When it comes to eyebrow products I like to use either powders/pomades (to add volume and overall thickness) and finish up with a pencil (it offers more precision) but if I am short on time, most of the times I will just go with a pencil alone.
I've been using NYX Micro Brow Pencil for a quite some time now and it's probably one of the few products I keep repurchasing over and over and over again. I like it because it's affordable and it does the job but from time to time I am certainly being drawn towards new products often wondering if the higher price tag will make any difference. Over the years I've tried many different high-end pencils from brands like Kevin Aucoin, ABH and most recently Benefit Cosmetics.
The thing about the entire Benefit Cosmetics collection that really got me were the overall raving reviews particularly about how awesome the best-selling Precisely, My Brow Pencil is so I got it along with Gimme Brow Gel as a part of Boss Brows, Baby! Set ($34) which also came with a super cute custom ban.do makeup bag.
I am a sucker for pretty packaging but let me tell you, working with this funny looking shiny thing around a very curious toddler was quite the challenge but although the theme is not entirely my kinda jam, I still think the packaging is unique and quite different. When you compare NYX Micro Brow Pencil side by side with Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil the NYX one looks a bit plain but at the same time, it's way cheaper and takes a little bit less space.
NYX Micro Pencil cost $10 (currently it's on sale for $7 on Ulta) offers 0.003 oz of the product while Benefit Cosmetics retails at $24 and only has 0.002 oz of product.
My Review & Final Thoughts
The most significant difference between these two aside from the packaging would be the brush that both pencils come with. Benefit Cosmetics has, in my opinion, a slightly better brush that I really like using and prefer it over the one that comes with NYX Micro Brow Pencil. The NYX one is not bad at all it's just Benefit one seems sturdier and just brushes hair better in my opinion.
Both pencils work great because they are very precise so drawing small hair strokes as well as filling your eyebrows, in general, is an easy task. Both brands offer various different shades to suit your brows, with Benefit recently releasing even more of them which is super exciting.
The biggest thing and essentially a deal breaker for me was the longevity. You see I have this sparse spot on one of my eyebrows that I always have to touch up throughout the day because no matter what pencil I use it still won't stay there long enough (same with powders). I've had high hopes for Benefit but it didn't make any difference in my touch-up routine which basically made me think of going back to my NYX pencil once I run out of this one. Why? Simply because of the affordable price. If Benefit was at the same price range as NYX I would consider possibly switching to it because I like their brush a bit better but overall texture and long-lasting power I would say it turned out to be close to exactly the same.

As a busy mom and an avid coffee and tea drinker, I started noticing lately that my teeth were not as white as I wished and started looking into low maintenance teeth whitening options to try at home and see if it could get my bright smile back.
In the past, I've attempted using whitening stripes but they gave my teeth such a bad sensitivity that I literally aborted the whole mission after like 2 uses and never went back to it.
Going to the dentist and paying a hefty price for teeth whitening wasn't an option so I started looking into at home whitening kits that could provide the same high-quality results and there is when I stumbled upon Smile Brilliant website and got familiar with their whitening system.
Dentists recommend whitening teeth using custom-fitted whitening trays and Smile Brilliant offers customized trays which maximize the whitening process. They also have two whitening options: regular and for people with sensitive teeth. From my previous experience using the stripes I wasn't sure if my teeth were sensitive enough for the sensitive kit but after talking to their helpful and very friendly customer service I decided to go ahead with the sensitive whitening kit.
What comes in Smile Brilliant Whitening System?
The kit that I received came with a professional lab service which makes the custom-fitted trays for you. The only thing I had to do is to take the impressions of my teeth (they provide all materials) and send it back to them (postage is covered as well). Smile Brilliant kit also came with Professional Teeth Whitening Gel (Dentist-strength 22% Carbamide Peroxide in 3ml syringes) & Desensitizing Gel (included in the sensitive teeth kit).
Getting your custom made trays
I was super excited when I got my kit in the mail and although slightly nervous about making sure I get a decent impression of my teeth, the whole process turned out to be SO easy and user-friendly that my impressions came out looking great the first time. Smile Brilliant provides you with a lot of step by step instructions that include clear photos and tons of tips so it's hard to not get it right the first time. If you will mess up, they provide additional mixing materials in case you have to redo it.
The company also stays on top of the entire shipping process and frequently updates you with the status of your trays.
Using your custom trays & my experience
Once I received my custom trays back from the lab, I was very impressed with the quality as well as comfortability of wear. They fit my teeth perfectly and are really easy to use and keep clean. I started my whitening process with a very little amount of whitening gel just to get my teeth used to it and also to see if I will have any sensitivity. The first time, I only worn the gel for like 45minutes and afterward applied the Desensitizing Gel and there was ZERO sensitivity! I could immediately tell that my smile looked brighter so I was eager to keep using it but decided to let my teeth rest two days and the next time I put the trays on for almost 2 hours and followed up again with the Desensitizing Gel. There was a slight increase in sensitivity after that but only on my bottom 4 teeth which lasted one evening. It was absolutely nothing compared to what I went through with whitening stripes in the past. It didn't hurt or bother me and I could still eat and drink hot and cold drinks. From then on I was trying to use Smile Brilliant Whitening System every few days before bedtime, so the Desensitizing Gel had time to sooth on my teeth overnight.
Before/ After & Final thoughts
My absolute favorite thing about using Smile Brilliant Whitening System is the custom fitted trays and the fact that the whole process doesn't hurt my teeth. It is also such a low maintenance process, wearing the trays is comfortable and doesn't stop you from doing anything so you can easily go about your day! I definitely can notice the difference in the appearance of my teeth as they look brighter and the stains are close to being completely gone!
