THE LAST 5 MONTHS: A MAJOR LIFE UPDATE

I hate that I keep doing this. Leaving my blog. I don’t want to use working as an excuse but honestly, working sucks. It takes too much of my personal time that I just use rest days for well.. rest.

But I realized, I keep making the same excuses when I shouldn’t. If I can work my ass of for a company that I don’t own… I should work harder for myself and make time to do the things I really love about.

So… here I am again. I hope this time, it will be different. Here’s what you’ve missed while I was gone.

JANUARY

  • BAGUIO  - First site of the year. Again, just little perks of the job. Since it wasn’t by air, I decided to bring Just along with me. We spent two days in Baguio and we had an absolute blast. Of course number one reason would be the cold weather and second is that we can easily explore the city - we can just walk or ride a taxi. I even got to try the Ukay Night Market this time! Needless to say, I am gonna blog about this!
  • SAGADA - Ya know me, always tryna squeeze in what I can. Even though Sagada was 6 hours away from Baguio, we knew we had to go there. It was one of our bucket list and even though the ride was stomach churning, it was all worth it when we got to this beautiful place.

FEBRUARY

  • TEAM BUILDING AT CANYON WOODS - got a bit unlucky this year since previously the had the team building at Canyon Cove which had a beach. But still glad I got to be in cold places on the early months of the year! I am fully taking advantage of the wearing jackets haha.
  • JUST GOT ME A PUPPY! - Meet potato, my chow chow. There’s a long story how I got this puppy and I can’t freaking wait to share it.
  • QUICK SITE AT CAUAYAN, ISABELA - Just a regular site up north. It was one of my most tiring because I wasn’t able to explore anywhere, the hotel had a half day brown out and I just miss my puppy back home. Still thankful for these views though and Getgo points ;-)

MARCH

  • DAVAO AND SAMAL ISLAND - I had three sites to cover that trip (we’re only allowed 2 days for provincial site visit) and my goal was to finish it in just one day which I did. It was soooo tiring but I had to do it because I used my second day to go to Samal Island. All I can say is, this now one of my favourite islands EVER. So much beauty, so much to explore in a single island. It’s like Camiguin which is also one of my favourite island.
  • BUCHI’S FIRST BIRTHDAY - Gosh, I can’t believe it’s been a year already. Sephy’s grown so big and so tall! My parents also came home for this celebration.

APRIL

  • FAMILY OUTING AT ROXAS AND BORACAY - My mom and dad both have Mabuhay Miles from PAL and since it’s been a while since we had a getaway, they decided to use it and book us a ticket as well and we chose Roxas because it’s my mother’s side Province. The initial plan was to go Ilo Ilo because it’s around 2-3 hours away but due to the amount of tourist there (all fully booked) we detoured and went to Boracay instead since Roxas was in the middle of Aklan and Ilo Ilo. 3rd time’s a charm I guess and we got the chance to visit it before it’s temporary closure.

MAY

  • GETTING SICK BEFORE TURNING 23 - I had planned a 3d2n getaway for Just and I since we didn’t get to celebrate my birthday together last year but a week before, I had very high ever, I was vomiting and feeling very weak so I no choice but to cancel it. I had to go to ER and had IV put in because I wasn’t getting better. I even had 5 days off of work because of it. But I am well now, thank God! I believe health is more important than anything else. And thankfully, I can just reschedule the trip. Also, I’m 23!!!!

Writing & sharing is such a therapy for me. I love having and outlet for my experiences and emotions since I am not a big sharer on social media on things that are currently happening in my life. But here in Tumblr, it all just comes out naturally and I feel light when I blog. I’m eager to share more here, so I guess I’ll see you?

This Is What I Wore: First Day of the Year

I’m using this new year as a clean slate for all my past & future outfits. I’m ditching the numbering because it’s too damn hard to keep up! Most times the dates overlap or I forgot to post which makes it hard to pin point which ones came first… so no more, enough of the confusion.

Anyway, this is the first outfit of 2018. As tradition, we spent it at our grandma’s house in Bulacan. Which means we get to spend some of our time in our secret place - by the lake. It’s still feels so nice to visit here every year, it’s peaceful & it’s breathtaking. To blend in the scenery, I wore earthly colors. Then matched it with this cute vintage bag that was a gift from Just for my 17th birthday (5 years ago!) and will always, always have a special space in my heart. It’s one of a kind - I haven’t seen this bag anywhere else!

Top&Shorts: Thrifted for P35 each
Sandals: Marikina Flats - P150
Bag: Vintage Leather (gift from Just) - P600

Hi! I don’t boil the clothes & I wash it like normal, the only different thing I do is have a seperate batch for NEWLY thrifted items. We compile thrifted clothes per week/per month and wash it all together, separate from our normal clothes. Once it’s been washed - it’s now considered normal clothes already. :-)

4 MONTHS IN 9 PHOTOS

It’s been a while hasn’t it? Damn, I’ve missed this. Writing, sharing and reading post about everyone’s lives, likes & love. I’m back with another life update just to let you catch up on what’s been happening with my life. Shall we begin?

JULY

July was pretty much uneventful. I spent most of my time either at the office, having self control to save up for our upcoming trip next month or just taking care of Seph who was 4 months at that time. He is just a ball of sunshine, it’s nice coming home and playing with him, hearing his cute laugh after a stressful day at work.

AUGUST

August will always be one of my favorite month. It was a crazy month for me. For our 9th anniversay, we spent 6 days at Conde Naste’s top island - Boracay which was the destination of our piso fare. White fine sand and the clearest waters with the love of my life, what more could i ask for? (maybe less expensive food!) Not only that but we were also able to visit a nearby island called Carabao Island which is already part of Romblon. 6 days wasn’t nearly enough for the trip. I wanted to stay longer.

We had a night flight going back to Manila and the next day I went straight to the office. I was a bit tired and I felt my body wasn’t able to take it which  resulted in me being sick. I was already absent for a week that time and took another 5 days off to recuperate. It was one of the worst feelings ever.

SEPTEMBER

The celebration (&expenses) never stopped there because September is Just’s birthday. For his day we spent it at an Airbnb in Makati – we swam in the pool the next morning and stopped by Little Tokyo. I absolutely loved airbnb’s, this is our second time already and it sucks that they had to suspend my account for a minor reason & misunderstanding. This really pisses me off because I plan to book airbnb for my future travels and now I’m banned for life.

September was also the month I went to my first legit site visit. Remember back in March when I went with my officemate to a site in Matalno St? Well this time I went to Nasugbu all by myself. I arrived by lunch and measured the site, I was finished within 30 minutes and I knew there was a beach nearby (this was our pick up point to Fortune last March) and I stopped by. Of course I bought a swimsuit. To be frank, I like traveling alone and this experience just gave me more reasons to enjoy it. (Separate post about this again!)

We’ve also been binging on Korean food! I’ve spread my addiction to my boyfriend Just and now he can’get enough. I think we ate Korean food for three straight days that time!

OCTOBER

October was a low key month for me. Just was away at Ilocos for 2 weeks which I envied a little because they were exploring the city without me. I wish I was there with him. But it was kinda okay since I focused on myself a little bit – like (1) I GOT MY LAPTOP REPAIRED WITH MY OWN MONEY! Which is why I’m back & blogging again. (2) I’ve been spending so much time with my officemate/friend Meann – and she is the bomb. I love her so much. I’m glad I have someone to be crazy with at the office.

Also, if you’re wondering what my view at the office looks like everday, it’s the last photo! AUTOCAD is life. Well I also get a glimpse of the ocean everyday since it’s the view from the boss’ office.

Of course, there are thrift trips in between but it’s been less since I go home so late already and all thrift stores are closed. There’s so much that I want to talk about and share, I hope you’re ready!!

LIFE UPDATE: MY JOVIAL JUNE!

My blog has been a series of life updates and I’m sorry. For one, my laptop gave up on me but I have a spare one that I share with my sister. You’ll know reason two when you read ahead:

BEACH #3 - MASASA IN TINGLOY, BATANGAS

For my birthday celebration, my cousin & I (Just unfortunately had work) headed to Tingloy for some vitamin sea. I was already unemployed so I had the privilege to schedule the trip on a weekday. That means lesser people which I was aiming for. And my oh my, Tingloy didn’t disappoint. I can say that it’s one of the best places I’ve been in Luzon. Can’t wait to blog all about it (after Fortune Island & San Antonio Zambales of course.)

BATANGAS ROAD TRIP STOP#2 - TAAL

Well, I also strategically planned my trip so that I get to discover more places in one city. Taal is a Heritage town which means a lot of old, vintage and historical houses - which fascinates me and peaks my interest. My homestay owner from Masasa beach was kind enough to help me make my way there from Mabini since I was going alone. No need to google for directions!

SURPRISING MY BOYFRIEND IN TAAL!

You see, I did really strategically planned out my trip. My boyfriend was at work in Taal, shooting for the movie Goyo. I chose Tingloy near Mabini because of the close proximity to where he is. Which was the gateway for my surprise visit since we haven’t seen each other for 2 weeks. I loved the look on his face when I was at their doorstep. He was asking if it was all just a dream that I was right in front of him.

BEACH#4 - STOPOVER IN LEMERY

Looking at the map of Batangas, you’ll see most of it are on the edge, meaning there’s a lot of beaches. I’ve been to a lot of places in Batangas but I found out then that’s THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO SEE there. I MEAN SO MUCH MORE. I plan to visit every beach in Batangas.

Here is my first step/stop. Next city after Taal was Lemery and even though I did my research I was still cluleless on how to get to the beach. Good things locals were helpful and I made it there because again… I went alone. Traveling alone isn’t really much of a big deal to me. Sure I’d want to experience it with Just but I am okay with just being myself. I discover a lot about me when I’m alone.

REUNITING WITH MY LONG TIME FRIEND, PATRING

If you’ve been here since Day 1 of my tumblr then you’ll know who she is. She’s been my friend since I was in high school and she used to have a tumblr too! We rarely get to see each other but our connection never fades. I’m glad to say that I can call my woman crush in life my friend too. Check Patring & her adventures out!! @tanpatricia_ on Instagram!

UNEMPLOYED BUT WE WON A COMPETITION

I told you I was unemployed right? But I needed to do something at Watsons so I stopped by the office and by chance they were taking a group photo and guess what, the timing was right and I was included! After a week, we found out that our photo won haha!! So much for being at the right time, at the right place. I love my department so much.

JUST IS AWAY, AGAIN / STAYCATION

I can’t say we’re on a LDR… but currently due to our his work schedule we don’t see each other for weeks. He’s always on location and that’s not in the metro but in the province. Before he was in Batangas and now he is in Tarlac. He was supposed to be there for a month but luckily they were allowed to go home… for 2 days! So on a whim we decided to have a staycation. With the help of Patring, we were able to book an Airbnb on the last minute. This was taken at 43rd floor of the building! And was a jeep away from my work since…

I’M EMPLOYED AGAAAAAIN!!!

Exactly after a month, I’m back to working for the same company! This time, I got a little bit of promotion, from assistant to supervisor! I can’t fully say I’m happy about it since I have doubts whether I deserve it but I’ll do my best to live up to my own expectations of my job requirements. The best part of it all is that I have the best workmates.

I’ll have to get my laptop fixed before I can create new posts. Too sad about that but that’s just how it is. I still have so much to post (Cagayan, Baler, Maniwaya, Fortune Island, Zambales, Batangas) and I’m so excited to share them all with you! For now, check out my instagram as I’ll be more active there. I promise. @gerimagsakay!

VINTAGE THRIFT HAUL

My eyes always lit up whenever I find these kind of treasures in a thrift store. At times I get tired of finding the same things so I try to look for different, unusual things. I end up with looking for vintage items. Currently these are my gems and soon enough I know it will multiply. I’m starting to look for other pieces like furniture and decorations to add to my collection. I can’t stress enough my love for vintage things.

World Map Bags (P50 & P100)
Denim Jacket (P35)
Eyeglasses (P35!!)
Embroidered pouches (P50 & P35) Suede Pouch & Ma Beaute Pouch (P35 each)
Sun Tote Bag (P35)
Sandals (P50 & P80)

Too bummed that summer is over!! I spent most of my summer working at the office but I managed to squeeze in a few beach trips… four to be specific & in just 3 months! There are a few things that made my beach trips so much better and I’m here to share it in hopes that it might be helpful for your next vacation!

This is such a good investment, was useful during our island hopping to places which didn’t have any source of potable water like Fortune Island & Anawangin Cove. Here are reasons why you need it:

  • Keeps liquid cold (or hot!) for a LOOONG period of time. I’ll put emphasis on that. Perfect for hot summer afternoon when you need a refreshing drink.
  • Not only storage for water but also for ice! This was a technique we used to keep our drinks cool. We just bought a separate containter for water.
  • It doesn’t spill!!! It’s sealed shut and you don’t have to worry getting your bags wet. I had worse experience with previous tumblrs and got important documents wet. My current tumblr’s brand is LOCK&LOCK. The same brand I also use for my lunch box - which is also spill-free even with all the sabaaaws.

I also use this at work & Just also got one for himself (check it out on his instagram @justvallejo - he has a cool one!).

If you remember, I used a (big) pouch as my waterproof case for my iPhone. It’s quite handy in the pool but on the beach - it’s another story. It gets really moist and doesn’t any clear photos at all. And since the pouch is larger than my phone - the buttons are harder to use. So I decided I needed an upgrade and luckily this was on sale. From P450, I got it for P360 from CARLVILLACERAN on Shopee, it was also P650 in Divisoria!

So far, I love that I can bring it on the beach and on boat rides, it’s splash proof & can be submerged underwater. I can use all features, call, text, take photos & videos - even the fingerprint security! It’s back camera is great, front cam - not so much. Overall, it’s a great buy considering the fit of the case on my phone and comes with phone strap!

I find sachets so hassle during trips so I got myself these plastic bottles for my essentials and a pouch to put them in. I had SO MUCH JOY buying specific bottle type for every kind of liquid. Most of these I got at SM Department Store & Landmark for less than P40 and the soap box from Watsons!

And the sandals addiction continues! I highly trust Marikina Made Sandals not only for it strength and durability but also because it’s stylish and comfortable. I can wear it to the beach with no worries of it getting broken. This is already my 5th buy and I have no regrets. Belive it or not I got them for just P85 each, just check MOCHISFASHION store on Shopee - I highly recommend them!

I have a great love for this beach mat! It was just a random find from our linen storage and since then it’s become one of my beach essentials.

First of all - I love the print & fringed edges, just takes the beach/boho levels a tad higher. Next is that it’s very very lightweight, I don’t have any problems with packing it. And lastly - it doubles as a blanket. It’s very helpful during cold nights - or even cold rides.

Non-stop, that’s my answer if you ask me how many times I listen to it. You don’t know how glad I am that they are back. They’ve been through a lot and I’m proud of them for not giving up and still making music. Will forever be a fan! Here are some of my favorite songs & lyrics (& why I like it)  from the album:

Rose Colored Boy:

Just let me cry a little bit longer,
I ain’t gon’ smile if I don’t want to.
Hey man we all can’t be like you.
I wish we were all those colors too.

One of the hardest challenges in life is being positive. There are moments that makes you wan’t to really give up all what you believe in and dwell in the negativity. I have those days. I have times when I continuously forget all my blessings and all the good things. It just.. happens.

Fake Happy

I love making you believe what you get is what you see
But I’m so fake happy. I feel so fake happy.

I do, a lot of times feel like I need to be happy when I’m really not and this song not only tells the truth about it - but also helps me embrace the fact that I don’t need to be happy when I’m not.

Caught in the Middle

Can’t look back, can’t look to far ahead.
Got the point, got the message.
I’m just caught in the middle.
I try to keep going but it’s not that simple.

If there’s a song that can ACCURATELY describe what’s going on with my life, this has to be it. I constantly have thoughts if I should keep going or I should give up. But then again, my choice at the end of the day is to keep fighting.

Lastly, my small haul from Bloggers United! I included these ones because they are still summer related. The straw hat was from Lissa Kahayon - I found out it was Forever 21 when I got home and was just 100 pesos. I bought from her from the previous BU and she always sell cheap but quality items. Then I got these cute brown shades, one round shape and d-shaped. We actually got 3 for P250, my sister’s choice was a heart shaped sunglasses. She told me it was  Lana Del Rey inspired.

That’s it. Summer was way fun this year. I definitely made the most out of it! I can’t wait for next year. Now back to work!!
