If our reaction is perseverance then we are experiencing the gracious power of God.
Life happens. No matter what happens, our reactions to life’s circumstances often determine the future. We can be sad and lonely … or we can trust God for His best and press on and keep moving forward.
We lost our 15 year old four-legged friend on Friday night, March 9, 2018. Laney was a loyal friend we had for 5 years. She came to us trained and spoiled… and we finished spoiling her right up to the very end.
We didn’t want to have her put to sleep at the vet’s office. We wanted her to pass in her favorite place with her favorite people, her family. So Friday, as loyal as she always was, she waited for me to get home from a long work week and she passed at 8:25pm on her favorite bed in her favorite living room in front of her favorite TV.
She loved TV time. Every time animals came on TV, especially on the commercials, she would bark and run to the screen to try to catch the animals. Horses, other dogs, cats… no matter what kind of animals were on the screen, she saw them and tried to catch them. She even looked around the side of the TV screen as if they were running off screen and behind the TV.
She loved sitting outside in the sunshine in the yard. She could sit in the sunshine for the longest time, just watching and sniffing the air.
She loved catching snacks in her mouth, especially popcorn. We could throw the snacks to her and she would catch them… and looked up for another snack.
We loved you, Laney, and we will miss you. Enjoy running free with Mandy (1996-2012).
Good-bye 2017. You’ve been a good friend, but move over… 2018 is here. This is the year I plan to run Florida. This is the year I plan to invest in the lives of many people… people I run with, people I work with, people I see on a daily basis, and people I rarely see.
Life is good and God is great.
I am a trained educator and teacher but not in the traditional role. In late 2017 I was given the opportunity to teach new hires at work. I love the company with which I work and see great opportunities personally and also for the city. I love being involved in the open door of the company to welcome new employees.
I love my habit of running the streets of Winter Haven 3-4 days a week. I have run other areas of central Florida and now it is time for me to expand my running areas to the entire state of Florida. I will start by going south to Key West and the plans as of now are to finish by going northwest to Pensacola. Although my friends and I have lived in Florida most of our lives (some of them all of the lives), we have never been to Key West. This is our chance to go and explore Florida’s southernmost point. And this is my chance to get another half marathon medal. I have met many friends who inspire me to #keepmovingforward.
Please join me as I work to inspire myself and others along this journey of life. Together we can be an encouragement to others.
Did you help anyone? What made you laugh? Tell me something you know today that you didn’t know yesterday.
And ask questions that require more than yes/no answers. Many of these questions are perfect for all conversations with all ages of people. Start up a conversation with a total stranger and see where those talks lead.
Resonance, in physics, explains the sense we have when we meet our people. Resonance occurs when an object’s natural vibration frequency responds to an external stimulus of the same frequency. If we know an object’s natural rate of vibration, we can make it vibrate without touching it. We are feeling something or experiencing something in common with people. This is connection.
We resonate with our people at the same frequency when we share the same view through the same lens and we value the same things. Amos and God were in sync with one another when God did the punishing and Amos told Israel it was Him doing it. Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? (Amos 3:3).
Connection comes not from finding people who view the world from a right-wrong perspective. True connection comes from finding natural kinships within diverse groups or tribes.
Success is often determined by being on the right bus with the right people who have a like passion and purpose. Who is in your tribe? With whom have you connected? Who shares your same passion and purpose? With whom have you resonated?
We are designed and instructed to live in community with others. God’s Word encourages and urges us to be compassionate and kind. We must forgive and love. We can’t do that unless we live in community and interact with others. All of our responsibilities and duties involve other people. We must live in community to display Jesus’ character to others.
It doesn’t take much to live in community with others. We only need simple and kind words spoken plainly to share and point others to Jesus. The way we live our lives and go about our daily responsibilities reveals the Gospel and who and what drives us. We can live like Jesus as we help others along on their journey of faith.
Just live and love life and invite others to join you.
