Two dummies (Adam and Blake) discuss the toylife but it's mostly jokes because we're not competent at real collecting or serious podcasting. It's for the people who have toy addiction but in a sarcastic way.
AUX podcast network presents:
We’re back with some of your favorite segments! Listener questions from the Shelf Life Mailbag, answered! Kustomizer’s Korner! Marvel Legends rearranging! Shelf Life CONFESSIONS! Walmart Binary Captain Marvel! Do our toys come to life?! ENDGAME SPOILERS! Box o’ Trash Toys! When is the right time to tell your significant other that you collect?! Children in the toy aisles–you hate to see it, folks!
Blake is back from vacation with an Extreme Power Pharaoh Warrior (classic toy) which was apparently meant to battle the devil. We’re also talkin’ new X-Men Marvel Legends waves and Mondo Exclusive TMNT figures. Plus, a discussion of our toy GRAILS. What is a grail and what isn’t? (Muppets and Super Powers Batman are totally grails). Special guest Jessica joins us once again to talk McDonald’s toy nostalgia, because everyone needs a nugget friend. She also plays a new game with us called DITCH OR DISPLAY and it’s an instant Shelf Life hit. Basically, we’re Marie Kondo-ing our figures, and you won’t believe what DOESN’T spark joy.
BOTH Arnett brothers join us this time, including new guest and GI Joe fanatic Jon, as we delve into the most iconic plastic army men of the Reagan era. We wonder–and expert Jon helps us unpack–why doesn’t anyone like GI Joe anymore? EVEN MORE of the Arnett family history is revisited, as it is so inextricably tied up in GI Joe nostalgia. We go beyond just Joe talk too, and broach cerebral topics like the psychology of our collecting addictions, and the dark nature of capitalism itself. But don’t worry, we spend plenty of time talking about Chuckles! Jon recounts the glory days of the insane folks on the GI Joe forums in great detail. Then there is some…disagreement between Jon and Blake about Batman and Tom King. Had to shut that shit down.
Music: More Of That (new album out now on your favorite streaming services!)
NO THIS EPISODE IS NOT JUST ABOUT BEANIE BABIES. Have to make that clear. But our guest, known toy-hater Josh, read a book on the topic (The Great Beanie Baby Bubble) so we decided to talk about collectible bubbles and how they burst. Are your toys really an investment? Are Funko Pop!s the same as Beanies? Listen and find out! (Spoiler: maybe?)
Mostly, though, this episode is a free-form comedic exploration of what’s on Josh’s drunken mind with occasional tangents into his TWISTED political rants, GI Joe, and religion.
Also: Toys we weren’t allowed to have. Satanic Pogs. The Berenstain Bears go toy crazy. Garbage Pail Kids. Live opening of Trolls blind bags.
Warning: Josh says “bitch” SO much. Like a suspicious amount.
We made it! Thirty episodes! We talk mostly about the recent New York Toy Fair 2019, but not before we tangent on Mondo’s He-Man and Faker (MOTU), Blake’s new DCC Essentials Joker, Batgirl’s new costume, Toy Tipz with Blake, Marvel Legends Walgreens Mystique, and more.
BATMAN. CATWOMAN. BLACK PANTHER. Ninety minutes, folks. Blake had the most amazing toy day of his LIFE–plus he got the Mondo exclusive BTAS Batman figure recently–and he needs to dish about it like crazy. We’re gonna deep dive into a review of this 12” bad boy. And hey…what time period did Batman: The Animated Series take place in, anyway? Because Blake and Adam are going to butt heads over it.
Next, Blake went buck wild on some MARVEL LEGENDS BLACK PANTHER WAVE 2 figs, and…a PRICE MIRACLE happened at WALMART. You won’t believe your ears.
Also: Mezco One:12 Collective Catwoman. Yup, Blake got that today too. And it rules.
The boys discuss some…interesting news about MacFarlane toys and the DC license. It’s been so long since we did a podcast Blake done nearly lost his voice on this one. But so worth it!
Welcome to 2019, everyone! In our first episode of the new year we lament Blake’s Ongoing Mondo Batman Saga. We spend a lot of time on Adam’s new Nightmare on Elm Street NECA Accessory Set (featuring a very special snake!) and Mezco One:12 Popeye. There is talk of a Ghostbusters / TMNT / Back To The Future crossover spec script penned by Adam. Blake says SLAPS way too much. We go deep into the Spider-verse (a movie which slaps). Join us in Kustomizer’s Korner and meet Blake’s new modded Fallout Guy. There’s an old man Fortnite rant!
Also: DC Collectibles Artists Alley, Star Wars Black Series Archives, Mattel loses DC to Spin Master, Red Dead II horsepunching, and listener questions!
It’s still Christmas here on Shelf Life! We’re only 5 days late! This time we’re talking all about a little Christmas toy movie called LIFE-SIZE 2 which may or may not have the subtitle “A Christmas Eve.” This movie poses the question, What if a Mattel-type company decided to cancel a Barbie-type doll in favor of something called “video game apps,” causing the doll turn human in an attempt to save her own wretched life? Also, a spoiled millenial learns a valuable life lesson or something, and baby boomer writers teach us what they think it means to be woke.
Then, we exchange toys in possibly the saddest gift exchange ever captured on microphone.

-Be A Star 2 - Tyra Banks feat. New Fear’s Eve
IT’S THE HOLIDAYS! (Part 1 of 2) We discuss 2018’s Worst Holiday Toy list – it’s mostly about eyeball injury. But not before we talk and joke about: NECA horror, Freddy, Jason, Alien/Aliens, Walgreens Marvel Legends Magik, DC Multiverse Harley Quinn and Spoiler, Mythic Legions, Batmobile lost its wheel, Brightburn, FUNKO, Dangerous Toys the metal band (Sport’n A Woody), and THE CHRISTMAS CAST.

We made it to another Halloween, folks. And this time it’s even SPOOKIER. Mostly because we tried out a new podcast format: Bad movie watching. We watched Demonic Toys (1992) so you don’t have to! It’s bad, folks. Rough stuff. But it’s got toys. Oh does it ever.
Also: Mego at Target tangent. Adam and Josh sing Newsies. Mormonism. Which toy would you be? Secret Santa!(?) and DOIN’ THE NASTY.
