It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a DIY, but I’ve been playing around with a few recipes recently – and, this is one of must-haves for inflamed, super-sensitive skin! So, I thought I’d share it.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see that recently – I’ve been on an absolute warpath to detox all the residual chemical crap that my body’s been holding on to from my last 5 surgeries (in the last 3 years). My body has been through a lot + I’m convinced… it’s coming out through my pores at this point… especially around my nose + my mouth. So, while I can’t make any claims, I’ll just leave this recipe right here for you to check out for yourself.
In the past few months, I’ve really relied on this mask a lot (sometimes several times a week!), + so, before I even finish a jar now – I’ve been making the next one so I don’t run out!
Manuka Honey – No matter what kind of mask I’m making, I pretty much always add Wedderspoon Manuka Honey. Manuka Honey is loaded with live, active enzymes that oxygenate your pores, help kill bacteria + reduce redness, + dark spots, as well as being a humectant. It also helps keep the masks pliable, + stops them from cracking. I personally prefer their KFactor 16, Monofloral Manuka, but really love any of their honeys if I’m being honest. Aside from that it’s… Raw + Unpasteurized, Non-GMO Verified, Free of any Antibiotics, Glyphosate + Pesticides, Traceable from Hive to Home, Produced + Packed in New Zealand. Get more info about Wedderspoon Manuka Honey here.
Apple Cider Vinegar – Another ingredient I often like to use, especially with my Clay Masks is… ACV. So, I was totally over the moon when I heard about Wedderspoon’s Raw, Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar with Manuka Honey! It helps smooth out the clay when mixing, but more importantly, helps balance your skin’s pH, also kills bacteria + reduces inflammation. In addition to using this in my masks, I’ve also used it as a tea when I’m not feeling well (2 Tbsps of ACV, 1 Tbsp of Manuka Honey, Dash of Ginger + Dash of Cinnamon), or I drink it in Warm Water first thing in the morning. FYI: You can also use it as a Facial Toner too, BTW, if you dilute it with water (50/50 mix).
Kaolin Clay – I love, love, love Kaolin Clay for making masks! It’s delicate + gentle for even the most sensitive skin, + because it’s a super-light, fine powder – it mixes really well into a smooth + creamy consistency almost every time.
Activated Charcoal – a must-have that I’ve been using in my daily routine, in one way or another for awhile now. It’s usually made from coconut shells + it’s porous texture attracts dirt, chemicals + toxins, draws them out.
Tea Tree Essential Oil – one of my favorite + one of the most useful essential oils, in my opinion. It has cleansing, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, + antifungal properties, + is especially useful for skin issues like acne.
Lavender Essential Oil – another one of my faves, especially when I really need help calming my skin, or reducing scars. It’s soothing, balancing, + I’ve found it works especially well in combination with Tea Tree Oil for acne or irritation.
Lemongrass Essential Oil – Lemongrass is sort of a new staple in my regimen, mainly for it’s purifying, anti-fungal + antibacterial properties. I’ve found this works well in combo with Tea Tree for me, when I have irritated skin.
I usually get almost all of my DIY Supplies from Amazon if I can.
I often save + clean out some of my old empty beauty jars to use for this purpose rather than buying something new. Just make sure it has a plastic lid so it doesn’t interact with the charge of the clay.
You can really use any combo you feel comfortable with of these essential oils. The only thing is that I feel that 3 drops (1 of each) is way too much essential oil for your face in one little bit of mask. So… play around with the combos + see what works best for your skin!
Also – if your skin is super-sensitive + dehydrated, you might want to try some water-based lotions / moisturizers as opposed to oil-based. I’ve found my skin is doing much betting since switching back over to lotions like the ones I mentioned above!
I’ve been on the hunt for an Organic Produce Delivery / CSA-type Box for awhile now, + this seems to be the only organic one that delivers to my area at the moment. I had previously tried a few others, but it seems as if they’re no longer in business since the Amazon / Whole Foods buyout, which is kinda sad.
In the past, I’ve found these of boxes really come in handy when I haven’t felt up to running out to the store, especially after surgeries, etc. – mainly, when I couldn’t push a full cart of groceries, or carry a lot of heavy grocery bags. And, since giving my body exactly what it needs to heal is extremely important to me, having options like this, right at my fingertips helps me MAKE SURE I don’t have any excuses NOT to eat healthy… even when I don’t feel like it! Lol.
While I definitely don’t rely on these all the time… I prefer to get my ass to the store instead, plus – these can really add up after awhile… I think they’re great thing to have from time to time – especially when you’re in a bind, or just want to switch it up + try things your local store may not have!
Medium Organic Only Produce Box
I got the Medium sized “Organic Only” Produce Box, which was $57.95. They also have other sizes, as well as conventional options (which area bit cheaper), + Red, Orange + Green only Juicing Boxes which I also thought was pretty cool!
Here’s what I received in the box…
1 bunch – Organic Kale
2 – Organic Cara Cara Oranges
1 bunch – Organic Rainbow Carrots
2 – Organic Yellow Squashes
2 – Organic Cucumbers
2 – Organic Kiwis
1 bunch – Organic Asparagus
2 bunches – Organic Green Beans
2 – Organic Apples
2 – Organic Tangerines
2 – Organic Pears
2 bunches – Organic Brussels Sprouts
My only complaint is that just about everything in the box came individually wrapped in tons of paper, with 4 Desi-Pak Natural Dehumidification Packs, 4 large Ice Packs, + then in a huge plastic bag. All of the paper was really soggy + damp, despite the dehumidification packs! And, honestly – I’d prefer nothing that’s damp to be wrapped in paper – to avoid any possible mold issues. I think the plastic bag would’ve been fine, + have received other orders like this without any issues.
Other than that – everything else was great! Definitely looking forward to lots of juicing, soups + salads with everything that came in the box!

Many of you know that I’ve worked with Unite For HER over the years as one of their Health + Beauty Advisors – but in 2015, with a 2nd Breast Cancer diagnosis, I had to take a step back (from both UFH + the Blog, etc.) to give myself the time I needed to heal.
During that time, I’ve been able to be a recipient of one of their Path to Healing Grants, as well as one of their Passport to Wellness Grants. These Grants help women like me, to get access to a year of Complementary Therapies, like – Medical Acupuncture, Professional Counseling, Sexual Health Counseling After Cancer, Oncology + Lymphatic Drainage Massage, Nutrition Counseling + Local CSA Shares, Healthy Beauty Consultations, Reiki, Yoga Classes, Fitness Memberships + more, ALL at no cost to us.
My mission, first + foremost on The Glamorganic Goddess has always been to help others going though the same things I was. In my experience as a young Cancer Survivor… there have always been very limited resources (both informationally + financially) for young women, going through Breast Cancer, especially those of us who’ve chosen a more integrative approach to healing. Nearly 10 years later, things are a little better, but this is one of the main reasons I had an instant connection with Unite for HER, right off the bat.
Unite for Her’s Mission
Unite for HER’s mission is to bridge the gap between the medical + wellness communities, by funding complementary therapies that support the physical + emotional needs of those diagnosed with Breast Cancer, during + after Treatment. They educate Survivors, Pre-vivors + the community about how healthy lifestyle choices can prevent disease, + impact wellness through their website + their many outreach programs.
When people ask me where or how they can Donate to help Breast Cancer Survivors, one of the first things I tell them is to check the organization’s financials. And, you can do that for UFH here. I think this is so important to do with any charity really, because, like many of you – I’ve also done countless walks, + various sales, etc. to raise money for “Awareness”, but quickly realized when I was going through it… that often times it doesn’t get to the right places… especially with many of the larger “Pink Ribbon” organizations. A great clue into this is the movie “Pink Ribbons Inc.” We don’t need anymore brocheures + pamphlets… we need REAL help, that will lead us down a path of SurThriving!
Her Care Boxes
Unite for HER’s Limited Edition HER Care Boxes – feature a range of self-care items, carefully curated by UFH’s Medical + Wellness Advisors to promote healing, that will empower HER emotional + physical well-being during Breast Cancer Treatment, + far beyond.
100% of the proceeds will benefit Unite for HER’s mission to fully-fund + deliver Complementary Therapies to Newly-Diagnosed Women, supporting the physical + emotional wellness of Breast Cancer patients.

As I’ve mentioned in some of my previous posts, I’m a huge fan of NOW Foods, mainly for their affordability + accessibility – so, I actually use their products pretty regularly. Here are some of my most recent NOW health + beauty product picks!
BetterStevia Organic Extract Powder – Over the years, I’ve tried various brands of Stevia + I almost always come back to this one! It’s pretty much a staple for me. The price is great, it’s organic, it’s easy to find, + easy to use. The only thing is, it can sometimes be a little too easy to over-use with the larger holes in the lid… if I could change one thing, it would be to make them smaller so it doesn’t spill out so much! Stevia is something I use multiple times a day, in most of my drinks… Lemon Water, Fruit Waters, Hot + Iced Teas, with my Teeccino (instead of coffee, because it’s prebiotic + better for my adrenals), Smoothies (if the fruit isn’t sweet enough), Puddings, Overnight Oats, Homemade Popsicles, etc. You name it. The only thing I can’t do it in is… Coffee (it doesn’t matter what brand of Coffee or Stevia… it’s bitter to me). So, I usually use either Organic Organic Coconut Sugar, or Manuka Honey in that. I generally buy a 4 oz. container + refill my 1 oz. container because it just fits better in my cabinet, + always have the little BetterStevia Organic Packets in my purse incase I need them when I’m out + about. Definitely a must-have!
Magnesium Flakes – I love, love, love baths – especially salt baths of any kind! They’ve given me a ton of pain relief after so many surgeries, etc. So, it’s no surprise that I was immediately drawn to these Magnesium Chloride Bath Flakes. They’re 100% Pure, from the ancient Zechstein seabed in the Netherlands – one of the world’s purest remaining subterranean mineral sources. And, if you like Epson Salt Baths… these are like those… but on steroids! While I still love regular Epsom Salts, I go back + forth by either adding a cupful of these to those baths, or just using these on their own. No real rhyme or reason for me other than the fact there there were months when I was taking at least one Epsom Salt Bath a day… and using these like that can get a little pricey at that rate. Let’s be clear though… if I had a steady supply of these… I’d chose these over those any day though – no doubt about it! Haha. One cup contains about 19 grams of elemental magnesium, + you can even use them for foots baths if you can’t get in the tub, or don’t have that kind of time. Love, love, love! Definitely one of my FAVE products from NOW!
Nature’s Shield Essential Oil Blend – Made with steam-distilled Clove Bud, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus + Rosemary oils, Nature’s Shield is blended for aromatherapeutic use, but can be used for a variety of other purposes. In the last few years, I’ve been on the hunt for somewhat of a “Theives”-type dupe, + guess what? This is a FAB alternative! Word to the wise though… always, always, always dilute your essential oils with a carrier oil before doing almost anything with it (like, applying it to your body, etc.) other than diffusing. This is incredibly powerful (like most essential oils) + can burn your skin if you’re not careful. I recently made a body oil with it + apparently didn’t dilute it enough… it definitely stung for a little while afterwards. Easy fix though… I just added more of my carrier oil to it + it was totally fine. So far, in addition to making a body oil with it, I’ve also added this to my diffuser, to my facial steams, baths, etc. + plan to try it in some DIY cleaning recipes soon too. Excellent blend to have on hand for when you’re not feeling well, BTW!
Probiotic-10 100 Billion Capsules – I’ve used some of the most expensive probiotics you can find, + have found that these are a really nice product to alternate the more expensive ones with. They say that you should give your body a break, + alternate your probiotics from time to time, or if your feel they’re no longer working. Switching it up gives your body a chance to get various strains. Highly recommend for anyone dealing with chronic illness. I’ve also gotten some other family members hooked on these too, who also swear by them! FYI: these also come in lower doses as well. Beauty Tip: pop one of these capsules open + mix with water for a quick, probiotic Facial Mask!
Charcoal Detox Gel Cleanser – Ok, so initially I didn’t want to use this facial cleanser because of the preservatives in it (that I mentioned in this post). However, as of late – I’ve found I’d rather use something with an ingredient or two that I’m not crazy about, than scrubbing + rubbing my eyes vigorously to get every last bit of my makeup off. To my surprise, this works pretty well. I was shocked that there wasn’t much rubbing other than right along my lash line to get my liquid eyeliner + mascara off. One little trick I’ve found helpful is to add a few drops of Organic Jojoba Oil to help with break down my makeup. I add it right into the cleanser in my hand, along with a few drops of water, + mix before applying (this makes it a little creamy). If you’ve read my past posts, I can’t do a makeup-removing oils straight up… they bother my eyes way too much… so, this is the best of both worlds for me. I usually use about 3 drops of oil to a dime-sized dollop of cleanser + wipe away with a damp washcloth. Definitely an excellent Budget Beauty Buy! Only downside, is it can be a little bit drying. So, this cleanser is probably perfect for those with oil / combo skin.

I’ve been using PRITI NYC Nail Polishes for years. Literally, since I made the switch over to better beauty products, back in 2010. In my day-to-day life, I do a lot of prepping, cooking, juicing, detox baths, etc. so my hands are always in a lot of water, but – I find their polishes to be really durable. I love the texture + consistency of this formula – it’s just thick enough, allowing for a perfectly smooth application, + a glossy finish. When I buy new nail polish, one thing that’s always important to me in terms of application is the brush length + width (huge pet-peeve, BTW!), + this one’s just right – allowing me to cover each nail in about 2-3 brush-strokes. What I love most about this though, is that it’s by far… the most chip-resistant clear / base / top coat I’ve used yet, unlike so many of the other -free brands. Meaning… my mani’s last for almost a good 2 weeks when using this! Cha-Ching! Who doesn’t love a product that makes their lives easier, right? I also tend to wear a lot of dark colors – mainly burgundies, reds + hot pinks, + find that this forms a really nice barrier to protect my nails from stains that colors like that can leave, where some of the other -free brands have been a little on the thin side in comparison. Plus, it’s also got a UV inhibitor in it too, incase that’s important to you. One thing I wanted to mention though was that I was always (+ still am) a huge, die-hard fan of PRITI’s Speedy-Dry Top Coat, but I find that this makes my mani’s lasts a little longer than that does… so, just know that if you’re interested in both products. I haven’t tried the Gel Like Top Coat yet, but it’s next up on my list to try, for sure! Definitely, definitely, definitely a must-have + will be a re-purchase for me.

Their aim is to create a high-performing product line that uses only the earth’s purest ingredients, + so that they can bring the benefits + traditions of island life to the whole entire family. And their objective is to never compromise the quality, performance or cleanliness of their ingredients.
Organic Fiji was born after its founder first fell in love with the simplicity of island life. While traveling in Fiji, he noticed how the locals all had beautiful, healthy, glowing skin. Their secret was coconut oil. Not the artificial or bleached coconut oil he’d seen before, but certified organic, cold pressed, extra virgin coconut oil. He learned from the locals how they used it in all aspects of their daily routines – in beauty, personal care, family health, cooking + more. Read more about their story here.
Organic Fiji’s coconut oil comes from a socially responsible private reserve plantation that’s 130 years old + is tucked away in the volcanic mountains – overlooking the waves of the South Pacific. Their coconuts are grown on rich, high altitude soil, offering pure nutrients from perfect weather conditions + are hand-harvested. The coconut oil is then extracted using a cold-pressed method, locking in it’s molecular structure to produce certified organic coconut oil. Many other companies use a heat extraction method because it’s a lot cheaper + produces more oil – but it destroys many of it’s unique benefits in the process.
Their plantation also provides energy for the property + the surrounding community by burning the discarded coconut husks. It operates under fair trade rules, selling coconut oil at market price, + offering fair wages to all its employees. In addition, each working family also receives an acre of land to grow their own food on. How cool is that?!
Their coconut oil is totally raw, unrefined + extra virgin, giving you all the first-pressed goodness without any bleaching or altering. Organic Fiji has been certified USDA organic (for over 11 years now, making them highly experienced in the clean living movement) by one of the most highly respected certifying agents – Oregon Tilth. This certifying agency looks at all products + ingredients with a highly regimented food standard, which means that personal care items don’t get any special treatment or conditions for passing. In addition, their nutritional oil is certified Kosher by Star-K, + is Bestowed Certified as a clean + allergy friendly.
Organic Fiji’s products are vegan, cruelty-free, gluten free, biodegradable, wilderness, marine, + reef safe. This ensures that whenever you’re on an adventure in nature’s playground, the products you put on your skin will not negatively affect the ecology + wildlife around you. The brand stands firmly against animal testing, with the exception of letting their pups taste-test the quality of the nutritional coconut oil (which they highly recommend for pet nutrition + grooming!)
Organic Fiji believes the earth offers us a natural apothecary to use, enjoy + heal from, so they don’t use any toxic or harmful ingredients including (but not limited to): GMOs, PEGs, parabens, phenothyethonol, phylates, sulfates, artificial colours, fragrances, + flavors, animal byproducts, or any other synthetic elements. They also encourage their customers to be conscious of the products they use, as well as where those products come from, + where they’ll go after disposal. Get more deets about their ingredients here.
Organic Fiji is extremely dedicated to having an eco friendly production + shipping cycle. They use the highest quality BPA-free containers, which are recyclable after use, + they avoid adding any unnecessary, additional packaging – such as outer boxes to keep materials to a minimum.
