Welcome to  Title Tuesday, my favorite day of the week! This day is dedicated to book suggestions, news, cartoons, and reviews. I write this portion of my blog because I am a big believer in the motivational speaker Charlie Jones' quote which says, "You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read.” I try to meet as many new people as possible and to read everything I can. This is my way of sharing that information with you. You can see a visual summary of the books I have reviewed for both adults and children over on my Facebook page. If you are interested in understanding my rating system for books you can read my Book Review Explanation here and What I Believe here. If you want to check out what I am currently reading or what I want to read next, friend me on Goodreads!

Today's Title Tuesday is super special!

Christian Audio is a free app (IOS and Android friendly) that allows you to listen to Christian audio-books. I love this company because it gives out a free audio-book once a month.

But, right now Christian Audio is having their twice a year sale which means that almost all books on the website are available for just $7.49!

I won't lie, I bought several that i just can't wait to review on Title Tuesday in the coming weeks and months including:

The Jesus Storybook Bible
The Screwtape Letters
Liturgy of the Ordinary
Adopted for Life

...and many more!

I had to share this because reading can be an expensive pastime if you aren't careful, so I am always on the lookout for a good deal. This deal will be going on until Saturday so be sure to check it out and stock up on great audio-books for your summer road trips!

Welcome to another Military Monday!

Upon marrying a military man I learned that there is a LOT to know about life as a military spouse. Mondays are my day to talk about the things I am learning, the new language, military news and current events. Sometimes I post encouraging videos, stories, and cartoons as well.

I am a big believer in knowing what the Bible says for yourself. When I first became a Christian I was afraid to say much of anything about the Bible. I hated talking about my time reading the Bible because I just didn't think that I was qualified to interpret the Bible for myself. In fact, even when I did have something that stood out to me from my reading or that made me think twice I always gave the credit to someone else, just in case I was wrong.

Then I came across this book.

Christmas of 2014 my husband gave me a copy of Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin and I was never the same.

Jen's writing revolutionized the way I think of Bible study for women. She takes to time to explain that she went through season of doubt in her knowledge of the Bible and that it came from a sort of backwards approach to studying the Word of God. Jen's focus on intentionally studying the Bible to prepare you to use it made me stronger in my approach to teaching the Word in my small group and ladies' bible study.

Jen focused on how women study the Bible more emotionally and less intellectually. She points out that many people are not actually Bible literate despite having been in the church for years. She takes the reader through five steps to become Bible literate and even takes a few pages to show how she marks her Bible. Her focus on training your mind to love Jesus and the Word of God rather than just relying on warm and fuzzy feelings made sense to me and it helped me to be bold in my faith

All in all I have to give Women of the Word a solid A+ and then some. If you feel like you aren't getting much out of your time in the Word or your Bible study feels routine I would strongly suggest taking a look at this book. I would also recommend it for anyone that does regular discipleship with brand new believers. Taking them through this book could help them to avoid spending years of their Christian walk wandering rather than focused on His Word.

I am finally back up and running after having our sweet baby girl. Miss K is officially 9 weeks old and is sweet as can be. I am loving getting to know her and her fabulous little quirks. We were in the hospital after she was born for FOUR WHOLE DAYS. It truly felt like forever since I was hardly in the hospital for two days after each of the boys. I used the time well however because I spent the entire time either nursing Miss K or reading. I finished 6 books while we were waiting to get to go home so I am gong to share those with y'all in the weeks to come.

The first book that I want to share is an older one, but still very relevant. Nurture by Nature by Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron-Tieger was recommended to me by a friend because I was having a hard time jiving with one of my boys. After determining each of our personality types I can confirm that we are all VERY different! Nurture by Nature helped me to understand why.

Tieger and Barron-Tieger do an excellent job of making the Myers-Briggs personality profiles simple and straightforward.

There are two parts to this book.

Part one explains each of the 8 personality traits (I or E, S or N,  F or T,  J or P) and how people typically express them.

In part two of the book the authors take the reader o an in-depth tour of each of the possible combinations of personalities (there are 16 possibilities total).

With real life stories, anecdotes and advice Nurture by Nature helps the adult reader understand how best to relate to a child based off of their innate personality and uniqueness. Their tips and tricks help to clarify what to do if the child's personality is different from the reader's personality. This could potentially vastly improve family dynamics if parents and children could learn to relate to each other well despite personality differences.

All in all I have to say that Nurture by Nature is a must have book for anyone that works with children regularly whether at home or in a professional setting. I give it a solid A+ and strongly encourage you to pick up a copy. This is a book that I would recommend buying rather than borrowing so that you can mark in the pages, take notes, and refer back to it often.
