We have not been adventuring out much due to several
reasons, mostly because we are both having issues with the altitude and other irritating issues.
Its been a terrible struggle just doing nothing in this
altitude but to top it off I did something to my heal, which may be Plantar
Fascia but for those who know us, we do not do doctors so this is a self-diagnosis
and is very painful but for
What a great time we had, but the
drive there and back had many downfalls. Idiot drivers passing when they should
not be or riding our butts even though we were doing a tad over the speed
limits. There were so many animals running across our path, more than we have
probably seen in total in the 15 years on the road, so many deer, several big
horn sheep, and other small animals passing right in
We had such a grand time, we didn’t want to come back, but
We both got off work at 2pm, in the heat of the day. No
worries up here, but it was in the 90’s once we got off the mountain and it was
hot! Just about a three-hour drive and a Walmart stop to get my haircut, we checked
into our hotel around 6pm. Whew, that makes for a long day. We just took the
night relaxing, showering
Hitch itch has a hold on ME, not even been a month and I am ready
to roam. We are just grateful that we like it here or else it would be a terrible
We are both comfortable with our positions and enjoy our
jobs. Jerry is doing light maintenance, mostly keeping up the hot tubs, and
doing some shuttling of rafters. I am working at the front desk, checking in
guests to the cabins.
Our first week has been lots of training and learning all sorts of new things. We have a
feeling we are going to have a great summer. IF, we stay out of the drama of some
of the other workers, not always easy but we have learned throughout our years
in this lifestyle to just have fun, no matter how others feel about what they
are doing. Because if we were that miserable, we would just have to
Again, this year we attempted to travel extensively, it did
not work out so we opted to take a summer job in Almont, Colorado, where we arrived today and are acclimating to our new altitude and getting over what might be head colds for both of us or maybe just allergies. We begin our training on Tuesday, here is our home site for the summer...
Our drive here was spectacular, the scenery
Montrose/Black Canyon NP KOA
200 N Cedar Avenue
Montrose, CO 81401
We paid $44.95 per night,
which of course is high but it was the closest to the things we needed to do for a water, electric & sewer site on gravel with a picnic table.
Customer service was fantastic.
The restrooms, laundry area and common areas were well manicured and clean.

They did not take any
discounts and the only other park in the area which took our Passport America
50% off was full so we opted to stay here. We paid $42.07 using our Good Sam 10% discount for an electric, water and sewer
on gravel with enough room for us to park our car behind with a picnic table.
