Southern California to the Arctic Ocean, The Call of the North - Go North Ep. 1 - YouTube

Tom & Caitlin Morton of Mortons on the Move  aren't just going to Alaska, they're going to the Arctic Circle. Let that sink in. Many of us RVers have a trip to Alaska on their bucket list. I know I do. But where many end their journey at Denali National Park, their journey will take them to the shores of the Arctic Ocean in Tuktoyaktuk, Canada. Along the way, they make sure to travel throughout Western Canada's mountainous wilderness — something we all should consider when we take the trip to Alaska. With help from Lance Camper and several other RV companies, Tom & Cait are doing it right! Here's Episode 1; they already have four other episodes. And, since their trip will last into October, we all get plenty of opportunities o follow along on their "Go North" adventure.

Want a front-row view to the evolution of camping? Head to P.J. Hoffmaster State Park Saturday, June 8, for the annual Vintage Camper Gathering and Open House, which runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The park is at 6585 Lake Harbor Road in Muskegon, situated along three miles of Lake Michigan shoreline.
The Tin Can Tourists, a social group centered around the preservation and celebration of classic trailers and motor coaches, has been organizing this crowd favorite at Hoffmaster for the past 10 years. This year's event happens to coincide with the 100-year anniversaries of both the Tin Can Tourists and Michigan state parks.
Campers and day visitors are invited to walk the wooded campsites and get a firsthand look at nearly 100 trailers from the 1930s to the 1980s that will be on display.
"Whether you’re camping or just visiting for the day, everyone is welcome to see this wonderful array of vintage campers and trailers," said Melissa VanderVelde, unit supervisor at Hoffmaster State Park. "The event is different from a car show because the trailers are often available for visitors to take a peek inside and to talk to owners. It is a really fun experience."
Additional Tin Can Tourist events will take place at Interlochen State Park June 22 and Port Crescent State Park July 27.

Volunteer Martha Gruelle helps out with invasive species
plant removal at Belle Isle State Park (DNR photo)
Several state parks in southern Michigan will host volunteer stewardship workdays in June.
The workdays support the first PlayCleanGo Awareness Week, taking place June 1–8, with events across North America encouraging outdoor enthusiasts to take action to avoid spreading invasive plants and pests while enjoying the activities they love.
Volunteers are needed to remove garlic mustard, an invasive plant that threatens native habitats. Workdays are an enjoyable way to spend time outdoors getting to know Michigan’s state parks and their unique ecosystems.
“Garlic mustard is a good example of an invasive plant easily spread through outdoor activities,” said Heidi Frei, DNR natural resources steward. “The PlayCleanGo campaign is a simple reminder to clean shoes, clothing and gear before moving on to a new location. This can include brushing off mud, seeds and plant fragments and hosing down bikes and ORVs to ensure invasive species aren’t carried to the next destination.”
Workdays are scheduled for:
• Saturday, June 1: Highland Recreation Area (Oakland County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Saturday, June 1: Warren Dunes State Park (Berrien County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Saturday, June 1: Van Buren State Park (Van Buren County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Wednesday, June 5: Saugatuck Dunes State Park (Allegan County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Saturday, June 8: Bald Mountain Recreation Area (Oakland County), 9 a.m. to noon
• Saturday, June 8: Warren Dunes State Park (Berrien County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Saturday, June 15: Hoffmaster State Park (Muskegon County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Saturday, June 15: Warren Dunes State Park (Berrien County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Saturday, June 22: Ludington State Park (Mason County), 10 a.m. to noon.
• Saturday, June 22: Warren Dunes State Park (Berrien County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Saturday, June 22: Waterloo Recreation Area (Washtenaw County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Saturday, June 29: Highland Recreation Area (Oakland County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Saturday, June 29: Hoffmaster State Park (Muskegon County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Saturday, June 29: Warren Dunes State Park (Berrien County), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

To celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day, Mighway—The RV Rental Marketplace launched its "Zero Fees, 100 Trees" program, planting 100 trees and waiving service fees for every single booking now through the end of April.
The program expands Mighway's long-term commitment to sustainability and deepens its roots in the United States, said Mighway CEO Dave Simmons.
"We're always pushing ourselves towards more sustainable practices, from making our Mighway vans eco-friendlier, encouraging travel outside of the cities to support smaller communities and recommending renters stay longer at campgrounds and RV resorts, so they drive less and connect with nature more," Simmons said. "The 'Zero Fees, 100 Trees' program aims to raise the bar on not only our sustainability efforts, but also our customers. This gives them an easy way to do that while saving a lot of money."
Now through April 30, 2019, renters who book on Mighway, for travel through 2019, won't pay any service fees on Mighway.com, an innovative peer-to-peer RV rental platform. Once each booking is complete, Mighway donates money to volunteer organizations who in turn plant 100 trees.
The "Zero Fees, 100 Trees" program cannot be combined with any other offers.
About Mighway—The RV Rental Marketplace
Mighway—The RV Rental Marketplace is an innovative RV sharing platform, raising the bar in service and consumer protection, and connecting RV owners with travelers. While other RV sharing platforms serve more as booking engines, Mighway assists travelers throughout the road trip and often beyond. More than that, Mighway changes the game by offering the option to manage everything for owners as well. For more information, visit www.Mighway.com.
