Where to start with this wedding?!?!? I met up with Amy & Rick waaaaay back at the start of 2016, so this big day was in my diary for a long time and the closer we got to it, the more I was looking forward to it! I knew these guys would be a lot of fun, but when they also brought on board Tom Harrington Films, Red Floral Architecture, Andy Murphy DJ, The Rush and of course, Colshaw Hall’s exclusive caterers, Barretts and my lovely friends from Your Ceremony, I knew it was going to be just perfect!
We’ve been very lucky with some incredible weather this summer and Amy & Rick’s wedding day was just magnificent. Glorious blue skies, so lovely and warm, the perfect English summer wedding!
I arrived at Colshaw Hall to meet Amy & the girls in the morning, before Rick and the boys arrived in plenty of time for a cheeky beer and to start welcoming their guests. The morning was great fun, really relaxed and you could just tell that this was going to be an absolute corker of a wedding.
Massive thanks as always to Shelley, Ian, Sarah, Cam and all the amazing team at Colshaw Hall for all of their help on the day – it really is an absolute pleasure to work at this amazing venue and with such a wonderful team
So on with the wedding!
Amy & Rick’s Colshaw Hall Wedding was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. I’m so lucky that I get to work at Colshaw Hall so regularly – it really is one of the best wedding venues I’ve ever photographed weddings at and I look forward to every single wedding I have there. The team are amazing, they treat every single bride and groom as if theirs is the only wedding in the world and every guest who ever walks through the doors genuinely loves their experience there.
To see more of my Colshaw Hall Wedding Photographs, just type “Colshaw Hall” into the search bar above!
Congratulations again Amy & Rick, thank you so much for having me along to shoot your Colshaw Hall Wedding Photographs – can we do it all again please?!?!?!
Wow, where do I start with this incredible wedding?!?! Claire & Keith got married at one of my absolute favourite Cheshire wedding venues, Merrydale Manor, and it was the most wonderful day from start to finish!
Claire & Keith live overseas, so organised their entire wedding from the other side of the world and it could not have been more perfectly planned. Merrydale Manor is the sister venue to one of my other absolutely favourite Cheshire wedding venues, Colshaw Hall. Both venues operate on the same foundations – the bride and groom are THE most important people in the world, the level of service and attention to detail is second to none and they will do anything and everything to ensure that each and every wedding day is absolutely perfect. And working in that kind of environment is nothing short of perfection! As a supplier working at Merrydale Manor, Michael, Hattie, Ken and all of the team do everything to ensure that the day runs completely smoothly behind the scenes and nothing is too much trouble – they were so incredibly helpful and I can’t wait to work there again!
It was a lovely, relaxed morning – just the way it should be as you’re preparing to get married!
When Keith arrived, he spent his time welcoming their guests before it was time to head to the ceremony room.
Claire & Keith wanted the photography to be very relaxed, unobtrusive and documentary in style, which is exactly what we did! I wanted them to enjoy being at their own wedding, rather than being dragged off for hours and hours, so we picked off the groups photographs they wanted to do and then they spent pretty much all of their drinks reception with their guests!
We snuck off for ten minutes after the wedding breakfast to give them a bit of time together and shoot some epic sunset shots, but the majority of their day was spent with me shooting very relaxed, natural images and them spending time with their friends and family – the perfect balance!
I was super excited to shoot this wedding and am equally excited to share them in this blog post! So without further ado, I present to you, Claire & Keith’s beautiful Merrydale Manor Wedding Photographs…..
So there we have it! Claire & Keith’s epic Merrydale Manor Wedding Photographs!
Fire me a message through my contact form if you’d like to chat to me about shooting your wedding at the stunning Merrydale Manor
Sarah & Matt’s Owen House Barn wedding was so much fun I don’t even know where to start! They were blessed with the most incredible weather, to say we were only in early April. They had their entire drinks reception outside! That often doesn’t even happen in June, July and August in this great country of ours! (Especially in the North West!)
Owen House Barn is one of my absolute favourite wedding venues in Cheshire. It’s a family owned and run venue and nothing is overlooked. The service is incredible, the attention to detail in the barn and the surrounding grounds is unsurpassed and it’s an amazing place to shoot weddings in!
Sarah & Matt had an absolute dream team of a lineup of wedding suppliers at their wedding, including my own (far better) other half, Emma of LOVE Bridal Boutique in Cheshire supplying Sarah’s stunning Enzoani dress, my friends from Vanilla in Allseasons who catered the day and served the most magnificent food and my friends from The Potting Shed in Alderley Edge who looked after all things floral, whilst Strings Attached provided an amazing musical accompaniment throughout the ceremony and drinks reception.
I personally love shooting weddings at Owen House Barn – every time I visit there is something new to look at, somewhere else you can shoot exciting, creative wedding photos but more than anything, it’s always full of wonderful people and it seems to ALWAYS go off at the evening reception – it’s just a proper party barn!
Right, on with the show – enjoy Sarah & Matt’s wedding photos and drop me an email if you like the idea of relaxed, natural, capturing the moment style wedding photography on your big day!
Congratulations again Sarah & Matt!
Thank you so much for having me along for the ride – I loved every moment of being involved in your Owen House Barn Photography and wish we could do it all again!
A little throwback to the Autumn with this gorgeous Styal Lodge wedding!
Sarah & Jonny were married in November in Wilmslow and then headed on to Styal Lodge, just up the road, for their reception. It was an absolutely beautiful day, if not a little chilly, but the weather God’s were smiling down at them and we had a perfect English, Autumnal wedding day
I started off in the morning meeting Sarah and the girls at her house in Wilmslow where all the preparations were underway, before heading up to church to catch up with Jonny before the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony was perfect – intimate, emotional and full of personality. Sarah & Jonny wanted to take some family photographs outside of church before we left for Styal Lodge, which thanks to the great weather, were nice and easy to do!
Then it was off to Styal Lodge! I LOVE this venue. Family owned and operated by the wonderful Higham family, nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely put their heart and soul into making every couple who get married there feel so very special.
Finally, it was great to meet the guys from Triple Scotch Ceilidh band who had the dance floor JUMPING from minute one (see the picture above for evidence!)
Sarah and Jonny’s Styal Lodge Wedding Photographs are definitely some of my favourites from last year – it was just such a fun, relaxed day, they were brilliant fun to work with and all their friends and family were super-lovely too!
Anyway, time to get on with it! Enjoy Sarah and Jonny’s Styal Lodge Wedding Photographs below…
Congratulations again Sarah and Jonny! It was an absolute blast working with you guys at Styal Lodge – thanks so much for having me!
Where do I start talking about Lauren and Matt’s big day at Owen House Wedding Barn?!?! It was INCREDIBLE from minute one – everything that a truly great wedding should be: Emotional, exciting, individual, personal, genuinely great fun – people were stood on their chairs before the speeches had even started!
Owen House Wedding Barn is one of my favourite places to shoot a wedding. It is unique, cool, full of individuality and literally every time you visit, something has changed – so no two weddings are ever the same. Dan, Vanessa, Kris, James, Matt, Hettie and all the team are wonderful to work with, nothing is too much trouble and they work their arses off to deliver incredible wedding after incredible wedding to those couples lucky enough to get married there.
Vanilla in allseasons catered Lauren and Matt’s wedding and true to form, the food was outstanding. And the service – top drawer. They’re a fantastic team to work with and it was a pleasure working with Julie and all the team as always
I was also lucky enough to be working with my better half, Emma, for Lauren and Matt’s wedding, as Lauren had bought her stunning Stewart Parvin wedding dress from Emma at our beautiful shop, LOVE Bridal Boutique and Lauren looked just incredible.
The whole day was at Owen House Wedding Barn, so I started off meeting Lauren and the girls in the very cool ‘beauty shed’ in the morning…
What a day!
I must give a shout out to my friends at Cheshire East Registry – also known as “Your Ceremony” on social media – always a pleasure working with these lovely guys, they always deliver a beautiful wedding ceremony.
Also, a big shout out to The Best Singing Waiters who were responsible for whipping the guests into an absolute frenzy before the speeches had even started!
Another big shout out to my friends at Luminate Events – they brought their magic touch and created incredible lighting alongside the beautiful lanterns hung from the ceiling which really made all the difference to the look of the barn on the day.
Finally, a massive congratulations and thank you to Lauren and Matt for having me along to take their photos. They were incredible, they weren’t scared of anything, they loved every minute of their wedding which resonated right through their guests and meant that every single person there loved every minute of this fantastic wedding too!
To see more images like Lauren and Matt’s Owen House Wedding Barn Wedding Photos, have a good scroll through the rest of my blog, and definitely check out the other weddings I have shot at Owen House too
What a way to finish 2017! Rachel and Chris got married at the beautiful Heaton House Farm on the 21st December and it was my very last wedding of the year and I knew from the very first time I met this couple that it was going to be an absolute belter of a wedding!
They wanted it to be fun, relaxed and a great party for all their friends and family – and it absolutely was! They surprised their guests with top wedding entertainer (and great friend of mine) Howard Wing, who had the place absolutely jumping during the wedding breakfast, before the speeches had even started!
It was great to work with Mike from Satin Pictures as well, after having last seen Mike many years ago when believe it or not, we played in a band together!
As always, it was a pleasure working with Vanilla in Allseasons who catered Rachel and Chris’s wedding and all the amazing staff from Heaton House Farm who helped the day go without a hitch and made my life so easy throughout the day. Big shout out to Nicola for all her help in particular
So, on with the story! I met up with Rachel and the girls as they were getting ready in the stunning bridal prep suite at Heaton House Farm, before Chris arrived with the boys ahead of the ceremony ‘under the night sky’ (you’ll understand what this means when you see this incredible ceremony space in the images below!) – enjoy!!!
Congratulations again Rachel and Chris, it was an absolute pleasure working with you guys from start to finish! Thank you for being so much fun, for being up for anything and for saying ‘yes’ to all of my ideas! These incredible images are because YOU guys helped make them happen

2017 where have you gone?!?!? I don’t even know where to start with this recap of all of the amazing weddings I’ve photographed this year, it’s been a truly wonderful year and a massive honour to be involved in so many incredible weddings.
I’ve been to some beautiful new venues and been lucky enough to have been back a number of times throughout the year to some of my absolute favourite venues – it’s been an absolute belter.
From weddings abroad, to wedding photos that have gone viral around the world, to being lucky enough to have been asked by some of my very good friends to photograph their wedding days (the ultimate honour!) I’ve had one hell of a year and I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store.
But for now, I’ll crack on with the most difficult blog post I do every year – my ‘Best Wedding Photographs of the year” post. One photograph from each wedding. Just one. Chosen by me, for all manner of reasons. It may be a particularly evocative moment, one that brings back specific memories from that specific part of the day, a shot I’m particularly proud of, or one that I feel does the perfect job of representing what I do. Not all of them feature the bride or indeed the groom but every single one of them features a moment from that wedding that will always stay with me
So….with all the thank you’s coming at the end of the post….here’s my 2017 / The best wedding photographs of the year….!!!

Massive thanks to all of my incredible brides and grooms for not only booking me in the first place, but for trusting me, being excited about their photography and just getting stuck into having a bloody good time on their wedding day. That is genuinely the secret to having the best time in the world on your wedding day. Book suppliers you trust and are excited by. And then leave them to it, have a few drinks, spend time with your friends and family and enjoy the party – and that’s how you then get incredible wedding photographs – by being right in the middle of the action
My next thank you goes out to my beautiful and unbelievably supportive wife. My biggest and harshest critic (after myself!) who helps to push me harder and harder at being a better and better photographer. Emma – thank you for all your love, help, support, critique and inspiration. Thank you for being my favourite wedding supplier friend too! LOVE Bridal Boutique is an incredible success that is down to YOU. I love you xxx
Big shout out to all of my family for their love, support and guidance – Mum and Dad, Jo, Paul, Meggie and Jake the Snake, Kate, Ellis and Clare – I love you guys.
Keith and Pauline, Lisa, Simon and Jacob – I love you guys too.
Sian and Steve of The Flower Lounge: You know that I can’t write our mutually favourite word here. If I could, I would, so that you know how much I love you. Thank you for continually tolerating my last-minute everything. I love working with you guys. Solita soon!!! xxx
Ellie & Harry (AKA Ellie Sax and Laserboy Wonder) I can’t. It’s too much. The Sweetnesses. You are both amazing and incredible friends. Emma and I are very lucky xxx
So there we have it: 2017 / The best wedding photographs of the year !!!
I hope you enjoyed looking through them, if you’re a future bride I hope you’ve found some inspiration in them and if you’d like to chat about wedding photography with me, just drop me a message through my contact form and I’ll be delighted to help!
What can I say about Jess and Matt’s incredible Colshaw Hall wedding?!?!?
Colshaw Hall is one of my absolute favourite wedding venues, not just in Cheshire, but across the whole country! It’s such a beautiful place, the staff are just brilliant (massive thanks to Shelley and all the team for all their help as always!) and everywhere you look is simply perfect for wedding photography!
Jess and Matt put an unbelievable team together for their wedding, many of whom I’m lucky enough to call friends as well as great colleagues, so I knew this wedding was going to be great fun right from the start. Massive shout out to all the brilliant suppliers at the end of this post
So, where to start?!
I arrived at Jess’s Mum’s house in the morning where all the girls were getting ready and the champagne was flowing…
I left the girls in plenty of time to get over to the church to meet Matt and the boys and shoot guests arriving and generally just capture the build up to the ceremony starting. I love shooting both parties on the morning of the wedding, just to give each of the bride and groom a little look at what the other was up to!
When we arrived at Colshaw Hall, Jess and Matt’s gorgeous labrador, Lola, was waiting for them so that we could take some photographs of the three of them together!!!
There are literally no words when you walk into a wedding breakfast room that looks like THIS!!!
This is a Red Floral Architecture masterpiece!!!
Congratulations again Jess and Matt! It was an absolute honour to be involved in your amazing day and I had an absolute blast from minute one!
Wow. What a year 2016 was! I’ve shot some incredible weddings, worked with incredible brides and grooms and I’ve had an absolute blast! It’s become tradition for me to do a round up of each year on my blog, so here’s this years: 2016, a year in wedding photographs.
This is very much a personal blog post, made up of images that I love from each wedding I’ve shot. I have to be really ruthless with myself when I do this, as I could easily have 50-odd images from each wedding feature, but it would end up being the world’s longest blog post and wouldn’t even load!
I challenge myself to pick just one image from each wedding. One that reminds me of a particular moment, a particular feeling, a particular emotion. I may, or may not have stuck rigidly to that challenge….
So without further ado, in no particular order (and saving all my thank you’s for the end of the blog post!) here’s some of my favourite images I shot at weddings through the course of 2016.
Some epic, some powerful, some emotional, some funny – but every single one shot with love, care, attention to detail and adrenaline coursing through my veins.
I bloody love this job.
I’ve been lucky enough to work at some incredible venues, with some incredible suppliers, far too many to list, but I must say one or two direct thank you’s before I sign off:
Emma Draper. My wife. My harshest yet fairest critic and motivator. I couldn’t do any of this without your help, love support and guidance. And she still finds time to smash it at LOVE Bridal Boutique too! ;)
My family. Pretty much the same as above! Love you guys so much.
Emma’s family. Again, pretty much the same as above! Love you guys too!
Some special friends. Amazing at what they do within the wedding industry and wonderful pals too:
The Higham’s, Tom & Laura from Silk Wedding Films, The Wings, The Murphy’s, Sian & Steve from The Flower Lounge, Gav and the boys from The Rush – I’m looking at all of you lot and more
A massive thanks to Jonny Draper Photography Associates, Lottie and Kate, who are shooting weddings for me in 2017 and beyond….you girls rock.
Finally…my amazing brides and grooms. THANK YOU. I can’t do what I do without your incredible enthusiasm, excitement and commitment to your incredible weddings. Thank you all for being awesome.
Right, that’s it, 2016 / A year in wedding photographs….done.
I have been soooo bad at updating my blog recently, that I thought the best way to bring it quickly up to date, would be to show you some 2016 highlights!
We’re about to hit the halfway point of this year, so what better time for me to share some of my favourite weddings of the year so far I have been so lucky to work with such wonderful brides and grooms, in this country and abroad (in fact, I’m currently packing for an Ibiza wedding this weekend!) and countless amazing wedding friends, both old and new.
I’ve decided to pick just a couple of images from each wedding that really stand out to me, that remind me of amazing moments at the wedding, that remind me of such amazing days overall.
I’ve posted them in no particular order – just the way they seem to have flowed together as a sequence of wedding photographs.
There’s nothing more to say, but, enjoy! And bring on the rest of 2016 – if it’s half as good as the first part, then it’s going to be bloody awesome…!!!
Just a quick final note, to say a huge thank you to every single one of my incredible brides and grooms, for being excited at what we can create together, for committing to having a bloody brilliant time at their weddings, so that I have so many amazing moments to shoot and for just being all round wonderful people who make me fall in love with them and want to be their best mate – love you guys
Also, honourable mentions to the incredible venues, suppliers and all round good eggs that I love working with, who I was lucky enough to work with across all these weddings and weddings coming up in the future (again, in no particular order)
LOVE Bridal Boutique / Styal Lodge / Silk Wedding Films / The Flower Lounge / Andy Murphy DJ / Red Floral Architecture / The Rush / Ashfield House / Rebecca Reville Films / Sam Fitton Magician / Paisley Gamble Hair Stylist / Flossy & Leigh / Special Days Events & Venue Dressing / Top Table Caterers / Kerry Baker MUA / Pink Pepper Caterers / Vanilla in Allseasons / Great John Street Hotel / The Word is Love / The Belle Epoque / Gillan Edgar Music / and many, many more xxx
