Nothing is more gorgeous and green than the great state of Colorado.

And when it comes to clean beauty in Colorado, one boutique comes to mind: AILLEA.

This spring, the Denver-based clean beauty boutique is expanding, bringing that Colorado green goodness to Raleigh, North Carolina, and Charleston, South Carolina.

Under the leadership of founder Kathryn Murray Dickinson, AILLEA’s fourth and fifth locations will offer in-house beauty services, such as facials and brow maintenance, as well as products from some of the best brands green beauty has to offer.

AILLEA currently has three brick-and-mortar locations: two in Denver and one in Atlanta.

“While several large cities now have multiple clean beauty options, smaller cities have not had as much access to these ever-growing brands,” Kathryn says. “I am so excited for people to be able to see, touch, feel and fall in love with these luxury brands in person.”

Kathryn, a beauty industry marketer-turned-entrepreneur, founded AILLEA on the promise that women should have the opportunity to experience healthier skincare, makeup, supplements and body care options.

With that promise in mind, Kathryn chooses to stock green beauty products based on quality of ingredients, quality of performance and quality of experience. At AILLEA, you’ll find products free of parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals and endocrine disrupters. Instead, you’ll find products loaded with plants and plenty of pretty.

These are the green beauty products that Kathryn loves to experience.

As usual, I’ve starred the items I also use and love.

AILLEA Founder Kathryn Murray Dickinson’s Favorite Lifestyle & Green Beauty Products

*Josh Rosebrook Moisturizing Cleanser

This gets all of my makeup off and leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and hydrated.

*Kypris Deep Forest Clay Mask

I personally try all of the products that come in to the store. Sometimes the constant change leaves my skin less than perfect. This always clears it up and brings it back to balanced without drying it out.

*Kjaer Weis Mascara

This mascara DOES NOT MOVE. Seriously — you can put it on at 7:00 a.m. and it looks EXACTLY the same at midnight. But it magically still washes off easily!

Kjaer Weis The Beautiful Oil

I love this under my makeup — they aren’t lying when they say this is the “root of light.” So, so pretty.

*Orgaid Sheet Mask & *Honest Hazel Eye Gels

I am a hydration junky. These two items are miracle workers. They are especially great to make your skin look fantastic right before a big event or to revive after a long flight.

Laptop

I admit, I am seriously tethered to my email. And I am probably dating myself, but work SO much faster on my laptop than my phone. It is so much better for editing photos, managing multiple projects and screens at one time (for me, at least). Everyone asks about my marble top — you can get one here on Etsy.

Cat Doorknocker Earrings

These were my mom’s in the 70s and probably my favorite piece of jewelry (after my wedding ring, of course).

Nantucket Looms Blanket

I tend to work curled up under a blanket. These are so cozy and beautiful as throws around the house. They are handwoven and made SO well. I think the one I have is more than 15 years old.

*Kosas Lipsticks

The whole line is amazingly wearable for every complexion, and they are super soft.

*RMS Buriti Bronzer & *Lily Lolo Bronzed Illuminator

I am very pink and try to tone it down with more earth tones. The RMS Buriti Bronzer and Lily Lolo Illuminator in Bronzed are perfect for my fair complexion. They are part of my makeup “uniform.”

Maya Chia Wonder Balm

This aptly named moisturizer packs a SERIOUS, SERIOUS hydration punch, which in arid Colorado is a necessity. They market it more for cracked cuticles, elbows and heels, but I am indulgent and use it on my lower legs, too. It leaves them glowing without being greasy. A good friend also used it on her tummy throughout her pregnancy and never got a stretch mark!

The moisture and hydration theme continues as the weather gets colder and my skin gets itchier.

In November, I also pay attention to aromatherapy. Flowers are hard to come by this time of year, so I rely heavily on products laced with beautiful essential oils and absolutes to keep my mind at ease.

These are my November favorite beauty products.

kimberlyloc’s November Favorite Beauty Products Korina Naturals Jasmine & Sandalwood Whipped Body Balm

I know you know that I love jasmine.

New-to-me Korina Naturals Jasmine & Sandalwood Whipped Body Balm is part of my love affair. This concentrated (read: rich) balm is whipped with shea butter, coconut oil and jojoba oil for a sweet skin treat. It lulls me to sleep after slathering it on head-to-toe before bed.

I apply a little extra on my feet (and then put on socks!) to feel like a fancy flower lady. It works.

Marie Veronique Pre+Probiotic Daily Mist

Popping a daily probiotic? Of course you are.

Misting a daily probiotic? Maybe not.

But now you can. Marie Veronique’s Pre+Probiotic Daily Mist is part of my everyday vitamin cocktail, and for good reason. This calming blend contains a combination of 34 probiotic live strains, including a high concentration of Bifidobacterium, kept in balance with prebiotics to maintain healthy skin flora (goodbye, facial fungus!).

If you’re prone to irritation, inflammation and itchiness, this mist can offer some relief. I like it in the morning and a few times throughout the day.

Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel

A Korean beauty staple, Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel offers fragrance-free, calming hydration to even the most sensitive skin. Aloe and propolis are known for their ability to soothe irritation and quench skin’s thirst.

I like using this gel right after cleansing and misting. It’s a perfect base layer to targeted serums, creams and moisturizers and promises all-day hydration. Itchiness and flakiness stand zero chance.

Bonus: If your hands are extra dry and cracking, use a layer of this before piling on the heavy hand creams and ointments.

R+Co Atlantis Moisturizing Shampoo

In cold, dry weather, my colored hair appears brittle, damaged and dull. R+Co Atlantis Moisturizing Shampoo is my go-to when my hair needs softening and shine. The smell is incredible (clean, fresh and ocean-like), and the lather is gentle. After shampooing and drying, my hair always looks way better and feels soft to the touch.

Stylist Tip: If you use other color-preserving formulas (like R+Co Sunset Blvd. for blondes), you can easily mix a little of Atlantis with it to help amp up the moisture.

Aveda Hand Relief

I’m quickly making my way through my hand cream collection. Aveda’s Hand Relief is getting lots of attention this winter thanks to its quick and intense moisturizing action. It’s loaded with aloe and meadowfoam seed oil for instant hydration and softening.

The scent is also quite neutral (the man in the house likes this) and doesn’t interfere with perfumes or other scents you may wear.

What are your November favorite beauty products? Tell me in the comments!

When it comes to masking, there are two simple categories

  1. Clay detox masks, which help unclog and degunk pores
  2. Acid exfoliation masks, which help slough off dead skin cells and brighten the complexion

But what if I told you there’s a mask that doesn’t firmly fit into either camp and instead, has created something of its own category?

That’s exactly what Marie Veronique Probiotic + Exfoliation Mask has done, and it’s ready to replace the majority of your spa day treats.

{Marie Veronique Probiotic + Exfoliation Mask costs $50 for a 1.7-ounce jar. I purchased this product with my own money.}

Marie Veronique Probiotic + Exfoliation Mask Review

Though, OK, it can’t yet replace a good clay mask, Marie Veronique Probiotic + Exfoliation Mask is an exceptional multitasker and something of a skin food, thanks to its smart blend of lactic acid, fruit enzymes, shea butter and probiotic cultures.

You’re going to be seeing more and more probiotic skincare treats going into 2018; Marie Veronique will lead the way with its scientifically backed, thoughtful and clean blends.

(This probiotic mist is also in my skincare arsenal.)

If, somehow, Marie could figure out how to incorporate a good, cleansing clay into this creation, this mask seriously could treat everything your skin deals with daily.

Instead, Marie Veronique Probiotic + Exfoliation Mask gets to work on your parched, dull skin by gently exfoliating and brightening via acids while keeping natural skin flora in check thanks to a special pre/probiotic complex.

I was drawn to Marie Veronique Probiotic + Exfoliation Mask because of my constant struggle with fungal acne (also known as pityrosporum folliculutis or malassezia folliculitis).

(I’ll detail this annoying issue in a forthcoming post, but know that our skin is resident to all sorts of bacteria and fungus; when it goes out of whack, it means major skin issues that must be addressed both internally and externally.)

While there are some ingredients in this mask that may irritiate fungal acne (namely, shea butter), I took a chance on it because of the balancing probiotic blend that could help balance my own skin flora.

Here’s an ingredient breakdown:

Lactic Acid
Alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) safe for all skin types, including skin prone to hyperpigmentation

Sodium Salicylate
Anti-inflammatory that moderates effect of lactic acid

Lemon Bioferment Enzymes
Dissolve dead skin cells loosened by lactic acid

Shea Butter and Coconut Flour
Return emolliency to the skin

Probiotic Cultures
Helps restore the natural balance of skin’s microbiota

Here’s the full ingredients list:

Camellia sinensis (green tea) infusion, Butyrospermum Parkii (shea butter), xanthan gum, potato flour, Cocos nucifera (coconut) flour, sodium salicylate, lactic acid extract 5%, pre/probiotic complex

Essential oils: Citrus aurantium (neroli), Boswellia carterii (frankincense), Citrus sinensis (sweet orange), Citrus Medica Limonum (lemon), Pelargonium graveolens (rose geranium)

Active ingredient: 5% lactic acid

I like to use Marie Veronique Probiotic + Exfoliation Mask a few times a week, and because it’s pre-made, it’s simple to swipe on a teaspoon and then chill for 5 minutes. Talk about saving time on a Spa Sunday!

I can’t claim that this mask worked overnight miracles on my fungal acne breakouts, but I will say that it provided a gentle deep clean to my skin.

There was never any peeling, burning or itching with this mask, but I could tell that my skin seemed brighter and my pores seemed cleaner after each use.

Other acid mask and acid toners, as much as I love them, can be too harsh on irritated, itchy facial skin in need of deep cleaning but also babying and TLC.

If you’re new to acids and probiotic skincare, Marie Veronique Probiotic + Exfoliation Mask is the only thing you need to get going. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: This line is solid, and I wholeheartedly trust and admire Marie’s formulas.

As a paying customer, I’d buy this again and again and absolutely recommend this line to those who just want a good, clean skincare line that makes it easy.

Do you have any probiotic-packed products in your skincare routine? What masks do you use weekly? Ever tried Marie Veronique? Tell me in the comments section!

This post is kindly brought to you by NOW Solutions, who compensated me for this sponsored post. All product descriptions, tips and opinions are my own!

Think back to your very first at-home facial.

It was probably a clay mask.

It was probably an unnaturally bright green.

It probably dried the hell out of your skin.

Clay masks are powerful, but they don’t have to do more damage than good to your skin. The key to clays is finding the right kind for your skin type and using the right mixer to address your skin’s needs.

In my personal skincare routine, I like to first use an acid-based mask (think lactic, papaya or other tingly-type masks) to slough off dead skin cells and deep clean.

Then comes the clay.

A good pore-degunking, skin-purifying clay mask will draw out whatever’s clogging your skin, leaving it looking even, refined and virtually poreless.

Depending on how congested my skin looks, I’ll mix my clay with water (or rosewater!) for the strongest unplugging action.

Or, I’ll mix in something a little gentler, like yogurt or honey, to baby my skin a bit while still reaping the benefits of detoxifying clay.

If it’s time for clay to make a comeback to your beauty cupboard, these are the three classics that can keep your skin clean.

Clay Masks For Oily Skin

Bentonite clay is my bae. Though my skin is more combination than oily these days, there’s a few weeks of the month (ahem) where I need a stronger clay to zap excess oil and calm skin.

You may also know bentonite by its bar name: fuller’s earth. It’s found in several fabulous multi-clay masks because of its ability to remove impurities and dry up problem spots.

Clay Masks For Normal, Combination & Oily Skin

NOW Solutions’ European Clay Powder is the one-size-fits-most clay, making it a wonderful beginners’ clay.

Sometimes referred to as French green clay, green montmorillonite clay is an ideal clay for experimentation. Mix it with water and add a bit of honey, yogurt or carrier oil (I like jojoba oil) to customize it to your skin’s needs.

For a spa-like experience, add one drop of lavender essential oil and chill out while your skin and mind take a break.

Clay Masks For Sensitive Skin

If you’re brand new to masking in general or know your skin can be a bit reactive, red montmorillonite clay is the way to go. You’ll find red clay referred to as Moroccan red clay or rhassoul clay.

Compared to green clay, red clay is less active but just as effective at purifying the skin.

So, if you’re one of the lucky ones who is blessed with sensitive yet acneic skin, red clay will get right down to business  — without excessively drying your skin.

What clay masks do you keep on hand? How often do you treat yourself to a clay mask? Tell me in the comments section! This post is kindly brought to you by NOW Solutions, who compensated me for this sponsored post. All product descriptions, tips and opinions are my own!

Two years ago, the guy and I escaped the shopping madness and headed to Tulum for my 30th.

It was after a whirlwind of life changes, and this year it’s somewhat similar:

  • I quit my job in May.
  • I went back to my former employer, but in a different role.
  • I suffered a billion stress-related breakouts (see bullets 1 and 2).
  • I dyed my hair blonde, rose gold and warm red-honey.
  • I moved apartments and cities — hello, KCMO proper!

Thus, a vacation from it all was absolutely critical.

Though the guy swore our next big trip wouldn’t involve a beach, he somehow found himself booked on a Jamaican vacation with me for my 32nd birthday, which falls on Cyber Monday this year.

While I’ll be unplugged and away from any and all virtual shopping carts, you can enjoy these fabulous Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping codes.

October was all about moisture, moisture, moisture.

Changing temperatures, finicky skin, crazy breakouts and lots of travel had me craving comforting, cushiony formulas to baby my skin. My monthly obsessions centered around keeping my skin bouncy, soft, hydrated, smoothed and healed.

Below, get a peek at what I had on repeat throughout the month.

kimberlyloc’s Monthly Favorites: October 2017 Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel

I picked up a sample of this from Sephora and am completely obsessed. Biossance’s squalane oil is a staple for me, so when I saw how the line is expanding (in both product and placement!), I decided to do a little dabbling. While my favorite eye serums are well-documented, this one is going on the list. The soothing, light, bouncy gel texture is perfect in the morning when my eyes are puffy and sleepy. The formula is virtually weightless and effortlessly hydrating; my skin looks radiant and awake after using this. I milked every last bit of my tiny sample and have already placed my full-size order. (Hello, VIB Rouge!).

Rachel’s Plan Bee Sweet Pumpkin Body Polish

Rachel’s body scrubs are the absolute best, hands down. They’re creamy, softly scrubby and beautifully scented with essential oils (never fragrance oils). Limited edition for this season, Sweet Pumpkin is a delicious calorie-free autumn treat for your skin and senses. It’s sugar and spice and everything moisturizingly nice. I have to keep a close eye on this stuff, as the beau likes to dig in and use it as well.

Osmia Organics Linden Rose Hand Cream

This is my holy grail hand cream. It’s perfectly light — never greasy — yet moisturizing and hydrating, all at the same time. I keep it on my bedside table and have been reaching for it every night as the temperatures change and my skin freaks out. The formula is decadent without being overly rich, and the soft scent of linden blossoms lulls you to dreamland. I’d love to see this hand cream packaged in a skinnier tube to make it easier for travel, which I’ve been doing a lot of lately. (See more hand cream reviews.)

LXMI Nilotica Melt

A luscious, creamy balm-to-oil formula, LXMI’s Nilotica Melt is my current lip obsession. The multipurpose melt works wonders on chapped lips and hands. The East African shea nut is creamier than your typical shea butters. Try mixing in some mineral blush for a moisturizing cheek color with a light, nutty aroma. (Read the full review.)

Indigo Wild Frankincense & Myrrh Zum Rub

I am never without this stuff. Ever. My face has been exploding with breakouts lately (thanks, stress and travel), so Zum Rub rescues me from cysts every time. I don’t know what it is about this formula that calms those angry, under-the-skin bumps, but I had three of them this month, and Zum Rub shortened their stay. To all of you who still write me emails thanking me for this amazing discovery, you’re welcome! I absolutely still love it and swear by it nearly five years after my first review.

What products are you loving lately? Tell me in the comments!

Something of a shapeshifter, LXMI’s Pure Nilotica Melt transforms from balm to oil as it transforms your skin from dry and flaky to soft and smooth.

This USDA certified organic skin savior has the consistency of butter and a soft, shea-like scent; but don’t mistake nilotica for shea butter.

A close cousin, nilotica comes from the fruit of the East African shea tree, vitellaria nilotica. LXMI founder Leila Janah discovered nilotica while in Uganda. Her experience with the butter and its ability to nourish dry, travel-burdened skin made her a believer — and it’s making me a believer, too.

{LXMI sent me a sample of its Pure Nilotica Melt for review. The 15-gram tube costs $24; the 30-gram jar costs $48.}

Shea butter is one of my favorite ingredients for healing flaky, dry skin. But unless it’s whipped and cut with other ingredients, shea butter sourced from West African trees can be hard and difficult to melt. Nilotica shea butter boasts higher olein content and a creamy, smooth texture.

Here’s the full ingredient list:

100% Organic Vitellaria Nilotica Fruit Butter

In my travel-sized tube, it’s absolutely perfect for on-the-go moisture. Instead of sitting on top of my skin the way a thicker Western shea butter may, nilotica soaks in quickly and leaves my skin feeling moisturized and sealed.

My favorite uses for nilotica butter? Lip balm and top-of-hand treatment. It’s non-greasy and incredibly soft, melting right into my skin and leaving a soft shea scent. If you’re going to be extremely luxurious, try it on your feet at night. Divine.

If I must critique LXMI’s Pure Nilotica Melt, it’s the packaging. I much prefer the travel-sized tube compared to the (absolutely gorgeous) jar and wand packaging. Besides hygiene (yeah, yeah, just wash your hands or use the wand!), it’s impractical to tote around, and I absolutely must have this melt with me during all my fall and winter escapades.

LXMI, any chance I can get this in a larger-sized tube for my everyday cosmetics bag? It’s going to be a quick repurchase.

How do you heal dry, flaky skin? Have you heard of nilotica? What’s your go-to multipurpose moisturizer? Tell me in the comments.

A natural beauty shop with both a beautiful online and IRL presence, Ayla has found its niche in the ever-exploding green beauty space.

Founder Dara Kennedy curates this San Francisco-based green beauty shop with global flavor that sources interesting brands from around the world (and gives a special nod to California as you filter brands on her website).

From Australia to Switzerland, Ayla brings you the best of the best for your healthy lifestyle. You won’t find the common masses of green beauty brands here; just a tightly edited, luxe collection of interesting, unique and precious brands that will elevate your beauty cabinet.

Case in point: Dara’s responsible for introducing me to this, this and this. So good.

Below, Dara shares her go-to’s and fresh finds. Because you know this woman after my heart is always on the hunt for the best of the best!

Ayla Founder Dara Kennedy Shares Her Favorite Health & Natural Beauty Products

MyHavtorn Organic Facial Oil

This has been one of my favorite products since we started carrying it. On sensitive, rosacea-prone skin, in particular, it’s magic. Sea buckthorn oil boasts a full suite of essential fatty acids along with vitamins A and C — and I think this little company in Sweden makes the finest sea buckthorn oil products in the world.

Ayla + MyHavtorn Happy Tea

I’m beside myself with excitement over this tea. The environmentally minded family behind MyHavtorn finds a use for every part of the sea buckthorn tree: they pick the leaves, too, and use them to make a positively delicious and massively anti-inflammatory tea that’s packed with antioxidants and minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium and zinc. It’s often used to support cardiovascular health, help treat arthritis and boost immunity. The icing on the cake, though, is that it can also be a mood booster. It’s basically a miracle brew! I drink this stuff like there’s no tomorrow and could not possibly be more delighted that it’s our first product collaboration — I actually know the people who pick these leaves, wash them gently in fresh water from their mineral spring and carefully dry them in the fresh, pure air in the Swedish countryside. There’s nothing like this tea.

FDB Stress Elixir

You may notice a theme here…now that I’m drinking so much Happy Tea, though, I don’t need these drops quite as much. But I do find that, on some days when I’m late to pick up the kids, I have seemingly thousands of unread emails, we’re having company for dinner, I still need to go to the grocery store and the house is a mess, this helps me just surf those waves of stress and remind myself that it’s no big deal. Essential for Type-A working parents.

Biocyte Hyaluronic Forte

I picked these up on France on the recommendation of the creator of a brand I love, Biorecept. They’re an essential, especially during dry winter months. These plant-based pills contain hyaluronic acid, which I think is helpful for anyone to take, but particularly if you’re dealing with dehydrated skin and the first signs of aging. They seem to work differently on everyone, honing in on the areas where they’re needed most: on me, they ease the fine lines around my eyes. Others have reported to us that they make their lips feel like velvet, their pitted acne scars plump up and their eczema subside. I think this is such a cool product.

Kosas Royal

All of the weightless, wearable, perfect-finish Kosas lipsticks are beautiful, but this one is my favorite. It’s a modern, pinky burgundy that I think looks great on everyone. I brought it to the wedding of one of my best friends since preschool because I suspected she might like it. I put it on her when she couldn’t decide on a lipstick color and was starting to freak out, as brides sometimes do — and it was perfect.

The Organic Pharmacy Mascara

I have very sensitive eyes, and this mascara is one of the few that I can wear without blinking a thousand times a minute or waking up to puffy eyelids the next morning (and I do remove all of my makeup, really I do). It took The Organic Pharmacy years to develop this product, and the effort really paid off.

Luzern La Defense

This is another product that’s been in my collection of favorites from the beginning. It’s all zinc, it rubs in clear, it feels great on skin and it smells like Jolly Ranchers. There’s really nothing to not love about it. (How often can you say that about sunscreen?)

Marie Veronique Gentle Gel Cleanser

This is the cleanser I reach for when my skin is feeling dry and sensitive but I don’t want to use a milky or creamy wash. It’s a soothing, hydrating gel that feels wonderful while you’re using it and leaves skin fresh and comfortable. There are lots of good skin-calmers in here — green tea, licorice, and a pre/probiotic complex.

Biofficina Toscana Il Mio Shampoo

I found this brand during a scouting trip to Italy, and this shampoo is what got me most excited. It’s a mixture that you make of their gentle shampoo with a hydrolat that you pick based on your scalp condition, which I think is extraordinarily fun. Biofficina Toscana is committed to using Tuscan ingredients wherever possible, and you can actually smell the effect in their products — they smell like the botanicals they use.

Biofficina Maschera Balsamica Ristrutturante

This is officially my holy grail conditioner. (It’s a mask, but curly, wavy and dry hair types can use it as a regular conditioner.) You may not be able to tell in the photo, since I think it might have been taken after a rare blow-dry, but my hair is wavy and rebellious. This Tuscan olive oil-infused product calms it down and adds maximum moisture without weight. I haven’t found anything else like it.

In a desperate attempt to hang on to the last bits of summer, I’ve been drenching myself in Rachel’s Plan Bee Coconut Beach Body Oil as I prepare for a much-needed beach vacation this upcoming weekend …. which happens to coincide with the first day of fall.

Behind, much?

I’m hopeful that this smooth coconut-meets-pineapple body oil dream made its way onto your skin earlier in the summer while I was stressing away with a career change and apartment move (excuses, excuses for why I haven’t been blogging much).

But, if it hasn’t met your skin yet, you still have time. Scoop up this seasonal body oil (also available in a “shimmering” version!) to help you get through winter, after you take in all the pumpkin goodness that’s sure to come and distract you before Mother Nature turns her cold shoulder.

{Rachel’s Plan Bee sent me a sample of its Coconut Beach Body Oil for review. It costs $32 for a 3.8-ounce amber glass lockable pump bottle. Photos Courtesy Rachel’s Plan Bee}

OK, back to the coconut body oil details.

Rachel’s Plan Bee Coconut Beach Body Oil

If you’re a fan of Rachel’s Plan Bee Body Oils, you’ll find the familiar base of organic apricot kernel oil, sunflower seed oil, meadowfoam seed oil and more for a luxurious, moisturizing experience that leaves your skin soft and exceptionally touchable.

And, if you’re my cat, extremely sniffable.

You can use this Rachel’s Plan Bee Coconut Beach Body Oil as a bath oil, a shaving oil and, of course, on wet skin as a body moisturizing oil.

That’s my favorite use of it, as the scent stays all day and I get to enjoy a little total-body massage as I treat my skin to this sensory and moisturizing experience.

Half-a-pump per leg is all I need to stay soft, but you can also spoil yourself with full pumps if you’re feeling indulgent or have extra-dry skin.

(If you’re feeling extra indulgent, mix equal parts Coconut Beach with Jasmine for a truly exceptional experience. Fruity floral dream alert!)

Here’s the full ingredients list:

Apricot kernel oil*, sunflower seed oil*, meadowfoam seed oil, grapeseed oil, tocopherol (mixed)**, cranberry seed oil*, cocos nucifera fruit extract, citrus sinensis (sweet orange) oil*, vanilla planifolia, anthemis nobilis (chamomile Roman) flower oil* *certified organic **non-gmo

With the Coconut Beach scent, you’ll sniff a combination of coconut, sweet orange, vanilla and chamomile, which somehow yields a pineapple-coconut cake experience that will have you feeling both happy and hungry.

It’s summer, bottled, and will keep your brain feeling like it’s on vacation mode during your morning ritual.

As you’re stressing at work, don’t fear: this scent will last all day (as all of Rachel’s body oils are famous for!), so when you find yourself in between hectic meetings or unruly email, simply roll up your sleeve and get a whiff.

Vacation, baby. It’s coming.

And this sweet beach scent is coming with me as I take a much-needed mental break (and down a few coconut-infused drinks on the beach).

What are your favorite summer scents that you’ll be stocking up on for winter? Have you tried Coconut Beach Body Oil? Tell me in the comments!

Now that we’re in full-on summer mode, it’s time to stock a few warm-weather necessities to keep your skin and senses calm all season long.

Besides the obligatory sunscreen, I like to keep a few key items in my outdoor fun bag to ensure my skin is ready for whatever a weekend outside may throw at me.

For the Morning Hikes

It’s not easy to get me up early on the weekends (or, let’s be real, it’s a struggle during the week, too).

But, one thing that will have me up and at it on a Saturday morning is a planned hike out at the nearby nature sanctuary.

The beau and I love trekking through the woods and finding beautiful waterfalls, funky trails and other jewels along the way. But one thing we don’t want to encounter? Bugs. Specifically, mosquitoes.

To keep these bloodsuckers at bay, I spray a light layer of NOW Solutions Bug Ban all over my body.

It’s made with a concoction that I love but mosquitoes hate, namely citronella, lemongrass, rosemary and thyme. This natural solution protects my skin from bugs without the use of harsh chemicals.

For the Post-pool Cooldown

Though I’ve cut back on my “laying out by the pool” ritual a lot over the past several years, I’ll use my vitamin D-deficient status as an excuse for at least a couple great (sunscreened-up!) pool or beach days each summer.

As long as I’m diligent about applying and re-applying sunscreen, I have no problem catching a few rays here and there. And it makes it even more enjoyable, post-pool session, to wash up and then apply a light layer of aloe only to cool the skin and feel refreshed.

But, if for some reason I get a little redder than expected, aloe is still the go-to solution to calm and soothe overbaked skin. NOW Solutions Aloe Soothing Gel is the multipurpose solution for your skin, designed to refresh and revitalize sun-exposed skin with aloe and cucumber extract.

A bit of vitamin E and peppermint add a cooling touch.

Pro tip: Keep this baby in the fridge to maximize the cooling effect.

For the Pleasant Seasonal Transition

No matter what the season, anytime we go from one to the other, my sinuses take a toll.

While there’s nothing to really do besides power through, I have found that having essential oils on hand to sniff gives me some moments of peace and clarity. The perfect starter set? NOW Solutions Seasonal Changes Balancing Essential Oils Kit.

On some days, all I need is a quick whiff of a potent, cleansing essential oil, like tea tree or eucalyptus, to clear my head and senses.

On other days, when the pollen count is high or some other allergen is taking over the atmosphere, I like to dilute a drop or two of Clear the Air into a healthy dollop of jojoba oil and apply a light layer around my nostrils. This allows me to breathe in the fresh scent of peppermint, eucalyptus, hyssop and rosemary throughout the day.

If I wake up feeling a little congested or stuffy, my go-to trick for starting the day off right is to shake out several drops of essential oils into my shower before cranking it up and allowing the steam to envelope my body and senses.

Any combination of essential oils in the NOW Solutions Balancing Essential Oils Kit is perfect for this at-home steam spa! If you’re like me, you may get addicted and start building a beautiful essential oil collection to tinker with custom morning blends. Grapefruit, lemon and lime are some of the most cheerful EOs to add to your collection!

Caution: NOW® Essential Oils are highly concentrated and can be irritating to the skin. Avoid direct contact with skin and always dilute essential oils before topical use. Discontinue if rash appears after skin contact. Not for internal use. Avoid contact with eyes. Consult healthcare practitioner before using if pregnant/nursing

What are your go-to summer skincare solutions? Do you have any favorite sunscreens, after-sun treatments, bug sprays or essential oils to share? Where are you going this summer?
