How I Made My First $3,000 (and How You Can Replicate A System To Make Even $10,000 or More)

Is it possible for you as a Nigerian to be in Nigerian and be making money from abroad?

I’m not just talking about money, I mean good money.

What I’m going to share with you made me my first $3,000 back in 2008.

Yes, back in 2008.

The good news is that you can use the same strategy to make your first (or even next) $10,000.

When I got started, I took a BIG gamble.

Yes, a very, very big one.

I’m not sure if I should call it a risk, hence the word ‘gamble’.

I told my very first mentor, Dr Sunny Ojegbase, who is the 
owner and publisher of complete sports that I will prefer to get int’l clients who will pay me hard currencies.

It was a hard decision but I did it.

All I wanted was dollars, I wasn’t even sure how to get it.

Then I got my first client, a beautiful lady whose picture you are seeing.

Her name is Jessica Erewort, that's her pic you see.

She paid me my first ever $3,000 back in 2008.

Yes, 2008.

I didn’t have a Paypal account or even any US account at the time, she had to pay me through western union money transfer.

Then I got another client who paid me another $3,000.

Then another client.

Then another client.

It kept going on until I started getting clients who started paying to our dorm account.

Today, it’s a totally different thing for me and my companies.

There’s nothing special about me, you too can start exporting your products and services and get paid in dollars, euros, etc.

In fact, when I got started, the odds were completely against me.

When I say completely against me, I mean every single word of it...

I knew NO Nigerian who was doing what I attempted to do.

I didn’t have money. People say it takes money to make money, right? I had none of it.

I had the typical Nigerian accent. How will oyinbo hear or understand me when I talk?

My internet network was 2.5 G at the time. Now, we have 4G lite.

There was no way I could get paid even if I got 'oyinbo' client wanting to pay.

I was from Nigeria, a country perceived to be corrupt.

In 2008, America had one of her worst recession ever in history. Meaning, there was poverty in the US.

I can go on and on.

Despite all these challenges and more, I did it.

I entered the market and crushed it.

Yes, I made it.

I didn’t just do it, I did it in a great and big way.

See, most of all the excuses you give are bullshit.

I knew I had a lot of limitations, I still went ahead to do it.


These Oyinbos listen to me and take instructions from me.


When I talk, they shut up and listen.

Why?

Because they know I have something to offer.

A few years ago, I created a product and stamped 150,000 naira on it and guess what?

The product did well but some people were complaining that the price was high.

What did I do?

I completely stopped selling the products to Nigerians, instead I stamped $2,000 on it, that’s N720,000.

Now, I didn’t change anything on the product, it was the same exact product but I changed the market, the audience.

My revenue EXPLODED.

START A BUSINESS: WHY THE ‘PERFECT TIME’ IS AN ILLUSION (& WHAT TO DO INSTEAD)

Sometimes ago I was with a friend who wanted to start a new business and he was complaining about the amount of money he had.

The amount of time he spent complaining about the money he had would have been enough to find some creative ways to get the money he wanted.

He decided to wait for 6 months to hustle for the money he wanted, and he did wait.

When the six months came, the money was still not complete.

One of our mutual friends asked him to wait for another three months, he waited but it turned out that the money that person was expecting didn’t come through, and my friend’s capital was depleting because  he has already started touching some parts of the money.

He eventually waited for 18months and couldn’t get the money he wanted, he decided to let that vision die like that and pursue other things.

I learnt a lesson from his experience.

Never wait for the perfect time, instead, perfect the time yourself.

 I hear people all the time who say what they have is not enough but the truth is that, whatever you have is enough to get started.

Look at the story of the Biblical David, he wanted to kill goliath, he had nothing but stones.

 Naturally, if you want to kill a giant like goliath, you would need to use grenades, machines guns or even weapons of mass destruction, not just stones.

Remember Samson?

 He had to fight and the only thing he had was the jaw bone of an ass and it was the only thing he used.

Do you know the story of CNN?

Ted Turner started CNN from single room but today, CNN is the biggest TV brand in the world.

Mark Zukerberg  started Facebook from his dormitory and today Facebook has over 3.5 billion users .

One thing you must know is that everyone who built a sustaining business started from scratch. 

Think of Google,Amazon,Facebook,Paypal,Twitter and any BIG business today.

They were once small and they grew to their ‘greatness’.

No one is born great, we grow to attain greatness.

I’m not sure how old you are now,may be 20 years,or 35 or even 55, no matter what your age is now, you were once a baby.

You eventually grew to be the man or woman you are now.

So, no matter where you are or what you have, if  you want to start a business…

Quit complaining and waiting, just  start now!

The bitter truth is that, what you have right now is enough to start.

 Imagine what would have happened if Mark Zukerberg had to wait for the perfect time like my friend did, probably, we will never see Facebook.

What about if Ted Turner had decided to wait until he has enough money to build the current CNN studio, chances are, he will never have started and CNN would not have existed.

The world need the ‘small thing’ you have, it is enough to get started.

If you can’t prove that you will grow small thing to a big thing, you will never ever be able to grow a big thing to a GREAT thing.

Quit waiting for the perfect time, it is an illusion that exists on in your mind.

 Don’t wait for the perfect time, this is the perfect time to start whatever it is you want to start.

Just like the biblical Daniel, he believed that the stones he had was good enough to do the job, you also have to believe that what you have is good enough to get the job done.

How To Get Premium Clients, Consistently.

Would you like to get premium clients, every single day?

You see, if you are able to consistently get high paying clients to your business…

The big question now is, how?

Let me share a story of a guy named Nnamdi with you, his story will help you understand the importance of attract high ticket clients.

Few years ago, Nnamdi became one of our clients. 

When we met for the first time, he told me how things were tough for him.

He painted the picture of a client he worked with that paid him far less than what he usually charges but the client begged and because he needed the money, he accepted.

So, after accepting the job, the client didn’t allow him to rest. He regretted ever accepting that job, finally, he had to refund the man.

It is true that people who pay the less worry you the most.

Nnamdi tried hard to get ‘good clients’ but they were not forthcoming.

He was lucky to get people who paid him a few huge  naira but they were not enough to keep body and soul together.

So, everynight, he would stay awake thinking and sometimes even in tears ‘where will my next clients come from?’

He listened to all the gurus, bought all material he could afford but right before his eyes, his business was dying.

Nothing hurts a true entrepreneur like when his business is suffering and he’s unable to fix it quickly, it truly hurts.

He was indebted to many people and the 2016 recession was telling heavily on him and his business.

The worst part was that he wasn’t sure how to get out of the mess. He made just a little above 300,000 naira in the whole of 2016.

Yes, just about 300,000 naira, which is less than $850 in the whole of 2016.

Life can be very cruel sometimes especially if you don’t have the right formula.

Nnamdi had so many worries, fears, doubts, pains, disappointment, heartbreaks in his business.

He was getting the wrong clients, people that couldn’t even pay him high fees and he couldn’t grow fast.

Truth is, if you want to grow your business fast, you need money. If your clients are broke people, your business will be broke.

Listen, it is not the quantity of clients you get, it is the quality that matters.

So, how did he take that dying business to 35 million naira business in about 21 months, employed 9 workers ( pays each at least N150K), bought a company car and moved to their new office?

See, growing a business is easy especially if you know what to do.

Nnamdi reached out to us for help, we asked him to STOP going for ‘cheap’ clients, instead to focus 100% on getting high paying customers.

Yes, we know it is a hard advice but Nnamdi was desperate for solution.

Most people will rather work with 200 low paying clients who will pay them 3000 naira each which is a total of N600,000 naira instead of working with one client who is ready to pay them N3 Million naira.

The major reason is that most people are ignorant.

They have this myth that it is hard to get premium clients who will pay them high fees but it is NOT true.

The truth is that, it is much easier to get high paying clients than it is to get low paying clients.

Like I told you before, you don’t need many clients to have a successful business, you just need the right kind of people.

Anyway, Nnamdi took our advice, we helped him developed some marketing systems for attracting high paying clients and within a few days, he landed his first high-end client and got paid N2,000,000 and today, he has a super successful business.

Recall that in the whole of 2016, his company made just a little above 300,000 naira?

Now, only one client is paying him 2 million naira and others started flowing in.

Today, he has taken that same struggling company to 35 million naira in annual revenue, employed 9 workers,bought a company car and moved to their new office.

He is expanding fast, he doesn't have fears or doubts anymore, Life is beautiful, business is booming.

A recent report by trinity mirror shows that consumers don’t trust 67% of brands ads and promises. So, screaming on top of your voice won't cut it.

Sure, you can still make some inroads (into your market) by screaming  ‘my stuff is the best’ or by screaming ‘if you buy my stuff, you will instantly get XYZ’.

However, you’ll be faced with a lot of problems.

Infact, that is what ALL your competitors are doing.

Your competitors are already screaming and shouting.

They’re doing what I call the ‘Oshodi mentality’, which means shouting and more shouts.

If you go to Oshodi bus stop (in Lagos, Nigeria) or any other major bus stop, you’d hear the bus men (conductors) screaming.

You will hear a lot of noise and even more noise.

You might even get lost in the noise.

So, when you are screaming ‘I am the best, buy from me’, that is exactly what you will be doing to your market.

While making your promises is a way to penetrate a new market, it comes with a lot of ‘downsides’.

Now, I’m going to share another strategy for getting entering a new market and dominating it, and even making BIG money.

This second strategy I’m going to share with you is responsible for taking a brand new Nigeria company from merely making N250,000 monthly in revenue to making 20 million per month in revenue within 18 months.

It is one of the strategies Tesla used to generate over N14 billion dollars in a 2weeks marketing campaigns.

Another company grew sales by over 900% as a result of using this strategy I'm going to share.

It's simple but extremely POWERFUL.

I’m not sure how to explain that to you but let me tell you a quick short story.

A few years ago, a company called ReInvention Fitness wanted to go into the heavily crowded, highly competitive weight lost market, they did something superb.

The weight lost (or fitness market) is highly competitive.

If you’re not sure about what you’re doing, the big shark will swallow you.

So, what did ReInvention Fitness do?

They didn’t go into the market screaming…

‘we are the #1 fitness company. If you buy our product, you will instantly become fit’.

They already know that their competitors were doing exactly that.

So, what did they do?

They created a brand new program and named it…

Instead of saying ‘we will help you lose weight and gain a perfect shape that you’ll be so proud of your shape’, they said…

This singular act got them out from the rest crowd.

They got into that market and till today, they are constantly referenced.

So, while your competitions  are reacting, you are expanding your business because you had already articulated all your plans, and you're strategic.

let me say this,you may agree with all these business trends (& predictions), you may not agree. 

The most important thing you need to do is to ensure you take note of each of them.

Now, lets get to business, shall we?

#1: The Economy will crash

I know this will send cold shiver to the spine of a lot of people because for sometimes now,it’s not been easy with a lot of people.

The truth is, this may continue in 2019. The economy will suffer.

Currently (as at the time of writing this post), it is N367 to a $1 and it is even threatening to go higher.

I have listened to some of the best economists, and it thus appear that reprieve will not come in 2019, no matter who wins the next election.

I heard even the government is saying there should be more 'belt tightening'.


Well, although this may sound like a bad news to a lot of people but you don’t have to be scared because your competitors will be in ‘panic mode’ and you can leverage on that to grow your business.

Here’s what I mean…

When people are in ‘panic mode’ they do the WRONG thing but if you refuse to join them, you’d be able to expand your business despite the ‘crises'.

In 2016, at the heart of the economic recession, our company was able to help a company grow their business despite the recession.

We simply took advantage of the ‘panic button’ of their competitions and before you could say ‘jack, their sales exploded.

Most people make the horrible mistake of cutting down on marketing budget when there’s economic crisis, DON’T do that.

People are getting tired of Facebook these days. Many are deleting the Facebook app and others are blocking ads on Facebook.

#3: Sales Will Go down

Lets face it, in a ‘tough’ economy, the purchasing power of the people will naturally be ‘less’. People will tend to spend less because they have less.

They will buy what they ‘need’ and not what they ‘want’, and if you allow this to happen, your business may suffer.

Lets face it…

If a man purchasing power reduces and he usually  buys your fitness supplements, he will naturally stop buying it and instead focus more on buying ‘actual food’.

It beats my imagination while many small businesses don’t advertise.

Take a look at all the big brands in the world, they spend heavily on advertising.

Google, Facebook,Amazone,Apple, MTN, Cocacola, Pepsi and many others.

Truth is, the more you spend money on  advertising (profitably), the more you’ll grow faster, and if you don’t believe in advertising, it is safe to say you should forget growth.

Sure, there are some FREE advertising strategies that will help you grow in 2019 but if you really want something very BIG, you need to invest consistently in paid advert.

#5: Single Channels will no longer work.

If you are only using one channels to get customers now, you’ve got to wake up. You’ve got to start using multiple channels.

Facebook ads, twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google ads, etc.

You need to be everywhere for your brand to grow.  I have always said the best and quickest way to grow any business is by turning advertising into profit.

It’s a great thing that you need to do right now.

#6: The’ OLD’ Marketing System May stop working

Ya, it’s so true.

Many people pressure customers to buy their stuff. They pressure them, lie to them and do some sleazy things to make them buy.

That wont work in 2019.

You see, the purchasing power of people are very low now so they will want to be very careful with what they buy. They wont fall to ‘sweet mouth’ marketing, instead…

They will expect you to actually demonstrate that you can help them by actually helping them…

So, if you are the type that ‘shouts’ at your customers asking them to ‘buy my stuff’, they’ll run away. They need that ‘personal’ help.

Take doctors for example…

When you go to them, they prescribe drugs and treatment, and you eventually buy.

Doctors ask you simple question because they want to know what the problem is so they can help you. It is what I call ‘prescription marketing’.

#7: Online Advertising will exceed traditional Advertising

It is already happening right now in the United states. Digital adverting has exceeded traditional advert.

Things are changing very quickly.

In 2016, mediafact said that the total spend on advertising in Nigeria was 97billion naira and a large chuck of that went to traditional advertising but in 2019, there’s going to a be huge shit because…

People tend to spend more time online these days than they do offline.

 Most people don’t even watch the traditional TV anymore, they are doing Youtube,Facebook live, Netflix, Iroko and others.

So, you need to brace up  and know that online advertising will be HUGE.

Therefore, focus more of your budget on online marketing.

Now, let me add a bonus…

#8: America marketing tactics and strategies will not work

Lets face it, most people use the online marketing models of Americans to build their businesses but truth is, wholesale or what I can ‘copy and paste’ marketing will no longer work in 2019.

The buying habit of people is becoming more sophisticated and in 2019, it will get even more sophisticated because of 'low income'.

Generic 'one and the same' marketing tactics and strategies will no longer work, you've got to personalize things.

If you are the type who uses only what you see online to replicate your growth without customization, generic marketing wont work in 2019.

You’ve seen these predictions and you have these options…

#1: Just read it and go away without doing anything or worst still, just see them as mere prediction without any impact on you.

#2: Procrastinate and do nothing

#3: Be the ‘fast mover’ and transform your life and business, fast.
