We all experience shame, also known as guilt, humiliation, or embarrassment. Shame is universal – but we don’t have to surrender to it. We can fight it. Read on to learn how to combat shame.I’ve been feeling that it’s important to use this space to talk about the shit that no one talks about. The stuff that has such a big stigma attached to it that everyone feels they need to bottle it all up because we don’t think it’s “normal” or it doesn’t live up to these unrealistic expectations that we, or society, have set for ourselves about how we’re supposed to feel and act. Like when you have problems in your relationship with your significant other. Admitting to seeing a therapist.  Experiencing postpartum depression. Talking about body image issues. The physical practice of yoga is only one tiny piece of what yoga truly means. So, how do you go beyond the physical practice? Today, I’m sharing 5 simple ways to live your yoga. What does live your yoga mean, anyways? It’s certainly a subjective phrase and open to interpretation, but I believe it means taking everything you learn and embody on your mat and carrying that with you throughout your day-to-day. There are actually ancient yoga texts that outline the principles of yoga that you should live by but I’ll save the history lesson for another time.     It’s the most frequently asked question I get on the blog so I figured it’s about time I answered it in depth! Explaining why I don’t include the nutrition information for the recipes on my blog.One of the questions I get asked most often in the comments section on the blog is why don’t I provide the nutrition information for my recipes. I’ve even had some people question if I’m truly a dietitian because I don’t include the nutrition information. Here’s what I can assure you:

    • I am a registered dietitian nutritionist
    • I create damn good recipes that taste delicious
    • I’m most often keeping nutrition in mind when I develop recipes
    • When you visit my blog, you will never feel an ounce of food guilt or shame due to some numbers.

    Hey friends! I’m still in Japan this week (back next week!) and so my other awesome intern, Dana, is taking the reigns here on the blog today. Dana is an amazing new RD (woot, woot!) who is passionate about intuitive eating and Health At Every Size. She’s also just an overall lovely human being and I think you’re gonna love getting to know her today.
