In Patch 8.1.5, we’ll be getting a new set of Tortollan Seekers world quests. One is pretty straightforward if you’ve already saved countless turtles for the Beachhead quest except this time, you’ll be killing them as you play the role of a predator.

If that’s not your scene, you can always try the Calligraphy quests if you enjoyed those rune-drawing tasks from Narthalas Academy. This is a simpler version since you’ll only need to trace one of three basic shapes. Each faction will get their own version with Alliance sticking to Kul Tiras and Horde staying in Zandalar. To make it slightly more difficult, the outline only lasts a few seconds before it disappears so you may need to try this more than once. Achievement hogs will probably want to do them once for Master Calligrapher. Check out a preview of all the Calligraphy world quests on YouTube.

What do you think about these new world quests?

Personally, I still love the helping Loh through the mazes and the shell game is a quick enough quest when you’re trying to complete three for the emissary. Beachhead is another story though. In the last couple of weeks, the targeting mechanic seems a little off when trying to shoot down the seagulls. Have to admit, knocking off a couple of turtles at a time was kind of fun.

The third pet battle dungeon is coming in Patch 8.1. To get started, make sure you have earnt the achievement All Growns Up! which requires you to physically raise a pet to level 25. Levelling stones and pet battling works but not purchasing or trading max level pets.

A new quest can be picked up from Radek Fuselock, who is located near the pet battle trainers in Dazar’alor, or Tizzy Gearjolt who is just outside of Dana Pull’s shop in Hook Point, Boralus. Thankfully, you won’t need to complete the earlier pet battle dungeons so with the addition of this third one, you’ll be able to complete them in any order.

Make your way to Gnomeregan and locate Micro Zoox, located just outside the Gnomeregan dungeon portal. Horde players will have a fun time getting inside the first time. =/

Stages of Gnomeregan Stage 1: Automated Defenses

Prototype Annoy-O-Tron (Mechanical)
Elite

Stage 2: Out of Control Elementals

Living Sludge (Elemental)

Living Napalm (Elemental)

Living Permafrost (Elemental)

Stage 3: Pull the Correct Levers

Control Console defeated

Stage 4: Bypass the Mine Field

Use the Shredder to make your way to the end of the hallway

Stage 5: Resilient Critters

Cockroach (Critter)

Leper Rat (Undead)

Stage 6: You Dirty Rat

Bloated Leper Rat (Undead)
Elite

Stage 7: Gnomeregan Defense Force, Activate!

Gnomeregan Guard Mechanostrider (Mechanical)

Gnomeregan Guard Tiger (Mechanical)

Gnomeregan Guard Wolf (Mechanical)

Stage 8: Shadowy Figure

Confront the Shadowy Figure – make sure you’re standing fairly close to activate the dialogue.

Stage 9: Thermaplugg’s Latest Invention

Pulverizer Bot Mk 6001 (Mechanical)

The first time you complete the scenario, you’ll receive an Ultimate Battle-Training Stone and access to Manapoof’s free teleport from your capital city.

Before you can try the Challenge Mode version, you will need at least 15 max-level pets to open up the account wide weekly quest from Micro Zoox.

Completing the challenge awards an achievement and Mini Spider Tank battle pet. On subsequent weeks, you’ll be able to earn a Pristine Gizmo – the new currency to purchase the new pets from Micro Zoox.

It will take 7 weeks to purchase all the pets (or 6 for non-engineers).

Here’s my complete preview of the scenario and first run-through of the challenge mode version.

In Tides of Vengeance, we’ll be getting a new pet battle dungeon, an updated Smoochums model and a whole heap of pets to add to our collections.

Achievement

If you enjoyed the Family Familiar achievements, get ready for another round with the tamers from BfA. Completing the meta rewards the Wicker Wraith.

Darkshore Warfront

Nightwreathed Egg (5 days to hatch) has also been datamined but I’m not sure what’s inside.

Redridge Tarantula – Venomarus (Arathi Highlands) another warfront drop?

Drop Gnomeregan

The pet battle dungeon has several new pets which can be purchased from the vendor. Check out the video if you’re interested in a preview.

Quest Paragon Reputation

Once you reach exalted with each of the following factions, you’ll have a chance to collect four additional pets from the bonus reputation caches.

Island Expeditions Drops Island Expedition Vendor

A new vendor (Captain Klarisa – Alliance, Captain Zen’taga – Horde) will be located by the Island Expedition table in each capital city (see video)

Zandalari Raptors

Two faction pets, one rare drop and a fourth wild pet to collect (see video of how to collect them all)

Are you excited by any of these additions?

Okay, sure there are cool mounts and transmog dropping from Island Expeditions but if you’re like me and in it mostly for the pets, you may just want a quick reference list too. As you’d expect, most drop from similar-looking mobs or share a common theme so a pirate monkey will drop from pirates, etc. Then again, you don’t want to completely ignore the normal looking mobs going by the list below. Thankfully, friends gifting you pets and AH purchases will still count towards the achievement but if you’re a completionist like me, you’ll need to farm the non-cageable ones yourself.

Cageable

Barnaby – Pirates
Bloodstone Tunneler – Worm
Craghoof Kid – Goat (common)
Deathsting Scorpid – Scorpion
False Knucklebump – Gorilla
Inky – Naga
Juvenile Brineshell – Makrura/Crab
Kindleweb Spiderling – Kindleweb Spider
Littlehoof – Deer (common)
Muskflank Calfling – Yak (common)
Octopode Fry – Naga/Murloc
Sandshell Chitterer – Scarab
Scuttle – Crab, Sea Giants
Snapper – Turtle
Snort – Yak (common)
Sparkleshell Sandcrawler – Crab
Sunscale Hatchling – Wind Serpent (common)
Thistlebrush Bud – Sprite (common)
Tinder Pup – Fire Dog (common)
Voru’kar Leecher – Nerubian

Non-Cageable

Captain Nibs – Pirates
Coldlight Surfrunner – Murloc
Giggling Flame – Fire Elemental
Kunchong Hatchling – Mantid
Laughing Stonekin – Earth Elemental
Mischievous Zephyr – Air Elemental
Playful Frostkin – Water Elemental

This one sure is a playful little thing :D #Warcraft pic.twitter.com/QaI0fIjRu5

Rare Drop

Poro – ?

I’m not sure whether Poro drops from something specific or is just a really rare drop but since it’s based on the critically endangered Kākāpō – a nocturnal, flightless parrot in New Zealand, I actually hope it is. Big thanks to Coolidge for mine though. :D

I haven’t done a huge number of IE, just the minimum number to fill my Azerite bar each week. There have been a couple of pet drops though, a cool looking sword and two Pirate hats so far – not to mention the usual rep items and dubloons. How about you?

Ahh, Polished Pet Charms. These little buggers would have to be my biggest pet peeve this x-pac with pet battle world quests rewarding you with pet bandages, a variety of stones or non-pet-related stuff. Considering there are ~5,000 to collect for the new BfA pets, you’ll want to make sure you do every relevant WQ if Polished Pet Charms are the reward, amirite? I mean, you wouldn’t want to accidently spend 60 of your hard-earned charms on Marked Flawless Battle-Stones when you thought it would use the old currency.

RIP polished pet charms. Second pet will hopefully come today unless I wait for a more expensive one. https://t.co/AXQNFVLdaz

Thankfully, there are a number of treasures and rares you can loot to add an extra 68 charms per toon. If you’re lucky, you’ll even see them as a mission reward from time to time.

Merchant’s Chest – 5 Polished Pet Charms
Cottontail Matron (rare event) – 10 Polished Pet Charms

Stormsong Valley

Poacher Zane (rare) 34, 67 – 10 Polished Pet Charms
Sunken Strongbox – 5 Polished Pet Charms

Tiragarde Sound

Precarious Noble Cache – 5 Polished Pet Charms

Vol’dun

Deadwood Chest – 10 Polished Pet Charms
Sandsunken Treasure – 5 Polished Pet Charms

Zandalar

Jani’s Stash – 8 Polished Pet Charms
The Exile’s Lament – 5 Polished Pet Charms

Missions

Ancient Defenses
Animal Research Project
Barren Supplies
Barren Supplies
Bestiary Cleanup
Explore the Roost
Overgrown Animals
Return to Auberdine

So far, I’ve only collected two vendor pets – Smoochums and Lil’ Ben’fon. How about you?

In Battle for Azeroth, there are six new achievements to collect so be sure to loot all ten treasures that count towards each zone. Generally, I only record the tricker ones (if they take more than 30 secs to loot or find) so you won’t see every treasure recorded. Some of the easier ones can be found as you quest or explore but I’ve included the more interesting ones below.

Lucky Horace’s Lucky Chest

Cursed Nazmani Chest

Lost Nazmani Treasure

Shipwrecked Chest

Swallowed Naga Chest

Partially-Digested Treasure

Cleverly Disguised Chest

Offering to Bwonsamdi

Venomous Seal

Wunja’s Trove

Offerings of the Chosen

Spoils of Pandaria

Warlord’s Cache

Da White Shark’s Bounty

Cache of Secrets

Witch Doctor’s Hoard

Gift of the Brokenhearted

Dazar’s Forgotten Chest

The Exile’s Lament

Riches of Tor’nowa

Let me know if you found one particularly annoying or fun. You can also check out the full playlist on YouTube.

As you spend time in Zandalar, you’ll probably notice a few Mysterious Trashpiles scattered around or unusual drops from mobs in the area. However, to interact with these trashpiles, you’ll need to complete Pests from Nokano in The Zocalo, Zuldazar. Alliance players can pick this up from Shaterstone Harbour, Vol’dun.

Completing this first part leads you to Jani (the Loa of Scavengers) and final part of the questline. Jani offers you Curse of Jani which requires you to survive his trial after being transformed into a saurok and reaching the NPC at the far end of the square.

Thief and killer, know dat ya be standin’ before da Patron of Scavengers, da Lord of Thieves, da God of Garbage, Master of Minions, and da Keeper of Secrets.

Ya be standin’ before me in raiment worth entire kingdoms of gold, bearin’ weapons dat cost more than even me most devout and renowned followers will ever earn.

I tink now be a good time ta teach ya a lesson. Maybe show ya high and mighty greatness what it means ta be snappin’ in da gutters.

Avoid aggroing any mobs (including the stealthy spiders in the bushes) or you’ll lose your illusion and have to start again. Once you reach the NPC, right click to ‘bite’ him. This completes your trial and opens up the ability to interact with Jani all over Zandalar.

Haha! Well done, wealthy stranger. When you are about in these lands, keep your eyes open. You never know when one of my children might be pointing you to a useful place.

When you’re out and about, keep an eye out for these cute little blue raptors because it usually means there’s a Mysterious Trashpile nearby. They can be found all over Zuldazar, Vol’dun or Nazmir and when you click one, Jani will either transform you into a saurok so you can perform a certain task or complete a hand-in.

There are 12 Mysterious Trashpiles needed for the Get Hek’d achievement (see playlist on YouTube) and were pretty fun to do. I originally thought you would get the Child of Jani from completing this achievement but it appears you need to purchase this from Happy Holaua in the Horde city for 100 Polished Pet Charms.

Are you looking forward to this?
