How to make 2019 your best year yet - Part 4 keep accountable - YouTube
This is the final part of my ‘how to create your best year yet’ series. Setting up systems up for accountability are essential for maintaining long term success. In this video I share my 2 favourite – and most successful – ways to keep yourself accountable and focused to achieving the lifestyle you want.
You have an idea of what you would like to accomplish/ change/ achieve in 2019 now it’s time to get clear on what you need to do to make it your best year yet. This exercise will help you identify what you need to prioritise, prompt you to identify your reasons for wanting to do this and help you start to set specific goals you can work towards during 2019.
Watch the video and use the worksheet to complete the exercise. You may want to print a copy of the worksheet for each of your ‘lifestyle categories’, please remember though, 1-3 goals is plenty!

Using the wellbeing wheel is a great tool to help you get started to creating a more satisfying and ultimately more enriching year ahead.
The wellbeing wheel is a self-reflection tool and helps you think about your life as a whole. For most of us we keep repeating the same goals over and over again (even if we succeed or not) and never feel completely satisfied with life. Use the wellbeing wheel to mix things up!
Use the scoring system 0-10 to mark how satisfied you are in each category within the wellbeing wheel.
0 being completely unsatisfied and 10 being extremely satisfied.
Join up the scores to create your own wellbeing wheel. (Most people have an odd looking shape so don’t see this as a bad thing!)
The main reason I suggest starting with the wellbeing wheel is it is a great to tool to help you make incremental steps over a period of time to increase levels of satisfaction – rather than focusing on one big goal to achieve. This approach is great as you relieve the pressure to perform and focus on what you can do on a daily/ weekly or monthly basis to make a positive difference to your life. You will not see big results in a short amount of time BUT you will feel more satisfied, in-control and empowered to keep working towards increasing your scores for the duration of the year.
Remember the focus is identifying what you can do now to increase your score by one point at a time, for example, if you score 6 out of 10 for physical activity, what one thing can you do on a consistent basis that will increase your score to 7 out of 10? Once you have mastered this write down one action that will increase the your score to 8 out of 10 and go and do this, continue to repeat the process.
I recommend you only choose to focus on 1-3 of the categories at a time to prevent overwhelm and spreading yourself to thin. Prioritise the categories of importance for the year ahead and use a 90 day wellness check-in. If you feel you need to switch your attention to another category after 90 days do that and prioritise the new categories for the following 90 days and so on.
You can also use the wellbeing wheel to identify bigger goals to focus on for the year ahead, see part 2 on the next steps.
Remember I am here to support you and would love to hear about the actions you are taking to make this year your best year yet! Send me an email or a photo of your filled in wellbeing wheel to email@example.com or get in touch via Instagram @heidi_jones_coaching
