Over the weekend, I decided to take part in the Notfast 10k in Newark. I am currently marathon training and this was my first race since having pneumonia last year. The Notfast 10k is organised by Notfast Running Club and needless to say, I took the “Notfast” aspect very seriously indeed.     I had about 8 miles to do on the plan over the weekend and I opted for junior parkrun with Rose in Newark, followed by a quick drive over to Newark Rugby Club, the start and finish point of the race. This… View Post

A couple of weeks back, I had planned to visit Rother Valley parkrun so that I could make it onto the parkrun “most events” table. For the unaware, once you have run in 20 different UK venues, you make the board. Alas, I got up a bit too late to get there in time so a quick change of plan took me to Sherwood Pines parkrun instead.     Sherwood Pines parkrun is held in Sherwood Pines Forest Park, near Mansfield. I was excited to try it out as it is a one lap course… View Post

It was a busy weekend of parkrun last week. As well as taking Rose to Newark junior parkrun, I finally got the opportunity to visit Clumber Park parkrun. This was to be my second parkrun of the year, my 19th venue and my 58th parkrun.     Clumber Park is a stunning National Trust country park near Worksop in Nottinghamshire. We’ve visited a couple of times for a picnic and Rose often visits with her childminder, but this was to be my first time finally getting to run. We drove over, intending to stay for… View Post

Now Rose is four, I have been desperate to take her to junior parkrun. For those who are unaware, junior parkrun is the little sibling of parkrun. It’s held on Sunday mornings for those aged 4-14 and it’s a free, timed, 2km run. Rose loves running around at school and playing outside but she hasn’t really shown much interest in running until recently when she looked at me and asked if she could come out for a run with me. So off we went and Rose did her first mile. We went again the following… View Post

A few weeks back, I paid a visit to London to watch my friend Lindsay in the London Marathon. I haven’t done any parkruns this year, so I got the train at the crack of dawn to take advantage of some parkrun tourism, deciding to pay a visit to Finsbury. I arranged with Lindsay that I would meet her at King’s Cross and introduce her to her first parkrun outside Northern Ireland.     Finsbury parkrun is located in Finsbury Park and is extremely accessible on public transport. It’s just a short walk from Manor… View Post

Earlier today, I was horrified when I saw these Tweets pop up on my timeline: Seriously @sweatybetty who signed this off? I love your products, but I can't buy from you again if you think this is an appropriate way to present kids clothes. Bad enough that adult women are expected to be sexy whilst exercising but now kids too? pic.twitter.com/moDaDHfAY7 — Becca Johns ⚡️ (@thebeccajohns) May 14, 2018 Disappointed by this Lolita style photoshoot from @sweatybetty feels really overly sexualised, particularly the girl in the centre with her legs spread I normally love their… View Post

Ever been told to just Live A Little and try something different? I certainly have and sometimes I sit at my computer contemplating my life and the fact that I’ve never done anything really adrenaline inducing and out of my comfort zone. Occasionally, I wonder what it would be like to throw myself out of an aeroplane, but I never get much beyond thinking about it. A couple of months back, Red Letter Days dropped me a line to ask me if I wanted to take part in their #LiveALittle campaign. They wanted me to… View Post

Yesterday, I completed my Swimathon challenge. It wasn’t the 1500m distance as originally planned. You can read more about my anxieties in the water and my decision to drop the distance here.     I spent the weekend checking in on my fellow Ambassadors, all of whom inspired with their strength and determination, the challenge meaning different things for all of them. I had opted to take part in the “My Swimathon” challenge due to no pools near me taking part in the event and yesterday I took to the water, with the aim to… View Post

I like a gadget. Whilst I am only too aware of my dependency on tech, often to my detriment, I still can’t resist a gadget. I love the fact that it seems there is a piece of tech to do everything now. Except bread makers. I really like kneading dough, but I digress. I was recently sent a MISFIT Vapor Smartwatch for review. I had previously tested out the MISFIT Flash and hated it. It looked like a prison tag and didn’t work, so I never considered MISFIT products again. However, I was interested in… View Post

Post in collaboration with Groupon We all know how important it is to get a good sleep. We know we’ll feel more energised for a good night’s shut-eye, yet instead we depend on a pick up from Costa or an oh-so-delicious Nescafe instant to get us through the morning, having gone to bed too late, or simply not had good enough quality sleep. It’s easily done when you stay up finishing emails, checking Facebook, having a quick 5 minutes of Theme Hospital that turns into 5 hours (oh, that’s just me). When you’re active, it’s… View Post
