re also all too familiar with all the hiccups, headaches and plain old mishaps that occur when you’re roughing it out in the wilderness. Glamping is our all-in-one answer to camping, nature, luxury, and comfort without any of the hassles of regular old camping. It’s one of the best ways to step up your camping experience making it more fun, relaxing and stress-free than is usually possible (especially if you’ve left the hammer and tent-peg bag behind). It’s also a great way to convince an anti-camper to spend a night under the stars with you. Let’s take a look at some of the latest and greatest in glamping spots in Ireland, in all four corners of the island.   What is Glamping? Glamping is a very creative combination of the words “glamorous” and “camping”. This alone should tell you most of what’s going on here. While the word might be a new invention, luxury camping isn’t, with some trendsetters setting themselves up with humble yet luxurious abodes in […]

While there are many beautiful waterfalls in Bali, I think Nungnung Waterfall in the north of Bali is by far the most powerful and most spectacular to visit. I’ve visited many beautiful falls around the island but this was the first one that left me speechless upon laying my eyes in it and then getting overexcited at the thought of getting as close to it as possible or even swimming under it! After an amazing day full of adventure riding our scooters to Nungnung Waterfall yesterday, here’s my guide to visiting this amazing place including how to get there, how much it costs, best time visit and more! Map of Nungnung Waterfall Bali As you can see from this map of Nungnung waterfall, it’s situated in the central / north of Bali. This is actually where many of the best waterfalls can be found, with some of the biggest and best near Munduk in Bali’s far north. While it looks far away, it’s actually not too long a drive from places like Ubud or Canggu. Getting to Nungnung Waterfall As I live in Bali, my friends and I just jumped on our scooters and rode to Nungnung waterfall. It took […]

Until a few years ago, the island of Nusa Penida off the coast of Bali was a fairly undiscovered gem. Thanks to Instagram (whether you love it or hate it!) the islands popularity has skyrocketed with ferry loads of day trippers and adventurers sticking around for a little longer making their way to this adventure paradise. Following two brilliant trips to Nusa Penida so far this year, and encountering endless groups of lost travellers attempting to explore the island independently, followed by endless questions thrown my way by friends looking for advice about visiting, i thought it’s about time someone put together a comprehensive guide on visiting the island, how to get there, where to stay and some words of warning. I’ve put a lot of time and effort into this guide and hope you will find it helpful!  Nusa Penida: Know Before You Go There are only 4 ATMs on the island and often up to 3 of these will not be working. It’s advised to take out enough money to last you for a few days on the islands before leaving Bali.  While some of the biggest hotels and western-style restaurants will accept credit card, most warungs, local […]

Known for its exotic dishes and beautiful flowering cherry trees, Osaka is a fantastic place to visit when you’re in Japan. It’s smaller than Tokyo, but there is lots to see and do, accommodation is cheaper, and it’s a little less crowded than Japan’s capital! We’ve put together a list of Osaka day trips so you know what to do and where to go when planning your trips from this central hub. Best Osaka Day Trips   Take a train to visit Himeji Castle This Japanese hilltop castle is one of the most extraordinary and best-preserved castles in the country, with a white exterior and soaring rooves, which gave it its other name, the ‘White Heron Castle. The castle is Japan’s finest surviving example of classic Japanese castle architecture! So much of Japan’s history has been destroyed in wars, making this site special for its beautiful preservation – it is well worth a trip to experience the grandeur and culture of 14th century Japan.   This trip is extra special in spring when the flowering sakura are out in full force! The trip there takes 40 minutes to an hour, depending on whether you have a Japan Rail Pass or not […]

On my trip to India this February, Lucknow was the last city I visited. I didn’t know much about it until I arrived and was pleasantly surprised to find a city rich in culture and tradition and full of beautiful architecture. It’s also very famous for its food with a lot of outside influence and twists on normal Indian cuisine. Below is my pick of the top 9 things to do in Lucknow – a must visit city in Northern India. 9 Things To Do In Lucknow, India  Places to Visit in Lucknow Hazratganj Hazratganj is most probably the most important of Lucknow’s places to visit. It’s the city center, a major shopping area, and full of great restaurants, open air stalls, theaters, hotels, and even some offices. It’s a great spot to start doing some Lucknow sightseeing. “Ganjing” is an activity common in Hazratganj – it refers to lackadaisical walking around, shopping, browsing, and generally just enjoying the area. One could “ganj” for days on end, with endless entertainment, food and wares at a finger’s reach. Try visiting the Moti Mahal, a pure vegetarian local restaurant which is very popular amongst tourists and locals alike, or stroll across the […]

The spectacular Kelinking Beach Nusa Penida, otherwise known as the “T-Rex Bay” or “T-Rex cliffs” is one of the most iconic viewpoints on the island and one of the most used images when is comes to promoting Bali and the Nusa Islands. With a lot of striking similarities to the famous shipwreck beach on the island of Zakynthos in Greece, it’s no surprise this unusual shaped cliff, accompanied by a powder-white beach and turquoise waters draws so many tourists to Nusa Penida. Here I’m going to share my two experiences getting to Kelingking Beach Nusa Penida this year (because no story about Nusa Penida can be written without mentioning the death-defying roads!!), as well as sharing photos, how long to spend there and some things to be cautious of as it can be quite a dangerous place to visit. Map of Kelingking Beach and Nusa Penida Below is a map (from Google maps) of where Kelingking Beach Nusa Penida and T-Rex cliffs are located on the island on Nusa Penida. As you can see it’s on the south-western corner close to other main attractions such as Crystal Bay, Angels Billabong and the islands two most famous waterfalls. How To Get To […]

Atuh Beach Nusa Penida, off the coast of Bali, is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Nusa Islands and is definitely worth visiting when staying on Nusa Penida. However, this beautiful and fairly remote beach can be pretty tricky to find – even if using Google Map and following what appears to be newly-erected road signs. One will take you to the beach, and one will take you to the viewpoint. And they are surprisingly quite far away from each other!  Atuh Beach Nusa Penida Map These maps from Auto Beach area should help explain what I mean about how far away the parking area is from the viewpoint – almost a half hour drive to get from one to the other! Getting to Atuh Beach Viewpoint  Here’s the main problem: when locals (and local road signs!!) refer to Atuh Beach, they’re actually referring to the Atuh Beach view point – which to be fair does have one of the most spectacular views on the island. The problem is you can’t actual get down to the beach from the view point – you have to drive around 25 minutes back to a main road then back towards the […]
