The reservation-only period for Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge ends in four days (!!!) on June 23 and park officials are gearing up for the huge crowds they anticipate on June 24th.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

To help us all prepare for the land’s general opening, Disneyland has given us some beneficial planning tips! Let’s PUNCH IT!

Boarding Groups

As previously announced, Galaxy’s Edge will utilize a virtual queue system so the land isn’t completely overwhelmed with guests. Before you visit the park, you’ll need to download the Disneyland app. Once you arrive, you can check the app or signs to find out whether you’ll need to join a boarding group to visit the land that day.

The boarding group will save you a spot in line so you can enjoy other experiences in Disneyland, BUT it does NOT guarantee admission to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

©Disney

Continue checking your app or park signs to determine which boarding group is currently being admitted to the land. If you can enable push notifications on your phone, you’ll be alerted when it’s time to enter the land. But don’t stress too much — you’ll have two hours to enter Galaxy’s Edge.

Reservations for Savi’s Workshop and Oga’s Cantina

Starting June 24, reservations will be required to build a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop and to try a concoction at Oga’s Cantina.

Oga’s Cantina

You may make reservations beginning at 7:00 AM on the day of your visit. Reservations for both locations will allow entrance to the land, so you will NOT need to join a boarding group in this case.

Lightsabers at Savi’s Workshop!

The Plaza Restaurant in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is one of our favorite — and somewhat hidden — dining gems in the parks and is overlooked by many guests. Well, the Plaza is now serving up something that’s almost impossible to overlook now that they’ve introduced an absolutely crazy Chocolate Extreme Shake!

Look at that shake!!

This thing is so over-the-top we couldn’t wait to tell you all about it!

Chocolate Extreme Shake

To craft this crazy concoction, a rich chocolate shake is topped with a glazed donut, a chocolate ice cream cone, chocolate coin ears, AND a Mickey-shaped marshmallow.

Chocolate Extreme Shake

But wait! There’s more…

Glazed Donut from Chocolate Extreme Shake

The chocolate shake is mixed with even MORE chocolate, and the rim of the glass is decked out in white frosting and chocolate chips.

So much chocolate!

Chocolate Extreme Shake

This shake is pretty much made for chocolate lovers, but our server did tell us we had the option to choose another ice cream flavor.

Chocolate Extreme Shake

While this shake is indeed extreme, it is also VERY MESSY. We wish the waffle cone wasn’t inside the shake, because the cone was pretty much a soft mess by the time we got to it underneath all the other components. But it is a LOT of fun and would be a memorable dessert for a table to share.

Chocolate Extreme Shake

You can try the Chocolate Extreme Shake at the Plaza for $14. You won’t be able to take this shake to go, so you’ll need to plan to be seated in the restaurant.  It is NOT eligible as a Bottomless Milkshake, but I’m not sure how anyone could finish more than one anyway! We didn’t see any mention of this shake on the signs or menu inside the restaurant, but it is advertised with a sign at the outdoor check-in, and our seater and server both told us about it. So get ready to drink — and eat! — up with the Chocolate Extreme Shake!

Are you going to try the Chocolate Extreme Shake? Let us know in the comments!

Cozy Cone Motel in Disney California Adventure’s Cars Land serves treats that make us say “KACHOW“!

Bacon Mac & Cheese Cone at Disneyland’s Cozy Cone Motel

Two of these delicious goodies — the Chili Cone Queso and the Bacon Mac ‘n’ Cheese — happen to be served in a super yummy bread cone. But, on a recent visit, our friend Heather (you know her from @diningindisney on Instagram) learned something new about these two Cozy Cone options.

She found out that guests can choose to opt out of the bread cone, by asking for the Cozy Cone items to be served in a bowl instead. Some of you may have already known this, but this is a totally new concept for us!

Cozy Cone treats in a bowl

Now, this bowl isn’t particularly made for eating like the cones , but ordering this way IS a great option for those of you who are not particularly fond of the bread cone or who are trying to save a few calories when dining at Disney.

The Drink of the Month at the Coca-Cola Store Rooftop Beverage Bar in Disney Springs is the Simply Refresher!

Simply Refresher

Pretty, isn’t it? This blend of Simply Orange Juice, Jameson Irish Whiskey, and elderflower liqueur is topped with prosecco.

Simply Refresher on the menu

We’re happy to share that the Simply Refresher lives up to its refreshing name! You can definitely pick up on the taste of the Jameson, but it doesn’t overpower the rest of the drink. Though the elderflower was not very pronounced, the Prosecco is also present in the flavor and it all comes together very nicely.

Simply Refresher

You can enjoy it along with the views from the rooftop bar!

Simply Refresher

You’ve got through the end of June to try the Simply Refresher, and we’ll look forward to what’s to come in July! Check out more of what you can try at the Coca-Cola Rooftop Bar in our DFB YouTube Video!

For this summer, the Disney After Hours extra-ticket event in Magic Kingdom has received a villainous makeover.

Villains After Hours

What’s known for the summer as Disney Villains After Hours is filled with wicked treats, an all-new show, limited edition merchandise, and more!

Disney After Hours events, which are also offered at Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, are kept at a low capacity to offer lower wait times for popular attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We recently explored the new Villains After Hours event, which you can view our full review of here.

After Hours events can be pretty pricey, but luckily there is a discount in place for Annual Passholders! Passholders can actually save $30 on event tickets when purchasing them in advance. A standard ticket for Disney Villains After Hours is $148.04 after tax, so this brings that price down quite a bit.

Maleficent at Night

BUT, the discount isn’t the only perk that Annual Passholders will receive, because starting June 27th, Passholders attending the event will also get a complimentary ornament! The ornament will feature Hades and it can be picked up at Mickey’s Star Traders in Tomorrowland during the event.

Passholders will need their photo ID, a valid Annual Pass card, and your Disney Villians After Hours event wristband to claim your ornament. One ornament will be given per Passholder while supplies last! This perk comes at a great time since the company has recently increased the cost of an Annual Pass.

Have you attended a Disney Villains After Hours event? If so, what did you think? Let us know in the comments below!

In January of this year, Disney World and Disneyland introduced park-specific reusable shopping bags as part of their many efforts to eliminate single-use plastics. We love that the designs on the bags are specific to the parks where they’re purchased!

Reusable Shopping Bags

But if you love these merchandise bags like we do, we have a bit of not-so-great news to share. The totes we saw in Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Confectionery have all increased in price by a dollar.

Magic Kingdom Reusable Shopping Bags

When the reusable bags initially debuted, they were $1, $1.50 and $2.00, depending on size. Now, they’re $2.00, $2.50, and $3.00 respectively. That’s a pretty significant price increase in the span of five months! So far, we’ve only seen the new prices in Magic Kingdom, but we assume we’ll see the same price increase in the other parks as well.

Reusable Shopping Bags

This week is certainly a big one for price jumps, as we’ve already seen increased rates for Disney World Annual Passholders AND overnight parking for Disney World resort guests.

What are your thoughts on the reusable bag price increase? Let us know in the comments!

It seems to me like Roaring Fork in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is kicking things up a notch when it comes to cupcakes…

Candy Cupcake

… as evidenced by the new Candy Cupcake we found today!

The first thing to greet your eyes is a heaping helping of super sweet vanilla buttercream icing topped with what looks like all the best scores out of a Halloween trick-or-treat bag!

Candy Cupcake

Snickers, M&Ms, and Hershey’s minis all make up the toppings. AND, just in case that’s not enough, it’s all drizzled over with caramel sauce!

Candy Cupcake

A delicious and moist marble cake base has another whole heap of chocolate right in the middle, which is kind of like a mousse in consistency… maybe just a smidge thicker.

Candy Cupcake

We brought ours outside for pictures for you all, but we recommend keeping this inside for the high melt factor with all that chocolate! That said, it’s a messy cupcake no matter where you eat it… but we mean that in the best and most delightfully messy way possible!

The Candy Cupcake — $5.99 or Disney Dining Plan snack credit — is such a fun and sweet treat for kids and for the kid in all of us!

Check out more of what Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has to offer in our DFB YouTube Video!

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground provides an outdoorsy adventure in the midst of the hustle and bustle of a Disney World vacation. From Trail’s End to Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, we LOVE everything Fort Wilderness has to offer.

The Pioneer Hall Players at The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue!

And Happy Campers planning a trip to Fort Wilderness will want to know about a new campsite category available for booking on Disney World’s website — the Premium Meadow Campsite.

We’ve confirmed that the location for this campsite category is NOT new, but the category itself is. Premium Meadow Campsites will be situated close to amenities like the Bike Barn, Meadow Trading Post, and Campfire area, while there is no location guarantee for Premium Campsites.

Chip and Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long Area

Given the difference in location, Premium Meadow Campsites cost slightly more per night than Premium Campsites. As an example, for dates in January 2020, Premium Campsites cost $116 per night while Premium Meadow Campsites cost $126 per night.

Fort Wilderness Campsite Rates – January, 2020

For more information on the Fort Wilderness Campsites, visit disneyworld.com.
